Dollface had woken up in a pool of blood and immediately pushed out of the room by a groggy Anit, backpack tossed angrily on the way out.
Oh well, at least she could change clothes.
Dollface changed into a shiney net shirt and jeans, boots tossed when she knocked on the door.
She decided not to stay for breakfast.
Especially since she got a pair of steel-toes in the face.
Dollface idley thought of getting a spiral perm like her sister. Maybe she'd look like Cyndi Lauper if she did!
Dollface dropped her sludge green bag on the floor and shouldered her heavy leather bomber on, not fully aware of the girls watching her back.
Alarms had been deactivated for the weekends, but many girls were used to the early start, and stragglers were always expected.
And out the door Dollface went.
She probably should've wondered why it was that easy but she decided not to think of that. Dollface was almost an adult. She could handle herself.
Dollface walked down the sidewalk, air cold and crisp.
So California did have a winter!
Wonderful!
Y'know, she could leave.
All her stuff was hurriedly packed on her back.
She could walk home, or atleast to the nearest train station.
Buy a cheap ticket to St. Louis, probably call her Grandparents from a phone booth once there.
Dollface was grounded by only her swinging earrings now.
She usually wore lighter studs, but this shirt demanded something more dramatic. So she slid her favorite earrings into her lobes, a pair of star-studded Saturns holding onto blue enamel studs, right under her new star-shaped piercers.
They no longer stang.
Dollface walked through the campuses, not really seeing the wrought iron fences or brick pavement.
"Dontcha know that the kids aren't all, kids aren't alright…" She started hum-talking to herself, random smatterings of words not yet assigned a melody, "All those people in those old photographs I've seen are dead…"
Dollface could recognize the words, hum the melody, but where she'd heard it, no one could know.
"Twists my head just a lil too thin…" She said to herself, "I think you're my best friend..."
She sighed, sad but content.
Dollface paused her walk, realizing how long her hike to the dorms would be.
She missed her bike.
Oh well, she needed the walk.
Dollface suddenly couldn't get the thought of just walking to a train station out of her head.
It could be so easy.
She even had her wallet in its usual place, the left pocket of her leather bomber.
Hell, she could probably leave for most of the day and no one would notice.
Not even Regina.
Hah! Regina!
She wouldn't even notice.
She let "Heaven's a Place on Earth" flow through her subconscious and wrap around her brain, previous song completely forgotten like an old fever dream, never wanting to look back at the dorms.
Dollface really thought about it.
Like, really thought about it as she walked forward, never stopping.
Maybe she shouldn't hang around those girls.
Mostly because Anit sucked.
But she really wasn't welcome.
Why bother?
Dollface checked her watch.
Considering where she was in the city, she might not be home until noon.
Should she get breakfast?
Again, she had the money.
Nah, not really hungry.
Stomach hurt too much.
Blood nausea.
Krap.
"Woah woah woah, hey!"
Dollface found herself thrown back into reality by strong hands as she walked right into a jogger the same height as her.
"What are you doin' out here?"
"Diaz?" Dollface awoke from her thoughts, "What're ya don' here?"
