This is basically just an author's note, but I decided to skip the italics this time.
So basically, my situation with this story is that it isn't canceled or on "hiatus" - which is the same damn thing but with less honesty about it - but it also isn't progressing at all. The problem is that my initial idea, outside of the first chapter which was written with no actual story intended to follow, has basically farted itself to death in the face of the whole 'The Batman Who Laughs' thing.
I wasn't going to have an evil version of Batman or anything, but the whole deal with the negative universes and a dark being who goes between them was going to be the end goal, and now that just seems like a stupid idea now that I've seen it executed already. Not saying if I liked "Dark Knight Metal", or even if I thought it was written well or not, that's not the point; I'm just saying that my own little story can't go down that route anymore.
So, I'm effectively without direction. I'll need to come up with a completely different plot, probably rewrite the chapters already out, and do the best that I can. Now I grant you, I wasn't exactly Frank Miller over here, nor was I even consistently updating like I thought I would be, but I believe I at least had a good foundation to start on. There was passion for this, enough so that I veered away from making it follow the initial draft (which, ho boy, let me tell you, was DOG. SHIT.) and I actually put in research to try and make the world feel both more alive and interconnected. Silly little touches like naming the streets after Batman actors and making a cringe-worthy stab at writing my own riddles.
All of that is the kind of dedication and work I want to always put into this story, into our story. Hokey as it always sounds, I do owe a great deal to all of you who've read this story and I promise to never again be the arrogant little shit-trolley who asked for reviews as tribute for more chapters. That is a bad thing to do and I should feel bad. If an author tries to ransom chapters to you, they aren't worth following.
Ramblings aside, and to sum this whole thing up, I'm not quitting "B 'n' H", not by a long shot, but it could take awhile before I continue the story of Batman and Quinn as I hammer out a new path to take. Thank you all for your patience, I'll see you in the streets of Gotham.
