In Between Us
Chapter 17
4 years Later
Haley smiled as she looked over the photos of her sons. That were displayed throughout the home. These past few years required growth and healing.
Her career had blown up. In a way she never expected. She was now under new management. All those nights and evenings performing at Tric paid off. She is the performer on the rise. Her performances sell out no matter the venue size. She has a loyal and growing fan base.
When the boys were a year old Haley moved out of the home she and Nathan used to share. And into a large, multi level house.
Her sons had their own room. The master suite was on the third floor and the guest suite was on the ground floor. Tucked away with it's own kitchen and bathroom.
From sleepless nights and doing nothing but cleaning, changing, and feeding. To having two 4 year old growing boys. Who were running on endless energy and gave her life meaning.
They would be starting preschool in the morning and both felt differently about it. For the young mother she was excited to see them begin this new chapter but she had this growing sense of worry leaving them with people she didn't reallly know even if it was school.
"Momma look i did it. I wrote my name nice and neat. Just like you showed me. Ryan Hunter James." The dark hair haired brown eyed boy exclaimed happily.
Haley walked over to where he was seated. Running her hands through his hair.
"I'm proud of you Ry. You and you're brother need to get some sleep. Preschool is only in a few hours. I'll read you both a story then it's lights out." Haley said.
"But momma it's the last day of summer can't we play for awhile longer.?" The young boy asked. A whining tone in his voice.
"No you can't. You're a growing boy sleep and a proper breakfast. Is a needed. To make sure you grow up to be big and strong. Now march up those stairs." Haley said. The tone in her voice sterner this time.
Her second son Greyson Axel James. Was loveable, kept her on her feet, and you never knew what to expect. He looks mirrored his father's.
"Alright i'll go to bed but i want two bedtime stories." The young boy announced as he raced up the stairs.
"Wait for me!" Ryan exclaimed. Running after his brother up the staircase.
Haley picked up the remaining loose items before heading upstairs for bed. She gazed over at the clock. 8pm. This was her life now and she wouldn't trade it for a second.

Hours Later
In the morning
The aromas of french toast, bacon, and peppermint tea lingered throughout the home after washing their dishes the boys grabbed their backpacks and ran towards the front door awaiting it to open.
Nathan walked through the front door smiling down at them.
"Daddy's here.!" The boys exclaimed happily.
Nathan opened his arms they ran to him. He engulfed them in a hug. When he let them go from his arms.
They walked back towards their mother. Hugging and kissing her goodbye before they ran towards the front door. Awaiting their father in his car in the backseat all buckled up with their backpacks in tow.
Haley smiled up at Nathan. "I texted you their first day of school picture. How is everything on you're end.?" She asked.
"Adeline Serenity Scott. She's able to sign her name. Better then i expected. So you'll pick up the boys after school." Nathan said.
"And then drop them off at my sister's house because i have a show and they will spend the night. It doesn't end until late. You pick them up after school tommorow."
"We'll discuss them joining activities later. See you then." Haley said. Turning from him. As she picked up her buzzing cellphone. And put it to her ear.
"I can't do dinner but i can do lunch if you're free.?" Haley asked. With a bright smile. Clutching her phone.
As Nathan left the home. Feeling his stomach turn. Rumor around town was that Haley was officially seeing someone. Getting that confirmation for himself hit hard. She was really moving on and he could only stand by and watch.
