"How do I look?" Lacey asked, smoothing out her dress as she examined her outfit in the motel room mirror.
"You look amazing." Dean told her, his eyes roaming over the black maxi dress that was hugging her figure. She smiled at him.
"Sam, is this appropriate for a christening?" She asked, straightening the large diamante necklace she was wearing.
"I've never been to one but I don't see why not, you look great, Lace." Sam and Dean were both wearing their FBI suits. Lacey sat down on the bed and began to put her heels on. She stood back up, obsessively straightening her dress again.
"Ok, ready?" She asked, picking up her bag.
"Let's go." Sam took one of her arms and Dean the other and she teleported them out of the motel room and to the front hall of her parents house.
"Hello?" She called, walking towards the kitchen.
"Oh good, you're here!" Ann called from the landing as she made her way down the stairs.
"Hey, Mom." Lacey smiled and gave her a hug when she reached the bottom. "You look lovely." Her mother beamed happily. She was wearing a lavender skirt and suit jacket, a large purple hat adorned with flowers sat on her head.
"Thank you dear. My, don't you two look dapper." Ann smiled at the boys.
"Thanks for inviting us, Mrs McNulty." Sam said, smiling down at Ann.
"Oh you're quite welcome, although Amy was the one in charge of the guest list. Ahh here she is now." Amy came out of the kitchen holding Rian in her arms.
"Hey guys! So glad you could make it!" Amy beamed at them.
"We wouldn't miss this for the world." Lacey cooed, holding out her hand to Rian who grasped her fingers.
"Why's he wearing a dress?" Dean muttered in her ear as she straightened up.
"I don't know, why's he wearing a dress?" Lacey asked. Amy laughed.
"It's a christening gown, all babies wear them." Lacey looked at Dean and the two shrugged. "Actually I was hoping to ask a favour. Amy handed Rian to Ann and motioned them to follow her into the living room. "So as you know Tony's Mom is the one insisting we have this christening in the first place." Amy rolled her eyes. "And now she's trying to force us to have one of their family friends as Rian's godfather. I barely know him. He's just the son of some entitled socialite that Tony's Mom wants to impress. So, I was hoping Dean would maybe like to be Rian's godfather instead?" She looked at Dean pleadingly. Dean's eyes widened in surprise.
"Really? You want me to do it? Are you sure there isn't anyone else?"
"I'm most definitely not asking Brendan. Sure we have some friends we could ask, but I'd rather it was the two of you together." Amy shrugged. "Plus then if anything ever happened to both Tony and I, I'd make the two of you his guardians and I'd be more comfortable knowing you guys would take care of him."
"If you're sure, yeah I'll do it." Dean smiled at her.
"Plus, I want to make Tony's mother really annoyed when she finds out." Amy said as she got to her feet. "The car should be here to pick us up shortly. I'm gonna go grab Tony and Dad from the back lawn, they just had to test out some new golf club this morning." She rolled her eyes and went to find them.
"You don't have to do this if you don't want to." Lacey told him, once Amy had left.
"It's cool, I mean, I don't know how good I'll be at it, but I'm happy to do it." Dean shrugged.
"Dean, you save the world, I think that's a pretty good start." Lacey smiled at him.
"The car is here!" Ann called from the foyer. They headed out to meet her on the driveway. Amy, Tony and William joined them as well.
"Good morning." They shook hands with Sam and Dean before getting into the limousine with them.
They drove slowly to the church, the girls chatting away. When they arrived the driver came round and opened the door for them. As they walked into the church, Lacey took hold of Dean's hand and squeezed it.
"You ok?" Dean whispered.
"Yeah, just so many people I don't know."
"Oh, good, you're here." Came a sarcastic voice from behind them. They turned around to find Brendan standing behind them, looking less than impressed. Jenna was standing next to him in a pale pink, figure hugging mini dress and a giant fascinator that bounced in front of her face every time she moved. She was holding Truman in her arms, even though he didn't look particularly happy to be there. The toddler was decked out in a grey suit that made him look far too serious for a two year old.
"Hey." Dean held out his hand to shake Brendan's. Brendan just glared at him.
"Brendan! Behave!" Ann hissed at him as she and William approached them. Brendan rolled his eyes and grudgingly shook Dean's hand. Tony and Amy appeared with Rian as everyone began to migrate to their seats.
"So the priest will call you up when it's your turn and you just have to light a candle and repeat the words he reads to you." Amy told them. There was a lull in the crowd as an older woman stepped forward. She was wearing a peach suit and had a flowery hat balanced on her head.
"Hello, mother." Tony smiled at her, wilting slightly under the look of disapproval she levelled at him.
"Anthony, what is going on? I have had to keep Elizabeth and Rupert Crawford waiting. Where do you require poor Rupert?"
"We don't, actually, Marjorie." Amy butted in, hefting Rian on her hip.
"You don't?" Marjorie looked taken aback.
"Yes, we've asked Dean to step in, Mother." Tony nodded in Dean and Lacey's direction.
"Who?" Marjorie turned her withering gaze on them.
"Marjorie this is my sister Lacey and her boyfriend Dean." Amy introduced them.
"But I thought we discussed…."
"We decided to ask Dean as he's practically family, whereas we don't know Rupert at all." Amy told her.
"Well, really, I…"
"Ahhh, Mrs Frith, so nice to see you and your family." The priest who would be performing the ceremony appeared beside the group. "Are we ready to begin?"
"Hi Father Avery, yes I think so. This is my sister Lacey and her partner Dean, they are our chosen Godparents." Amy told him before Marjorie could get a word in.
"Splendid, splendid." Father Avery shook their hands. "Well then, unless anyone has any questions, if you'd all like to take your seats, we can get started with a hymn." Marjorie harrumphed but didn't say anything as she made her way to the pews on the other side of the church.
"Well, really." Ann shook her head. "Just because she wants a place on the Community Council. Mrs Crawford is head of the committee." She explained.
"I don't know why, she's just as rich as any of the other old bats that run the committee." Amy grumbled.
"Oh, I think it was an honorary thing, she saved something… Wales was it, or possibly England?" Ann mused. Amy began to giggle.
"She donated money to save a pod of whales, Mom."
"Oh, yes that was it." Ann nodded as they made their way to their seats.
"All good?" Sam asked, as they sat down beside him.
"I think so." Lacey shrugged as Father Avery started the ceremony.
The christening went off without a hitch, apart from Marjorie's scowling face in the family photos afterwards. Once they had finished at the church they got back in the limousine and were driven over to the Pine Hills Country Club where the reception was being held. Dean climbed out of the car, holding his hand out to help Lacey in her long dress.
"Thanks." She smiled up at him. Sam climbed out next followed by the rest of the family.
"I couldn't believe Marjorie earlier, if she keeps this up I'll have to give her a piece of my mind." Ann told them defiantly.
"Not gonna lie, I'd kind of like to see that Mrs McNulty." Dean grinned at her. Ann giggled and batted his arm.
"Dean, you must call me Ann, like Amy said, you're practically family."
"Ahh William, there you are." They all turned to see Grandma Ellie approaching, her electric wheelchair zipping along the driveway. An elderly gentleman with a deep tan followed behind her.
"Hello, Mother." William bent down and kissed her cheek. "Father." They shook hands.
"I thought the service was lovely." Ellie commented as they made their way inside.
"Yes, wasn't it." Ann smiled. "Oh, I don't believe you've met before… Ellie, this is Dean and Sam Winchester." Ellie gave them a calculating look. "Dean is Lacey's boyfriend. Ellie is William's mother and this is his father Roman."
"Very nice to meet you." Roman shook their hands while Ellie continued to study them.
"Are you the ghost hunters?"
"Mother!" William glanced around at the crowds of people within hearing distance. Ellie gave him a withering glance.
"Uh, yeah, yeah we are." Sam nodded.
"Well." Ellie smiled broadly at them. "I must commend you for the service you do. If Lacey hadn't been here a short while back then my Charity event would have gone up in smoke. So, well done for teaching her."
"Teaching me?" Lacey frowned as Dean grinned at her.
"You're welcome." He told her, happily. Lacey rolled her eyes at him as they followed the crowd through the foyer and into the dining room.
"What now?" Dean asked.
"This way! We're at the top table, obviously." Ann waved at them to follow her.
"This is the part you'll like. Food." Lacey smirked at him. They found their place cards on the table and sat down in their designated seats. Dean picked up the menu card and studied it. "Crab cakes, lemon and herb chicken and lemon meringue pie." Dean's eyes lit up.
"Oh yeah, wonder how that happened." Lacey smiled at him.
"You picked that?"
"I'm a telepath." Lacey levelled him with a stoney look before bursting into laughter at his expression. "No, dude, I just asked Amy to put pie on the menu, make the day a little more bearable for you."
"So far, it's been pretty good considering the rest of the crowd." Dean nodded at the room at large. "But thank you anyway. I appreciate it." Dean leant over and kissed her. From further down the table Brendan began making hacking noises. Lacey rolled her eyes and glared at him.
"Grow up, Brendan."
As everyone shuffled into their seats one of the waiters rang a bell to get everyone's attention. Tony got to his feet as the chattering died down.
"Thank you very much to everyone for coming and for the generous gifts you have all given Dorian."
"Did we get him a gift?" Dean hissed in Lacey's ear. She frowned and rubbed her ear before hissing back;
"There's a host of Disney toys sitting in his bedroom from the three of us." Dean nodded approvingly as Tony continued his speech.
"A special thank you goes out to my in laws, William and Ann for hosting us today at their Country Club and of course to my Mother, Marjorie…" He nodded at Marjorie who beamed, completely enjoying being the centre of attention. "… who organised everything for us. And we can't forget my father Peter, thanks for all your support dad." There was a round of applause. "And finally, the new godparents, Lacey and Dean, I hope you're ready for the great responsibility…" He gave them a serious look. ".. of babysitting." He broke into a grin. Lacey smiled back at him. "Everyone, please enjoy the food, the first course will be out shortly! And don't drink too much champagne!" There was another round of applause as Tony sat down. The doors to the kitchen opened and a line of waiters emerged, bringing out the crab cakes.
"These are pretty good." Dean said as he tucked in.
"So, what have you guys been up to recently? Hunted anything unusual?" Amy asked.
"Well, there was the Japanese booze monster." Lacey told her between mouthfuls.
"The what?" Amy frowned.
"Japanese spirit you have to be drunk to see." Dean clarified.
"Wow. That is different." Amy laughed.
"I hope you didn't mind the speech?" Tony asked Dean, leaning past Amy to talk to them.
"Dude, you keep putting pie on the menu, I'll babysit whenever you want." Dean told him. Tony laughed.
"Good to know."
"Cookies for me and you've got yourself a deal." Lacey added.
"I'll try to remember that." Tony teased.
Soon the second course was brought out, which Dean again tucked into with gusto, Sam giving him disapproving looks. When dessert eventually arrived Dean took a bite and began to make appreciative moaning noises.
"That's some good pie." He told Lacey with his mouth full.
"I can see that." Lacey smirked.
"You not eating yours?" Dean asked Sam who was talking to Roman.
"Nah, I'm full, dude." Dean shook his head and picked up Sam's plate, knocking his slice of pie onto his own.
"Yeah, I'm not feeling the lemon either." Lacey said, she'd taken a few bites of her pie before pushing the plate away. Dean saw the pie out of the corner of his eye and pulled the plate towards him. Lacey laughed and shook her head.
"You want mine too?" Amy asked. "I can't eat citrus fruits, they play havoc with my stomach."
"Let it never be said that I wasted pie." Dean told them, motioning her to pass the plate.
"My that's quite the appetite you have." Ann said as she watched the fourth slice of pie being passed to Dean.
"Oh, yeah." Dean smiled at her. "You know Ann, have I ever told you, you have lovely eyes?" Lacey almost choked on her water.
"No, I don't think you have." Ann ate the last of her dessert.
"Well, you do, I could stare at them for hours, they're not brown, not green.." Dean trailed off.
"That's cause they're blue." Lacey wapped him round the back of the head. "And dude that's my mom!"
"You're right. I should be focusing on you, her child bearing days are past."
"What the hell!? I…" Lacey was starting to get mad but then she got lost in Dean's eyes. She shook her head. "What is going on?"
"Uh, he's not the only one." Amy pointed out as one of the older female guests got into the lap of one of the other guests. The woman sitting next to him got to her feet and slapped the woman round the face. The rest of the room began to descend into chaos, people either jumping on each other or objecting to the jumping. Lacey felt Dean's hand on her knee.
"Ok, maybe we should get out of this room." Lacey said, grabbing Dean's hand before it could go any higher and keeping hold of it.
"Agreed." Amy grabbed hold of Tony's arm and hauled him to his feet.
"Is it bed time already?" He asked, giving her a lascivious look.
"You're in a time out Mr." Amy told him.
"Sam can you grab my parents?" Lacey asked as she picked Rian up out of his high chair and handed him to Amy.
"Got it." Sam put himself between the two, who were making googly eyes at each other. The 8 of them slowly made their way across the room, avoiding the fights that were breaking out around them as much as they were avoiding the make out sessions.
When they reached the hallway Sam came to a stop.
"Ann!" An older gentleman cried out as he crossed the foyer towards them. His suit was rumpled and his general appearance was dishevelled.
"Steven?" Ann squinted at him.
"I should have told you years ago how I felt about you."
"That is my wife you insolent cad!" William proclaimed. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his handkerchief and hit Steven round the face with it.
"Dad!" Amy admonished as Lacey and Dean collapsed in a fit of giggles.
"Well, really!" As Steven advanced on William, Lacey held out her hand and he flew back onto one of the sofas in the foyer.
"Come on, we need to find out what the hell is going on." Lacey grabbed Dean's hand and dragged him down one of the corridors, Amy following behind with Rian and Tony while Sam escorted Ann and William. As they approached the elevators they heard a scuffling sound coming from within the walls. Ann frowned as they began to search for where the noise was coming from.
"Ahah!" Dean opened one of the maintenance closets and Brendan and Jenna tumbled out. Ann let out a gasp.
"You two! What a spectacle!" The two of them began straightening their clothes.
"Mother! We can explain!" Brendan said as he put his shoes back on.
"I would really rather not hear about your escapades. And where is Truman?"
"He's quite safe." They all turned as Ellie rolled around the corner, Truman on her lap, enjoying the ride.
"Oh, thank goodness." William sighed with relief. "Where is father?"
"He's helping pry some of our friends off each other." Ellie told them, her tone unimpressed. "What is going on?"
"That's exactly what we're trying to figure out." Lacey told her, gripping Dean's hands tightly to stop them from wandering.
"Is it a ghost?" Ellie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't think so… I've never heard of ghosts making people… amorous." Sam worded, carefully.
"It's funny how so many people are affected, but not everyone." Lacey mused. "I can feel it trying to affect me but it's not particularly strong."
"I don't feel anything at all." Amy shrugged.
"Me either, I…" Sam stopped as a thought struck him. "And none of us ate the pie."
"Pie?" Dean looked up hopefully.
"Well I had a few bites but I gave the rest to Dean. Did you have dessert grandma?" Lacey asked.
"No, meringue gets stuck in my teeth." Ellie told them bluntly.
"Why would the pie be doing this to people?" Amy asked, watching her husband worriedly.
"The sandwich!" Lacey snapped her fingers.
"What?"
"Of course." Sam nodded in agreement. "A while back Dean ate this sandwich at Biggerson's and it basically made him act stoned, so maybe the pie is doing the same thing, just with a different result."
"And who was behind that?" Ellie asked.
"The Leviathans."
"What are Leviathans?" Ellie frowned.
"Prebiblical race of monsters from purgatory, they basically want to eat everything."
"So why would they make everyone, ya know…" Amy blushed.
"Keep the food supply up?" Sam shrugged. Amy shuddered.
"So, we're headed to the kitchen?"
"Looks like, but first…" Sam opened the closet door again and rooted through the cleaning supplies. He pulled out a few spray cans of borax and handed them out.
"Leviathan's hate borax, one comes too close, spray it with that and it'll back right off." Sam told them.
"You learn something new every day." Ann said faintly as she took one of the spray bottles from Sam. They advanced towards the kitchens, directed by Ellie, who said she often used the back door to make a quick exit when 'friends' she didn't want to see appeared in the restaurant. Lacey gingerly opened the swing door to the kitchen. The place was practically deserted, only a few kitchen staff milling around. They spotted one of the chefs at the back of the kitchen, packing away boxes of food. Sam signalled to the others to stay back as he and Lacey crept forward.
"Hey!" Sam called out. As the chef turned around, Sam sprayed him in the face with the borax. The chef let out a cry as his face began to smoke. At the sound of his struggles two more chefs appeared from one of the pantry's. Lacey held on to the spray bottle tightly, charging it with kinetic energy, before throwing it at the new arrivals. The bottle exploded, showering them both in cleaning fluid. The two of them fell to the floor, writhing in pain. As they got to their feet Lacey threw red hot daggers at them while Dean tackled the other one. The Leviathan grabbed him round the throat and tossed him into one of the shelving units. As Dean hit the floor, all the kitchen implements began to rain down around him. He got to his feet and grabbed one of the electric knives from the shelf. Realising what he was doing, Lacey threw her arm out, pulling the third Leviathan off Sam and held the three of them down, while Dean took their heads off.
"Goodness!" Ann shielded the babies eyes from the gore.
"What are we going to do with them?" Amy asked, grimacing at the sight.
"There's a lake out there on the golf course, right?" Sam asked as he grabbed some of the boxes from the shelves, depositing the heads inside.
"Yes, right beside the 17th hole." William nodded.
"Can you grab those and throw them in the lake, we'll take the rest of the bodies and bury them somewhere no one will find them."
"Of course. Brandon, make yourself useful." Ellie instructed.
"But Grandma…" Brendan began to protest, one look from Ellie and he shut up promptly.
A few hours later and they were sprawled out on the sofas in Ann and Williams living room. Ellie and Roman had gone home and so had Brendan, Jenna and Truman. Ann and William had retired a short while ago, taking Rian with them. Dean reached over and poured himself another bourbon before leaning back and wrapping his arm around Lacey.
"Well that was an eventful Christening." Amy sighed. The effects of the pie seemed to have worn off Tony and Dean now.
"You can say that again." Tony took a gulp of his drink.
"Yeah, considering it was our first one, it was pretty entertaining. A lot to live up to though." Tony snorted.
"You're going to be expecting a murder mystery at every christening you attend?"
"I expect it most days, so far I haven't been disappointed." Lacey told him. Dean smiled at her.
"You'd love it if every day was a Nancy Drew novel."
"I would, I really would." Lacey grinned back at him.
"On a slightly more serious note, what is there to be done about those Leviathans?" Tony asked.
"We're working on it." Lacey told him, her smile dropping a little.
"Well, if anyone can handle it, it's you guys." Tony raised his glass.
"Yeah." Dean said quietly as they all clinked glasses, before taking sips of their drinks.
