Author's Note: It's taken too long. I've been busy with other things. Anyways, there were so many issues with Season 3, we all know what I'm talking about, but most of all the ALIE storyline was bonkers. They could of played with Lexa so much in that storyline but instead, they did that. I'm not over it. I'll never be over it. With that said, if you haven't figured it out, we're going down that path. This chapter runs off of the end of the last chapter, and throughout you periodically learn new information.
Please let me know what you think. Happy Reading.
Chapter 35
About an hour later, Anya walked into the medbay to check on everyone affected but mostly she wanted to know if anyone was conscious so that she could find out what exactly happened. The device had been at Polis for some time now with no complications, while it was in The Horizon for a short time and this happened. Why?
Lexa stood next to Clarke's gurney, as a warrior splinted two of her fingers together for them to heal better. Well more like attempted to as he was working in a tough environment with Lexa seeming to care more about Clarke than her own well-being.
Anya walked over to Lexa, "How are you feeling?"
Lexa looked at her confused, she could see Anya's mouth moving but couldn't hear anything. "What?" She asked loudly as her hearing was still not great.
The warrior looked from his work to Anya briefly, "She's got some hearing loss, speak up."
"How are you feeling?" Anya asked louder.
Lexa nodded, "I would be better if this warrior would hurry up. How is everyone else? Clarke? Raven? Yuki?"
"They are all still unconscious." She pointed to the other gurney's in the room where the others lay.
Raven looked the least injured, as she just had a bandage around her head, Abby was sitting on the other side of Clarke's bed, Clarke had a cloth over the side of her face from the large gash and Yuki was laying with his right arm in a sling, all of them still unconscious.
"Lexa, I need you to tell me what happened?" Anya asked again, as she needed to know what level of danger they were in.
Lexa didn't know how to answer the question because the fact was she didn't know what had happened. One moment they were all talking amongst themselves and the next they were running out of the lab.
"Yuki was talking to me trying to figure out the poison, while keeping tabs on the object in the room with Raven." Lexa answered the question.
….
"So you get bouts of anger all the time or only some of the time?" Yuki asked Lexa trying to figure out exactly what the problem could be. As well as what he was missing.
"Only some of the time, and when it happens it is as though I block out the memory of the argument," Lexa added to the conversation about the incidents.
Yuki stopped for a moment and picked up a notepad to write down some notes. "You block the memory?" He questioned more so to himself as he was trying to figure out why that would be the case. "Clarke, what did your people say?"
"Jaha came by the camp and was distributing some sort of a chip to people, which would change their entire behaviour once they took it. My mom had said that people acted as though they may not be in control of their own actions," Clarke tried to explain from what her mom had told them prior to them leaving with her.
"Wait, what?" Yuki stopped looking at the device in the room at the mention of people not controlling their actions. "Did you say people weren't in control?"
Clarke nodded, "Yes, it was like they were there but they weren't acting as themselves."
"Lexa, did you swallow anything unknown lately?" He asked wanting to see if the two situations might be connected.
Lexa shook her head, "No."
"Hmm…" Yuki stopped stuck now trying to figure out what the connection was. "Raven, has this device given you any indication of what it might be?"
"The only thing that made sense was if it was some sort of a beacon maybe… See it has this blinking light on it, so it seems active but I haven't been able to figure out what exactly it's purpose is," Raven tried to explain but even with how much time she'd spent with the device she was nowhere closer to figuring out what it was. Let alone what it could be used for.
"Two mysteries that we have to solve," Yuki sighed in annoyance. "So you get angry and forget the entire incident, and this device doesn't appear to be a weapon." He stated their current problems.
"Yup, that sums it up." Raven agreed with everything he said.
….
"Lexa, are you able to walk, Riku had a theory about your bouts of anger," Anya asked wanting to see if Riku could figure out at least one of their mysteries. She turned to one of the warriors in the room, "You inform me the second someone else wakes up, understood."
They gave a swift nod.
Lexa gave a weak smile to Abby, before leaning forward and placing a brief kiss to Clarke's forehead, "Please come back to me," She whispered for Clarke's ears only, but Abby heard it. "Please find me when she wakes up," She pleaded to Abby wanting so much to stay here but she knew that she couldn't. She was the only one awake and needed to help where she could. Reluctantly, she squeezed Clarke's left hand one more time before she followed Anya out of the room.
"Your ankle seems fine," Anya pointed out that she was walking fine.
Lexa looked over at her confused, "Yes… Why would it not be fine?"
"They thought you might have injured your ankle, I guess they were wrong about that." Anya concluded. "Oh, and you seem to have your hearing back."
Lexa nodded, "You seem to be correct. Have you been able to determine what happened?"
Anya shook her head, "No, all we can tell is that the explosion originated from the device. That is why I need one of you to tell me what happened."
"If anyone would know more, it would be Yuki," Lexa admitted as they walked down the hallway.
"Why do you say that?" Anya asked as they rounded a corner.
"Yuki was the one that told us to get out of the lab," Lexa answered without question.
…..
"What are we missing!" Raven slammed down the stack of papers she was reading that came from the scanner.
"Maybe you should take a break Raven," Clarke suggested. "I understand that you want to figure out what this thing is but you have also been awake for a very long time. Maybe take a break, go take a nap to clear your mind and then come back."
"Yeah Clarke is right, go take a nap. I'll continue working and if I find something I'll come and get you," Yuki suggested seeing the clear signs of exhaustion on Raven's face.
Raven nodded, "You guys are right, I'll go take a break but if you find anything, you have to come get me."
Yuki nodded, "You got it."
"Okay," Raven agreed and turned walking out of the lab.
Yuki turned back to the device, his eyes catching onto something as they squinted in confusion.
"Yuki, so if you are right about the chips being connected somehow, shouldn't I feel less like myself?" Lexa asked wondering how everything was connected. "As Clarke mentioned, those that had taken the chips, did not act as themselves, why am I different."
Yuki seemed very distracted but answered, "You must have some sort of… I don't know… immunity, maybe-" He trailed off before he quickly shouted, "We have to get out of here now!" He practically pushed them toward the doorway.
They all ran toward the door, Yuki got out and immediately pressed the button trying to close the blast door. However, there was an explosion.
Lexa tried to grab onto Clarke to bring her onto her side past the door, but the most she could do was shove her into the wall in hopes that the door didn't hit either of them.
The blast launched Lexa into the wall just to the left of the lab, something hard connected with her fingers just as she impacted with the wall, at which point she lost consciousness.
…..
"So Yuki figured out something and told all of you to leave before it went off?" Anya asked. "How did he know to get all of you to leave?"
Lexa shrugged, "That would be a question for Yu…" Her voice trailed off as they rounded the corner that faced the now black lab. Her voice lost all ability to speak as they moved closer to the lab. There was black soot everywhere in the lab.
"See, if any of you would have been in that room none of you would be here now. That is why it is imperative that I learn how Yuki knew to get all of you out," Anya explained as she directed Lexa away from the lab toward the command center.
XXXXXX
They entered the command room some time later, as they had walked the rest of the way in complete silence.
"Lexa, you're okay. How do you feel? How's Clarke?" Riku walked over to the commander.
"I feel okay, Clarke is in the medbay," Lexa answered not wanting to elaborate on what exactly Clarke was going through as she couldn't think about that now. "Have you figured anything out?"
"Maybe, can I ask you a personal question?" Riku asked with no context whatsoever.
Lexa looked from him to Anya who just shrugged, "Sure," she answered hesitantly.
"So I wanted to run some more comprehensive scans on you but for obvious reasons that's no longer possible, so I need to know, have you had any procedures or serious injuries that could account for why you are different from anyone else that may have taken the chip?" Riku asked with more detail in why he wanted the information, but was still vague enough to create a question. He had a theory, and he wanted to test it before he brought it to light.
Lexa looked at Riku confused, as his question was oddly specific, like he knew something without actually knowing anything about what he was asking. "How much do you know of my people?" She decided to ask the question to find out just how much he knew before confirming or denying what he was asking.
Riku looked at Lexa confused but decided to play along, "Your people, like my own, are ones that survived the nuclear war about one hundred years ago. The only difference between yours to mine, is that my ancestors had developed a serum to prevent us from being affected by nuclear radiation. From what I have been able to get ahold of over the years, your people are different because there are kids that are found with a unique blood type. Black blood. They are then trained to become a commander, like yourself. What I have never been able to learn, is why? Why specifically, are those with black blood only allowed to become commanders. Besides the blood, what makes you so special?"
"It's the flame," Lexa answered without any context. "When a commander dies, the flame is passed over to the next in line, it's called the spirit of the commander, as Clarke once said like reincarnation. The one strongest to defeat all other warriors in the conclave. The flame allows me to communicate with all of the commanders from before."
"The flame… Is it a thing? Something you can hold onto?" Riku asked, trying to understand what she was saying.
"That I do not know, as the Flame keeper is only privy to that information. Unfortunately, my flame keeper has been missing for many days. He went on a mission to locate the one that delivered the message to Skaikru about Polis requesting mine and Clarke's presence at Polis. The person being Daewon, so I am unsure where he ended up," Lexa stated clearly unsure of Titus' whereabouts.
"Hmm…" He stopped to pace for a moment rattling all of the new information around in his brain, when he stopped to look at her. "Do you have a scar on the back of your neck?" Riku asked pointing to the back of his own neck for emphasis not that he didn't think she didn't know where he meant.
"How did you know that?" Lexa questioned him curious to know how he would know such information. Her hair isn't short, so it's not something that he could have seen.
"From all the autopsies that I conducted on people that were infected, the unknown material that was left in their bodies originated at the back of their necks. This is just a theory, but what If this 'flame' as you said is at the back of your neck, what if the reason the chip isn't completely taking you over is because it's fighting with the flame? So if you think back to every moment you blacked out, what led to it?"
Lexa thought for a moment, "Besides the first conversation with Clarke, it was always about trying to figure out what was causing the problem. It was like I didn't have control of my actions and lashed out to stop it from happening."
"What was different about the first conversation? Do you remember that one?" Riku asked curious to know if that could be the thing that solves all of this.
Lexa nodded as she swallowed nervously, "I do not think I will ever forget that one. Anya was alive, and I blamed Clarke. It was like the small part of me that doubts things, came to the forefront and I lashed out at Clarke. I blamed her for everything, for the fact that Anya was still alive and I didn't know, the fact that Gustus was gone. It was like everything that I pushed down, exploded out of me."
"So let me see if I understand you. You felt like you had no control of your emotions? You felt like you weren't yourself at that moment? As though, someone else was controlling you?" Riku questioned Lexa seeing what he was hoping to learn unfold right in front of him.
"Yes…" Lexa answered simply.
"What are you thinking Riku?" Anya asked curious to understand where he was going with all of this.
"I need to talk to Yuki to get a better understanding of what he saw with the device, but based on what the commander has said, I believe we are dealing with an entirely different entity," Riku finally explained what was bouncing around in his mind. "Let me explain, Jaha left camp as one person, and came back an entirely different person bent on distributing these chips to make them feel 'better', right? Then there are our people, there was a group of explorers that went missing about a month ago, so what if they came across something, that turned them as well. However, these explorers were brilliant, they were on mine and Yuki's level so if something took control of them, why wouldn't this entity use their minds to make a new method to distribute the chips? This entity was able to convince Jaha of their ways, so he was able to distribute the chips, but with the melted down versions mixed into the arrowhead, those that are unwilling could be converted as well. Like the commander," He motioned to Lexa in front of him. "But because they aren't one of her people, they wouldn't know about the 'flame,' this equally unknown entity, so if I am correct, the reason that the commander is having conflicting thoughts is because the melted down chip is fighting with the flame."
"So unless you can figure out how to get the melted down chip out of Lexa, she's going to continue to have these struggles?" Anya asked finally understanding what Riku was thinking.
Riku nodded, "Exactly. So I am going to find Happy, and hopefully she and I can work on creating some sort of device that can be used to remove the chips from people. Lexa, would you come along, I unfortunately need a test subject, and you are the only one here?"
Lexa turned to Anya, who gave a nod. "Fine, but you better be sure before using it on me. I do not need more injuries than I already have."
"What injuries, you look fine?" Riku pointed out as they started walking away from Anya.
Anya shook her head and headed back over to the exploded lab, a few warriors were inside the lab looking for structural damage. "Do you have any kind of report for me?"
A warrior turned to Anya, "Well, all we can say for sure is that the device was the point of the blast but that was already obvious just from looking at this room. What I do find odd, however, is that if there was something in this building that changed the overall stability of the device, why didn't it explode as soon as it was brought through the front door?"
"I can- I can answer that…"
Anya turned to the door at the new voice, "Raven, what are you doing out of medical?"
"I just have a headache, they told me to go rest, but I had to see what happened to the lab," Raven answered as she held onto the wall feeling a little woozy still from the impact with the wall. "I can't believe that Yuki was able to warn everyone."
"Do you know why Yuki did that?" Anya asked hoping she'll finally get some answers.
Raven shook her head slowly, "I do not. Before the blast, Yuki convinced me to go rest, I was walking down this hallway when the explosion went off. I dropped down as the door came flying toward me, it was amazing I didn't get hurt more but I hit the ground a little hard, which knocked me out."
"Okay, so you do not know what Yuki saw to get everyone out, but you said you know why it did not go off as soon as it entered the base? How would you know that?" Anya asked wanting to have more of an understanding of what happened. If it was going to be piece by piece, then so be it.
Raven blinked a few times, adjusting to the dim lighting in the room, "Before Yuki told me to leave, in the corner of my eye I noticed, but didn't pay any attention to a red light that turned on. I chalked it up to exhaustion but now I'm wondering if maybe the two are connected."
"So you are thinking that something activated it?" Anya asked trying to understand Raven's train of thought.
Raven nodded, "Yes, that is the only thing I can think of however. Yuki was the one that told everyone to leave so he would know exactly what happened but I think that's connected."
"I'll be sure to mention it when Yuki wakes up," Anya said as she looked upon Raven. "Maybe you should rest now. I understand that you want to help, but I cannot have you passing out from exhaustion because you are determined to solve a problem that you cannot solve. Riku is with Lexa trying to find a solution to her problem, and Clarke and Yuki are still unconscious. As soon as there is an update, I will send someone to speak to you."
"Can I just say… Had I known that it was going to explode, I wouldn't have brought it here…" Raven stated feeling somewhat responsible for what happened.
"I brought it here. This is on me, but with that said, this was one of the safer places for it to go off. The only damage was in this room, because it is built to be a bunker. Had this gone off at the Skaikru camp, your people would be dead. If it went off at Polis, the same would be true. So if anything, the four of you being injured was the better of the three options," Anya said as she looked upon a broken Raven.
"But had I-"
"No, you will not blame yourself for this, do you understand me?" Anya asked wanting to ensure that Raven was not going to hold onto the blame for this.
Raven nodded slowly, "I'll try to keep that in mind. I am going to rest now though," She said as she walked out of the room back toward the room she was assigned to use.
Anya looked back to the warrior she was speaking to, "Do you have anything to add to what she said?"
He shrugged his shoulders, "It's hard to say. Even if her memory isn't playing tricks on her, it's hard to say what could have set it off. It's not like those that were in this room, were infected, or being controlled to destroy this lab. Seems to me though that Yuki will have the answers."
Anya nodded as she turned to leave thinking about everything that had been said to her. She walked into the control room first, "Any updates?"
Someone turned around to face her, "No, we do not have any updates on what could have caused the explosion, and there hasn't been any nearby chatter about it. A couple warriors have gone out to do some recon, they should be back in a few hours, at which point we should have an update."
"Keep me in the loop," Anya stated before she walked out, and headed for her own quarters. Riku and Happy were working on something to help Lexa, and Clarke and Yuki were still unconscious.
She decided to take her own advice and go have a rest. There wasn't anything that she could do, she wasn't a scientist, so she could only boss people around to find answers but even that had its limits. She laid down on her bed, staring up at the ceiling lost in thought.
XXXXXX
A couple hours passed by, before someone knocked on her door. She hadn't really gotten any sleep but even just laying on the bed with her eyes closed was enough. "Enter." She got up from the bed as the warrior entered the room.
"Commander, Clarke is awake," The warrior stated and Anya was up off the bed, breezing past him.
Anya blazed past the warrior, toward medical, as she arrived, Clarke was sitting up drinking some water.
"You're awake, what do you remember?" Anya immediately asked wanting answers.
"Excuse me, I get that you are important here but my daughter only just woke up from a traumatic injury, why don't you give her some space," Abby got up into Anya's face showing just how serious she was.
"I understand the risks here, but if she knows anything that could help explain what happened, then I need to know about it," Anya challenged Abby standing in front of her face to face, determined to get the answers she wanted.
"Mom, it's okay…" Clarke stopped their staredown weakly. Her voice barely above a whisper, as her head hurt like a bitch and anything louder made it hurt even more. "Where is Lexa? Is she okay?"
Abby walked back around the bed to Clarke's right, "Lexa is fine, I'll send someone to get her."
"Belay that order," Anya put her hand up stopping the warrior from going.
"Excuse me, if my daughter wants to see Lexa, she is going to see her," Abby stood in place but stared daggers into Anya's soul.
Anya shook her head, "Lexa is working with Riku to find a solution to a very serious problem, if she is distracted then that could stop the progress they no doubt are achieving. I will not risk this mission for love." Anya might have died, and come back to life but she was still very much all about the teachings of their people. Love is weakness, and nothing was going to stop that mentality. "If Lexa has a problem with that, then she can bring it to me."
Abby was about to walk back over to Anya, when Clarke stopped her, "Mom, don't." She looked over to Anya who was at the foot of the bed. "I don't remember anything, so I can't help you," Clarke answered the question she knew Anya was going to ask.
Anya looked to Clarke confused, "What do you mean you don't remember anything?"
"The force of the door flying past her, forced her to collide with the wall a lot harder than anyone should ever experience, and then she hit the ground. My daughter went through a traumatic experience, she may never regain those memories, or they may come back slowly. For now, she can't help you. Now, she wants to see her companion, I know you know what that means. If I have to go find her myself, I will," Abby spoke standing next to Clarke's bed, wanting so much to storm out of the room and find Lexa herself.
Anya clenched her jaw, "Fine, I will locate her myself as I need an update on their progress and I will inform her that Clarke is awake."
"You better," Abby said under her breath, annoyed that Anya was trying to stop them from being together.
Anya walked out of the room leaving the two of them together.
"What happened Mom?" Clarke asked as she lifted her right hand up to touch the bandage on her head.
"The lab you were in, the device exploded. The word is that Yuki told all of you to leave before it exploded, unfortunately, the blast door wasn't entirely shut before it went off. Lexa was the least hurt, Raven was knocked out but is resting now, and Yuki still hasn't woken up," Abby explained looking toward where Yuki was laying before looking back at Clarke.
"Do they know why it went off?" Clarke asked wondering if there were any developments yet.
Abby shook her head, "Not that I know of. Anya would know that information."
"Is it okay if I close my eyes for a little bit, I am just so tired," Clarke asked feeling her eyes dropping closed as she asked the question.
Abby nodded, "Yes, however I will be periodically waking you up as you have a mild concussion."
Clarke nodded until she was out cold.

Anya walked into the mechanics shop to the usual shouting.
"Are you kidding me, why in the hell would you think that electricity would be the way to solving this problem, Happy? Not everything is a machine." Riku asked shouting at her as they looked for another type of machinery to use.
"Oh I don't know, because it's the only thing we haven't tried," Happy challenged Riku as she held onto the device she had built for resuscitating someone. "If we make some minor changes to this defibrillator, I think we could use it as a quick solution for this problem."
"And what pray tell would happen to the patient you think? Hm.. a sudden quick burst of electricity…" He asked sarcastically, "Maybe death! You do know the heart kind of needs to beat for them to stay alive." He pointed out the obvious.
"I know that! I'm not an idiot, I built this device, did I not. But as you said over the last couple of hours, the chips find their way into the brain stem, or somewhere near, to essentially control the person they have inhabited, correct?" She asked him but didn't wait for him to answer. "So we've tried different forms of non-harmful chemicals, we tried a blood transfusion which just made things worse, we've tried heat, and cold, hell we even put her in a make-shift wind tunnel, and nothing has made a dent. What we haven't tried is electricity."
Anya walked into the argument and stood next to Lexa who was sitting on a stool next to a table, as the scientist and mechanic yelled at each other about two meters in front of her. "Any progress?"
Lexa shrugged, "Not really. They are trying to decide what to do next. Has anyone woken up yet?"
Anya nodded, "Yes, Raven woke up and said she thinks a red light lit up before she walked away and thinks that might be something. Clarke also just woke up, but she unfortunately doesn't have any memory of the incident but she seemed like she was mending."
"That's good. I'll check in on her once I know these two are out of ideas," Lexa stated as she continued to look between the two of them arguing.
"If we put the two lines of electricity on each temple, then she would surely die, oh yeah, that would definitely stop what's inside her because she'd be dead!" Riku argued his point further on Happy idiotic plan.
"How exactly are they measuring whether it works or not?" Anya asked curious to know how they would know whether or not Lexa was free or not.
"We determined that whenever we try to move to get rid of whatever is hindering her, she attacks us, so we just test after to see if she's still hostile and then we move on," Happy stated as she picked up a nearby wrench.
Lexa nodded, "Yeah, they keep knocking me out, and when I wake up they are onto something new."
"How many times has this-"
Lexa shook her head stopping Anya's thought, "Too many, but what is weird is that I keep healing so that's helping with that."
"You keep healing?" Anya asked confused.
"Yeah, we think it has something to do with the chip," Riku brought up as he handed a couple pads to Happy. "The idea behind the chip from what Abby said is that it makes the person who takes it 'better' so if you were suffering with an injury, then theoretically it would get rid of it. The only thing is that we don't know if it's just masking the pain, or if it's actually getting rid of it."
"For all we know, once we use this device to get it out of Lexa, she might just be in severe pain from all the times we've hit her with wrenches and such." Happy added to the conversation. "Or, maybe because of the 'flame' she's actually been healing. We won't know until we get it out of her."
"Are you ready yet?" Riku asked looking to Happy before looking to Anya and Lexa.
"Oh, now you want to use my idea," Happy said sarcastically, "Yes, I'm ready. Lexa, if you could come over and sit in this chair, we'll strap you to it just in case it doesn't work."
Lexa got up from the stool and walked into the middle of the two, and sat in the chair. They used some wire that was in the shop to tie up her arms. At which point they connected the pads to Lexa's bare arms. By this point, she'd taken her jacket off to make it easier when they tried the transfusion so she was sitting in her tank top with her hair behind her.
"Ready?" Happy asked Lexa as she took a step back from the chair with the makeshift defibrillator in her hand.
Lexa nodded, "I guess so," She answered with no emotion whatsoever not confident that this would work at all.
Riku looked to Happy, "Okay, whenever you're ready. Just know, this is on you if she dies."
Happy smiled sarcastically at Riku, before she took another step back and turned the machine on. It fired up until it was at full charge, at which point she hit it without warning.
Lexa vibrated as the electricity shot through her entire being, the chair bouncing from the movement, until her head fell limp forward, her whole body not moving.
"Oh no, I think I killed her," Happy stated as she turned off the machine, shocked that she'd actually knocked out Lexa this time without any tools.
"I told you," Riku pointed his finger at Happy.
Anya eyed Lexa closely as soon as her head fell, "Wait." She stopped their argument, walking between the two of them, she lifted Lexa's head up and as she did they noticed a silver metallic liquid mixed with blood dripping from her nose. "What is that?"
"Oh my god…" Riku dragged off as realization hit him, he brought his fingers to Lexa's neck and confirmed it, there was a pulse.
"It worked," they both said in unison.
Happy couldn't believe it actually worked, "I thought I would have for sure killed her."
Riku grabbed a cloth and wiped at the metallic liquid coming from Lexa's nose, not only to get rid of it, but so that he could examine it later on, once she woke up again. Once they were sure it was all gone, he folded it up and put it into his pocket. "Okay, let's get her to medical."
It took several minutes for them to arrive at the med bay with Lexa, at which point they placed her on the gurney next to Clarke.
"Oh my god, what happened?" Clarke asked as she was awake for the nth time for a check up.
"She should be okay, we believe we got the chip out of her so she should be okay," Riku said to Clarke like she knew what he was talking about. From the look on her face, she didn't, "Sorry, you've missed a lot. I'll fill you in once she wakes up."
Clarke reached over the gap with her left hand to grasp onto Lexa's right hand, "You better be right because I was told she was fine, and now she doesn't look that way."
Riku nodded, "That's fair, but she should be fine."
"Ugh…"
Riku heard the annoyed groan, and recognized it immediately. "Yuki?" He turned looking for his friend, once he found him, he went over.
Yuki blinked a couple of times, lifting his left hand to block out some of the light. "Ugh," He groaned in pain trying to move his right arm but finding difficulty when he did. He couldn't move his fingers, and his arm was bandaged completely. He also could only see out of his right eye, "What happened?" He asked his voice croaked from all the soot that would have gathered in his throat.
Anya walked up behind Riku, "I was hoping you could tell us what happened?"
Yuki rubbed at his neck trying to get rid of some of the cricks in his neck before speaking. He closed his eyes as he thought back, "I remember telling Raven to go rest, when this light on the device started blinking." He opened his eyes, "I was talking to Lexa about the chips and the connection they might have, when I realized that the red light was blinking faster and faster, which in my experience can only mean one thing."
Riku made the explosion motion with his hands, and the sound effect.
Yuki nodded, "Exactly, I figured we should get out just in case. From how I feel, it must have exploded like I thought it might?"
Anya nodded, "Yes, the lab is a wreckage now."
"Did everyone-"
"Yes, you were the last one to wake up, everyone else is fine," Anya answered quickly to assuage his fear.
"Well, Lexa's unconscious again, but it's for other reasons," Riku brought up which earned him a glare from Anya. "What? It's true."
"So you found a solution then?" Yuki asked curious to know what happened with Lexa.
"How about you rest for now, and we will fill you in later on?" Anya stopped Riku from answering the question as she knew from experience that once these two start, it takes a lot to stop them.
Yuki nodded, "I like that idea," He said as he closed his eye once again and fell back to sleep.
Anya turned to Riku, "So something did cause it to explode."
"You know, it could have had to do with Lexa," Riku thought out loud.
"Explain," Anya looked to him for answers, walking back toward where Lexa was laying with Happy nearby with Clarke and Abby.
"Oh, I can explain that," Happy cut in getting a glare from Riku, and she just smiled back. "Think of it like this, when you build a bridge there are connecting points from one end to the other, right? But if you disconnect one of those connections then the bridge collapses. So from the long conversations Riku and I had about the chips, we think that this entity that is controlling all of the infected people, has these connections in hopes of connecting to specific things, in this case this device. So theoretically, even though Lexa's connection was weak, this entity would have still been able to connect to the device, and then…" She uses her hands to make an explosion with sound effects.
"But why?" Anya asked the question on everyone's mind.
Riku shrugged, "That's the question isn't it. Why chose to blow up the device, in a secure bunker?"
"I feel like there are more questions than answers now," Clarke added to the conversation.
Riku looked over to Clarke smiling that she was okay, "That seems to be the case, yes."
"UGH!"
Everyone turned toward the explosion of anger.
Lexa sat up touching both sides of her head with her hands, "What did you two do to me?!"
Happy and Riku grabbed the nearest heavy object in reaction to the previous moments with Lexa after waking from an experiment.
Anya put her hands out to stop both of them, "That's normal Lexa, calm down. How do you feel?" She asked calmly as the scientist and mechanic lowered their hands but still held onto the tray, and stick.
"How do I feel?" Lexa looked Anya in the eyes, "I feel like someone hit me with a wrench several times," She directed her anger toward Happy.
"Oh… so it was masking the pain then," Happy nodded as she picked up a pencil to note that as she looked over to Riku who was also nodding in agreement.
"You are damn right it was masking the pain, I also feel a little deaf, and my face hurts like I was only just punched in the face. What is happening?" Lexa half shouted at someone to get the answers she required.
"Definitely was masking pain," Riku agreed, looking to Happy to note that.
"Well, we believe that the shock of electricity has disintegrated the chip as it came out of your nose, and it appears that once it's out of your system, you experience all the pain you should have been experiencing that entire time," Happy suggested based on what she was looking at.
Lexa breathed in and let it all out of her nose feeling anger forming on a whole other level, "I suggest that the two of you leave now, before I find something to hurt you with!" She shouted in pain and anger.
The two looked between each other and ran out of the room.
Anya watched them leave and then turned back to Lexa, "It's nice to have you back, commander. Rest now, and we will see what the day brings tomorrow."
Lexa sighed annoyed at the situation at hand, leaning back on the bed as Anya turned to leave. It wasn't until she looked to her right that her eyes connected with blue. "Hey, you are awake."
Clarke nodded, "So are you. Feel better, do you?"
Lexa nodded, "Better than I have, that is for sure. I feel more like myself." She said as she watched Abby get up and walk away leaving them as alone as they could be in a med bay. "Hey, I am sorry for what I said to you way back when you saved me in the tent."
Clarke shook her head, "Don't worry about it. I forgive you. How about we just rest, and we can talk about it tomorrow?"
Lexa nodded, "I would love that. I need strength to find those two idiots and retaliate."
Clarke chuckled, "It's nice having you back." She said as she closed her eyes again.
"You too," Lexa answered before also closing her eyes.
