It's a beautiful Saturday spring morning and Veronica and Peter Hastings pulled over the Rivers' house. The grandparents drove their grandchildren over their parents' house after a sleep over in the Hastings mansion. The senator is most of the time busy with endless engagement throughout the week but the kids sleepover is still the highlight of her week. She is too proud to admit that she sometimes overcompensate for everything she failed to give Spence when she's growing up.

Veronica looked over the well-kept grass lawn in front of her daughter's house and later the focus of the Hasting's matriarch glanced over the garage door that's still open, car is inside. Spencer has not been picking up her phone and maybe the couple got in late last night. It seems like a decade or so she remembered how hard it is to have little children in the house, it is not that long when Spencer and Melissa are little kids like Yani and Sebastian. Looking back, she is not too excited about the relationship between the two given their history friends but now it is really hard to object something that made her daughter so happy. The youngest Hastings finally have the family she always dreamed of, with the person she knew complimented her every weakness. And she smiled to think that Caleb is well aware of Spencer's rap sheet and is not repelled by it.

All is forgiven, Veronica thought for everything she neglected to provide her youngest. Spencer grew up independent and stubborn but loving and caring at the same time. She has her friends, her best support system.

As the senator went out of the vehicle and she noticed drops of blood in the driveway. She looked around to see if it could be berries or Aslan, the Siberian husky pet of her daughter that might gotten hurt but she did not see the dog.

She walked further, ignoring the calls of Peter asking for help how to remove the tightly bound baby carriage out of the car and little pools of blood are all over the front patio. Veronica is mortified on the thought that something might have happened in this house last night, what if someone has attacked Spencer? It isn't so long ago when Leslie almost killed her youngest daughter around the time she gave birth to Yani. But the nightmare, A or AD, Leslie have been gone a long time ago and what fresh of hell is this?

She ran through the front door, frantically knocking calling her daughter's name, but there's no answer. She looked inside her purse to look for the spare key, hand shaking and cold sweat beading in her forehead. What could have happened to Spencer? Her fears are heightened even more with more blood on the floor. The iron lady of the senate is fighting over her tears, she will never survive it if she turned the knob and find Spencer's lifeless body. No, she fought the bad thoughts on her head, ignoring the calls of Peter, from the sidewalk, asking his wife what happened? He also sensed that something is wrong in there but he cannot run and leave two young children in the car.

Veronica went inside the house and called out Spencer's name, no response but more blood on the floor too. She walked further and she saw in her periphery someone lying on the kitchen floor. She felt fear like she's never felt it before like her worst nightmare decided to become a reality in the kitchen. She cannot, if it is Spencer, her daughter. She cried and started running towards the door, "Peter, get the police now!"

###################

Spencer woke up in a cold, damp and dark floor. She cannot see a thing, she tried moving her body but everything is sore, she felt cold and for the first time in the last two minutes she's been conscious that she's somewhere far from her family, her beloved. Spencer thought of ways to get out of the hellhole but she cannot see a damn thing. She tried to pull herself to palpate the surroundings and she touch a cold wall. She moved her hands to the left feeling the structure pressed against her hands, it's like brick or cobble stone. She moved he hands further and stretching her shoulders, sends radiating pain in her back. She secured her back against the wall, feeling the cold bricks pressing her damp nightshirt. She realized that she's in a hole, way below the ground, a well-like place. Great as she thought of the Hannibal movie again.

She desperately tried to palpate more, to check if there is a ladder to help her get up to how high it is, she has no idea. Her back ached some more but it hurts so much, she tried to concentrate on happier thoughts maybe it will get her going, rest first Spencer thought. She began to picture the face of her son laughing while throwing pureed pumpkin on the floor. It's cruel to think that it may actually be the last time that she will saw her children and Caleb.

What if she will not get lucky and actually die in this hell hole in the middle of nowhere? The possibility is not something that is far from reality but no, she's Spencer freaking Hastings and she will emerge from this although she still don't know how as of the moment. Every fiber of her torso feels like it's being torn apart in all direction. It's so painful but she knew it's going to go away soon.

She pulled her knees and rested the side of her head on it, she moved her left thumb and touched her wedding band, something that reminded her that a part of Caleb is still with her now during her dark hour. She has to think how to get out of this place, but she also remembered that there is a threat that her family will get hurt if she does something stupid. The pain of her body is overwhelming her senses, she will pull through this is knew. Timing is everything. She closed her eyes for a while, she needs to rest and recuperate. The pain in her body started to melt away, her mind escaped somewhere familiar, with walls painted in happy pastel colors and squeaky toys in the floor while her beautiful daughter is on her tummy reading one of her big books and Caleb brewing coffee in that old coffee pot she took from the barn.

As Spencer is dreaming someone pushed the cover of the old well. She's too far away from her dreamland to know that they flashed lights on her and checked on her. She did not move at all but the one holding the flashlight said, Spencer is just fine and they covered the top of the well again.

Sirens of police cars and medic ambulance started arriving in once manicured driveway, and Peter Hastings drove back to the mansion to make sure that whatever horror has happened inside the house, the children will not be traumatized by it.

Caleb according to the policemen who responded is alive but is unconscious and the medic said he is alive but with signs of physical injury, as for Spencer she is nowhere in sight. Blood samples are taken all over the house, since as of the moment it is a missing person report. Veronica looked at the face of the police officer asking her 100 questions, but she doesn't know where Spencer is and as far as the last time she saw her is when she dropped by the children before she and Caleb went away for date night. She calmed herself and though if there is something she might have missed, like are the couple tensed or fighting but she went back and forth there's none. She's never seen Spencer so happy the way Caleb and their children made her happy. As far as she remembered from last night, the couple are going for a Friday night date and the kids will stay over the mansion for the rest of the night.

The amount of blood so far is not that substantial according to the police officer that is processing the scene, but as far as they know Spencer is hurt. There is no sign of forced entry in the house. And all of Spencer's personal effects, wallet, phone and credit cards are in the bedroom and no sign of robbery. A diamond necklace is still on the bedside table and their engagement ring that should be of substantial hundred grand amount in the market but none of those are taken.

Veronica watched the medic took Caleb's unconscious body be taken by the medics to the ambulance. She wanted to scream, where is Spencer? Did she ran away? But that's uncharacteristic of her, she loved her children more than anything but somewhere her mother instinct says that her daughter is not safe right now, someone hurt her but as she tears up she also can feel Spencer in her heart. It's like a silent prayer that she said under her breath, hold on Spencer I will find you.

Caleb is half awake up in an unfamiliar room, he could hear cardiac monitor beeping he still feels heavy on his eyes. He moved his hand but realized that it is attached to an IV line, his body felt like someone hit him with the bat over and over again. He asked himself what happened, why is he even here? Did he got into an accident? He started thinking again, but it's like a bad dream, he is pretty sure someone hurt Spencer or did he just imagined it? He stirs and with all his might tried to open his eyes.

Aria and Allison heard the commotion that happened across town, it's Rosewood after all. They've all been waiting in the room for three hours waiting for Caleb to wake up while Spencer's mother is working with the police to find Spencer.

He fought his way to stir and Aria noticed and called Ali. They stood beside the bed waiting for the patient to open his eyes.

"Caleb, Caleb can you hear us?" Ali asked him, her hands nervously crossed her chest.

He found his composure, and brought his right hand on his aching temples, "where am I?" he asked faintly.

"He's okay" Aria said to Toby who just walked in the door, "it's Aria, Caleb listen to me carefully, where is Spencer?"

"Wwwhat, where is Spencer?" he is confused as well as what is happening. He is suddenly contemplating that what if the nightmare he had that someone attacked them is actually true but everything is so clouded on his head right now.

"Caleb, it's Toby, what happened last night and where is Spencer?" the police officer asked him.

He struggled to pull himself up, "I don't remember a lot but I know it's like a bad dream that someone hurt Spencer but I don't remember anything."

The people in the room looked at each other, they all knew Caleb and he will do anything and everything to save Spencer or at least not let anything happen to her.

"Caleb, I don't know how to break it to you but Spencer is missing and it would really help if you can tell us what's the last thing you remember." Toby said with obvious concern on his voice, not just because he is a police officer trying to solve a case but because Spencer meant the world to him at some point and Caleb is his bestfriend. He knew that he will be inhibited from this case in a while because of his personal relations but he cannot bear the thought of abandoning the fate of Spencer to another police officer.

"I don't know, I don't remember, I'm woozy but I will find her" Caleb started pulling the IV lines and monitors from him and the alarm went on.

Nurses came on Caleb's room, "sir you have to stay still and we will reattach the IV lines."

"No, I have to find my wife," he protested and a moment of clarity hit him and all the blood flushed from his face, "there's someone with a mask last night and it hurt Spence, it's wearing the baby mask just like the ones we saw a long time before in the train, you have to get me out of here. It will hurt Spencer, I have to find her."

"Okay, just stay here and I will get police officers to help us out" Toby finally spoke as he took his cellphone off his jacket.

"No, I'm out of here" Caleb fought

"Caleb, stop!" Toby raised his voice, "calm the fuck down and figure this out, what was the last thing you remember about last night with Spencer?"

She woke up with still the enormous pain on her body. Maybe sometime in between the darkness and the time she slept her abductors threw some packets of saltine and chocolate candy bars. She could hear her stomach rumbling but the reality is setting in, is she going make it out there alive? She read and experienced sensory deprivation and its hell every single time. She wanted to get out of there and ran even if it kills her but what if she gets caught and these people already warned her that if she tries anything, it will be open season for her family including her children. No, she thought of her little kids, it's not fair to subject them in this kind of horror. But she knew she has to figure something out, she will come home soon, she knew it and whispered it to herself over and over again like a prayer. She thought about Caleb and how he is most likely busting his brain how to find her and most terribly blaming himself for not being able to protect her, it's never his fault.

Just then, the lid got pushed and some faint light come through. It's a shallow well, Spencer estimate about 10 feet in height and about 4 feet in diameter.

"Good day Princess, you've been sleeping a lot," Spencer followed the voice but her eyes hurts adjusting to the lights. "Be a good girl Spencer and we will get you out."

"Please get me out of here."

"No," and just that the lid shut down.

"Please, I promise. I will do anything," she cried but all went on deaf ears.

He has been discharged on the hospital 48 hours ago and Spence has been missing for four days, police are in and out of their house. There's no news about the whereabouts of Spencer Hastings. The Hastings decided that it is better for the children to stay in their house for safety reasons since new people and police are everywhere in Caleb's house and it can spell trauma to their children minds.

Caleb barely slept that night, he's been asked to stay home but he cannot just do that. He peeked at the slit on the blind on their kitchen and the police escort is still in their driveway. He thought about it doesn't really make sense, it is not him at this assholes are after but Spencer. He doesn't eaten anything, he is scared and what could this person possibly do to Spencer. But he has to keep this mind straight, how to get his wife back.

His been staring at the parcel of brown bag sitting in the middle door, he cannot think straight, people are obsessing about Spencer's kidnapping and it not been good so far since no leads have emerged. Who would have dropped this gift in their backdoor? Or maybe it's a late delivered purchase that Spencer did before she's taken? Maybe any wise man should have called the police a couple of meters away but he needed to know what it is first, what if this parcel triggers something or is connected to the disappearance of Spencer? No one understands how things like these works but the Liars and the boyfriends.

His mindless wandering are interrupted by the chime alert of this phone message alert, he took a deep breath and walked towards it.

It was from an unknown number and it gave him a link on a file he has to download. His computer professional minds said that it is not the right thing to do because suspicious files, malware spreads like wildfire with these files but his gut feel told him that this is Spencer related.

Caleb watched the file download on his phone, his heartbeat he swore can be felt on his throat. And when the phone alerted him that the file is ready to open, he swallowed something and braced himself.

The video is like a dark basement, and a person holding the camera pushing a wooden lid on a stone well, the video shifted on flashlight being turned on and it went on to glimpse on what is inside the well, Caleb held his breath and it's Spencer crying and screaming at the bottom of a dried up well and the person put the lid back on. He could still hear her whimper before the video cut.

How can people be so cruel? Spencer doesn't deserve it. He has to think twice how to get her out and find where is she and how to get to her. He wanted to tell her to hang in there because he is coming for her, just stay alive because he will get her back. Caleb thought about handing this video to the police but before he can do anything, a message came in.

Try anything funny with the police, Spencer will drown in the well.

His hands are trembling, beads of perspiration on his forehead started forming. He can only imagine how scared his wife might have been right now, he is desperate and it felt like someone gutted him right on the spot.

Caleb pulled the brown box and it contained, blood soiled shirt. A familiar shirt, same shirt Spencer is wearing the night they took her away.

Blood drained from his head, he felt nauseous just as another chilling text came in again. His head is spinning and he wanted to throw up.

Just so we are clear, no monkey business.

He rewatched the video again looking for clues but it breaks his heart every time he hears her cry, her pleas are tearing his soul apart. Spencer is helpless. He scanned for details that might help find this place, he transferred the file on his laptop and downloaded all the images from the video taking a note of the well and the bricks on the mouth of the well are engraved, it says, Landbirth and Co or something that sounds looks like that. He knew he cannot start asking questions so he called a familiar number for help.

It may not be the best idea to meet up with Emily and Aria in the middle of the vacant parking lot. But he cannot be too sure that someone is listening to their conversation, he cannot take that risk. Caleb explained to them what he found out and showed them the video of a captured Spencer. He told them what he needs because he cannot risk poking around when whoever took Spencer made a direct threat that Spencer will get it if he does anything, but surely cannot just sit and watch this person hurt Spencer.

Caleb is on his way to the Hastings house to visit his children and dinner when Emily called and asked him to meet them at the Brew parking lot.

"It is an old well drilling business in Rosewood but has been close for twenty years." Aria said in a low voice, "So Emily and I went to the city hall for listing of household with well basements, trust me it is a lot. But we eliminated those that has been destroyed, converted we just focused on houses that still exist as is."

Caleb are watching his friends explained what they did that day.

"We narrowed it down to five and three on those are abandoned." Emily said and "Aria and I already discussed it, you take the abandoned one and we can check the occupied ones since cute girls are less threatening if we get caught snooping."

Aria handed the paper to him, "these are the addresses of the ones you have to check out, just make sure to be careful, okay? Do you want us to call Toby for backup?"

"No worries, I'm alright. I'm just scared, never been this scared and disappointed at the same time," he said while tears welling down his eyes, "how many times have she been hurt because I failed her again."

"Caleb it is not your fault, it never was, Spencer knew that and she is the strongest person we knew, we will get through this and we will all make sure she will get home safely. Now go see your kids, it's not healthy for them to get used not having you and Spence around."

"Thanks, you guys" he said in almost whisper.

Dinner is almost eaten in silence except for the news that so far there is still no development on the abduction of Spencer. Veronica started crying when she said that she read from previous filed cases somewhere that the first 48 hours is the most crucial and there's a diminishing chances of finding her alive as hours passed by. She wanted explanation who took her daughter, why and what will it take to get her back. Caleb knew that she also wanted to ask how he could let it happen but she kept her silence. Frustrations are mounted but no one said a word, painful blames will not solve anything at this point, everyone thought.

He tucked his children to sleep. He told Yani that mother is on an extended business trip, just like what the Hastings folks asked him to say to the children.

Around midnight he drove back to the house but he noticed the piece of paper Aria gave him, he took a detour and found himself in an abandoned house. He parked across the street and grabbed a flashlight on the glove compartment. He sneaked on the dark house since he already had her wife kidnapped he doesn't need a trespassing lawsuit.

He took a careful step and watched over his shoulders, he pushed the barbed wire and ironically a sign fell off that says, No Trespassing.

He treaded the dark floor and went to the locked back door. Caleb took off his jacket and wrapped his hands on it before he punched the square glass on top of the door. He hustled inside the dark house and made sure that Spencer is not in this place. The house seemed dark and smelled moldy. He quickly scanned the place for a door leading to the basement, just in case Spencer is in there- He felt hopeful- He wanted to be, that's what's keeping him together the past few days. He would rather think of the terrifying possibilities, he cannot.

He stepped carefully in the darkness of the night. He tried his best not to touch anything or leave any prints behind, just in case. He opened the basement door and there is nothing there but darkness. He walked towards a well sitting in the middle of the room, abandoned filled with old sofa, worn out furniture and dusty boxes that left a musty smell in the air. He took a deep breath and pushed the cover of the well, empty.

Caleb stepped away from the well and took hurried step back to the car. Just as he is about to leave, something caught his attention, a police mobile is waiting in the driveway and two police officers had their flashlights focused on him.

Not the best night to sneak around, apparently.

Caleb tried to profusely apologized and explained that he is just checking something. But he played it in his head, missing wife and he is poking around empty houses. He expected more sympathy but rather is arrested for trespassing. He found himself downtown sitting in a small room with mirrors, so like in the movies.

They are looking at him with so much suspicion now, he thought or he is hoping they are not doing it that moment. He sat there blinking and waiting for an officer or whoever he can explain that everything is a big, fat misunderstanding.

His attention focused when the door opened. A familiar strong presenced woman walked in and she is someone that dealt with the girls a long time ago, Detective Tanner.

She stood by the table first and scanned Caleb like a mystery gift waiting to unraveled. Caleb is in between annoyed for the time wasted sitting in this room instead of finding Spencer and mad for everything is just a huge misunderstanding.

"So, tell me something, I don't know," she began. "You're wife have been missing a couple of days ago in a possible home invasion and you are out in the middle of the night in some abandoned house with a NO Trespassing sign as big as the door?"

Caleb cleared his throat, "I can't just sit in one spot and wait for a call, you know that."

Detective Tanner straightened her back and fidget the edged of a cream folder in between her index finger and thumb, "the thing Mr. Rivers is there are infinite number of possibilities, what happened to you wife, but something shady surely happened today." She opened the content of the envelop, "when your car was impounded we "accidentally" found a bloody shirt on it, care to shed light on that?"

Caleb knitted his brows together, is he acting like a guilty husband? Are they really serious about considering him as a suspect? She leaned forward and looked him in the eyes, "in a few days we will know whose blood is that? Suffice that we know that is human with the same blood type as your wife but if DNA goes back, I advised that you start telling us what happened or you should start considering hiring a good lawyer because you will need that. We don't necessarily need a body to convict these days."

Tanner looked into Caleb's eyes, like a lion watching a prey, "I've known you and Spencer for a couple of years and probably you are one of the happiest couple I know," Caleb thought and titled his head a little, "the thing about happy couple is we do not really know what's behind closed door until something rotten started to stench, something always seemed to snap" Tanner continued as he rolled in eyes in disbelief in what he is hearing,"you are free to go now, for now." The lady shaded.

A ball of laughter by the whole irony swelled on Caleb, this is totally fucked up he thought. He contemplated to telling Tanner about the video and that the shirt is something that he found in the doorstep this morning but he also thought about the threat, the people that had Spencer can really hurt her if they wanted. He cannot let anything bad happen to Spence. Counting the critical hour, they have probably possibly close to 48 hours to get this right and find her or else? He will end up rotting in jail and Spencer is die in a well, their little kids will grew up orphans.

He knew that he has to get someone on his side just in case he gets detained, someone has to continue finding Spencer, he took his phone immediately after signing and scrolled to his contacts for a ride to the car impound place across town at 3 in the morning and at same time tell everything that is happening including the video sent to him earlier that day.

He heard this ring, thrice before the half asleep familiar voice came into the headset.

"Toby, it's Caleb. I need your help."

##########

He waited in a café near the stair for Toby who walked in wearing a black suede jacket and khakis, he hair is slightly deshelved and he is wearing eyeglasses to somehow cover redness in his eyes. It is unholy to ask anyone to get up at this hour but there is no other guy he trust in finding Spencer other than Toby.

He signaled the waitress in the counter for coffee and frankly anyone could use some at this time of the morning, he slid on the opposite of the booth, "I just heard on the way here, you got picked up by the cops?"

The raven haired guy shudder his shoulders, "some shit I need to follow up to find Spence but got caught trespassing."

Toby smiled at the lady who brought him coffee and took the menu she handed over as she refills Caleb's cup, "this is not the time to be stupid, Caleb. Tell me now, why did you go there, I don't believe that it is something random, you don't do random. You are like Spencer that way ever since. Stubborn and never trusted the system. "

"Toby if anything happen to me promise me that you will never stop looking for Spence, I don't know who else to trust. I don't want to burden the girls since they all have their lives put together, I cannot burden them anymore," he sipped coffee and rub his index finger in the rim of the cup.

They sat in silent, two men that used to best friends and has loved the same woman at some point, waiting for the move that will break this mystery.

"Earlier today, I received an important information, I still have not given it to the investigators because the people who sent me this threatened to hurt Spence and I know it sound stupid but it's like reflex to protect her somehow," Caleb took a deep breath and pull his phone from his jacket, "I'm well aware of the efforts to find my wife but whoever took her has a long history with her, with us all." He handed him the phone and Caleb watched as Toby's face flushed with color and horror reflected in his eyes.

Toby's hands are shaking when he handed him back the phone. They exchanged looked and they both are terrified of what they saw in that video.

"We can't keep this to ourselves, if the detectives handling this case knew you have evidence like that that's going to put you on the suspect list," Toby stated as a matter of fact, "I'm not supposed to be talking to you but you are still me friend and she's not just some random victim. She is a senator's daughter for crying out loud."

Caleb took a deep breath, "I can't turn this over to the police without risking the life of Spencer but I still have to check couple more places. Just trust me on this one, okay?" his eyes started welling up, "I can't sit in the house doing nothing when someone clearly had my wife thrown in a well in a basement somewhere, I have to find her."

The police officer looked at the man sitting across him, distressed and obviously has not slept in days.

"Fine, let's find Spence." Toby said and left out the for old time sake part of the sentence.
