Dollface stood at the head of the class, dusty pink silk dress on the stand.
Well, it would've.
Except the stand was too big.
Stupid one size fits all products!
Who even came up with that bullshit? Who does it even fit? Definitely not Dollface!
Dollface opted to hold up the antique silk.
"Hi, uh," Dollface lowered the dress, "This is an old, uh, fam'lee heirloom from my uh, great gramma."
The class of girls stared.
Well shit, maybe she was the one needing some coaching on stage presence.
"I, um," Dollface stammered.
Bright lights.
And dozens of eyes hiding behind them.
Circuses.
No, wait.
No, wait.
No, no, no...
Tina smiled at her, cutting through the black thoughts.
A thumbs up.
"I decided t'keep ths real simple. After cutting off the unsalvageable black ribbons, I replaced them with newer ones an' raised the hemline to around my knees. Th'corseted top was pretty sturdy, an' since I take after that particular relative, I kept it mainly intact, adding or replacin' extra lace." Dollface splatted out, hoping she'd get it over with, "An' that's about it."
Dollface bowed, dress draped over her shoulder. She stepped away and prayed that it would be over.
Claudine was up next.
