"Breaking and entering…remind you of high school?" Jason inquired, as they walked up the stairs of the Montgomery's house.
"It's not breaking and entering if you've got a key" Kara smirked, holding up the key that Liam had left under a flowerpot for them.
"And Aria's definitely not going to catch us?" Jason asked as they stopped outside the girl's room.
"No. She's been staying at Ezra's while he's out of town" Kara answered, opening the door.
"Out of town doing what?" Jason frowned.
"Probably creeping on high school girls" Kara shrugged, crouching beside Aria's bed and reaching underneath.
"Ah, got it" Kara mumbled, pulling out a large tin and pouring the contents out on the floor.
"Jesus, Liam wasn't lying about the amount of this crap that Aria had" Jason pointed out, picking up a box of Diazepam.
"This ones from August 2009" Kara exclaimed, rifling through the medication.
"This one is too" Jason stated, making Kara frown as she picked up another box.
"Wait…they're all from Summer 2009. All from different doctor's…" Kara trailed off.
"She was hoarding them. But why?" Jason asked.
"There's enough here to kill someone" Kara murmured.
"They all stop after August. When the Montgomery's moved to Iceland" Jason pointed out.
"I think we need to do some digging. Or more specifically, Mona does" Kara announced, as she started packing the diazepam boxes back into the tin.
"Why Mona?" Jason queried.
"Because Mike Montgomery will listen to her" Kara answered, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Do you think that they-" Jason cut himself off when he heard the front door opening.
"Shit! It must be Mrs Montgomery" Kara panicked, rushing to quietly shut Aria's door.
"We better hide" Jason suggested, pushing the tin underneath Aria's bed.
"C'mon, there will be space in here" Kara exclaimed, opening a nearby chest and looking towards an unimpressed Jason.
"Yeah, if you're 5'4!" Jason complained, as Kara crouched inside the chest and gestured for him to follow.
"Jason, less talking and more crawling on top of me" Kara insisted, as Jason raised an eyebrow.
"Well, when you put it that way" Jason grinned, coming to sit in the chest and leaning down so that he was lying on top of her.
Kara reached up and quietly pulled the lid of the chest down, just as the door to Aria's door opened. The pair held their breath as they heard heels clicking on the floor, as someone grabbed something from the wardrobe. Lucky, we didn't hide there, Kara thought to herself. Something was pulled across the room, and soon after came the distinctive sound of a hoover being switched on. Jason cautiously pushed up the lid of the chest to see that Mrs Montgomery had switched the hoover on using a plug in Aria's room and was now hoovering the landing outside.
"Looks like we're gonna be here for a while" Jason informed her, as Kara groaned, trying to get herself more comfortable.
"Uh, Jason…what are you doing?" Kara asked.
"Huh, I'm not doing anything?" Jason replied, looking down at her, his hands placed on either side of her face.
"Part of you is doing something" Kara stated, looking down as Jason looked away, embarrassment written all over his face.
"Shit, uh…can you move your leg to the side and-ah, no that's worse. Much worse" Jason stuttered, as Kara had to contain her laughter.
"Oh my God, stop!" Kara giggled when she felt him pressing against her thigh.
"I can't exactly control it, you know" Jason pouted, as Kara placed a hand over her mouth to stop the laughter coming from her lips.
"Okay, turn onto your side and-ouch! That's my hair, Jase!" Kara cried, as his fingers became tangled in her hair.
"Sorry, sorry!" Jason cringed, as he did as he was told.
Jason now had his back turned to Kara as they both laid on their sides, him being the little spoon.
"Better?" Kara questioned, not knowing where to put her hands.
"A bit…" Jason trailed off, awkwardly.
"Just think unsexy thoughts" Kara offered, as Jason nodded.
"Right, yeah…tell me about your first kiss with Wren" Jason requested, as Kara scoffed.
"You really want to torture yourself, huh?" Kara suggested.
"Thinking of you kissing another guy is a pretty big turn off" Jason pointed out.
"Fine. It was the end of my second year at Uni…" Kara trailed off, thinking of the memory.
"Wren, my exam is in two days. I should be studying, not letting you kidnap me!" Kara exclaimed as Wren kept his hands firmly over her eyes.
"You're going to ace that exam. You've been studying like crazy. You need a break" Wren advised her, as he slowly led her forward.
"I still need to revise more on the respiratory system. Shit, what is the difference between type 1 and type 2 respiratory failure?" Kara panicked, as Wren rolled his eyes.
"Type 2 have high carbon dioxide levels. Now take a deep breath and let me do something nice for you" Wren complained, as she heard a door open nearby.
"…Wait, why does it smell like chlorine?" Kara frowned, as Wren pulled his hands away from her eyes.
"You've taken me to the hospital's swimming pool? At midnight?" Kara questioned, turning to look at him.
"I paid a couple of people to delete the security footage and leave the door unlocked" Wren shrugged.
"And why did you…Wren, why are you taking your shirt off?" Kara gulped, as her friend pulled off his scrub's shirt.
"I don't want it to get wet" Wren mumbled, making Kara frown.
"Why would it-" Kara was cut off, as Wren suddenly dived into the pool.
"Holy shit…I just realised something. Your crazy" Kara teased, as Wren rose to the surface with a grin.
"C'mon. The water's warm" Wren insisted, running a hand through his wet hair.
"I don't have a bathing suit" Kara stated, looking down at her tank top and leggings.
"Well, if you wanted to go skinny dipping you should have just asked" Wren smirked, as Kara laughed lightly.
"Alright, I'll put my legs in. But that's it!" Kara exclaimed as she crouched beside the pool as Wren swam closer.
"Okay, sure…" Wren trailed off, with a mischievous look in his eyes as Kara pulled up her leggings to place her legs in the warm water.
"Wren, don't you dare" Kara warned, noticing the look on his face.
"Wren!" She cried, as he grabbed her legs and pulled her into the water with him.
Kara couldn't help but giggle as she hit his chest in mock annoyance, pulling her now wet hair away from her face.
"You're an ass" She complained, as Wren moved his hands to her waist.
"You love me really" Wren grinned, as he suddenly pushed her up so that she was floating on the surface.
"What are you doing?" Kara frowned, as Wren tried to keep her upright.
"Getting you to float. Now close your eyes and relax" Wren told her, as she did what she was told.
It took a couple of minutes, but soon enough she was floating easily on the surface. The warm water tickled her cheeks, as she felt like she was floating on air.
"How'd you feel?" Wren asked, seeing the happy expression on Kara's face.
"I feel…good. Really good" Kara smiled.
"Looks like my work is done" Wren replied, as Kara turned to look at him.
Her legs were pulled down as she stopped floating and moved into a vertical position once again, kicking her legs lightly to stay afloat.
"Thank you" Kara exclaimed, her face now only inches from Wren.
"You're welcome" Wren mumbled, his eyes dropping to her lips.
She could see how fast Wren was breathing, as he leaned in closer, his brown eyes full of lust. She felt like a schoolgirl again when he kissed her, as she felt butterflies in her stomach. His hands trailed into her hair, as he brought her closer to him. Kara couldn't help but smile into the kiss, as she wrapped her hands around his neck. She realised with a start that they were sinking when they both dipped under the water, coming back up with a laugh a second later.
"You just kissed me" Kara stated, breathlessly.
"I like you, Kara. A lot. Always have" Wren admitted, trying to figure out what she was thinking.
"Oh…really?" Kara questioned, surprised.
"I think I'm just realizing that 50% of your personality is obliviousness" Wren teased, as she swatted his shoulder lightly.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Kara asked.
"I didn't know how you felt…or if you were even ready…" Wren trailed off, as Kara trailed her hands through his wet hair.
"I like you a lot too, you idiot" Kara grinned, as she leaned forward to press another kiss to his lips.
"Sounds pretty perfect" Jason mumbled, as Kara finished telling him the story.
"Nothing's ever perfect, Jase. Especially not in my life" Kara pointed out.
"Does Wren ever talk about the future? You know, getting married, having kids?" Jason blurted out, before he could stop himself.
He hadn't been able to understand why Wren still hadn't proposed to her. When she told him about the secrets he had kept from her, Jason had figured it out. Wren wasn't sure if he deserved to be with her.
"Not really…why?" Kara frowned, finding his comment strange.
"Do you ever think about it…marriage I mean?" Jason inquired.
"Please tell me you're not about to pull out a ring" Kara giggled, as Jason shook his head fondly.
"I'm serious" Jason stated, as Kara mulled over the comment for a moment.
"Mona and I used to look at wedding dresses all the time. Hell, I think we picked out a venue for my wedding once. But…that wouldn't work anymore" Kara mumbled, as Jason turned his head to look at her.
"Why not?" Jason questioned.
"Different groom" Kara admitted, as they shared a look for a second.
Jason was the first to lose his nerve and look away, noticing the sadness in Kara's blue eyes. There was also something else there. Bitterness. One mistake. One stupid mistake and changed both of their lives forever. He would do anything to change it back. To stand with Kara through anything, but it was too late.
Kara thought that her day couldn't get any more awkward after spending half the morning in a confined space with Jason. God was I wrong, Kara thought to herself, as she looked at the person in the driver's seat next to her.
"If you think you'll be able to figure out who I am by staring long enough, you are sorely mistaken" The distorted voice of A.D informed her.
She had received a cryptic message from A.D a little over an hour ago, telling her that they had important information that they were only willing to tell her. An address had been given and she had been told to come alone. Which she did…after turning on the tracker on her phone that she knew both Mona and Wren had. They would know that she could be in trouble and were probably following the car as they spoke. A.D had been driving her around for over half an hour, mostly through the woods, seeming to have a specific destination in mind.
"Maybe I'm just trying to make you uncomfortable" Kara shrugged, hearing A.D laugh, which was distorted by the device hidden in their mask.
"You always have a comeback, don't you Kara? That's what I've always liked about you" A.D informed her, as she questioned just how long they had known her.
"Are you ever going to tell me what this vital information was or are you just going to keep being cryptic?" Kara rolled her eyes.
"I'm not using Emily's eggs" A.D announced, as Kara turned to them with a frown.
"Why not?" Kara inquired.
"Call it a favour from me to you. I want you on side, Kara. Don't tell the others…but you've always been my favourite. You're the only one who's ever seen the truth" A.D went on.
"…So, you're just gonna' keep being cryptic. Good to know" Kara grumbled when A.D suddenly stopped the car.
"We're walking the rest of the way" A.D announced, as they opened their door.
"Walking through a dark forest, at night with a masked guy...what could go wrong?" Kara exclaimed, as she exited the car and rushed over to follow A.D who was already walking away.
"I'm guessing you still haven't told Dylan about your extracurricular activities?" A.D suggested.
"No. And I don't plan for him to ever find out" Kara retorted.
"Clearly your underestimating him then" A.D pointed out, as Kara realised something.
"Wait, are we walking back the way we just came?" Kara frowned, trying to keep up with A.D's long strides.
"We're meeting someone" A.D answered.
After a few more minutes of walking, Kara spotted a car parked in the middle of the road and a figure exiting the car. It looked strangely familiar. Her eyes widened as they got closer, she could see it was Archer Dunhill.
"It took you long enough" Archer complained, as Kara saw that Alison was passed out in the front seat of his car.
"I'm starting to wonder if impatience is a British thing" A.D exclaimed, making Kara roll her eyes.
"So…how are we going to do this? I have some ideas" Archer announced.
"Do what?" Kara questioned.
"Kill Alison. She's so drugged up she won't put up much of a fight" Archer smirked, as Kara gave him a horrified look.
"That's what you brought me out here to do? To killer her?!" Kara gaped at A.D.
"Don't worry, Kara. Your job tonight is to just be a spectator" A.D informed her, making her scoff.
Before Kara could say anything else, Archer turned to walk around to Alison's side of the car, but Kara grabbed his arm before he got very far.
"This is not happening" Kara insisted, gripping his arm roughly.
"Two against one…I like those odds" Archer grinned, ripping his arm from her hold, as he looked to A.D.
"Not yet. The girls aren't here" A.D stated, as Kara threw her hands in the air in annoyance.
"What? That's your plan?! Mass murder?" Kara cried, dumbfounded.
"You'll see. We need to hide. The girls can't see us until it's too late" A.D announced, as they started to walk past Archer's car into the trees.
"This is crazy. Your both insane!" Kara complained as Archer followed A.D with ease.
"Unless you want the girls to see you with an unconscious Alison, I suggest you come with us" A.D exclaimed, as Kara lost sight of them.
"Dammit…" Kara trailed off, rushing to catch up with them.
It wasn't long before they heard a car in the distance, as Kara looked to her side to see A.D take out their phone, seeing a red dot flashing on a map. They had been tracking the girls the whole time. But why? What was their plan?
"Are you really going to kill her?" Kara asked, watching A.D shake their head slowly.
"Not yet" A.D answered, as Archer frowned at this comment and came to stand in front of the figure.
"What? You said it was the end of the line tonight. That's what your message said!" Archer insisted, towering over A.D who Kara realised was shorter than him.
"You really should pay more attention, Archer. It is the end of line…for you" A.D announced, as they suddenly lunged forward and pushed Archer out of the cover of the trees.
Archer stumbled backwards a few steps, a surprised look on his face. Suddenly a bright light illuminated his face as Archer turned around, just in time to face a car as it slammed into him at full speed. Kara let out a loud cry, as A.D quickly placed their gloved hand over her mouth to stop her from making any more noise. Kara felt herself physically shake as she looked a few meters away to see Archer's body plastered on top of the car Lucas had leant to Hanna, his head through the windshield.
"That was the vital bit of information, Kara. I'm in charge. Anyone who forgets that…is going to end up like him" A.D told her, pointing to Archer's broken and bloody body.
"S-stay away from me!" Kara exclaimed after A.D had led her away from the scene and finally let go of her.
A.D raised their hands up in mock surrender, as Kara thought they seemed amused by the whole thing. How long had they been planning this?
"How…how could you just kill him like that?" Kara gaped, backing up a few meters.
"I didn't. Hanna was the one who killed him. I just helped her along" A.D shrugged, as Kara scoffed.
"Like you helped Cece and Charles along? God, how many people have you killed?" Kara questioned.
"Probably less than your brother" A.D pointed out
"He was sick. What's your excuse?" Kara insisted, stepping out of the shadows of the trees and into the road.
"Archer wasn't exactly a saint. None of the people I've killed have been" A.D informed her.
"Why did you bring me here?" Kara inquired, as they followed her out of the trees.
"I wanted to stop any stupid ideas about you taking over the A team. You may have Jason's vote, but that won't get you very far" A.D warned her, as Kara's eyes widened.
"You've been spying on me?" Kara guessed.
"You're a loose cannon at the best of times. I'm just trying to keep your reined in" A.D replied, making Kara angry.
"I'm not a dog" Kara huffed.
"Clearly not. A dog would be better at following commands" A.D pointed, as Kara's hands balled into fists.
"Kara!" A familiar voice called from not far away, as Kara turned around, relief on her face.
"Oh, what a surprise. It took you long enough to follow her tracker!" A.D exclaimed as Kara saw Wren and Mona rushing towards her.
"What's going on?" Mona frowned, seeing how shaken up Kara appeared.
"They just killed Archer" Kara announced, noticing that Wren didn't appear surprised.
"What? You said you weren't going to do anything without my say so-" Wren started, but Kara cut him off.
"Wait a second…you knew? You knew they were planning this?!" Kara accused, as Wren looked away from her.
"I knew…it was a possibility" Wren admitted, as anger boiled through Kara.
"Seriously, Wren! Anything else I should know?" Kara scoffed.
"Don't be too hard on him. It's not like you've told him where you spent the whole morning…and who with" A.D pointed out, as Kara glared at them.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Wren questioned, turning to A.D with the same expression.
"I think you might all be forgetting there's been a murder half a mile away. Wren, Kara, you're coming with me. Mona, I need you to deal with Lucas' car. He put a camera in it since he lent it to Hanna. We need that camera or they'll realise Lucas has been spying on them" A.D explained.
"A camera? You mean you filmed what just happened?" Kara gaped, as A.D nodded, taking out their phone.
"I needed evidence" A.D replied, showing them the video on his phone.
Kara looked away once she heard a large bang from the video, not wanting to relieve the moment. She noticed Wren frowned at the footage, and took the phone from A.D, seeming to zoom in on something. A.D was too busy giving Mona orders to think too much into it.
"Give some bullshit excuse about trailing Archer because you were suspicious of him. We need to be involved with what the girls are thinking and anything this brings to the surface" A.D advised.
"Hold up…is that why you killed him? To bring up memories about Bethany?" Kara realised.
"Nothing like a murder to stir things up" A.D shrugged, patting Wren on the back.
"We need to leave" Kara announced, once Wren had brought her back to their motel room a few hours later.
"What?" Wren frowned, as he watched Kara walk over to the TV and turn it on, thinking that A.D might be listening to them.
"We've got to disappear. Somewhere A.D won't find us" Kara advised.
"What about your revenge? What about Bethany?" Wren insisted as Kara sighed.
"None of that will matter if we're both dead. This person will kill us all without a second's thought if we get in their way" Kara explained.
"Kara, I know they scared you tonight but-" Wren started, but Kara cut him off.
"Scared? Wren, they killed someone right in front of me! Someone who trusted them. They're crazy!" Kara hissed, trying to keep her voice down.
"We can't just leave," Wren told her.
"Look, I don't care about revenge anymore, okay? I'll find some other way to get over what the girls did to me-" Kara started, but Wren cut her off this time.
"I think they killed Tyler!" He announced as Kara stilled in front of him, her mouth hanging open.
"…What?" Kara questioned, after a moment.
"I could never be sure...not until I saw the footage from inside the car tonight" Wren went on, as Kara remembered Wren's strange reaction when he saw the video.
"What did you see?" Kara asked, her voice shaking.
Author's Notes: I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Once again I'm going to torture you guys with this cliffhanger, haha. I hope you guys are liking Kara's interactions with A.D, they've been fun to write. Please leave a review:)
aldupotterbing: Emily is as infatuated with Alison as she was when she was a teenager, and it looks like it might get her killed. I really liked her and Maya too. But even Maya has turned against her in this story. Thank you, I thought it would be a good twist. I hope you liked this chapter:)
silentmayhem: All the liars have secrets we're going to find out about, but yes, there's definitely some things Aria has hid from the girl's. You've got to stop stealing my drafts for future chapters. You're making me worry my writing is too predictable, haha. It certainly seems like they were involved with Tyler's death, but sometimes things aren't what they seem. Not really a spoiler, but I don't have any plans for Tyler to still be alive, his death changed Kara and I wouldn't want to take that away. Thanks for the review!
Ineveryfandom: It certainly looks like Aria will regret breaking Liam's heart. We'll get a couple of flashbacks, but also a few different characters will be telling us what they remember from that time. They'll find out quite soon, but the A team is waiting for the right time to announce that bombshell. Thank you for reviewing:)
Nicole Beverley234: They might try to apologise, but I think it's too late at this point for it to change anything. Not really a spoiler, but A.D is not related to Kara, seeing as there has been a little bit of flirting. This story doesn't involve incest unlike the show did, haha.
Guest: We'll be finding out more about Aria's past, don't worry! And yes, we'll be tying up loose ends like Eddie Lamb, haha.
Hope10: It was a tattoo that said A's property. It now say's No One's Property.
linnplanner: Thanks for the review! Kara and Wren are really cute, aren't they? I'm still trying to figure out a way that all three of them can be happy in the end.
Blueberry236: Aw, thank you! I hope you liked this update:)
