Armor got into the car. "You can have a different future if you so wish," said Jean. "It's really up to you." Armor looked out the window; she was seated next to me in the back. "Why me?" "It wasn't by coincidence Armor...we're X men. We have ways of detecting powerful X genes - genes that you both possess and proved." Armor looked at Jean. "And I can really offer something to the X men?" "Of course. It will take time and training, but it was also true for me and Scott here and many others yet. X men aren't born; they're made."

I could tell that Armor had been happy to a point being at the art school...but there was definitely something missing from her life. You're right said Jean into my thoughts. I gave Jean a small nod. Scott said, "Armor, you don't need to make any big decisions yet. Just come and see the campus; get a feel for it. Meet others your own age. You can make a home there..."

As they talked Honor alerted me to something... It came from both air and ground. I called the mystical black hammer to my hand. "What is it?" said Jean. It was too late. "Get down!" I was out of the car... I saw them closing in fast...missiles. I brought up Honor and shot out forking lighting at them; I blew them to bits. Lasers came in from the ground; Honor put up an energy barrier that blocked them entirely. Honor scanned over them. Sentinels...the eternal robotic enemy of the X men. But these weren't anything like the sentinels I'd heard about. They looked human and blended in. Probably some kind of nano tech...

Jean was out of the car next and mentally hurling whatever she could at them. Scott was out too and firing optic blasts at the aerial sentinels. Armor, initially scared...got out with us rather quick and donned her energy armor. She went ahead at the sentinels; and ahead of us. We cursed this part of her youth/inexperience; but it also hinted at her potential. She charged at a few sentinels and used her energy fists to smash them to pieces.

Jean took to the air on telekinetic currents and surged at them. She blocked attacks with environmental objects; she always stayed a few steps ahead. I took to the air with Honor to help Scott deal with the air threats now that we were a newly formed X team it now seemed. As I flew towards the rapidly closing sky sentinels Scott's concussive beams blew some to pieces and only glanced off the bodily shields of others. I was at those others he hadn't destroyed soon enough. I smashed my hammer into one to send it falling to the ground in many pieces.

I then summoned tornado strength winds to knock the other sentinels off course for the mutant group. That was the distraction I needed... I shot out natural lightning from the sky and it destroyed that group then/there. Yes!

"Alala!" I shouted the Greek battle cry and brought Honor's wrath where I needed to. Magical/natural lightning tore into the sentinels and blew them to pieces. The X men fought anyway; but Honor came through yet again. They finished off the last sentinels as I hovered in the air above them to deal out more punishment if needed. When all seemed well again we pulled back into the shadows before the fuzz showed up.

"Jesus," said Scott; "we haven't dealt with them in a long time." Jean gave a slow nod. "Too long." I looked over at Armor as we drove through the nighttime Bostonian interior. "Sure you still want to be an X man now?" She looked at me from the window at my posed query of her. She nodded slowly. "I do." Hell; that's all we could ask for for now.
