(After 'The Blackout in the Blizzard')

Thank you for reviewing my story. I appreciate it.

I don't own Bones.

Oooooooooooooooo

His visit with Parker had gone well and Booth was feeling like things were finally falling into place. After delivering his son to Rebecca's home, he had watched the boy race into the house and smiled at the way Rebecca flinched when they heard something crash to the floor. "He's growing so fast. It only seems like yesterday he was four years old and interested in dinosaurs and robots."

Surprised to see a more relaxed Booth standing in front of her, Rebecca glanced through the door to see if Parker was nearby. He wasn't. "You seem different, Seeley. You seem more at peace than you have in a long time."

"I am." Hesitating for a moment, Booth looked down at the toes of his shoes then back up to look at Rebecca. "I uh . . . I had a talk with Bones the other night. The night of the blizzard. We'd been putting off an important conversation for too long and . . . well, we finally had an honest conversation about our future."

"Your future? Your future together?" She had been hoping that Booth would let his anger go and move on. She had been worried about him ever since he had asked Hannah to marry him and she had turned him down. That he had been so angry and so lost had almost broke her heart. She hated seeing him isolate himself from the world. After Hannah had left, Booth had been so filled with rage she had almost refused to let Parker visit his father, but she knew deep down she had nothing to fear. Booth loved his son and he would never hurt him or mistreat the boy. The fact was, it seemed like Parker was the only one that could reach Booth during that time and she knew it was important for her son to have continued contact with his father. "You and Temperance?"

Chuckling, Booth nodded his head and tried not to blush. "Yeah me and Bones. We've agreed that as soon as I'm not angry anymore and she's not impervious then we'll get together. I don't know when that will happen, but we're not in a rush. We're not going to rush into anything and screw up our future. Not this time."

"You don't seem to be angry to me, Seeley." Curious, Rebecca decided to keep the conversation going. He obviously wanted to talk and she wanted to help him if he needed it. "Are you really angry or is this just a way to keep things the way they are for a while?"

That was actually a question he had asked himself since the blizzard, but he didn't think that was the case. "I'm not angry at the world or Bones or Hannah, if that's what you mean. I'm angry with me. I'm angry that I've made a lot of poor decisions in the last year and I need to figure out why I keep doing that. I don't want to start anything with Bones until I know my own mind. I need to figure out why I keep making stupid decisions about my life. It's like I sabotage myself and I don't get why. At least it seems like that's what I'm doing."

"I'm not sure you're sabotaging yourself, Seeley." Rebecca had known Booth for a long time and she knew that his childhood haunted him. "I think you lead with your heart when sometimes you need to step back and think about what you want and why. You're a romantic and sometimes that's not enough. Sometimes you need to weigh what you want versus what you can have. I know it took me a long time to learn that lesson, but I did learn it and you can too."

Slowly nodding his head, Booth knew that she was right. He didn't think things through like he should. "Sometimes I wish I was like Bones. She has a plan for everything . . . well, almost everything. She doesn't do well if you push her into anything. She has to think things through."

"And that is her problem, Seeley. Sometimes you have to be able to be spontaneous." Rebecca knew that her ex-lover and Temperance Brennan were right for each other. She had known if for quite a while. "It's alright for you to be you and her to be her. I think you both just need a few little changes. You need to be a little less spontaneous and Temperance needs to be a little more."

"Yeah." Booth rubbed the back of his neck. "You're probably right . . . I have to go. I promised to meet Bones somewhere. She found a new restaurant she wants to try it out and I said I'd go with her."

Moving back into her house, Rebecca watched Booth walk towards his truck. "Have fun!" She waved at him, saw him return her wave and she closed the door. She hoped that everything worked out for those two. She thought they made a great couple. "If only they would just do it?"

"Do what Mom? Who should do what?" Parker left the kitchen carrying an apple with him.

"I think that your father and Temperance should date each other. I think that would make them happy." Rebecca was surprised when Parker laughed and shook his head.

"Gosh Mom, they're dating already. They've been dating for a long time . . . well not when Hannah was with Dad, but they used to go to movies together and ate out and when I visited Dad Bones would come over and we'd play board games or me and Dad would go to her apartment and swim in her pool. They didn't date when they were away and they didn't date when Hannah was around, but now that she's gone, they're dating again. She came over this weekend and we made cookies and watched movies and we played Monopoly. It was a lot of fun . . . Dad and Bones cheat. They like to win and they cheat a lot when they play games. It's funny. They crack me up."

Not sure what to make of Parker's statements, Rebecca smiled. "You may be right Parker . . . about the dating. They do hang out together. They've been doing that for a few years. I think they just don't realize that's what they've been doing."

"Yeah, they're kind of goofy around each other." Parker took a bite from his apple and talked while he chewed. "They call each other partner, but I think that's just means boyfriend and girlfriend."

"I see." If there was one thing she knew, Parker was a keen observer. "You may be right, Parker. I really think you may be right."
