Whitetiger789- Yeah I knew Glenn would be a surprise twist for sure, read on to find out what happens with Maggie!
Jestalnaker94000- I have big plans for Maggie and the overall aftermath from Glenn's early loss to be ready for that. What happens with Rick, Kenny, and Lee will be explored more in a few chapters!
TWD Jacob 11- Sorry my friend, can't spoil any of that, read on to find out!
Gracie Miserables- Sorry I had to make you so sad, it was a tough choice on my end too, trust me, but Oberson and The Governor are indeed some evil bastards.
Blaszczu2500- Yeah Glenn was definitely a big twist and difference in my crossover from canon.
Thedarkpokemaster- Yes, future chapters will definitely show what happens to Rick, Kenny and Lee. Also glad you liked the scene with Jeff, while he was a member of Crawford in season 1 he was extremely minor so I'm basically using him as an original character at this point.
Don 77- Yeah, it was a rough call but I let Glenn bite it early.
Kevinrock8899- Woodbury is putting them all through hell.
Sokol848- I really love the minor characters as well, especially ones that make a good impact. For me I really like Doug, Chuck, Billy, Molly, Martinez, Alice, and even . They were all awesome characters and they are just some of the top ones from the current list.
Bluntwave- Can't spoil anything with Maggie but I knew everyone thought Glenn was safe from harm especially this early.
Galeforte- I want to give everyone a role that matters in the story so there are no red shirt characters who just show up to die and don't have any screen time. Sure not all will have the biggest impact but I want them to at least be known and missed by their death.
The Good The Bad The X-boy- Yeah Oberson seemed like the perfect fuel for The Governor's fire.
Strongchristiansilver- Glad you're liking the story and hope you continue to!
Darkknight55- Hahaha, that's a good one...not sure Glenn would appreciate it though lol!
Enjoy
Chapter 23: The Other 48
A man in full riot gear sprinted out of the woods that the news helicopter crashed in. The dead dotted the open countryside each letting out hungry groans as they saw and lumbered towards the man. The man jumped over a small wooden fence and glanced back, "Damn it!" He exclaimed as he looked at the horde chasing him. He turned back and quickly noticed the station wagon stuck in the mud by the main road. He wasted no time and got into the driver seat and turned the key, the car started instantly, "Thank god!" He slammed into reverse only for the wheels to spin in the mud. "You gotta be fucking kidding me!" He screamed while slamming the wheel while walkers began to surround the car.
Back at the prison the others had been acting almost aimless in the last forty-eight hours since the others had gone missing. Most weren't sure what they were supposed to be doing in this situation, most decided to do whatever came to mind, feeling as they needed to wait for Rick's group to return before getting back to the work they were all doing before hand. Hershel was the only one pushing for the generator to be working, going so far as to gather some gas from the cars as originally planned two days ago.
Even so, an air of tension and worry hung in the air for everyone, and for Molly, it was particularly an air of irritation. While the blonde woman stood off to the side in the yard, staring out into the walker infested fields, Billy approached her with a basketball in hand, "Hey, I was thinking...a little one on one?" The teenager asked with a hopeful grin,
Molly looked over with a raised brow and shrugged, "Fine, you're on," She said almost reluctantly while walking over and snatching the ball out of Billy's hand, heading over to the basketball hoops. Billy gulped slightly, off put by Molly's reaction, but followed her over still. Molly bounced the ball a few quick times before passing it over to Billy with a sharp pass, "Your ball,"
"Uh, right, let's go," Billy nervously chuckled and ran forward, charging the hoop. Molly easily smacked the ball out of the teens hands, Billy spun around just in time to watch her jump and sink in an easy basket, "Damn, nice one,"
"Not farming today?" Molly muttered back, sounding disapproving,
"Uh, no not today," Billy replied in some surprise, "Ben and Julie are watering the crops and my dad is focusing on the generator...figured I could use a day off from it,"
Molly shook her head and let out a half scoff, "Yeah, a day off, that's what we all need," Billy blinked a few times and rubbed the back of his neck, "Your ball," Molly muttered,
Billy caught the ball and kept his eyes down and off Molly, he pushed forward defensively before quickly pulling back and jumping for a shot. Just as he was letting go of the ball he flinched as a gunshot went off from the nearby guard tower. "Fuck," He hissed as the ball went wide and bounced off the court behind the net.
"The hell was that?" Molly frowned,
"Andrea and Dale," Billy replied, "I forgot they were heading up there for some shooting,"
"Shooting what?" Molly asked back with a raised brow,
"The walkers," Billy replied with a shrug, "After Tyreese finished cataloging the ammo, Andrea figured she'd get some training in with a rifle. Knock off the dust from not shooting in over a month, you know?"
Molly's eyes narrowed and she turned to Billy, "What are you doing Billy? Why the fuck are we playing basketball instead of that?" She snapped while pointing towards the tower,
"Huh? I just thought-I mean, uh, I don't know what you mean Molly," Billy stammered back,
"Billy, there are other people out there, you know that right? We aren't the last twenty people in the state of Georgia. You really think that we can just sit behind these fences all day, grow some food, play basketball, and live happily ever after?" Molly asked with a toss of her hands,
"Well...no, but it's not like I can really do anything about it," Billy replied with an unsure look,
"You can, Billy, you can be ready for when shit goes down! We should be up in one of those towers right now, shooting at these fuckers. You should know how to use a gun, how to shoot walkers and if it comes to it, some asshole who wants to shoot you instead. Those other people...they're animals, Billy, they don't give a shit about anyone else but themselves and they'll kill to get what they want. How are you supposed to protect yourself and your family if you don't know how?" Molly ranted,
Billy pursed his lips and let out a slow nod in agreement, "Well, when you put it like that, yeah, I think you're right. Screw this, let's get us some guns," He said with a grin, "I used to bullseye bottle caps with my bb gun back at the farm, can't be much harder than that,"
Molly finally let out a smile of her own, "Hell yeah, lets see what you got stud," Billy let out a small laugh and turned heading towards the armory with Molly following close behind.
Meanwhile up in the guard tower Andrea lined up another shot and took a clean shot at a walker, killing it instantly. "I got another one, Dale! Right in the head, first try!" Andrea cheered while looking over at the old man who merely stared out at the forest blankly, "Dale? Earth to Dale," Andrea smirked before her smile fell away, "Honey, they're either going to come back or they're not. I'm worried about them too, I am, but watching the horizon all day won't make them come back any faster,"
Dale let out a prolonged sigh and looked back to Andrea, "I know that, but still I want to keep an eye out for them. I want to see them walking over that horizon or coming out from behind a tree. I want them to be okay,"
"You're going to be okay right?" Andrea asked sincerely while moving to Dale's side and resting a hand on his shoulder, "If they don't come back I mean, I'm kinda depending on you, the twins too. Hell the whole group really,"
"I'll be fine, I lost my wife to those monsters out there, compared to that, well I hardly know these people. I'll...I'll hold it together darling, don't you worry," Dale said almost more to himself before pointing out to a rotting walker, "Here, see if you can pick that one off, that's a nasty one,"
"Think I can't?" Andrea asked with a challenging look,
"In one shot? I don't know we'll just have to see," Dale chuckled back,
Andrea knelt down and set up her rifle, she slowly tracked the walker, watching the way it swayed and stumbled with each step before finally taking another clean shot, right through the brain. "Ha!" Andrea cheered,
"Nice shot!" Molly's voice suddenly called out from the tower to their left,
Andrea and Dale looked over and saw Billy and Molly with a rifle of their own waving over at them, "Fancy a little shoot off?!" Andrea called back,
"Gotta give me a chance to get the feel of this thing!" Billy yelled back, "After that, you're on!"
Below at the farm, Julie and Ben slowly walked through the fields with a pair of watering cans, "I wonder if he planted carrots, I love carrots," Julie hummed out,
"I'm sure he does, I think he planted, like, every vegetable known to man here. I wish he was able to plant a candybar plant...I want a candybar so bad," Ben sighed causing Julie to giggle, "I'm serious, I might jump the fence if I knew there was one on the other side in walking distance,"
"I could go for a candybar too, you know, I think Chuck has a little stash of candy left. I've seen Clem and the other kids nibbling on some chocolate once and awhile," Julie said with a grin, "He's a sweet old man,"
"Yeah, he's pretty cool, a little weird but I'd take weird over dangerous any day," Ben pointed out,
"Very true," Julie nodded in agreement,
"Hey Ben," Tyreese said while walking up to the pair, "Think you could give us a minute?"
Ben looked over to Julie whose lips were pursed and was staring daggers into her father. "Uh, sure Tyreese," Ben lowly replied,
"Thanks," Tyreese smiled back watching as the teen reluctantly walked off, "Julie, baby, we need to talk,"
"No we don't, we have nothing to fucking talk about," Julie hissed back,
"Yes we do," Tyreese firmly replied, "Listen, I can understand that you've been upset but you can't ignore me forever. I'm your father Julie, the only family you have left,"
"I have no father," Julie spat back, "I lost him the same day Carol was murdered!"
"Hey! That is not what happened, Carol took her own life, that's not my fault," Tyreese snapped out,
Julie ground her teeth for a moment before yelling out, "You did kill her asshole, you were her only thing to hold onto in all this shit! She was trying to take care of her daughter but the damn world had fallen into shit and you were that anchor!"
"Julie I-" Tyreese tried to respond,
"I don't give a flying fuck if you moved on from Carol, if you decided that you needed to move on, then you could have talked to her instead of just fucking the nearest girl!" Julie barked out,
"Michonne came onto me, and I loved Carol!" Tyreese exclaimed,
"Oh no, what a fucking horror it must have been for Michonne to have come onto you! The fear in knowing that you had no choice but to have sex with her, you poor weak thing!" Julie sarcastically retorted, "I know what it's like to hold onto someone, to know they are the only reason that you should continue, and you pretending that it isn't real...that you had nothing to do with it, it makes me sick," Julie finished and tired to turn to leave,
"Julie, you have no idea what you're talking about, if you'd just listen to me-" Tyreese replied while reaching out and grabbing his daughters arm,
"I was going to kill myself!" Julie screamed out,
"What?" Tyreese gasped back, all the air draining from his lungs,
"Chris and I, we were going to do it, we were going to just get out of this fucked up world and be together in paradise but...but Ben changed my mind, showed me how wrong that was and saved my life. Ben gave me a reason to live, and if not for him, if he wasn't there for me I'd be dead right now. That's how I know what I'm talking about Tyreese," Julie finished with an icy tone, "Now I'm done with you, don't come talk to me again, you're not my father, you're not anything to me," With that said, Julie stormed off leaving her father standing numb, tears forming in his eyes.
Over on the other side of the yard Lori and Carly sat together watching the kids, the former in tears, "It's only been two days. Just two days. He was alone longer than that in the hospital and now he's out there with Kenny, Glenn, Michonne, and Lee. I understand that you're worried, that's natural but to be assuming the worst already. There's no need for that, not yet, not after two days." Carly tried to reassure Lori,
"Are you serious?" Lori snapped back while wiping her flowing tears, "It's only been two days?! Two days out there might as well be two years! I'm freaking out here!"
"But he's not alone he has Michonne who's been out there for months, Kenny who is capable, Glenn who used to do runs into Atlanta all the time and Lee has shown to be very resourceful." Carly quickly listed off before lowering her head, "I'm sorry I'm just trying to make you feel better,"
"I know you are, I know," Lori quickly replied while lowering her face into her hands, "Just, stop, it's hard enough worrying about raising arl and a new baby in this world alone as it is, let alone worrying on doing it alone," A silence lingered between the pair before Lori heard a sniffle from Carly, the woman quickly looked up in some surprise, "Carly?"
"I'm...scared too, I want Lee to be back here, to be safe and somewhere I know where he is. Clementine is staying with me asking all these questions about him, if he's safe, dead, a walker, and I try to comfort her but I'm just...lying. I don't know where he is, and god, it's eating me up inside," Carly babbled back to the woman,
"I'm...I'm so sorry, Carly," Lori sincerely replied while reaching out and placing her hand on top of Carly's,
Meanwhile inside the prison, Hershel, Doug, Axel, Maggie, and Chuck all worked on setting up the generator. Hershel, feeling more comfortable about the state of the farm, felt that it wasn't necessarily a bad idea to focus on giving everyone something to be happy about. Even if that was only giving them a simple movie to watch or a light to read tonight. "Shine the light over there, Maggie, towards the tank,"
"Where's the tank, dad?" Maggie replied,
"I don't know, I was hoping you did," Hershel admitted with a sigh,
"Over there on the right," Doug replied as he stood at the power terminal with Chuck,
"I got it," Axel piped up while picking up his two jerry cans of gas and headed over to the fuel tank,
"Excellent, Hershel if you and Chuck could head to that control panel right across from me and turn the third switch to the left and the fifth one down, that should turn off power to the alarm," Doug said while beginning to flip some switches on the terminal in front of him,
"Absolutely, Charles, if you would?" Hershel asked causing the older man to nod,
After another long minute of everyone focusing on their jobs Axel spoke up, "So we gonna turn this thing on tonight? If it works I mean, we turning it on or are we saving the gas for something more important, you follow me?" Axel asked,
"Well I'm sure we'll vote on it, see if we want to use this more for recreation or if we really should keep it for emergency use...not exactly sure what that would mean but hey, if that's our choice I support it," Doug replied,
"Either way, the vote will wait until everyone gets back," Hershel softly interjected,
"If they get back," Chuck lowly added on. The old man's eyes flicked over to Maggie who looked at him with sunk in eyes, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean nothing by it, they'll be back...all of them,"
"I'm not stupid," Maggie sniffed while wiping her eyes, "I know it's a long shot. It's just not fun to think about, that's all,"
"Doug, are we all set to test this out? I think we should all head back out," Hershel interjected,
"You'll get no complaints from me," Axel said in agreement,
"Yeah just about ready," Doug nodded as he turned a few knobs and then flipped a final switch. Once again the lights in the room flickered on, the five let out some small smiles but Doug waited with his hand on the switch for the alarm. After another few seconds it remained silent and the nerd let out a grin, "Success,"
"Excellent work Doug, let's turn this off and we can talk about maybe seeing a movie tonight," Hershel said with an approving smile.
"That would be nice, I'm sure the kids would love it," Doug said with a smile before flipping the switch and turning off the power once more,
Back outside in the yard Otis rolled out of the cellblock and easily spotted the large bushy hair of Patricia as she sat reading alone in a lawn chair. The ginger man raised a brow and let out a soft chuckle before heading over to the woman, "Whatcha got there, missy?"
"Moby Dick, it was the only book I could find with pictures in it," Patricia replied while glancing over to the man, "How you feeling?"
"Fine, but I am through talking about me," Otis said in a firm tone, "I wanted to talk to you about somethin' important,"
"What do you have to talk to me about?" Patricia said with a small frown, immediately on the defensive,
"Look, us two, I know we don't talk to these other folk very much, sure we might talk to Hershel or his kids but other than that we're on our own," Otis explained, "And for you, I know other than me ya ain't really talking to anyone most of the time."
"So? I don't...need to talk to anyone," Patricia said indignantly,
"Patty, I'm not trying to make ya feel bad, what I'm trying to say is I'm sorry, alright?" Otis said quickly but sincerely,
"Sorry?" Patricia asked back,
"Them few weeks back, before I lost my leg and all, I said some mean things to ya and I regret it. I said I hated you and was done with ya, and that weren't right. You've been there for me since I lost my foot, and made me realize what an ass I've been. So yeah, Patty, I'm sorry, and I hope you'll forgive me and keep being my friend," Otis finished with a hopeful tone,
Patricia looked down at her book then back to Otis, her cheeks slightly pink, "I...didn't mean that I needed a book with pictures because I can't read. I'm not stupid, I just didn't want to read, I wanted to see something for once, you know?"
"Course," Otis nodded back with a low chuckle,
"You want to take a look?" Patricia asked with a small smile,
"Sure, can't read worth a damn but I'd like something to look at too," Otis replied. Patricia handed the book over to the man who for a moment was overwhelmed by the words, struggling to make them out, "Shit...well with all this sitting I'm gonna be doing, maybe I should learn to read,"
"You start practicing and I'll go get us something to drink," Patricia said while getting up and taking a few steps before leaning over and placing a short kiss on the top of Otis's head.
Just as Patricia made her way into the cellblock, Hershel and the others were making their way out of A-Block. "Well son, I gotta admit, you got that thing running right as rain," Chuck said to Doug with a respectful nod, "All that work you put in is gonna pay off for us, and I'll be the first to let you know how much I appreciate it,"
"Seriously Doug, thank you so much for figuring out how to work the generator, having power again makes everything feel so different, like we're really turning things around for us again," Maggie added in with a warm smile,
"You're welcome, I'm just happy to be of service," Doug humbily replied to the pair,
"Well thanks to you, if we can all agree on a movie, we may actually be watching a movie tonight," Hershel added on,
"Maybe we could watch that movie, you know the one that has that stupid line, "It's not a tumor" that dumb comedy," Maggie asid with a groan, "Kindergarten cop, that's the one!"
"Yeah, that's the one," Axel affirmed,
"Everyone always talked about that movie and quoted it, or well they used to," Maggie said with a short laugh, "I never saw it though,"
"I ain't bad," Axel said with a short shrug,
"Let's get the gas cans back in the garage then we can argue all we want on a movie," Hershel joked,
"Be good to get our minds off all this other crap, huh," Chuck pointed out,
"Indeed, Charles," Hershel agreed wholeheartedly,
Close to an hour passed by as the prison survivors ended up back in the yard, the only sound coming from the occasion shot from the towers. As Billy took a short break to reload his rifle he looked over to Molly, "I'd say I'm getting the hang of it pretty quickly,"
"I'll say, you're hitting every one of those dead fuckers with ease, it's like you were fucking born for it," Molly grinned,
"Ain't that hard, just point and shoot, simple as that," Billy shrugged,
"If it was as simple as that, I'd be hitting them too, I haven't gotten used to guns at all yet, but I'd bet anything you couldn't take me and Hilda on," Molly said while leaning against the railing of the tower,
"Hilda?" Billy asked with a raised brow,
"My...weapon, I know it's dumb but I gave her a name, we went through a lot together out there," Molly said with a touch of embarrassment,
"What exactly did you go through out there?" Billy asked, leaning his rifle against the railing as well, "The way you were talking about everything, sounded like something...serious happened before you got here,"
Molly let out a quick exhale and shook her head, "Nothing happened, it's just...hell out there you know? Nothing like in here, being safe,"
Billy frowned slightly, "Nothing?" He all but scoffed, "You were talking about people being animals and that we needed to be ready to defend our lives, Molly. "Nothing" don't put those kinds of ideas in your head, even I know that,"
"Being cautious doesn't mean I went through anything Billy, geez, just fucking keep shooting these pricks would ya? We're not high school bff's, we're not swapping stories and sharing our deepest darkest secrets, we're gun training, so just do that!" Molly snapped back,
Billy shook his head and picked up his rifle, "I may be the same age of Julie and Ben, but I ain't like them, I'm not just trying to act like nothing has changed and I ain't ignoring what's happening. You don't want to talk about it, that's fine, but don't act like I'm some fucking kid who doesn't have a clue," The teen muttered back before aiming through the scope of the rifle and taking another clean shot. Molly, meanwhile, hung her head for a long minute, unable to look at Billy.
Across from the pair, Andrea was loading in her final shots into her rifle, "Damn, Billy is pretty fucking good with that gun, I think I might actually have a challenger for best shot," Andrea smirked, "In all honesty, though, it's a good thing. It's nice to know that we can fill these towers with good shots and pick people off if we ever ended up getting attacked,"
"Attacked?" Dale asked back in surprise, "What do you mean attacked, sure we'll have plenty of walkers at our fences but I don't think I'd count that as an attack,"
"I don't mean walkers, Dale. Do you remember when we found this place, how happy we were, how safe it felt? We're not the only ones out there Dale, what happens if a group shows up, bigger than ours, and they are like Dexter? What if they don't want to share, we need to be prepared to protect ourselves," Andrea firmly said as Dale's eyes went wide, "What? I'm not saying it's a guarantee, it might never happened but it's safe to be-"
"Andrea, look," Dale cut her off while pointing out towards the horizon,
Outside the prison, dashing between the walkers in the fields, a man in riot gear sprinted towards the front gate, knocking down walkers left and right. "Guys!" Billy screamed out, "Do you see him!?"
"Yeah, we have to get the gate open!" Andrea called back while jumping to her feet,
"I'm on it!" Dale exclaimed while sprinting down the tower's stairs.
Billy and Molly quickly followed suit, racing down to the ground floor, hitting the ground floor at the same time as Andrea and Dale. "Billy, Molly go get everyone you can, we need to get this gate open and keep the walkers back!
The pair sprinted off, waving their arms and screaming out, "Everyone get to the gate, someone is coming, Now! Now!"
"Fuck we don't have time for this!" Dale growled out while turning and running off,
"Where are you going?!" Andrea exclaimed,
"Just be ready when I get back, and have that damn gate open!" Dale called back,
Chuck, Axel, and Tyreese were the first to reach Andrea at the gate, each running over and grabbing hold of the wire fence, "How many did you see?" Tyreese quickly asked,
"Just the one," Andrea replied,
"So it's-" Axel began to say,
"We don't know anything yet!" Andrea quickly snapped out,
The four survivors began to pull the gate open, struggling as they went, "Where is Dale going?" Chuck grunted,
"Doesn't matter, just keep pulling!" Tyreese commanded,
The pair quickly got the first gate open then moved to the second, pulling it open as quickly as they could, "Christ why the fuck we keeping all three closed again?" Axel groaned, "One would do the fucking job,"
"We can add gate power to Doug's list of generator options later, alright!" Tyreese huffed back while the four moved to the final gate,
"Wait, y'all hear that?" Chuck asked as he heard the sound of a sharp blowback and gravel flying up, "The hell is that?"
Andrea looked back and her eyes bugged out, "Oh shit, here comes Dale, get the gate open now!"
Just as the final gate got halfway open Dale came speeding by in his RV, slamming into half a dozen walkers, splattering them all over the front of the vehicle. He slammed on the breaks and put his head out the window, "Get in and I'll drive us back in!" The old man called out to the survivor in the riot suit,
The man pushed his way through the crowd of undead and leapt forward, grabbing onto the open door, hanging on for dear life as Dale shifted into reverse. The RV lurched backwards at full speed, running down another five walkers that were slowly starting to flood in the open gate.
"We've got to get these gates closed now! We need to push the dead back now and close them or this is all over!" Andrea exclaimed while pulling out her side arm,
"Where fuck is everyone?!" Axel shouted out while shoving a walker away from him,
"Watch out!" Chuck sharply yelled out, picking up a shovel that leaned by the fences and swinging at a walker that nearly snuck up behind Axel and whacking it in the head.
Lori arrived with the rest of the survivors in tow who quickly pushed towards the gate and began to take shots at the invading walker horde. Lori quickly moved to the survivor in the riot suit who sat on his knees panting hard. "My god, what happened, are you alright?"
The man reached up and pulled off his helmet, "I'm...fine, I'm fine," Mark nearly gasped back as he wiped the pouring sweat from his face, "I couldn't find a trace of them, I found their car, it got stuck in the mud. I followed their tracks into the woods but I lost them, couldn't find the helicopter either. Wrecked my bike on the way back, had to run all the way back. Thank fuck the suits work," Mark coughed out while Lori cupped her mouth and started to cry,
Mark narrowed his eyes and got to his feet, "Don't do that, I knew I should have went with them that day, and until I find the bodies I won't accept that they are dead! I won't stop looking! They are out there, somewhere, and I'll find them, I swear Lori,"
Mark then took a few quick breaths and turned around to the gate, "Mark, what are you-"
"I gotta help, if we don't get these gates closed, when Rick, Kenny, Glenn, Lee, and Michonne get back we won't be here!" Mark exclaimed while putting his helmet back on and rushing back towards the gate, pulling out a riot baton that was looped to his belt.
Back in Woodbury, only minutes prior to The Governor and Oberson confronting Rick and Kenny in the infirmary, Larry and Lilly were sitting in the center of town at the gazebo. "You're running low on pills again dad," Lilly lowly reminded the man, "You'll need to stay as relaxed as you can until I get us more,"
"Nevermind that Lilly, I'm fine, I promise," Larry assured his daughter,
"Dad, you know the rules," Lilly hissed back, "If Oberson hears about you having an episode and realizes that you need pills for your heart...you'll be dead,"
"It's not going to happen, Lilly, I promise," Larry sharply replied, "Now be quiet a minute, I'm trying to think, that fella who showed up here the other day, I recognized him,"
"Is that seriously important right now dad? Who cares how you know this guy, I'm trying to make sure you stay alive!" Lilly exclaimed with a toss of her hands,
"He was from Macon, I know that," Larry muttered under his breath, lost in his thoughts causing Lilly to let out a loud growl or frustration before storming off. "Levi? Levi Evers? No, no, not that...fuck me," Larry gasped out, "Lee fucking Everett, the damn murderer!" The man finally said with a set of wide eyes.
It was just then that Larry noticed Oberson, Bruce, and The Governor making their way down to the infirmary. Wasting no time the old vet got to his feet and rushed over to the trio, "Oberson, Governor, I got something you need to hear!" His rough voice called out causing the trio to halt,
"Oh for fuck sakes," Oberson whispered under his breath,
The Governor raised a brow, "Larry, what is it this time?"
"That man," Larry said with a quick huff as he caught his breath, "The one that showed up the other night in the riot suit, the black one? His name is Lee Everett,"
Oberson and The Governor raised their eyebrows in surprise, "We know Larry, we got...acquainted with him the other night," The Governor replied,
"How do you know him?" Oberson asked,
"I don't know him personally, what I do know is the sonofabitch is a killer! He murdered a state fucking senator only weeks before all this shit started! He was taken to prison, locked up, and now he's out roaming the fucking streets! If he's still here you need to kill that fucking monster before he kills one of us!" Larry exclaimed,
"He was in prison, huh?" Oberson replied, "You know which one?"
"What? No, why the fuck would I? That's not important, what's important is that you two do your jobs and keep us fucking safe!" Larry barked back,
"Trust us Larry, we are going to do just that, we have the main detained," The Governor smoothly said, "As you can see he was indeed a monster, he attacked us, took off my ear actually," The Governor said causing Larry's eyes to bug out as he saw the bandage, "We were trying to figure what to do with him but clearly his just a vicious killer, and death might very well be the best choice. Thank you for your help Larry, you may have just saved many lives from that monster,"
"I'm just looking out for my daughter," Larry replied with a sense of relief,
"Of course, as any father should," Oberson nodded, "How about you get yourself a rifle and head onto watch, make sure none of Lee's prisoner friends show up, huh?"
"Consider it done," Larry nodded back and headed off, walking with clear purpose,
"Larry Caul...thank you," The Governor smirked as he turned and continued down to the infirmary.
A few minutes later the trio was walking out of the infirmary having just planted their lie on Rick and Kenny, "Boss, I'm not so sure it work," Bruce said,
"Quiet idiot, they could still hear you," Oberson hissed back,
"Don't worry, it worked," The Governor confidently replied as he lead the other two forward,
"How do you know, they didn't say anything," Bruce asked while scratching his head,
"Their faces said it all, can you believe that Oberson, a prison only a few miles away from here. It's gotta be loaded with supplies," The Governor grinned,
"Hell, I'd wager it's more protected and safer than anything we could build to protect this place," Oberson replied, "We could pack up and just move right down there,"
"Now we know what we're looking for, and we have a damn tenet locked up under the race track. But if Lee Everett doesn't want to talk then we ask around, someone has got to know about this prison," The Governor finished with a devilish grin.
Alright so that was a fun chapter to write with a nice cliffhanger ending, next chapter we'll be following what happens as the dead invade the prison and what will continue to happen in Woodbury with Rick, Kenny, Lee, and Michonne! I also liked that I was able to give nearly every character a scene, and was especially happy I finally had Julie and Tyreese confront each other about their issues. So anyway, please let me know what you thought and just wanted to give extra thanks since last chapter was the most reviewed chapter thus far! You guys are great, and I'll see you in the next one!
