Chapter 1381
Figure It Out Later
Cammy and Savannah moved to the side of the storage shed away from the door. Hank was on their side and moved to cover the back of the shed. 'Coltan Overcast' covered the front and the other side of the shed. Its minigun was ready to fire.
Cammy debated to call for whoever was in the shed to come out or just shoot them through the wall. The Coltan rounds in her M4 should penetrated and find their mark. She looked at the image on her phone and then raised her M4.
"I'm going to 'pop' him." Cammy said.
Savannah did not think they had a 'clean' target.
"We don't know who it is." Savannah said. "We don't know where they came from."
Cammy didn't want to take any chances.
"We can figure it out later when we examine the body." Cammy said.
Larry was able to get the digital lock to work at the back door on the building.
"I have a green light on the rear door." Larry said. "We can enter the building."
Savannah thought Cammy was going to fire through the side of the shed anyway.
"We don't know if they are a Fanatic or not." Savannah said.
Cammy lowered her M4 quickly and moved Savannah further away from the shed.
"Maybe something will blow up when I shoot him." Cammy said.
Savannah wanted Hank a safer distance away as well.
"Hank, I want you to fallback some more." Savannah said.
Hank immediately moved further back.
Savannah thought 'Coltan Overcast' was good since it was high enough to be out of human hearing range.
Larry opened the rear door of the main building after he checked for any booby traps.
Savannah wondered who gave him that order. She was going to do that herself.
Cammy looked at the rear of the building and back at the shed.
"We should go inside." Cammy said. "Hank can keep things under control out here."
Savannah didn't want anyone to act on the shed as soon as she went into the building. That seemed to be what was on Cammy's mind. She looked at Hank when she spoke.
"Unless the figure moves, I don't want anyone to do anything yet." Savannah said. "That could be anything from a patsy to a prisoner in there."
Cammy was sure it was Skynet related. She thought about shooting them through the wall anyway again.
"It's most likely a Gray or a Fanatic." Cammy said.
Savannah and Cammy reached the back door. Larry went in before them. She wanted some order.
"Cammy will lead." Savannah said. "I will follow her and you will bring up the rear."
Larry nodded.
"Affirmative." Larry said.
Cammy looked at Savannah and passed Larry. They headed for the 'clean room'.
Young Allison suggested Larry enter the building first as soon as he was able to open the rear door.
Anna thought that was a mistake.
"Savannah is not going to like that." Anna said.
Young Allison was aware that they didn't always like the way she did things.
"Nonetheless, it's happening." Young Allison said.
John Henry relayed the information to him.
Young Allison also watched the drone footage from San Francisco.
"That problem looks resolved." Young Allison said.
Anna doubted that.
"Those three girls are going to ask a lot of questions by the end of that flight." Anna said.
Young Allison did not see that as too big of a problem.
"Cameron will cover it up." Young Allison said.
They watched Cammy take the lead and enter the building.
Young Allison and Cammy focused their attention on that operation now.
Ken and Lou remained behind the controls of the Blackhawk. They gave a narration of the sights. When they took off from Golden Gate Park they headed north and started back at the Golden Gate Bridge and repeated the first part of the tour again for the benefit of the three new girls. John, Vanna and Allison all appreciated it again too.
Cameron sat next to John. Holly moved next to Allison and Gail-Cam moved next to Vanna.
The 'pair ups' were not lost on Mary, Laura and Leticia.
That left Sheila to interact with the three girls. She made sure all of them were undamaged. She personally inspected them.
The girls from the ship didn't know what to think. There was a lot to process. One thing was for sure-to all of them. It was a 'close one' for a lot of bad things to happen.
"Did I hear gunfire earlier?" Mary asked.
Sheila knew that was part of the act. It happened out of the view of those in the back of the helicopter.
"You saw where we were." Sheila said. "There was no gunfire there. It was probably a 'clunker' in need of a tune up and it backfired a few times. That was not the best neighborhood near there. Let's enjoy the flight for now."
They would circle the bay and come back across it when they passed Berkley on the return leg of the flight. They would parallel the Bay Bridge and overfly Treasure Island.
Mary, Laura and Leticia seemed a little more relaxed and started to really enjoy the view. Sheila constantly touched them as she pointing out things that Ken or Lou did not mention.
It was clear that the three of them were infatuated by Sheila since she'd been at the heart of 'saving' them a few times. She openly fondled each of them from behind at times as she interacted with them.
Cameron watched Sheila and was pleased how she controlled Mary, Laura and Leticia. She glanced at Vanna and Allison every now and then. They looked a little jealous. That seemed illogical to her since they were the ones who'd actually shared with Mary and Laura already, not Sheila.
John took it all in. He was not sure what Cameron planned but he was ready to find out. He was sure that someone in the helicopter was going to be in his bed tonight besides just Cameron.
Cameron scanned John several times during the flight. She just finished a scan now.
She casually touched his crotch area.
"Don't worry; I'll make sure 'Little Willie' finds a nice 'home' for tonight." Cameron said. "He may end up in a new place. It will be warm, smooth and tight."
John smiled and nodded. He knew that Cameron would do whatever she wanted. It was what she always did.
"I can't wait." John said. "They're all beautiful but not as beautiful as you."
Cameron smiled at John and gave him a quick kiss. She wanted nothing but the best for him.
Savannah and Cammy entered the building. They were familiar with the layout since they'd been inside earlier. There was the chance that the Grays inside knew they were about to get 'hit' and rigged the place with a few surprises for them.
Cammy moved towards the clean room. She checked for any trip wires or booby traps. She didn't spot any. There weren't any new surveillance cameras spotted. Everything looked like it did before.
She went over and looked at the computer terminal she'd used earlier. It was turned off now. It looked like just about everything else was as well.
Cammy motioned for Savannah and Larry to hang back a little as she began to inspect the outside of the clean room. There was only one door in and if anything was wired to explode it would be that one door.
She was able to move around the front and the side of the clean room. It was raised about a foot and a half off of the workroom floor since it was a recent addition. It actually looked like a prefab type room that could be assembled in kit form. She looked at the back and the other side and saw they were separate walls from the building walls in the corner it was in.
The raised floor had several access panels that could be opened or removed from the side that faced into the building. It did not look like there was any place for anyone to go here. There was room for someone to be underneath but it was probably crowded under there.
Cammy scanned the clean room using several vision spectrums and found nothing out of the ordinary. That left her two choices. She could open the door to the clean room with the keypad. She was able to observe the combination earlier. The other choice was to remove one of the panels on the side at the bottom and try and gain entry that way through the floor of the clean room. Either way could be booby trapped.
Savannah did not like being in the building. She was sure there was more at play than they could see.
Cammy moved back to Savannah.
"I'm going to remove one of the side panels and enter from the floor." Cammy whispered.
Savannah and Cammy received an update from John Henry.
They looked at each other when they heard what he had to say.
Young Allison and Anna focused on Cammy's and Savannah's operation.
They could see things in real time with the body cams that the team wore.
They watched what Cammy checked out along with Savannah's and Larry's body cams' as well.
"I think Cammy's plan is flawed." Young Allison said.
Anna was not sure how.
"It seems less of a risk that going in the door." Anna said.
Young Allison saw it as 'low hanging fruit'.
"That's just it." Young Allison said. "It makes it the 'easier' choice."
"Yes." Anna said.
Young Allison looked at the clean room.
"The clean room looks like an 'add-on' room of some kind." Young Allison said. "It does not extend to the ceiling. It's not even close."
Plans for the room additions showed up on their screens. CamNet sent them the information.
Anna began to get Young Allison's drift.
"You think they can remove a roof panel and then a ceiling panel on the clean room to enter from the top. That would not be a standard entry method." Anna said.
Young Allison nodded.
"Which means it should not be booby trapped." Young Allison said.
Anna transmitted the information to John Henry. He received the assembly instructions for that specific prefab room addition. What was put together, could be taken apart.
Savannah wondered if this new information was really from CamNet or Young Allison. She liked the fresh thinking and unconventional ideas that came out of the Young bunker and CamNet. They went to the custodian's room and found his tool kit.
Cammy called Larry over and climbed up on top of him to get onto the roof of the clean room. He lifted Savannah by the waist. She handed Cammy the tool kit first and then Cammy pulled her up on top. Larry moved back where he could cover the front and side of the clean room if anyone made a break for it. They doubted anyone was there.
The clean room addition was recent enough that there was very little dust build up on top it. There were several small exhaust vents for some of the cooling inside. The electrical hook ups were all underneath in the small crawlspace.
Cammy moved over to the far vent and quickly unscrewed it. She took off the cover. There was a solid tube inside underneath it. That did not allow her to see anything. She moved to the far corner and began to unscrew the roof panel. Savannah move to the back with her and pointed her M4 towards the roof. She would fire through the roof if any shots emanated from within. Larry was poised to fire into the side of the clean room from his position.
Savannah watched as Cammy removed a two by four foot section of the roof. There was insulation underneath it. Cammy pulled that out so all that was there now was some wiring and the ceiling panel inside.
Cammy was able to move the wiring to the side out of the way and pry up the ceiling panel. She slid it forward over the top of the one next to it. It was a two by two foot square.
Savannah was impressed that Cammy was able to do all of that in just under a minute.
The interior lights were on in the clean room. Cammy bent her head down and took a look inside. The room appeared empty. It looked as if all the hard drives were missing from the mainframe computer as they suspected they would be.
Before Savannah could protest, Cammy rotated around and carefully dropped inside.
Cammy landed on her feet and looked around. The floor panels were pulled up in the far corner by the door. There was a block of C-4 above the door. It looked like it was rigged to explode when the door was opened. She was glad that Savannah prevented her from entering that way.
She moved over and looked inside the missing floor panel. There was a smaller block of C-4 rigged to one of the access doors on the side. If they tried to enter by either of the two obvious ways to get in, they would have experienced a 'problem'. It would have been a big one.
Cammy quickly disarmed both of the bombs and removed the detonators. They were both set to explode with a mechanical trigger. There was no radio or other electrical hookup attached to them.
She motioned for Savannah to drop inside with her. She went over and assisted her down inside the clean room.
Savannah looked around. She was about to speak when Cammy motioned for her to be silent.
Cammy checked where she'd left the listening device. It was still there. She checked it to see why it stopped working earlier. It was in good order and it worked fine. The transmission frequency was what was different. The Gray's modified it to become their listening device. It now transmitted on an altered frequency. She indicated to Savannah what the situation was.
Savannah nodded. She didn't like it that the Gray's booby trapped the clean room when they'd pulled out. All the computer gear was gone that mattered. They must have left the listening device so they could hear when the clean room exploded. That meant they were out of the area at this point and would not hear it on their own. If that were the case, a direct counter attacked seemed unlikely.
Cammy opened the clean room door to the outside and was met with Larry's M4 pointed at her. She indicated he be quiet. She contacted John Henry and told him to set up a dummy feed and try and track the frequency the bug was now set to. Once that was done she returned to the clean room and removed the bug. She explained to Savannah what she'd just done.
"We don't have anything to go on unless John Henry can find that frequency." Cammy said. "This place was cleaned out."
Savannah was afraid this was what they were going to find.
"What is the range on the bug?" Savannah asked. "It can't be very far."
John Henry interrupted them.
"The frequency traces to the rear parking lot of the building you are in." John Henry said.
They both knew that was the storage shed in the back.
"Is it tied into something else?" Savannah asked.
"Unknown." John Henry said. "The signal stops there."
Cammy wondered about whoever was in the shed.
"What is the status of the heat signature inside the shed?" Cammy asked.
John Henry checked the drone feed.
"It is still there in the same place." John Henry said.
It seemed unlikely to Cammy and Savannah at this point that it was a person inside the shed. It was unlikely it was a living person anyway.
Savannah took over security so Larry could join Cammy and go through what was left in the clean room. Larry went underneath the floor to check it out as well. They emerged four minutes later. They replaced the ceiling panel and the floor panel. They exited and closed the door behind them.
Cammy did not look happy. Somehow they got away with everything and got away clean.
"They took everything and eluded us." Cammy said. "Let's go."
Savannah followed Cammy out the back. Larry secured everything behind them.
They approached near the shed in the back.
"There's been no change here." Hank reported.
Cammy nodded and moved toward the shed. She reached for the door.
"Wait." Savannah said. "It is probably wired the same way as the clean room door."
Cammy expected as much.
"I'll check first." Cammy said.
Since she saw how the other two bombs were rigged so she knew what to look for. As she opened the door slightly she hoped that the same person would have rigged this door as who rigged the other two booby traps. If this one was done by a different person it could be set to go off differently. She found the bomb right away at the top of the door and disarmed it. She opened the door but did not enter.
Savannah moved up and came to look inside. It was dark in the interior.
Cammy wanted to warn Savannah.
"I have a body." Cammy said. "It isn't pretty."
Savannah paused.
"Who is it?" Savannah asked. "Is it the representative?"
Cammy scanned what remained of the facial features.
"It is one of the Grays that was inside the clean room." Cammy said.
That didn't make any sense at first.
"They must have thought he was either a Fanatic or from the anti-Metal faction." Savannah said. "Was he tortured?"
Cammy looked in the shed but did not enter.
"Apparently." Cammy said. "You don't need to deal with this."
Larry and Hank were there now.
"We will check the shed and take care of this." Larry said.
Savannah did not want to run out on them. She was willing to do the dirty work too.
"I can help." Savannah said.
Cameron's Terminators were used to the 'dirty work' as they conducted her operations.
"We have this." Hank said. "If we turn up anything we will let you know."
Savannah was worried where that would lead.
"If there is anything on the anti-Metal faction I need to know personally." Savannah said.
"Affirmative." Hank and Larry both said.
Savannah did not want any information suppressed.
"If you find anything on the Grays or Fanatics run it through John Henry and he will make the determination on how best to proceed." Savannah said.
Cammy led Savannah away.
"Let's get back to our SUV." Cammy said. "This looks like a dead end for the night."
Savannah wanted to know how the Gray's eluded them and made a clean get away.
"I want a drone to remain here for the duration of the night." Savannah said.
Cammy wondered what for.
"Why?" Cammy asked. "Do you think they will come back?"
Savannah was not even sure they'd left at this point.
"I really don't know." Savannah said.
Richard and Michael picked them up down the street a few minutes later in the delivery van. They let them off at Cammy's SUV.
"We will go back and assist Larry and Hank." Richard said.
Savannah touched Richard and Michael as she spoke.
"I need any leads on the anti-Metal faction sent directly to me." Savannah said.
"Affirmative." Michael and Richards both said.
Savannah climbed in the SUV with Cammy.
"Let's go." Savannah said.
Anna was pleased that Young Allison called it.
"You did a good job." Anna said.
Young Allison was not convinced of that.
"Not if we let the Grays slip through our fingers." Young Allison said. "They shouldn't have been able to elude us."
Anna knew that both John Henry and CamNet went over all the drone footage again. There were times in the high altitude orbit that not every part of the building was visible to its fullest. They Grays must have been lucky and made their moves during those times. It was highly doubtful the Grays knew they were under drone surveillance. They could not have known where they looked at any given time either.
Anna wondered when Young Allison would bring up the dead man.
"They must have suspected the man they killed before Cammy made her appearance." Young Allison said. "They suspected him and probably played him. They probably figured that Cammy's arrival up was initiated by him."
Anna did not know. It was all speculation.
"He may have just been a Gray too that they didn't trust." Anna said. "Remember all Grays are 'sellouts'."
Young Allison wanted a solid lead.
"I want something on those two Grays that got away. I want the 'Skynet' that they have." Young Allison said.
Anna knew they all wanted that. None of them liked getting played.
"Things like this happen." Anna said. "More things like this will happen too. It is inevitable. Don't make it personal. It will cloud your judgment."
Young Allison was aware of that. It just seem that they got played on a few different levels on this one.
"It's all personal if it's Skynet related." Young Allison said. "Skynet is the enemy. I know what they did to the future and those in it."
Young Allison really hoped they could prevent Skynet from doing it all again.
There were four Terminators that remained in the vicinity of the incident that took place in the park. There would not be any police response.
It looked like the homeless people crawled back into their cardboard boxes and filthy sleeping bags. There was no threat. There was no sign either of the street gang.
Hanna and Ally led Bob and Jim back to the convertible. It was a little worse for the wear.
There was steam coming up around the side of the hood. The car now had a noticeable lean to one side as well. There was some suspension damage of some type.
"The vehicle is damaged." Bob said. "It is unsafe and unreliable to use."
Hanna and Allison could see the rag top was in poor condition. They were lucky to have made it to where they did..
"Just be glad you were not in it as it ended up in that condition." Hanna said. "That was quite a ride to say the least. It should have been filmed and put in a movie."
Ally figured the description was out on the car anyway at this point. It was involved in multiply incidents as they hurried to get to the park.
"There is probably going to be an APB out on it soon anyway." Ally said. "A few cars were in Sheila's way. She made room anyway."
Jim thought that would be awhile before the police became involved.
"John Henry will suppress everything." Jim said. "Most of those incidents will never actually get reported. They would just be squelched."
They noted that there was no one around the area. That seemed unusual. They thought the helicopter landing in the park would draw some 'lookiloos'. There could have been a few other influencing factors involved.
"I think the gunfire scared off anyone who thought about coming to see what happened with the helicopter being so low." Bob said.
Jim felt John Henry or CamNet would suppress or spin anything related to them.
"I don't think we need to worry about it." Jim said.
Ally looked around. It was time to leave.
"I don't feel like walking back to the ship." Ally said. "Let's get some wheels."
Hanna came up with an idea. She'd seen the brochures and ads. There were some things that looked like 'fun' to do. They were at least interesting.
"Maybe we can ride a cable car." Hanna said. "I'd like to do that."
Jim and Bob both thought that was an inefficient form of transportation.
Ally liked the idea.
"That sounds like fun." Ally said. "I want to do that too."
The 'Neural Interface' from both Vanna and Allison was evident in Hanna and Anna.
Jim and Bob could see that the Metal girls really wanted to do that. Cameron always wanted them to expand and grow. It seemed like a relative easy way to interact with the city.
"We can do that." Bob said.
Jim already knew the layout of the city. There were several ways to get to one of the three cable car routes. Two of the routes shared about half of the same route before they split. Even at that they were separated by only a few blocks.
"It is only about a mile or so." Jim said.
Hanna was pleased that Bob and Jim were onboard.
"That won't take us long." Hanna said.
Ally wondered about walking there this late at night. After the 'riff raff' they'd just encountered, there could be more trouble or incidents along the way.
"This isn't going to be like 'The Warriors' is it?" Ally asked.
Bob and Jim looked at each other. The name sounded threatening.
"What's that?" Bob asked.
Hanna knew what it was. She'd watched the movie with Claire before. It was somewhat disturbing. The 'Vanna' in her was troubled by it. She was ready to act.
"It's a world of hurt for any group, street gang or anyone else that gets in our way." Hanna said.
Ally and Hanna smiled and 'high fived' each other.
"In that case it's too bad Sheila is not with us." Ally said. "It would be her kind of inner city journey."
Hanna smiled.
"Can you dig it?" Hanna asked.
Ally smiled at the reference to the movie.
"I guess we'll find out." Ally said.
Bob and Jim did not want any more trouble. They were at least glad they got to have some time out with John and the girls. It seemed the Metal girls were up to some adventure as well now.
Cam-Gail listened and monitored everything that the team was up to from the Control Center on the ship. She quickly accesses and downloaded the movie 'The Warriors' to see what type of trouble would be encountered. She did not think they should risk any damage to their sheaths on the way back. She would track them and make sure she could prevent any unnecessary encounters.
John Henry was dissatisfied with the results from the location that Cammy and Savannah visited.
He was also worried about the events in San Francisco. His server was busy trying to cover up, alter or suppress the path Sheila took through town in the convertible. Luckily no one was killed but there were a few accidents that were caused. Most of those were very minor.
He would let JH, his server, deal with all that. He wanted to concentrate on where they Grays went.
CamNet was amused somewhat with the antics and events in San Francisco. She was also deeply troubled that she'd seemed to let Savannah and Young Allison down by the Grays escaping with some version of Skynet.
Four of her Terminators were there now at the building location. She wanted some answers and she wanted a few clues. She told them to check everything four times. Each one would do it on their own.
This was not over yet.
