Kili
Kili sipped his wine and nodded his head for about the fiftieth time, even though he hadn't refilled his cup NOR was he actually paying much attention as to what he was being told.
As soon as a servant came by with a tray of drinks, he swiftly replaced cups and then carried on drinking as he listened to yet ANOTHER boring council member 'update' him on the situations he did not care about (nor was he really involved in).
He supposed the elder just liked lording it over him that his brother and Uncle had been given better jobs, but he...he felt like the messenger boy most of the time.
He enjoyed being sent to Dale, but it was only business in Mirkwood that he ever saw as important.
Or rather, whenever he was sent and Tauriel was there.
'Ah, Tauriel,' he thought and glanced casually around trying to spot her.
He observed all the elves, men and dwarves chatting and drinking together and truthfully, was pleased that their alliances had grown stronger over the years.
He spotted his love JUST as little Thora came bounding over to her, asking to be picked up by 'Auntie Tori!'
Kili didn't even care that he was ignoring the lord now.
He just smiled happily and watched as his love bent down, scooped up his niece and held her easily, smiling joyously as she did so.
She was only there for a minute or so, but Thora quickly scrambled down and ran back off, snatching treats and pastries off the tables as she went.
He couldn't help but laugh as she then dove under a table and he knew that she'd be devouring those snacks all to herself before anyone could stop her.
Kili would always tell people HE was the one who'd taught her that, but maybe it had been a group effort since Fili and Dru had been the one to join him on those adventures.
'Good times.'
He turned back around to the Lord (who was seemingly still talking) and excused himself when he saw his love was alone, making his way quickly over to her.
"Kili," Tauriel excused herself from her own small group of friends and welcomed him with a loving grin, "I was wondering where you were, my love. Your niece just told me that I'm welcome to join her for snacks under the table and I was half tempted to believe you'd be there also."
He shrugged casually and held up his hands innocently.
"Sometimes, I'm extremely tempted," he gave her a cheeky wink and lowered his voice, "depends on the company and I'm not about to dive under any tables without you, my love."
Tauriel still had a smile, but something must have entered her mind for her eyes softened and became sad.
"I've heard about the company you spend time with...and the one you do not," she sighed and pleaded with him quietly, "I know he can be a little difficult, but won't you try to talk to Legolas?"
Kili felt as though the weight of the world was on his shoulders. He could deny her nothing and would give her the world but...Legolas was an awkward bastard.
"I can try again, my love," he was as honest as he could be without being hurtful, "it's just...we're very different people so we may not hold one another's interest."
"I know, but he is my best friend. And you," she laid her hand on his shoulder and gently swept back his hair, "are my intended. I would like you two to get on after all these years."
Her fingers brushed against the side of his neck and Kili felt as though she had miraculously banished all his qualms with just the simple touch.
"I will try, my love."
After a far too short conversation, she moved away towards Thranduil when he gave her a silent command and Kili was left alone, pondering on the best way to handle the elf Prince.
He would try to talk to Legolas tonight.
Again.
He'd actually already tried to twice.
Both times, Legolas gave him a short, curt answer and then promptly excused himself.
How was he supposed to win Legolas over if her 'best friend' wouldn't talk to him?!
'Bah!' He thought to himself, 'Poncy bloody Prince!'
"You look lost in thought, baby brother," he turned to see his brother had joined his side and was half paying attention to him, whilst the other looked around for something he'd evidently misplaced, "you wouldn't have happened to see my daughter at all? I lost her under the second table."
Kili gestured towards the table that was nearest Thorin and smirked.
"Your little one is currently shoving all the cream and jam horns into her mouth before mother comes to find her," he winked and nudged his brother, "our mother, of course."
"Certainly, I doubt Dru would be able to bend down low enough to pull her daughter out by the ankles this time."
"I heard my name?" The female in question scooted over to them, sipping her sparkling apple cider as she did so.
"Good stuff, I swear," Fili winked at Kili before placing his free arm around his wife's back and leaning in for a kiss.
"I'm calling bollocks on that," she allowed him to affectionately peck her on the cheek and looked at her brother with amusement, "you look as excited as a cat about to be given a bath."
"Yeah? Well, you're looking rather HUGE today, sister," Kili said pointedly and Dru just rolled her eyes.
"So you keep saying."
"Are you sure it's not twins?"
Both Fili and Dru let out groans.
"Gods, I hope not. There's going to be a lot of screaming if they are."
"As long as you don't rip my arms off and-"
"I know, I know," Dru looked at her husband and tried to promise she would keep her threats to herself, "I won't shove them down your throat. Or your ears. Or up your-THORA! HELLO!"
Thora provided a wonderful momentary distraction for them, happy and full of lots and LOTS of sugar. She seemed a little too proud to be proclaiming that, but she had promised to behave when she 'slept over' with Rana and Thorin.
Kili adored his niece. She was so much like Dru and Fili but also had her own personality. He yearned for children just like her and hoped his and Tauriel's future ones would be just as wonderful and full of life and love.
"Oh, balls-Mummy didn't say balls," Dru quickly corrected herself but Thora had ears like a hawk.
"You did."
"I didn't, I was saying Balls...oh, nevermind," she waved her hand and handed her cup to a passing servant, "I just remembered, I wanted to go see Marigold before it got too late."
"Off to sneak some more carrots even though she's already been fed?" Fili pointed out but Dru wasn't having any of it.
"It's not about the food, it's about attention. I'm not allowed to ride her so I rarely get a chance to see her now, so I'd like to spend time with her so she knows I HAVEN'T forgotten her."
But whilst that was true, she also seemed to have a big fat carrot stuffed in her pocket, the end protruding out so Fili could see it.
"You spoil that horse sometimes."
"She's saved my life a good few occasions."
Dru left them to it and Thora began her nonsense again, this time bringing Uncle 'Ki' into it by demanding he venture under the table with her so he could carry more pastries.
And...since no one was paying attention to them anyway, he happily obliged her, though Fili decided he was a little too old for shenanigans and stayed standing to the side, only his boots visible to the others.
Kili and Thora made him promise to signal when trouble approached, but there wasn't to be trouble that evening.
At least...not what they expected, anyway.
An hour later...
Kili and Thora HAD eventually been plucked out from under the table, though Dis had apparently got wind of her granddaughter's sugar intake that evening and was demanding to see her and make sure she didn't throw up on anyone's shoes.
Kili had been plucked out because Fili had finally come up with a plan for him to talk to Legolas.
Cleverly, once they'd tracked him down, Kili took one side and Fili the other and before the Mirkwood Prince could make an excuse, they effectively boxed him in with both conversation and their bodies.
They thought it was going very AND that they may have been making some ground with Legolas, but blasted Gimli seemed to cause another drunken commotion across the way and taking his opportunity, Legolas slipped away and disappeared before they even could register he was gone.
"Ah well, I tried," Kili shrugged and was content to tell Tauriel exactly that, but he'd managed a few more sentences with his brother's help, "thanks Fi'."
"Anytime, you'd do the same for me if Dru asked me to do something. Speaking of," he glanced over his shoulder and frowned, "where is she? She better not have snuck off to bed."
"Nah, she's probably still in the stables, brushing every inch of Marigold and begging her forgiveness for leaving her alone for so long," Kili lowered his voice and got a cheeky idea, "want to go catch her out? She'll probably be about to shampoo the old girl's hair if we're lucky enough."
So it was, Kili and Fili 'snuck off' by themselves and headed towards the stables.
Minus a few guards stationed about, no one was really wandering the vast halls that night, either being in the party or in bed.
Once they got to the stables, they looked about them and found Dru's horse and...well, no Dru.
"Strange," Kili looked about him, not spotting her amongst the other stalls or horses, "she said-"
"Kili, Fili! Come quick, I'm here!"
Both rushed over when they head the urgency in her voice and coming around the corner to one of the vacant stalls, found Dru half lying and half sitting on the hay, panting and clutching at her belly.
"Dru?!" Fili fell down to his wife's side to aide her and pulled her against himself, "what's wrong?!"
Sweating and obviously in pain, she clung onto him and grimaced.
"The babe! They're early! I tried to get up but it's too late. I thought the pains earlier were a false warning, but-AH!"
Kili felt a little faint as his sister suddenly let out a familiar, pained scream and held onto her husband's arm. He'd only ever heard her like this from the other side of a door so getting his own personal show was a little too much.
Fili had been ready to pick her up and carry her out, but...that wasn't going to happen.
The babe would not wait, anyone could see that.
Resting her back against the hay and smoothing back her hair, Fili soothed her the best he could.
"It's alright, I'm right here!" He looked back at his brother and nodded his head towards the exit, "Go get a midwife!"
Kili did not even hesitant. He turned and ran out, just as Dru let out another loud scream, Fili's voice telling her that help was on its way.
Kili ran as fast as his little legs could carry him.
He didn't stop to talk to guards or send anyone else for help, knowing time was pressing. He would go straight to the hall and find a midwife himself.
As soon as he entered the festival hall, he skidded to a halt, which must have been quite a comedic sight because a small crowd turned to him.
But he only looked at them to see if Bodil or Helga was amongst them.
He went back and forth between people, gently pushing his way through but it was no luck.
He couldn't waste time like this, his baby sister needed him!
'If only I could command people's attention like Thorin. Wait a minute!'
Kili looked for his Uncle and found him next to Rana and his own mother.
He ran straight over, slightly breathless as his heart began to pound.
"Kili?" His mother saw him first and squinted in surprise, "you look like you've seen a ghost. What have you done?"
For the first time in his life, he ignored his mother's question and looked straight at Thorin.
"It's Dru. She's stuck in the stables," he took a deep breath when Thorin looked ready to run off himself, "the babe is coming. Now."
Rana quickly took the cup from her husband when his shoulders tensed and Kili witnessed the great power his Uncle held.
Without any hesitation, he took a step away from his group and bellowed, "I need any midwife here. Now."
The entire hall fell silent.
And waited.
A few heartbeats passed before there was a slight commotion as the crowd parted.
"Out of the way Boldin, your arse is blocking me in!" Bodil shoved her way through until she came to stand before the King and dropped into a customary curtsy, "your majesty requires a midwife."
"The Princess is in labour. Come with me," he gestured for her to follow and soon, a small procession was heading out of the hall.
The King, his nephew, his sister, his midwife and a small group of guards were marching out, Rana electing to stay behind and keep the festivities going since she was the Queen.
Kili was a little frustrated they were marching at such a slow pace, but Bodil was trying to quell his fears, even when he explained about the short time she'd started getting her pains.
"She said she got slight pains earlier but thought they were false alarms again. She left over an hour ago."
"An hour can be too short a time. Childbirth takes hours, sometimes a whole day and night."
Kili hated to point out the ONE fact he'd remembered from reading those birthing books.
"But don't some come quickly? It's rare but a possibility, particularly in the second birth?"
"Yes but," Bodil huffed and picked up her skirts, hurrying a bit quicker now, "I'm hoping that's not the bloody case."
When they reached the staircase leading down to the stable, Kili was surprised he could no longer hear Dru screaming.
"She was in here with Fili," he pushed open the door and listened, "but why isn't she screaming about ripping his limbs off?!"
Just as everyone bustled in, a shout sounded out from the same corner Dru had been earlier.
"Here!"
It was Fili. So they were still here. But was Dru alright?! Has she passed out?!
Kili felt his panic rise but when he came around the corner with his Uncle and Bodil, he felt his heart swell at the sight he saw.
The babe apparently could not wait.
Because in Dru's arms, wrapped in his father's best shirt, was a teeny little baby boy.
He seemed to be fast asleep and as for Dru, she looked red and exhausted but blissfully happy.
Fili knelt beside her and untucked his arm from around her shoulders, smiling proudly up a the newcomers.
"Everyone," he said a little smugly, "Bror decided he wanted to crash the party."
"But-but-but-how?!" Kili looked dumbstruck at the sight before him.
Fili moved aside as Dru cooed over their boy and made way for Bodil to come and inspect them both.
He got a hearty slap from his Uncle on the back and stood before Kili with his hands clasped behind his back.
"Right after you left, it was evident the babe wasn't going to wait. So," he shrugged casually but definitely said with a huge amount of pride, "I did it."
Kili smirked back and immediately pulled his brother into a crushing hug, slapping him on the back heartily.
"Bloody Mahal, you delivered your own child into this world!"
"Kili, watch your language in front of the babe or I'll box your ears off!" His mother tutted but there was no heart behind her threat. She was too busy looking at Fili with big, watery eyes.
"You did SO well," she pulled him close and gave him an awkward kiss since he and Kili were still hugging, "so well! Look at your lad! Thora's going to love him!"
"Is she still in the hall? I meant to ask earlier but...well, I got a little distracted," Dru let herself be prodded and checked over by Bodil, though Fili had already taken care of the mess and everything.
"She passed out when Dwalin took her for a dance. I think the sugar finally wore off," Dis huffed aggrievedly, wondering how her granddaughter had gotten so much sugar, "but that'll be for you to deal with tomorrow after your rest. Come on, young lady, let's get you BOTH to bed!"
Kili moved forward and offered to take Bror as everyone carefully helped Dru stand.
As soon as she was on her feet, however, it was evident that she wasn't going to get far, so Fili swung his wife up into his arms and decided to carry her back to their rooms.
"You've got my boy, Ki'?"
Kili nodded and proceeded to walk out, leading the odd procession back into Erebor.
The festivities had obviously been shadowed because a lot more people were wondering the halls above and below them.
As soon as Fili and Dru came into sight, a small murmur broke out and one small voice cried, "Is the Princess well?!"
Thorin, asking Dru silently for the permission with a little gaze, turned around and beamed down at those as he passed.
"The Princess is well! We are escorting her back to her rooms...with her new son!"
The murmurs quickly turned to cheers and well wishes and Kili couldn't help but feel a little smug as he carried his nephew towards his parent's room.
"Just wait until your old enough to appreciate this," he spoke to little Bror, his heartwarming as he spoke his father's name once again, "and just wait until Thora meets you, Bror. She's going to spoil you rotten."
Xx Kili's Chambers xX
When Kili FINALLY got back to his room, he shut his door and leaned his back against the wood.
He was exhausted.
Drained but happy.
He'd gotten his cuddles, he'd bid goodnight to all AND he'd gotten to see Dwalin carrying Thora back, covered in sugary powder.
He loved his family and his friends.
But at last, he was were he REALLY wanted to be.
Or at least, he was with someone he really wanted to be with.
"My Love?"
He turned and looked towards the door to his bathroom, seeing Tauriel duck low under the doorway and re-enter his chambers.
Gods, she was breath-taking.
In the darkened room, with only candlelight around them, she seemed to glow ethereally.
Her deep green nightgown contrasted beautifully against her skin and her long hair was currently over one shoulder as she undid her thick braid.
"You are a wonderful sight for sore eyes," he grinned and walked towards her, pulling off his coat as he did so, "I'm sorry I had to dash out earlier, we had a...well a spectacular emergency."
"People were talking," Tauriel stepped closer until she could rest her hand on his shoulder and look down at him, "so, how does it feel to have another little dwarfling to dote over?"
"Brilliant," Kili answered honestly and placed his hands on her hips, "but I'm bloody knackered, so can we talk about it in bed?"
Her amused, soft laugh was like music to his ears.
"Of course."
Kili WAS going to save it until they were laid out in bed and ready to sleep, but he still found himself pouring out what Fili had done and how they'd found Dru even as he clambered in next to his beloved.
Kili was not one for decorum. Whilst Tauriel had insisted on always wearing a nightdress in bed, she ALSO insisted he wore nothing at all.
She enjoyed searching and spreading her fingers out along his body, smoothing over every little crease and crevice that she wanted to explore.
"My love," she asked quietly as her fingers gently tickled over his hip bone and stayed there, drawing lazy circles on his skin, "does it make you wish...that you could have children of your own? To see your brother and sister so happy?"
"Sometimes. Sometimes, Thora exhausts me to the point I can't wait to give her back at the end of the day. But," he hissed in pleasure as her fingers moved over his cock and tried to concentrate, "I know for us, it will be different. Our child will be different."
Her hands stilled against him and he opened his eyes that he hadn't realised he'd shut.
"If we have them. I know it may be...difficult for us," Tauriel had that familiar sadness in her eyes and Kili reached out to soothe her, "we may not be able to at all."
"We will, Amrâlimê," he pushed himself up and leant on his elbow to look directly at her, "it will be hard but...I talked to Bodil. That woman may be old fashioned, but she didn't lie."
"But...what if?"
Kili could see the uncertainty in her ears. The waiting for their marriage was slowly eating away at her because whispers had carried around the mountain and reached her ears.
She was unsuitable.
He should marry a noble Dwarrowdam.
The line of Durin should not be sullied.
He'd been filled with such rage when he found out, he had threatened to track down these gossipers and cut their tongues out.
How DARE they!
Not just because of what was said, but because Tauriel had heard them and began to doubt herself.
Doubt their love?
His hand came up to cup her cheek and he stroked the fine, almost marble-like skin beneath his fingers.
"Then we'll be together and it will only be us. And I will need no other love, besides yours," his mind was suddenly clearer and he beamed at her, "no more waiting. No more putting it off. Marry me. Tomorrow."
Her eyes widened momentarily at his proclamation and she seemed...well, almost stupified.
"But what about your mother's plans? All the preparations?" Tauriel had been 'planning' things out with his mother, though he would be lying if he said that Dis wasn't taking most of the jobs for herself.
"We don't need that. Any of that. Dru and Fili had a small ceremony because Thorin allowed it, but...he is not as close to me as he is to her. Nor really, to Fili," he smirked and winked, "that might actually be in our favour. It won't matter too much if...well, the youngest Prince goes missing for a bit."
She blinked at him a couple of times and then shared his sneaky smile.
He'd been such a terrible influence on her and her 'wild ways' had come out, so now whenever he had a plan, she'd usually go along with it also.
"Missing? I love the way you think, my Prince," she managed to get out before she pushed herself forward and kissed him the way he loved.
When they made love that night, his fingers skimming over her skin as she rode him, they both knew that nothing would keep them apart.
Especially when it would just be the two of them.
Xx The Next Day xX
All of Erebor was abuzz, but not because of the royal birth.
No, that news had only lasted for a couple of hours before the REAL gossip took precedence.
'Ran off during the night!'
'Snuck out of the mountain!'
'Only left a note for his mother and Uncle!'
'Both FUMING I heard!'
The youngest Prince, the nephew to Thorin and son of Dis, had scarpered during the night with his bride-to-be and had only left a simple, sweet goodbye letter.
He had, of course, promised to return AND promised to stay in contact once they'd reached a safe distance away (somewhere where they would not hear Dis' shouts of fury once she'd discovered what they'd done), but had also not disclosed their destination.
Only the knowledge that by the time the sun had set on that day, they would have found a quiet place to be married.
Of course, not ALL the gossip was entirely accurate.
Dis HAD been cross for about an hour, but once Thora had 'sat her down' and told her that she was glad Uncle Ki' and Auntie Tori were going to be happy and off adventuring, she had calmed down a little (if only for her sake).
Thorin was not actually mad at all, but he did hideout with his wife until Dis calmed down encase she decided to direct her ire towards him.
The only ones that seemed in a tizz were the council members, but Rana deemed their opinion unimportant.
Fili and Dru had maintained a dignified silence on the matter, claiming that they were distracted by their beautiful new boy.
And that was partly true.
But really? They were so happy for him and Tauriel.
Their brother deserved a simple love also.
And Kili knew that.
Even if he wasn't with them for that short amount of time, he knew how much they cared for him.
And he vowed that when he returned, he would bring home not only his beloved wife but a child also.
