Chloe was currently on the phone with Dan. She had let him know that she was planning to take Trixie out of town for a few days on a mini vacation. He had actually been very supportive about it. He told her it was a good idea for her to get away for a little while. Chloe wasn't surprised. She knew he thought she was losing it a bit after Lucifer had to leave. She was almost grateful for that now. He wasn't asking a lot of questions. "Thanks, Dan. I'll have Trixie call you soon."

Lucifer walked into the room just as Chloe was getting off the phone. "I take it things went smoothly."

"Yeah. Dan didn't have a problem with me taking Trixie out of town. Now I just have to get the okay from the precinct. It shouldn't be that difficult. The poisoning wasn't that long ago. I could just say that the trauma of it suddenly hit me and I need some time to get past it," Chloe said. Lucifer wanted to take her and Trixie to one of his properties outside of the city, where Charlotte and Michael hopefully wouldn't be able to find them.

"Excellent. When the child returns from school, we can go," Lucifer said.

"I'm still not sure this is a good idea. I feel like it would be best to just pretend like everything's normal. Your mom doesn't know you're here yet," Chloe said.

Lucifer shook his head. "By now, she probably knows I've had the gates of Heaven locked. It is almost certain that Michael has tried to return and was unable to, which means they know we're on to them. I won't risk your lives," Lucifer said firmly.

"It still feels like this is futile, especially if your mom finds those sword pieces before you do," Chloe said.

"I'm not going to let anyone hurt you. Like I said, I will remove you both from this realm if I must," Lucifer said. It was, unfortunately, likely that it would come to that. He was trying to prevent war, but it seemed unlikely that he'd be able to.

"What happens to the world if your mother gets those pieces," Chloe asked before taking a seat on the couch.

Lucifer sat down next to her. "Are you sure you want me to answer that?"

"Honestly, not really, but it seems like something that is at least fifty percent likely. I should be prepared for what might happen."

Lucifer nodded. "Very well, Detective. I don't think I need to tell you that war is brutal. Countries have been left in tatters because of human battles. A celestial war would be infinitely worse. Myself and all my siblings would have to choose a side. Most of us will side with Father. There would be numerous fatalities. Now, how much it would affect Earth would depend on where such a war took place. If on Earth, humanity would suffer greatly, possibly to the point of extinction. If Mother wins, it will be a moot point because she would likely destroy any humans still alive."

Chloe took a deep breath. That was frightening to say the least, but she'd asked for the truth. She still couldn't help but feel like this was her fault, even though Lucifer told it would've likely happened without her involvement with Charlotte. She never imagined the kind of damage that Lucifer was talking about when she agreed to this. "Okay, I know your brother said that your father coming here would result in casualties, but maybe he should anyway given these odds. Didn't you say your mother was weak anyway?"

"Yes, she's weak, but I'm not entirely sure how weak. I don't know exactly how much her physical strength is inhibited. She's weak for a Goddess, but she could still probably kill humans and maybe even hold her own against me or my siblings. By herself, she couldn't beat my father, not as she is now and not at full strength, but fighting with my father might create many human casualties. Not to mention that even unassembled, the blade she has is very dangerous. It obliterates souls. My brother, Uriel, planned to use it on my mother. I'm not sure how it would work on my father, but the point is, my mother is more dangerous with it in her possession. I have very little use for my father, but at the moment, I believe he's right not to involve himself," Lucifer told her.

Chloe nodded. After hearing his explanation, she decided that he was probably right. She certainly didn't want anyone getting hurt if it could be avoided. Lucifer was good at this. He knew what he was doing. It was a little surprising because she was used to him much different when they were working cases. He wasn't so level headed, nor did he typically take charge like she had watched him do earlier.

Lucifer noticed the detective staring at him. "Everything alright?"

"Yeah, it's just that seeing you like this is strange. When we work together, you usually follow my lead. Well, when you're not going off without thinking and confronting suspects," Chloe said.

"Yes, of course, I follow you. It is your area of expertise. Punishing live humans is your forte," Lucifer said.

"And this is yours," Chloe said. Of course, that was the case. He was one of the oldest beings in the world. He'd likely seen and dealt in many wars in his time. He knew what he was doing in that regard and knew he needed to lead in it.

Just then, they heard the door open and close. Trixie appeared in the room seconds later. He face lit up when she saw Lucifer. "Lucifer!"

Lucifer barely had time to stand up before the child had attached herself to his person. He stood there helplessly as she hugged him. "Yes, lovely to see you as well, Urchin."

Chloe sat and grinned as her partner stood nervously as her daughter hugged him. It was frankly hilarious now that she knew who he really was. The Devil didn't know what to do with himself when an eight-year-old hugged him. He could handle wars, but not a child.

Trixie let go after a few seconds. "I'm glad you're back. Mommy said you had to leave."

"Yes, my father insisted, unfortunately," Lucifer said.

"Why?" Trixie asked.

"Because he's a control freak," Lucifer retorted.

"Trixie, go to your room and pack some clothes and your favorite toys. Lucifer's going to be taking us on a little vacation," Chloe said.

"Cool!" Trixie said before running off to her room.

Linda didn't know what to say or think. Amenadiel had barged into her office and started ranting about Lucifer and their father. He'd told her that there was a situation regarding his mother that Lucifer had returned to stop. He'd also told her that Lucifer was there as their father's second in command. That was the part Amenadiel was focused on right now. Linda, however, was more concerned with the fact that the God and Goddess were about to go to war.

Amenadiel was pacing Linda's office angrily. He'd been really hurt and angry when he found out Lucifer had been given his job. It wasn't right. He was God's second and command. It was a title that belonged to him as the eldest son. His father had just given it to Lucifer like he didn't matter anymore. "It isn't right! After everything Lucifer has done, Father just hands him my title."

"So, we're talking serious war if this escalates, correct?" Linda asked. Again, she was more interesting in the implications of a fight between the two most powerful beings in existence.

"Yes. I should be in charge of this situation. I could handle it much better. But because Lucifer is Father's favorite, he has my job," Amenadiel said bitterly.

"I'm just guessing that war between your parents would be bad for the rest of us," Linda said.

Amenadiel turned to look at her. "Linda, I think you're missing the point."

"Oh, really? I should be more focused on your jealousy than the possible destruction of the planet and humanity?" Linda asked him in disbelief.

"Don't be ridiculous. My father would never allow that," Amenadiel said before sitting down. "Of course, if Lucifer would've listened, it wouldn't be an issue."

"Listened to what?"

"I told him it was best to leave things be. My mother doesn't have the other pieces to the Flaming Sword. She doesn't know where they are, but if Lucifer and Gabriel go searching, she could find them through them or take the pieces off of them when they find them. It's best to just not act right now," Amenadiel explained.

"Your idea to stop your mother from declaring war on God is to do nothing?" Linda asked slowly as if she couldn't have heard him correctly.

"Yes. It's the best option right now, but I was ignored and overruled because my father thought it was a good idea to put the most childish of us all in charge," Amenadiel complained.

"Oh, I wouldn't say he's the most childish," Linda said. In the past, she might have agreed that Lucifer was the most childish, but she was getting a new perspective with the way Amenadiel was acting.

"What do you mean?" he asked

"You are in my office right now complaining because you think your father likes your little brother more when there is a potential war brewing," Linda said directly. As a therapist, Linda wouldn't normally be so blunt, but Amenadiel wasn't her patient, and there was a more serious situation going on.

"I'm not being childish. I'm stating facts. My father has always favored Lucifer. That is clearly still true since he's given him…

"Okay, stop for a minute," Linda interrupted. "Even if your father does favor Lucifer, it's irrelevant, and likely has nothing to do with him being given your job. You're not in Heaven right now, Amenadiel. You couldn't do the job. It stands to reason that someone still needed to, right?"

"Yes, but it didn't have to be Lucifer. It shouldn't be him!" Amenadiel snapped.

"Because you think your father only gave it to him because he's his favorite. Look, I can't pretend to know how things work in Heaven, but here people are given jobs based on their qualification," Linda said.

Amenadiel frowned, not understanding what she was getting at. "So?"

"So what was Lucifer's responsibility before he came to Earth?" Linda asked.

"Hell. It was his punishment for disobeying and rebelling against our father," Amenadiel said with just as much confusion in his voice.

"Right. He was in charge of all of Hell. He ran the entire realm. It stands to reason then that he is entirely qualified to be your father's general. Did you consider that your father put him in charge because he had the most experience in that type of role?" Linda asked.

Amenadiel blinked a few times as he thought about it. He actually hadn't thought about it, but he still didn't believe his brother should have his job. "Running Hell is hardly the same as Heaven, and Lucifer is proving that he's not qualified.

"Because he's not doing the same thing you would? I'll tell you what he's probably doing that you're not. He's trying to work out a way to fix the problem. You're sitting in my office having a childish tantrum because you didn't get your way," Linda said.

Amenadiel stared at her in disbelief for a few moments before getting up and walking out of the room.
