This one-shot is a request from Ally R. Swan, her request is: I would love to see one where Emma kept Henry or during the year in New York where Henry gets sick and Emma takes care of him ...lots of Emma mama bear comforting.

I'm going to base this with Emma keeping Henry. But I'm changing some things, like out of jail (during the time she got her GED) she went into like training program, and got a decent job. I was thinking like maybe she learned computers, so maybe she is like a assistant or receptionist.

I do not own OUAT or its characters, just my imagination.

Chapter 208: Sick days

Emma carefully balances four-year-old Henry, as she opens her apartment door. His legs are wrapped around her waist, his arms loosely around her neck, as his head lays on her shoulder. She manages getting the door, setting down her bag, and his little back pack on the floor, closing and locking the door, before walking more inside their home. She can easily tell just while holding him, he had a small fever, she gives his forehead a gentle kiss, before quietly saying "Let's take a quick warm bath, and put on jammies, how does that sound huh?" she asks, as she moves into the living room.

Henry simply nods, barely moving his head from her shoulder. It broke her heart seeing him so sad. She could tell that morning he wasn't quite himself, but he said he felt okay, so she went to work, and him to his pre-school/day care. It was barely nine o'clock when she got the call, Henry had thrown up; thankfully it all made it in the garbage can, none on him, or the staff.

After Henry agrees to the bath, along with getting to wear his favorite dinosaur jammies, Emma works fast to get Henry ready for a bath. The bath goes well getting him washed up and dried, once his jammies are on, he seems to brighten up a bit. Next was getting him comfy. Setting him up on the couch with his pillow and a blanket (she went with his Olaf one, if was fuzzy and perfect for cuddles), and lastly a bucket in case he needed to get sick anymore.

Emma then goes to change her clothes, so she was comfy as well. She comes over to the couch and squats down, placing a hand lightly on his stomach, and feeling his forehead "Alright kiddo, let's get you some medicine then we can cuddle with a movie okay?"

Henry nods, pulling the blanket up over him more "Okay… can we watch Robin Hood?"

Emma smiles, it was his new favorite movie, she had gotten it cheap at the store, thinking he'd love it, and he did. "Robin Hood it is kiddo. After medicine though."

Henry nods "Okay mommy… yucky medicine first."

Emma gives him a sad smile, as she strokes back his still damp hair "Alright, let me get you the medicine and something to drink to wash it down with." Emma gets up, doing so. Making sure to get his favorite cars up, at this point she'd do whatever for her kid to feel a ounce better. She measures out the liquid medicine, and brings the cup of juice over with her. Setting the stuff down on the little table first she sits Henry up, then gets him to take the medicine "There you go buddy… this will make you feel not so yucky" she says then kisses his head as he sips his juice. Emma gently pulls his blanket a bit more around him "What do you say we get that movie going?"

Henry nods "Yes please mama."

"Alright, I'll get it going, and as soon as I get back, we'll get cuddles, okay?" Emma asks, she earns a nod, so she heads to the TV to get the movie going. Once down, she grabs the remote and goes back to the couch. She sits down, pulling Henry into her lap, getting him wrapped up in his blanket again. She hits play, and the movie starts.

As the movie plays, Henry perks up a bit, which makes Emma smile. She was hoping she'd be able to get to clean while he watched, but instead she stayed with him. Holding and rocking him, just wanting him to feel better. Henry in response cuddled into her, taking her back to when he was a baby, when they had so little. Things had changed, although, they didn't have a lot still, it had gotten better.

Emma see's that Henry was fighting sleep, she kisses his forehead, and whispers "You can sleep kid, it's okay…"

"Gotta see Robin win Marian" Henry says sleepily.

Emma grins "We can always watch it again later buddy. You need sleep."

Henry nods, cuddling into her more. He still tries to fight the sleep. But as the arrow shooting contest comes up on the screen, Henry's eyes lost the battle to stay open.

Emma smiles, then carefully gets up, and laying him down, resting his head on his pillow. She strokes back a few locks of his hair, and feels his forehead; his fever had gone down, not totally gone, but it was better then nothing "Sleep tight little man" she smiles at him "I'll be right here when you wake up."

Alright, I hope you all enjoyed this one I'm hoping to do more writing since I am at home the next two weeks. So hopefully I can. Until next time…
