Chapter-7
Dark and empty, it was the only two things that were required to describe his current location, he floated around the place, that was until he felt something in his head, something warm and it was getting hotter, it was very hot now he screeched as loud as he could, the pain travelled from his head to his eyes which were closed due to the pain. He opened his eyes, bright rays of light stabbing his eyes like a pincushion, he squint his eyes trying to adjust to the brightness, his enhanced eyes quickly recovered and presented to him a face with sharp and delicate features.
'Are you the nurse?' he asked in High Gothic, there was no reply, he looked at her, her expression was neutral, the golden orbs that were her eyes combined with her platinum blonde hair seem to convey another message other than neutrality. He looked at her closely this time, her eyes were pointed to a tip like a knife, the realization of who she was, what he was doing and how he came to be here, he tried to shove her out of the way when he realized he was held down by multiple binds and was wearing nothing other then his underwear ,
'I really screwed the pooch on this one, didn't I lady?' he asked in English knowing fully that she wouldn't understand, as predicted the Eldar tilted her head sideways in confusion and finally spoke, 'I am going to ask you some questions Monkiegh, it will do you good if you answer them truthfully and say nothing else'.
Nick frowned; there were so many things that could spill from his mind, knowledge about Subspace, Helena and most importantly the fact that the Universe he was in was nothing more than a board game back home. So many things could go wrong, so he had to play his cards right,
'Who are you Monkiegh and which master do you serve?' she asked, Nick stayed silent and said nothing, the Eldar's eyes glowed with power and his head was in pain again, a thousand knives entered in and out of his head and scraped across all the surfaces of his mind simultaneously, he tried to concentrate on something else but the pain made it rather hard. After half an hour his tormentor decided to stop, he caught his breath and decided to tell the Eldar his name at the least,
'My name...is Nicholas, also known as Santa Clause or Commander Clause' he took another deep breath to slow his breathing then continued, 'As for my master, I serve none but Mankind' the pain started again as she said,
'Do not lie Monkiegh, we have seen your equipment, not a single Aquila, Mechanicus Cog or Inqusition symbol on them' Nick let out a cry of pain then gritted his teeth.
'I already told...Nnngh you who I am, what reason do I have to lie?' the pain increased twofold, 'Lies! Your companions are members of the infamous traitor legions that have plagued the Galaxy, so I ask again which servant of the Ruinious powers do you work for?'
Her brow was now quirked upwards in a manner that told him that she was annoyed, another wave of pain washed over him as he struggled against his bonds, she was in his mind now tearing through his memories of the past few hours, acting on instinct Nick immediately collected his pre forty second millennium memories and ran to the other side of his mind but the Eldar sensed him, she was faster and there in a flash. The fight over the memories immediately turned into a game of tug of war which he was losing badly, she pulled, releasing her entire psychic might against him, Nick could best an Eldar at combat and strategy due to his modifications but he was not prepared for something like this.
Sending another wave of pain at her she snatched the memories from him and used her powers to hold his consciousness in place, she went through the memories like a wood chipper but strangely enough the memories aboutall the time with Helena and him collecting and painting miniatures was blacked out, it was as if he could not remember them at all, at last she spoke,
'Well Monkiegh it seems you are telling the truth...about your name at least' she hesitated a bit before speaking again, 'The technologies you have in your possession are most disturbing indeed, hmm...' she went through his memories of him travelling through via the Slipspace drive and him operating the AMP Mark-IV.
'Your Mechanicus dreams of such technology, we would know for I myself have personally destroyed many of your so precious STCs after going through their contents' she further increased the pain in his mind.
'A final question Monkiegh, and then I may consider it my worth my while to end your pathetic existence' the pain was not just in his mind but it was in his body now,
'Where did you acquire your STC? And where did you store it?'
Nick didn't answer, he closed his eyes readying himself for another bout of pain... but it never came. Instead the Eldar jumbled all his memories together and then smirked,
'Answer my questions you filthy animal! Or your memories are gone'
Nick remained silent; he wasn't going to give up on his friends now, his previous life may not have been lived in a righteous manner but he could at least make up for the lack of good deeds in this one, pain flare again in his head,
'I don't know' he replied through clenched teeth.
'Fine you leave me no choice'
With that she started burning through his memories, ripping them off one by one and then using her psychic power to erase them from his mind, the process went on, first his family, old friends, his likes and dislikes, she ripped off larger parts of his personality, all except his core ones as those would just drive him mad. Satisfied after wiping it all clean she sat down and let out a breath, though she dared not show it but she was completely exhausted from the day's events and the human had much more willpower than she had anticipated so breaking him would be hard for her.
'Think! Think! Come on! Try to remember Nick, they're your family you can't forget them right?' he doubted himself now, 'Riiiiiiiight?'
Farseer Ameria entered the chamber; she had a rather stressful day. Twenty two Eldar lives had been lost in attacking the strange humans and to add salt to the wound; their spirits stones were missing presumably stolen or destroyed as they were not recovered on the bodies. She needed a distraction so she came here to see how the young warlock had fared so far, she turned her attention to the human on the table, he was huge even by Space Marine standards, and the fact that she saw him survive being devoured whole by a servant of She- Who –Thirsts, putting herself in that situation brought shivers down her spine.
'Farseer I am honoured that you'd grace me with your presence, I take it that this is not a social call?' Ameria let out an annoyed huff,
'Drop the pleasantries Interrogator, how goes the extraction of information?'
At that the warlock's mood considerably dropped, she told her about how she asked questions at first but then when he didn't answer she had to use force, she told the Farseer of the human's name, his assumed rank, his companions and how he admitted to keeping company from traitor legions, Ameria simply nodded, though she detested collecting information in this manner but she could not doubt its effectiveness.
'I suppose that is good enough for now' Ameria crossed her arms, 'But tell me Interrogator, how exactly do you know the information you collected is useful. The interrogator replied rather chirpily,
'I threatened to burn his memories if he refused to tell me everything he knew, he did not answer so I slowly eradicated his memories one by one. Still he did nothing despite all of this' she gave the human a smile after finishing,
Ameria blinked, 'You did what?', 'Well he would not listen so I burned away what he held most precious to him that is his memories of his family and his youth' she replied.
Ameria was shocked beyond words; this could not be happening to her, it was just like her vision. She wanted to deny it but the evidence was out in front of her eyes, first it was the amusement the warriors of her Warhost had acquired by tormenting the human girl, now her Interrogator had also clearly enjoyed hurting the human in front of her. It was as she feared, it was like many feared, their race was clearly running out of time and now they would all slowly fall into the decadent madness that had overtaken their ancestors, her vision had come true it had long been a topic of discussion among the seer council, she needed to return to their Craftworld. She looked at the human's face, it was blank all emotion seemed to be drained from his face, the Interrogator moved to her side, she frowned and a moment later her eyes shone with power and a moment later the human started screaming in pain again,
'Is this not better Farseer? The Monkiegh writhing under...' she raised her foot and pushed down the heel of her shoe into the human's right eye, he howled in pain, '...Our heels, as it is their rightful place among the other primitives of the galaxy' the Interrogator's pupils were now dilated and her breathing had become heavy as she pushed her heel further destroying the human's eye and letting out a moan. Farseer Ameria grabbed her and delivered a slap across her face,
'Look at yourself! You are acting no better than the Drukhari that you despise so much', the woman broke out of her trance and looked at her hands and then at the human,
'By Isha! What have I become?' she managed to mutter out despite the volume of her voice,
'Pull yourself together Interrogator! I swear in the name of our Mother Isha I will not let you fall to darkness' the woman nodded in reply but rather weakly.
'Good! Now go and send a message to the Seer Council, tell them to prepare for a council meeting'
The Interrogator nodded again, 'What reason shall I give Farseer?', the Farseer seemed to slip out of reality for a moment before returning her attention to her, 'Tell them our worst fears have come true, they will understand' she nodded again and bolted out of the room wanting to get as much as distance as possible between the Interrogation Chamber and her.
'And here I thought you Eldar are supposed to be evolved and civilised, yet that Eldar who just bolted off was no better than a Succubus' he started laughing, his eye had already sealed close, much akin to advanced healing possessed by Space Marines,
'I Presume you want to know something, otherwise you would have left already' he laughed again, 'Humour me and ask it already the suspension is killing me' he opened his right eye only to close it in pain,
'That device you had set of in that spire, the small cubical object...' she gulped again, 'Tell me does it really kill Daemons?' she knew she sounded desperate but she couldn't care at this point.
The human grimaced, 'What if I refused? What more can you take from me?' Ameria did not want to reply; after all having one's memories erased was not something you forgive easily. The man laughed maniacally
'If you really want to know, yes it does kill Daemons. Theoretically at least, we never got to see the end result' he let out a small laugh.
Ameria pondered upon it, what she felt in that spire was indeed real, a being of immaterial nature being ripped apart and burned. These humans did indeed posses technology capable of fighting back against the Ruinious Powers, she had to figure out how it worked perhaps she could cut a deal with him, yes; she would discuss it with the seer council, a few scraps of foresight in exchange for Daemon killing technology. But another thing bothered her how this human recovered from the emotional trauma of having the memories he held dear, humans did not feel emotions like Eldar did even though this human or the rest of the Monkiegh species felt like her race did, he should at the very least be inconsolable as of the moment,
'I have a deal human, you will come with us to our Craftworld teach us about this device. After we have managed to learn what we can about it I will set you free'
The human looked at her with his Eyebrow raised, 'I don't have a choice, and I'm guessing you probably brought along my friend in case I did not prove to be useful' the Farseer's mask faltered for a moment but she managed to regain her composure and replied curtly
'You seem to be quite observant; I should do well to be careful in your presence and a final question Mon- ... human' the man gave her a cold glare, she continued anyway,
'Your recovery from the emotional trauma was impressive really, what was it? Your Faith in your Emperor? Your honour?, Someone you wanted to return to?' the human continued to glare at her and then finally opened his mouth to speak,
'I am and always have been...' he paused for a moment then continued 'A struggler'
