Taina was roughly woken up by Drew. He dragged Taina to her feet and forced her out of the room. They quickly made their way to his car. Sapphire was already in the passenger seat waiting for them. Once in the car, Drew buckled her seatbelt and removed the gag. Sapphire let out a sigh as Drew got in the car and they drove away. It was dark outside and the clock in the car read 2:05 AM.
"Do you have the address?" Drew asked.
"Yeah. It's just one of their regular hideouts. I know the way." Sapphire responded.
"Where are you taking me?" Taina spoke up from the backseat. Her hands were cuffed behind her back. She wasn't too sure what her next move should be.
"To Joker and Harley," Drew answered. Taina's heart dropped. She had to get out of the car but with her hands restrained, that was going to be hard. Her only choice was to jump out of the car.
'Shit! I need to get out of here ASAP. I should wait until they stop at a light…' Taina thought as she tried to pay attention to her surroundings. Nothing around her looked familiar. Suddenly a police car pulled up behind them with their lights flashing.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Sapphire yelled.
"I'm getting pulled over? For what? I've been driving as carefully as possible so this wouldn't happen." Drew said as he slammed his hand against the steering wheel.
"Just keep driving," Sapphire instructed.
"You serious?"
"We don't have a choice. If they see her back there with handcuffs on, it's all over."
"Shit!"
"Or.. or… Taina, here's the key to the handcuffs. Take them off. You will say nothing to the cop. If you do, we'll tell Joker. Who knows what he'll do when he finds out? I mean he's already upset that you ran away from him. You don't want to make it worse." Sapphire threw the key in Taina's lap. Taina opened her mouth to protest but quickly shut it. This could be the opening she was looking for. Quickly removing the handcuffs, Taina discreetly unlocked the car door. Drew pulled over. After a few more threats from Drew and Sapphire a middle-aged police officer, walked up to Drew's window. Drew rolled down his window.
"Hello, Officer." Drew greeted.
"Do you know why I pulled you over?" The cop said. He had greying dark brown hair and slight stubble.
"No, sir."
"This car has been reported as stolen." Sapphire and Drew exchanged a look.
"There must be a mistake. I rented this car."
"So you admit it's not yours?"
"Yeah… I rented it at the airport. You can call them and verify."
"I'm going to need to see your license." The cop's radio went off. "I'll be back but I need to see your license." The cop quickly returned to his car.
"What do we do?" Drew said as he ran his hands through his hair.
"Let's go. We don't have time for this. Hopefully, we'll lose him and if not… Joker will take care of him." Sapphire responded. Nodding his head, Drew began to drive off. Taina tried to open the car door but it wouldn't budge. Smirking, Sapphire turned in her seat,
"Child lock, Sweetie." Taina turned to see the cop behind them.
"There is no way this car was reported as stolen," Drew stated.
"You're right. He most likely just said that to have a reason to pull us over. Either he's trying to meet his quota or they know about Taina."
"Fuck! You're right. I bet he was trying to stall us while he called for backup or something. We have to get her to Joker fast." Drew sped down the streets of Gotham. Several police cars chased after them. After a particularly sharp turn, Taina was thrown to the other side of the car. She put her seatbelt on and braced herself. Without warning, Drew crashed the car into a building. Glass rained down on them. Drew was instantly knocked out while Sapphire was hanging out of the windshield. Miraculously, she was still alive and conscious. She pulled herself out of the wreckage of the car as cops surrounded them. Drew was pulled out of the car by police officers. Taina was stuck in the backseat. Her seatbelt had gotten crushed so she was unable to remove it and the door closest to her was crushed as well.
"There's someone else in the car!" An officer shouted. "Don't worry we'll get you out of there." Taina nodded her head as she tried not to panic. Her head was throbbing and she coughed up blood. Sirens could be heard and flashing lights filled her vision. Despite not moving, Taina felt dizzy. The world spun. Smoke began to fill up the car.
"We need to get her out of there! The car is starting to smoke." A voice said.
"We need to be careful. If we're not, the car could explode with her in it." Another voice said.
"Shit! It's going to catch on fire." Taina tried to remove the seatbelt. It refused to move and she began to panic. Tears poured out of her eyes. Smoke filled her lungs and she coughed desperately trying to breathe. The last thing she heard was someone calling out her name before she passed out.
AN: I live in the US. All of my classes (I'm in college) are online. I'm also not working as much. This is due to the Coronavirus going around. I have more free time and will hopefully be able to update more. Enjoy and leave a review!
