A cop car and two officers were hit/destroyed by a commie rocket. Civilians were knocked hard to the ground. This gave me the opening I needed... I fired a rocket at the enemy group - a fire team - that had done this. The rocket hit the lead commie assaulter and blew him and his teammates to pieces and thus ended their advance. I took to the low air and flew fast for that hole in the perimeter to shore it up again. I arrived/landed there fast before the enemy could exploit the opening. By now many civilians around the city capital building had come to their senses and let self preservation get them the hell out of there.

This exposed an enemy van for safe targeting... I fired a missile at it and destroyed it and the enemy that used it for cover. Heavy responders were coming in fast but the goal was to get this contained before that was needed. I wasn't concerned with lasso interrogations because Mandarin would prevent them from knowing the truth so it couldn't be revealed. Nope. The only way to deal with this was to keep fighting it out wherever it occurred.

It was then that I saw Pete swing in - and as Iron Spider no doubt. He crashed into another enemy van head on and destroyed it. That left one. The cops were quick to seize the offensive initiative on this and pushed forward to go at the third one. Pete landed next to me and waited at my side as we let the cops have this one. The cops shot down the remaining enemy right as the cavalry showed up.

"I heard about the trouble hon..." "It's cool Pete. Thanks for coming." He took my hand and we dissolved our helmets. "I know how much you love the lab..." "It's okay Di. I get why you went in without me." I gave a small nod. Nothing else bad seemed to be coming in for the moment. It was another hit/run come and gone. This type of war would be full of that; sudden intense and brief.

"These people are truly crazy," said Peter. "They attack so fearlessly without any care for their own lives." I nodded. "That's what brainwashed/brain dead people do, sweetheart. Don't ever forget it." He scoffed. "I won't." He shook his head. "I mean, I'm liberal...but this is just freaking insane." We wrapped an arm around each other. "Whatever they were Pete they aren't any longer. This mind rot killed their minds long ago." "Do you think it was like Mandarin doing demonic possession or anything like that?" "No; this was just good old fashioned fanaticism at its typical worst. When they say you don't negotiate with terrorists this is why - there's nothing to negotiate with. They have no honor and can't be trusted; ever. They can only be killed or captured; and if the latter they should never be released."

"This is much more complicated than a simple bank robbery." I nodded slowly. "Yes it is." He looked at me. "You've seen this too many times before haven't you?" I scoffed. "Right on babe." "Is your devil brother involved in this?" My eyes narrowed a little in focus at that. "No; this is all Mandarin from what I can see." Peter scoffed. "Whatever happened to being a part time superhero? We need to be one full time now." "Welcome to the crazy world called planet earth where sanity went extinct with the dodo and the dinosaur." "No kidding."
