Soooo I'm up with another update kinda soon lol, idk I just really like expressing my thoughts through writing and all lol. I hope y'all enjoy this chapter!
We appeared at the fireplace of the Empire State Building. I had no idea that the Empire State Building had a chimney since we appeared at its fireplace. Luckily, that fireplace was secluded from public view, so no one saw us. We got out of that area and checked into a hotel to stay the night so that we could search for Camp Half-Blood in the morning.
Lily and I stayed up to talk a little bit to piece things together.
"Wow, to think all this happened on my first two days of Hogwarts. I'm completely revealed to the world of magic, I'm told by the Sorting Hat of my Greek deity parentage, I get to all of my classes, and I find out that I can fly. It's been a crazy day today." I told her
"Yeah, it really has. You really scared me when you fell off your broom today. I thought I'd gotten another one of my friends killed." She said back
"Wait what? You killed one of your friends?!" I asked surprised.
Then she burst out laughing, "Nah, don't worry, you're the only one that's happened to."
"Wow, so that makes me pretty special."
"Now, don't get too cocky and almost kill yourself again."
"I'll just stick to the belief that I'm a special friend, I like being your special friend." I said
"Me too. I love being around you. You give me this feeling of comfort and trust, that I can even trust you with my life." She told me.
"I'm glad I can help you feel the way you make me feel. You give me a sense of belonging, you helped me get through quite a few hard times on my first few days. You knew and comforted me when I felt like I was going to have a hard time by sleeping next to me, giving me that whole sense of belonging while getting used to Hogwarts and magic." I told her, "And no it's not because I idolize your father who happens to be the world's most famous magician, wizarding world at that. I really care about you, especially since you were my first friend in the wizarding world, you gave me a chance when I didn't know anything."
"Well, we should probably get to sleep right now since we'll be spending all day tomorrow looking for my Camp Half-Blood. My mom will get upset if she sees us sleeping next to each other again, so you could always take the other bed while I take the couch." I said
"Okay, thank you Jorge. Goodnight" She responded
"Goodnight."
Happily, and luckily, I had no dreams or nightmares that night.
We all woke up in the morning and got ready for the day of searching for Camp Half-Blood. One of the best parts of the hotel was its continental breakfast buffet. I ate as much as I could for breakfast to get enough energy to search for this Camp Half-Blood.
For some reason, I had this intuition that we started our search at Long Island. I felt that was the right place to look. I suggested to my mom that we use Floo Powder to get there, but she insisted that Camp Half-Blood didn't allow mere humans into the camp, and if we tried the powder, we don't want to find out what will happen.
I led the search for a sign of the camp. I passed by a magnificent tree and thought nothing of it. Soon, I found both my mother and Lily behind the tree as well.
"Jorge" my mom called, "I think this must be the camp boundaries. I think you are already inside Camp Half-Blood now."
"Oh, okay. I guess this is where we say goodbye again, mom." I went back out of the tree's boundaries and hugged my mom. "Thank you, mom, for letting me know about my parentage. I may be the son of this Greek deity, but I promise you I'll still always be your son, I'll be here for you no matter what. I love you mom."
"I love you too sweetie, I won't be able to see you as much anymore, but I'll still be here at home, and whenever you want to pass by home and visit me, you're always welcome."
Then I went and hugged Lily. "I know we just became the amazing friends we are, and remember, no matter what happens, I will always care for you."
She hugged me back, "I never had a doubt Jorgy."
"Jorgy?" I asked
"Yeah, that's what I'll be calling you know. You know about Floo Powder and can use it any time you want to come visit Hogwarts or my house. My parents would love to formally meet you, and I can take you there whenever you want." She responded.
"Okay, LLP, wait no that doesn't sound too right. Okay, Lils. That sounds better. I 'll see you soon then, Lils."
Then I went deeper into the woods.
I continued walking in the woods for who knows how long, until I was attacked by something I didn't know. We hadn't gone over any monsters in defense against the dark arts yet, so I had no idea what attacked me, so I just started sprinting.
I sprinted for about 5 more minutes until I finally saw signs of a camp. There were houses (more like cabins actually) built in a Ω and a volleyball court, and all that. The guy from my dream (the one with the bronze sword), Percy approached me and asked, "How did you find us?"
I told him how I found out that I can fly leaving the part about Hogwarts out. I just felt that I should leave the part about magic out.
"Hmm. That's interesting." Percy responded "But considering you got through the borders, you're a half blood! Welcome to Camp Half-Blood! Also, as a note, half blood means half god. Not half wizard or half culture."
"Half wizard? As in wizards are real?" I asked, wondering if I really should bring it up.
"Yeah of course! They're the spawn of the goddess of magic Hecate! They do cool tricks. Once, I got one of them to prank my girlfriend and cast a spell on her, thinking someone was plotting something against her. Not a good idea to do that with the daughter of a goddess of intelligence. She set up major defenses and traps around the cabin to make sure no one would get any information out of her. Anyways, have you shown any signs of your parentage? I'm sure that's most probably the reason why you're here."
"actually yeah" I replied, " I kinda fell from 5 stories high and just before hitting the ground and dying, I found myself levitating."
"Wow, I actually used to have a best friend that could fly at will. If what I'm thinking is right, he would've been your half-brother." Percy pondered
"Used to? You're talking as if he's gone." I noted
"Yeah, he died not too long ago trying to save his girlfriend and help a god, who turned into a human as a punishment, finish his mission and get back his godhood."
"Wow, that sounds intense, I'm sorry you lost your best friend like that."
"Nah, man, that's what happens when you're a half-blood. You say goodbye to your friends—even best friends—too soon. I wish I could've done more of that. Anyways, nice to meet you! I am Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon!"
"Nice to meet you Percy, I'm Jorge Lawson, I don't know who my godly parent is yet, and I've actually had a dream of you, you were fighting Kronos, whom my best friend called the titan of time." I said.
"Ohh those dreams. Yeah, your dream actually did happen." He explained, "That was the Second Titan War, which actually took place here in Manhattan, I fought against the titan of time, who was still in his human host. We saved all of New York, though normal mortals would never be able to find an explanation."
"Ohhh that makes sense."
"Yeah, you'll learn a lot more about the Mist—it's kinda what throws mortals off their bearings from the mythical side of their reality. Though there are few mortals that can see through the Mist and manipulate it to their own advantage with their wands and spells and their dementors—but you don't have to worry about that for now. Anyways, dinner is right now, so let's get to eating!"
The dining hall at camp was much simpler than the Great Hall at Hogwarts. However, there were only a few campers eating. I questioned Percy about this.
"Oh, Camp Half-Blood is mainly a camp for the summer, though some campers stay year-round."
"Oh," I answered, "I actually have important school stuff to do, so once I'm claimed can I go back to school?"
"Yeah no problem, just let Chiron know. You'll know him when you see him. After dinner, we gather around the campfire to hangout, and now that we have a new demigod, for introductions."
Gather around the campfire… sounds like that song from SpongeBob. I thought.
He was right about everything. I knew who Chiron was when he first came into the diner, and was in a wheelchair, having a blanket covering his legs. I sensed that there was much more to him than he let on. Anyways, I approached him.
"Hello, Chiron, I am Jorge Lawson, a new demigod, though I haven't been claimed yet. I hear Camp Half-Blood is mostly a summer camp?" I introduced. Upon seeing me, Chiron looked shocked.
"Jorge, I sense there is more to you than you let on. Follow me to the Big House." We then went into this cabin that really followed its name; it was a Big house. We entered this room and he began talking.
"Jorge, you come from a wizarding school, don't you?" He asked. I felt that since he was the camp director, I could trust him with this stuff.
"Yeah, I was actually in Hogwarts when I found out that I could fly actually." I responded.
"By Zeus, we've already had so many crises come one after another, when will it stop." He complained. "First the Giant War, then Apollo's mission, and now again?"
I had a sense that this was the contact Headmistress McGonagall talked about. "By any chance have you talked with an elderly magical woman by the name of Minerva McGonagall?" I asked
"Yes, I have. Rachel Dare, our Oracle, had a prophecy about a coming crisis about how the demigod world and magicians would clash, similar to what we thought about the Greek and Roman demigods would happen, and somehow she appeared next to me one day. We were both confused about what happened, so we talked about it. I need you to keep your wizarding powers a secret. Come now, let's go to the campfire to see which god will claim you." He beckoned me to follow him.
As we walked to the campfire, we talked more about what Camp Half-Blood offers. I then asked him if I could return to my schooling the next day and he allowed me to. We arrived at the campfire to see the demigods that stayed year-round.
We arrived and Chiron introduced me to all the campers present. Right after my introduction, the air smelled like ozone, the scent right before a thunderstorm. "Smells familiar, everyone get down!" Percy cried
Being the one that is kind of slow at following orders, I stayed standing bewildered. That was when the lightning struck me, and I thought I was going to die again.
However, the lightning did absolutely nothing to me, just left me with this lightning symbol hovering above my head, following wherever I went.
"What a way to be claimed," Chiron announced. "let me formally introduce everyone to Jorge Lawson, the son of Zeus."
Yeah I feel like this chapter was kind of rushed. Like I said in my foreword, I have a lot of thoughts coming into my head, and I have a knack for bad memory. Anyways, as usual, I ask you to please leave a review, and I hope y'all are enjoying my story so far!
