Part 7

Bella paced at the bookshop door hours before Abigail arrived. She wondered if it were possibly true that Edward and Leah were Anthony and Moonflower reborn. She had to keep them from discovering Abigail's story – in her mind it was a filthy lie.

"You're here early" Abigail said as she prattled with her stick up the stairs. Bella had to fight the urge to throw the woman over her shoulder and bring her to the door.

"Make me some tea young one" She commanded as she unlocked the door.

"You're tiring me out with your need to know nature" she laughed.

"Chamomile, how did you know?" Abigail asked as she sipped on her tea.

Well I smell in on your God forsaken breath every morning Bella thought darkly.

"Just a guess Mrs. Young now tell me more"

Anthony seethed as he shoved Moonflower behind him glaring at Katherine and her mob.

"Darlin' I'm so glad you're safe" She drawled as she moved to fling herself against him.

Anthony side stepped and pulled Moonflower into a tight embrace, he handed her a knife and whispered for her to put it to his throat so that the mob and Katherine would relent, and they could escape.

Moonflower grabbed a handful of Anthony's hair and bent his neck backwards over her shoulder as she placed the blade to his throat.

"Don't come any closer or he dies" She hissed as she ran the blade against the surface of his skin causing a trickle of blood to flow - Anthony hissed in pain as blood ran down his neck.

"Stop it you heathen whore!" Katherine shrieked as tears clouded her eyes.

"Let me go with my prisoner. You can have him once you bring us Arthur Wiggins. Now take 10 paces back and turn around with your back facing us or your fiancé here dies" Moonflower said tugging harder on Anthony's hair.

By the time Katherine and her gang turned around Anthony and Moonflower were gone.

"I see them" One hunter riled as he aimed his shotgun at Moonflower's retreating figure.

Anthony heard the click of the trigger and shadowed Moonflower. The bullet went straight through his shoulder. Moonflower cried in horror, but Anthony told her to keep going. Moonflower lead Anthony down jagged rocks past the river, and too far from civilization for anyone not to assume they were dead. They ran for what felt like hours before Anthony collapsed drained and suffering from blood loss.

"Anthony" Moonflower cried as she cupped his face. She could hear the animals of the night prowl and circle; they had surely caught scent of Anthony's blood 2 lost humans made for easy prey. Moonflower tried waking him up a few more times before she started dragging him. She needed to find shelter from the animals as well as medical help. She moved only 5 feet before she cried out in pain as sharp little daggers gripped her left foot. She looked down to find she had stepped on a bear trap. It took all her strength, but she managed to free herself before collapsing next to Anthony and crying over his half dead body. She looked up at the moon and prayed for their safety, she felt something purr in the darkness as a pair of yellow feral eyes moved towards them…
