The focus was now east Gotham - the docks and predominantly black neighborhoods surrounding them. And within these neighborhoods were many suspected Islamic bases of operation. Cops didn't usually go to these areas anyway; this was true in most similar places. This enabled the enemy to flourish; to take their guerrilla operations against the western world to the next level. We had to be the counter version of them in every way. I'd wanted these jihadist scum removed long before brother's involvement; this just motivated that desire more. This wasn't how I'd wanted it to go down but it had needed to go down this way for a long time; even Bats had agreed to that much. And as much as I didn't want to see extremes flourish here they had to. There was no better way; short of letting this crap continue or brother unleashing hell in fullness upon the world. Neither had vast appeal at this point.
Thus here I was. GPD had gone into these target areas under force and with full mayoral backing going through the governor and ultimately to Lex's desk to see these jobs done. We would put the spotlight onto them before hitting them with everything we had. The national guard remained on standby to go into the hoods and ghettos as needed. We would flush them out put them to ground and cut them all down if needed.
I landed at the GCPD's mobile command center. Commissioner James Gordon was there. A close ally/friend of Batman he obviously didn't want to see me; but his orders from the mayor and above had been clear. It was either he did his job with me or he'd be pulled/replaced by someone who would.
He saw me and gave a small nod but nothing more. "What's the situation commissioner?" He pointed to a monitor that showed five key areas that would be the first in a series of raid sites. The warrants had all been issued by local/federal courts to make this happen. "These are all located in mostly black areas," he said. "The jihadists are located deep within the hearts of each. These sites are not new to us; but we know they've been flourishing for some time now. Once these are done we'll proceed to the mostly Hispanic ones where notorious gangs and cartels are also centered. Our orders are to arrest/deport all possible, citizen or not." "I thought we were only removing non citizens?" "I did so too, but the white house said that any citizen that is aiding these criminal groups in any way will be deported with them. If they ever try to return they will be killed on sight."
"Commissioner...I'm sorry about Batman..." I knew nothing I would say would change anything on that end. I hadn't expected it to. It was just that we needed to work together. He gave a small nod, to my surprise. "I heard about your brother Hades killing superheroes behind the scenes. This is obviously much bigger than anything we can imagine." I nodded. "We just have to make the best of it." Gordon was very much still angry; he was doing this for his family and his men. That would keep everything else at bay for now.
"Commissioner - we're ready," said a swat officer. "Good," said Gordon. "Let's do it. Wonder woman - pick your target and lead the way." "I will." I pointed to the deadliest target on the monitor. "I'll go here. I'll soften them up enough to give you guys the advantage you need to take them down completely for good." He nodded; we rolled out.
