Stalking Him

Another day in a miserable Inkopolis.

Mindy looks out of her window of her apartment. It's raining outside, she sees the raindrops falling down the window. She thinks back to that day when she was talking with Mark.

I wonder how he is. Should I check up on him?

Mindy walks away from the window. She walks over to her coat hanger, looking for her jacket.

As she takes the black jacket, she puts it on. As she zips it up, she unlocks her door. She then leaves her apartment, walking down the hall.

Walking around the Square while it's raining makes the city more drained and faded.

Mindy has on her hood, hiding a bit of her face from the tons of strangers around her. She has no business in talking to anyone else.

She just wants to talk to him.

As she walks down the familiar sidewalk, she looks up at the building.

The Inkopolis National Bank.

Entering the bank, she looks at the front desk from before.

He's not here?

Mindy sighs softly to herself. She walks out of the building, now seeing him walking down the sidewalk.

She smiles, waiting for him to walk away more, then she starts to follow him.

Waiting for the elevator to open, Mindy hums to herself.

As the doors open, she walks inside, pressing a button.

Arriving on the floor, she steps up, seeing Mark unlocking his apartment door. She walks behind him quietly.

Mark feels a presence but ignores it. Mindy smiles, pleading in her mind she will be led in.

"Who is behind me?"

Mindy's eyes widened. She stays silent, stepping back.

Mark turns around, looking at her in the eyes. "What are you doing, Mindy? Did you need something?"

She stares into his eyes. "I was just," she paused.

"Were you following me again?"

Mindy lowers her head. She nods, ashamed of herself.

Mark walks a little closer to her, picking her head up with his right hand. "Why were you following me?"

"I was wanting to make sure you were fine, that's all."

Mark smiles. "I'm completely fine, Mindy. No need to get worried about me."

Mindy becomes embarrassed, blushing red. She tries to hide her face with her hood. "I've been thinking about you all day. Sorry about bothering you." She begins to walk away.

"Hey!"

Mindy turns her head to look at the inkling.

"Do you wanna have a talk in your apartment?" Mark asks her.

Mindy nods.

"Is there anything wrong with you?" Mark asked, his voice filled with worry.

"A little," Mindy responds.

The two are sitting down on the couch.

Mindy continues to speak. "I'm a bit mentally ill, but it's really no big deal."

"How's that going for you? Have any medication?"

"They cutted the funds. I can't get it."

Mark looks away. "This is why I sometimes hate this damn city. People like you can't get any help."

"But," Mindy says, "I have a laughing condition. It makes me laugh at inappropriate times. It's horrible."

"Is that why you were coughing while laughing the last time I talked to you?"

Mindy nods. "I didn't want to start a laughing fit in front of you. I thought it would make you less fond of me."

"Why would I be less fond of you because of something you can't control, Mindy? You need to start thinking positive."

"I know," Mindy mutters to herself.

Mark sighs to himself. "I don't mean to be so hard on you, okay?" He suddenly scoots himself closer to her. "You are going to be okay." He then places his right arm around her shoulders.

Mindy looks at him. "I've never felt this close to someone before. Someone that I can actually talk to and not feel judged at."

"Well, it's a start, I guess." Mark smiles.

"Yeah," Mindy says, smiling back. "You're right about positive thinking. Actually, that's why I have been thinking that way a bit."

"Really?"

"Yeah, and I give credit to you, Mark. You gave me hope."

"Well, you are welcome," Mark says, chuckling softly.

I want to hear his laugh everyday.

"You can lay your head on my shoulder, I don't mind."

Mindy sighs, laying her head on his shoulder. She doesn't want to leave, ever. Her heart is pounding in her chest from the closeness they are sharing.

"Are you okay? You seem a little nervous," Mark says, looking at her.

"I'm fine, just enjoying this moment with you," she says, laughing a little.

Don't start a fit now. Calm down.

She gulps, trying to hold in her laughter.

Silence fills the room. The two don't speak during this moment. All of Mindy's worries wash away while she is close to him.

I love him.

She doesn't want to say it, it would make her seem creepy, or even clingy. She just stays silent, slowly closing her eyes.

Mark looks down at her, smirking. "Mindy, are you tired?"

Mindy hums. "What do you mean? I'm just resting my eyes."

Mark chuckles. "Whatever you say, Mindy."

This moment lasts for a while. Time has passed by, the two not even checking it. After a moment, the two have already closed their eyes, falling slowly asleep.

Mindy groans in her sleep, moving her arms to wrap them around the inkling's body.

Mark hums softly, moving his right arm to wrap around her.

Don't mutter anything, at all.

She smiles, sighing softly.

The next morning.

The two are sleeping on the couch. They had moved around, just to get themselves comfortable.

Mindy was sleeping on top of Mark, smiling.

An alarm clock went off in the bedroom. Mark groans at the noise, rubbing his eyes.

Mindy is still asleep.

Mark yawns, looking down at his body. He sees Mindy sleeping on top of him. His eyes widened.

"Hey, you awake?"

Mark shakes her shoulders.

Mindy mutters, groaning in her sleep. She then yawns, her eyes slowly opening. She then sits up, rubbing her eyes. "Did I fall asleep?"

"Yeah, you did. No worries, I did, too," Mark says, sitting up. "I should be going back to my apartment." He gets up from the couch, looking at Mindy.

"Alright, I'll see you another time," Mindy said.

Mark chuckles softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah. Bye."

Mark walks out of the apartment, muttering to himself.
