We were nearing the end of our Hand debrief when Iceman entered the mansion with two new recruits of his own - Dust and Sabra. Dust still wore the niqab...and likely due to modest/virtuous dressing. She'd been rescued from Afghanistan from jihadist slave traders. Yet she still wore that disgusting death cult getup... As I said before - I hated Islam. Ares had created it in my home reality as a means of creating endless war and cruelty. Raven saw my disgust. "Diana, are you okay?" Dust looked at me from the small hole in her face veil that allowed her eyes to see me. I looked away. "Diana?" "I'm sorry Raven; it's complicated."

Iceman and Dust walked away; Sabra came over to us. "Hello. I'm Sabra." I extended a hand to her. "Shalom." She smiled a little and shook my hand; then Raven's. "Shalom. May I join you?" "Sure." Sabra waited a moment before saying what was really on her mind. "The professor...gave me some insight about you, wonder woman." I raised a brow/nodded. "Did he?" She nodded. "Yeah. He said you had strong feelings about Islam..." I sighed and leaned back in my chair. "That's one way of putting it." "He also told me about the long history you have with my people - at least in your home reality." "That's true."

Sabra sighed. "My...test to be an X man was whether or not I could set my personal prejudices about Islam aside to save another mutant. For Dust I did that." I saw where she was going with this. "I can understand that Sabra..." "With respect wonder woman - I'd say both yes and no to that." "Maybe, but it's not just because of my personal past with Islam. I'm also an amazon; culturally speaking Islam and amazons don't mix." "But we're all X men here...aren't we?" "My husband and I aren't mutants." "Did that stop the professor from making you members?" "No." Sabra nodded. "Dust and I have already spoken at length...we are not at odds. If we can do it - then certainly you can too."

Raven looked at me. "She makes good points Diana." "Islam is no better than the Hand in my view. That's what I meant about death cults earlier Raven." "I gathered that; but Sabra's right. As X men we need to rise above that. Otherwise how are we any better than the villains we stand against. You believed in me when others wouldn't. Let us believe in you; in us." "I appreciate that, from both of you. We've all just met, but we are going far together in a short time. Still...I've seen Islam do great damage to so many."

They'd only seen/heard the noble side of me; the WW side; but I was flawed too. I too could be hateful about certain things and people. But when it came to Islam - an enslaving force and infinite persecutor of womankind - something my mother/aunt had risked everything to fight against - there was no greater sense of betrayal than giving in to this...which I could/would not do. Too many brave - men and women - had given their lives to prevent Islam's spread. It was a matter of honor for me now.

They weren't reaching me as I had them. Raven set her hand over mine. "You told me only love can save the world Diana." "That's right." "Maybe you should heed your own advice more." Sabra took my other hand. "We are all in this together. Meet Dust. We'll be there with you if you want." I gave a slow, super reluctant, nod. "All right. I'm not making any promises though." "We understand," said Sabra. "Just give it a chance." "A chance."
