A month has passed.
Brittany's life has definitely changed more than she had expected. Motherhood was certainly a challenge she wasn't, and still isn't, ready for. She knew she was unprepared, she was unprepared from the moment she found out she was pregnant. Bringing her baby home for the first time was the scariest day of her life, and definitely the hardest because she just didn't know what the hell to do. Luckily her sisters were by her side the entire time, but those few moments where she was left alone with her newborn baby were some of the scariest and nerve wracking moments ever. She wasn't sure when to feed her daughter, when to clean her, when to help her fall asleep - everything. One time, after she and Eleanor had just finished bathing the baby, Eleanor stepped out of the bathroom for a few minutes, and Brittany was left standing there, with a damp baby in her arms, not knowing what to do next. Some days were harder than others, that when she found a few minutes to spare to catch her breath, she would sometimes break down and cry because she just wanted the best for her daughter and was scared that she wasn't doing enough.
And to make things worse, she would think about Alvin nonstop, and it kept her up at night all the time. As much as her baby brought her the most love and happiness in the entire world, the heartbreak came even faster when she thought about Alvin, her baby's father. She just desperately wanted him to come back home, so that they can raise their baby together, so that Alvin can finally meet his own daughter, and so that the world could make sense again.
Brittany had hoped that Dave could do something to help Alvin get out early. It was sometimes all she could think about; the hope of his release was the only thing that kept her sane. But when Dave had visited 2 weeks ago, he brought upon the news that Brittany least wanted to hear, but expected. There was nothing, absolutely nothing that could be done until Alvin is released. She has cried herself to sleep a few times because of it. She was just so angry, so hurt, so lost and confused. What hurt the most was that all of this could have been prevented in so many ways, that he could be here with her and their daughter right now. For fuck sake, it just didn't make sense at all.
It was hard not having Alvin around, especially for their daughter's first month of being alive, but she had to take it day by day. She's a new mother, and she was learning something new every single day, trying to raise and take care of her daughter as her heart ached and bruised deeply for Alvin's return. But every time she looked at Melody, and saw her pretty gold eyes that she got from her father, it was just a reminder that her heartbreak will be mended soon.
It was a cool evening; it was raining ever so slightly. It was one of those evenings where things felt so quiet and eerie. Her sisters were both out, her daughter was asleep, and since she was on maternity leave from work, there really wasn't anything left to do. The moment Melody fell asleep two hours ago, Brittany had finished tidying up the entire house, including all the laundry and dishes. She was surprised with herself; she was never the most responsible person growing up. She always used to be that girl who left her chores til the last minute while she hung out and partied with her friends. Now, since her baby was her first priority, even having one dirty shirt laid out was a huge no for Brittany.
Her bedroom was quiet, except for the tiny little breaths that came from her daughter as she slept peacefully. Brittany walked over to the crib and looked down, admiring her beautiful baby. It was crazy to think that this precious little bundle of life belonged to her, that one crazy, intoxicated night filled with fights and hatred, had resulted into the most angelic and perfect baby girl in the entire world.
Brittany teared up every time she thought back to her first few months of pregnancy, where she was so damn miserable with her life, where she hated the fact that she was pregnant, and was a trillion percent certain that she didn't want to have the baby at all, because she didn't want to be associated with Alvin Seville in any way. What would people say if they found out that she and Alvin, two people who everyone knew hated one another, had drunk sex at a party which ended up with an unwanted pregnancy? God, Brittany would've rather died than have that attached to her name.
But now, looking at her daughter, and seeing how innocent and incredible she really was, how she lit up the hearts of everyone around her, keeping her child was the best damn decision she has ever made in her entire life.
As she stared at her daughter, her phone started to buzz from behind her. Brittany raised an eyebrow before walking back to her bed, and digging through her blankets and pillows until she found her phone. She looked at the screen, and realized it was a random number calling her. At first, she was about to ignore it, like she usually does with unknown numbers, until her gut feeling told her otherwise. Brittany stared at the number for a moment, and it was as if everything had hit her at once.
This number had called her before.
And she immediately answered it.
She put the phone to her ear, but didn't say anything at first. She was hoping that whoever was on the other end would speak up first, but they didn't. Her heart began to race, because she was desperately hoping that she was right, desperately hoping that it was him.
"...Alvin?" her voice was small, as if she was afraid to get her hopes up, only to find out that it wasn't him at all.
There was a chuckle. "How'd you know?"
She gasped to herself. Her chest immediately started to feel heavy, but she was drowning in bliss. It was him, it was really him, and she couldn't believe it. The heartbreak that had been living in her chest for the past few weeks hit her a little harder, because god, she had yearned to hear his voice again for so damn long, and she just couldn't believe she was talking to him once again.
"Oh my god, Alvin," she felt pain when she said his name, but it was a pain that felt so good, that it broke her.
"Hey, Britt. Good thing you still recognize my voice," he said.
"Of course I do," she smiled, a genuine smile for the first time in ages. "I-I can't believe it's you. It's about time you called. Do you know how long I've been waiting? Jesus christ, Alvin."
"Well, if you were that desperate to talk to me, then why didn't you call me instead?" he said.
"You idiot, you're not funny," she said and closed her eyes. "You know I can't do that."
"I was kidding," he said. He sighed deeply. "I've been dying to talk to you, I swear. I'm sorry I haven't called sooner, it's just that everyone's been greedy with the phones."
Hearing his voice again was so painful because she just felt so horrible for him. He's been there for over a month already, and it kills her every time she thought about him, about how terrible and lonely his life must be in there, how miserable he must be for missing out on everything. At this point, Alvin probably already knows that his child is born, and it broke Brittany's heart. She had their child without him, a moment that Alvin was excited for, a moment they wanted to share together, a moment that they will never get back.
Too many things were bombarding her heart at once, and it was too much to handle. Hearing his voice almost made it seem as if he was here in the room with her, but knowing that he's not, made the pain in her chest ache a little deeper.
"It's okay," she said. "I'm...I'm just glad you called."
"Yeah. I, uh, miss you, Brittany," he said.
That undid her. She began to tear up, but it wasn't a sad cry. It was one of those heavy, emotional sobs that needed to get out, one of those cries that felt good and liberating to get off her chest. She closed her eyes and gripped her phone tighter. "I miss you too. I miss you so much, Alvin. I...I really wish you could come home."
Alvin sighed heavily. "I know, and I will soon, I promise. I'm only here for another few weeks, after all. Less than 2 months. And honestly, this place isn't that bad. I mean, I have my own room and everything, but shit gets boring after a while," he let out a small laugh.
Brittany laughed a little and rolled her eyes to herself. "You're the only person who can find prison amusing, Seville."
"Gotta make time pass somehow," he said. "But anyway, I, uh, wanted to let you know that I talked to Dave last night, only for a few minutes. It was my first time talking to him ever since I got arrested and I explained everything to him."
"Really? How did he take it?" she asked.
"Well, like how every parent would when they find out their son's been wrongly arrested. It was...hard, Brittany. I've never heard Dave cry like that before," he said. His voice grew low and he sounded broken, as if he knew that the pain he had caused Dave was because of him. "But he told me he understands, and that he forgives me. That's all that matters to me, to be honest. I've disappointed Dave so many times in the past, and I know how much that hurts him. He's finally trusting me again, for the first time in years. I've fucked up many times before, but now that my own father believes me again, I can't take that away. I want to become a better person."
"We know. I would've hung up on you by now if I didn't believe you," Brittany said.
"Uh, thanks, I think?" he laughed softly. There was a slight pause, before he spoke up again. "Anyway, Dave also told me everything else that had happened in the past month, which is why I knew I had to talk to you as soon as I could."
Her heart shattered. She knew exactly what he was talking about, and she could hear the pain in his voice. It was a subject she didn't want to talk about at all, because she didn't want him to feel the regret even more, but it was inevitable.
"Yeah," she sighed. "Things have been a little different around here lately. A good different, though."
"Yeah," Alvin cleared his throat. "So, um, how's the baby doing?"
Hearing him say that word, with such unfamiliarity and ache, was agonizing. This child belongs to him, a child that he had grown to love and adore so much. But for some reason, Alvin felt a little weird talking about the baby, as if it was something unfamiliar and new. Even though his child has already been born for some time, knowing that he wasn't there for the birth, and knowing that he hasn't even met his child yet made it feel as if the baby didn't belong to him, as if he wasn't a parent yet. It was a heartbreaking feeling, but it was a feeling he has never experienced before. He almost felt as if the baby only belonged to Brittany, and that he had to ask permission to talk about it.
"Really good. She came out very healthy, and she's perfect, Alvin. She's more than you could ever imagine," she said, and her voice was soft and gentle. She felt broken, yet her heart filled with glee every time she spoke about her baby. However, the two feelings at once made her sick.
"...Wait, hold up," he said, Brittany could just hear the smile in his voice. "It's a girl? You gave birth to a girl?"
Brittany smiled through her tears. There was joy and sadness in her heart, and she knew that Alvin was probably feeling it even more. "Yeah, a little girl. We have a daughter, Alvin, like you wanted."
"No way. Holy shit..." he whispered to himself. There were emotions brewing up in him, many were filled with happiness and love, but most were filled with pain and sorrow, realizing that he has a daughter that he has yet to meet, a daughter that was born without her father by her side. "Are you serious?"
"Uh, yeah?" Brittany couldn't help but laugh. "I didn't pretend to be pregnant for 9 months, Alvin."
"Yeah, I know, I'm just..." he trailed off. "I'm just so fucking happy, Brittany. I can't believe it. We have a daughter."
She laughed gently. "I know, right? I still can't believe it sometimes too," said Brittany. There was pure happiness in his voice, and that made her feel a thousand times better.
"What is she like?" he asked her.
Brittany sighed and smiled. Her heart felt so full; she hasn't felt this level of love and happiness in so long, and it broke her to to know that the one person she wanted to share this love and warmth with, was on the other side of the phone, and not with her. She took a quick glance at her sleeping baby, and smiled a little to herself. As empty as she felt without Alvin, their daughter certainly did make up for it.
"She's...amazing, Alvin. She's truly incredible. She's perfect and innocent and so, so beautiful. It's almost hard to believe that we made her, because she is so damn angelic and perfect. Not gonna lie, but I was a little nervous, because you and I have been such reckless and irresponsible people our entire lives, and we aren't exactly the most suited to become parents. Dave told me that you were temperamental and difficult to handle when you were a baby, and I was probably the same way, and I was afraid that she would turn out like us, but I was wrong. She is filled with nothing but pure love and joy, and she has the sweetest and happiest personality in the world. I didn't know it was possible to love someone so much. She really is the most incredible person," said Brittany, and her heart was overflowing.
Alvin was smiling to himself. Hearing about his daughter made him the happiest he has felt in almost 2 months. "What else? What does she look like?"
"Well," Brittany laughed a little. "Let's just say that I'm a little annoyed, because she didn't get most of her looks from me."
"Wait, really?"
Brittany couldn't help but roll her eyes to herself before letting out another laugh. "Yeah. She looks so much like you, Alvin. All of my friends have already met her, and they all agree that she looks more like you, than of me."
Alvin laughed. "Really? I mean, she must look like you too, even just a little."
"Well, she does, obviously. She looks a tiny bit like me. Your brothers say that she looks a lot like me when she's asleep. But I guess the reason why people think she looks more like you are her eyes, Alvin. They're stunning. They looks exactly like yours, it's kinda crazy. She definitely has your face, but everyone's saying that she has my nose. She's so damn cute. Her hair isn't as auburn as mine, but a little lighter, kind of like yours. I hate to admit it, Seville, but that little girl is definitely your twin," said Brittany.
"Damn. I told you these Seville genes are strong," he chuckled.
"Whatever," she said. "I can't believe I went through 9 whole months of hell, just for my daughter to look just like you. Ugh, it's so annoying."
Alvin laughed again, before silence swept them both for a short moment. He cleared his throat before he spoke up again. "So, uh, what did you name her?"
Brittany smiled to herself, before taking another glance at her baby, who was still sound asleep in her crib. "Well, do you remember that one time when we were hanging out at your place, and you were playing your guitar?"
"Yeah, I remember."
"Well, it was so nice seeing you play music for the first time in ages, because I know how much music means to you. You mentioned a name that felt so right for our daughter, and I couldn't get the name out of my head, because it just fit so perfectly. So I named her Melody. Melody Rose Seville."
Hearing his daughter's name, let alone a name that he had picked out, made him so fucking happy, but also so damn emotional. All of this didn't really seem real, up until he heard his daughter's name for the first time. He was filled with so much joy, but at the same time, he was downright heartbroken, knowing that he has to wait a few more weeks until he can meet his daughter for the first time.
"It's fucking perfect, Britt. The name, it's..." he trailed off.
Brittany frowned when she heard the silence on the other end. "Alvin?"
Alvin didn't even realize it, but he had shut his eyes for a moment, and opened them again, only to find that his eyes were filled with tears. He never cries. He never, ever fucking cries. He's Alvin Seville, shit doesn't get to him like this. But for some reason, just hearing about his daughter, about her appearance, how perfect she is, how loved she is by everyone, how everyone is so overjoyed by this little girl, while he was stuck in fucking prison for a crime he didn't do, missing out on every damn minute of his daughter's life, it just broke his heart in a way that he has never felt before.
"I-It's nothing, I'm just..." he closed his eyes again.
And that was when Brittany understood. She has known Alvin Seville almost her entire life, and she knows him more than anyone else. He has never acted like this. He has never sounded like this. And it absolutely broke Brittany's soul to know that the boy that she was so painfully in love with, was feeling this way all by himself with no one to comfort him.
"Alvin," she said. "You have every right to feel upset right now."
"I'm more than just upset, Brittany. I'm fucking devastated, and there's no one to blame except for myself. If only I had listened to you, and not let my drinking and partying addictions almost ruin my life, I would be there with you and our daughter right now. I'm sorry for not being there, at a time where we need each other the most. I'm sorry for not being at the hospital with you. I'm sorry that you had to give birth to our baby alone. I'm sorry that you have to raise our daughter all by yourself. Fuck, Brittany, I'm fucking angry that I'm not there with you right now, because I should be. None of this makes any goddamn sense. We've been preparing for this together, we were ready to go through this shit together, to raise our child together, and I'm just so fucking sorry that you have to go through this alone," he said.
"Alvin," Brittany was shocked to hear him so broken. She has never heard him like this before. "You don't have to apologize for anything. I know this suck, trust me, I haven't stopped thinking about it since the night Simon told me you got arrested. But at the end of the day, our daughter will still be waiting for you. I know she's excited to meet you."
Alvin sighed deeply. He understands. There's no point in getting upset, because it is what it is, but it just hurts to know what he's missing out on. "Yeah, I know. I just wish I was there, Britt."
"I know. But Melody and I will be here for you when you return home. I talk about you to her all the time, y'know," she said gently.
He smiled a little. As much heartbreak there was in his chest, it felt good to know that there was something good waiting for him after this shitshow is over. "Really?"
"Yeah. I tell her how much you love her, how you've loved her so much the moment you found out that I was pregnant, how you're probably counting down the days until you meet her. God, Alvin, she's gonna have you wrapped around her finger, I can already tell," said Brittany.
"Probably," he laughed. "I mean, you know how I feel about you, Brittany, so imagine how much I would love our daughter."
She felt her heart skip a beat. Although she and Alvin have been through so much together, they have never really officiated any sort of relationship with each other, other than two former enemies who were having a baby together. It has been a long journey filled with every type of emotion out there, and Brittany hopes that when Alvin comes home, that they can finally - finally - be together. No more bullshit, no more heartbreaks, nothing. Just them, and their daughter, and that was all that mattered.
"How are Simon and Theo? And Dave?" asked Alvin.
"They're all good. They love being uncles and a grandpa, it's amazing to watch. Simon and Theodore came over yesterday for a few hours to see Melody. Dave, on the other hand, has been stopping by pretty much everyday to see her. She fell asleep on Dave's chest a few nights ago, and it was the cutest thing ever. They all love her so, so much," said Brittany.
"...God, I can't believe I'm the last one to meet her," the hurt in his voice was raw.
Brittany frowned to herself. "I know. But I know you'll be able to make up all the time you've lost when you return home."
"I will," he promised her. "And I swear I'll make it all up to you too, Brittany. I've put you through some shit over the past few months, and I will never forgive myself for it. I know I fucked up whatever we had between us, so I hope we can start again. You deserve everything, and I swear, I'll make everything right again. I went through hell and almost ruined my own life, and you were only trying to save me. I'm sorry for what I put you through, Brittany."
"I...I know," she said into the phone, and her heart was starting to ache again as memories of that night when she found out that Alvin had been drinking and partying uncontrollably behind her back, came rushing back into her mind. "Mistakes happen for a reason, Alvin. People learn from them."
"Yeah, I'm not gonna make the same mistakes again. For you and for our daughter," he said, before he went quiet for a few seconds. "...Shit, look, I have to go now, I'm so sorry, Britt. The call is being timed, and I'm way overdue. But I swear, l'll talk to you again as soon as I can."
She closed her eyes and bit back tears. She felt breathless, and hurt and so damn lost. Hearing his voice again was so comforting, as if life was normal again and he was there in the room with her. Saying goodbye was just another reminder that she had to continue this alone, that she has to continue raising her daughter by herself while the person she loves is in prison.
"Okay," that was all she could say, but her voice trembled. "It was good hearing for you again, Alvin. I miss you so much."
"I miss you too, Brittany. I promise, when I get out of this place, I'll make everything right again."
There was sincerity laced in his voice, and Brittany knew he was so damn serious about turning his life around, and against her heartbreak, it made her smile just a little. "I know you will, and Melody and I will be here, waiting for you to come home."
The next evening, Brittany was standing in front of her full length mirror, fixing her hair, when she heard a tiny coo come from her daughter. The sound never failed to make her heart explode, so she turned around and smiled when she saw her tiny baby, who was lying on her back in the middle of her mother's bed. She was dressed in a light pink onesie with white socks and mittens, and Brittany just couldn't believe that something as precious as her little girl could exist. Brittany walked over to her bed, and laid down on her side beside her daughter. She reached over and pushed the tiny stray hairs away from her face, so that she could see her baby's pretty gold eyes.
"I step away for three seconds, and you already need my attention, huh?" Brittany laughed. "Gosh, you might look like your dad, but you act just like me. We're gonna drive your daddy insane."
Melody turned her head and stared at her mother with her big eyes. A tiny little smile appeared on her face.
Brittany let out a sigh before reaching to caress her daughter's round cheeks. "I can't wait until you meet your dad, baby. You two are gonna become best friends, I just know it. He's very funny, and very charming, and he loves you so, so much. I told him everything about you, and he can't wait to meet you. Your daddy loves you more than anything in the world, much like how mommy loves you."
Her daughter cooed again, and Brittany couldn't help but laugh. Gosh, her daughter made her so happy. Being a mother felt so incredible, that she never knew why she was so reluctant on parenthood before. She and her sisters grew up with an empty childhood; their mother abandoned them when they were all so young, forcing Brittany to become the responsible older sibling for Jeanette and Eleanor at such a young age. It definitely took a toll on their childhoods, and having no parents at such a young age certainly affected them. Maybe that was why Brittany was so in love with being a mom, because it was a feeling that she has never experienced, a feeling that she wanted her daughter to have, a feeling that finally filled that spot in her heart that has been empty for so long.
"You're so cute. Mama loves you so, so much," Brittany said gently. She got up off her bed, before reaching down to pick up her baby in her arms. "Come on, let's go see aunt Eleanor and aunt Jeanette."
She left her bedroom and walked downstairs where she found her two sisters. Eleanor and Jeanette turned around when they heard footsteps, and the moment they saw their niece, a huge smile appeared on their faces. The love that they felt every time they saw that baby was just indescribable.
"Hi, munchkin!" Jeanette squealed as she ran up to her niece. She placed a soft kiss on one of her round, chubby cheeks, before looking back at her sister. She raised an eyebrow when she noticed Brittany's change of clothes. "Are you going somewhere, Britt?"
"Yeah, I actually need to run to the grocery store really quick to pick up some stuff. I didn't even realize that I was almost out of diapers and baby formula," said Brittany.
"Already? Didn't you just go shopping a few days ago?" asked Eleanor.
"Yeah, but turns out, one box of diapers, formula and baby food does not last long at all," Brittany sighed deeply. "I'm still learning. New mom stuff is harder than I thought."
"But you're doing an amazing job, Britt. You should be so proud of yourself," smiled Jeanette, before she turned to the cheeky little baby in her sister's arms again. "Especially when you're taking care of a little princess like this one."
Eleanor smiled. "Are you taking Melody with you?"
"Yeah. Reminds me, I need to adjust her car seat before we go," she sighed. It was crazy to think how many little details she has to pay attention to now. It was overwhelming, and a little scary at times, but she knew it was all part of the learning process.
"Grocery shopping with a newborn sounds like a lot of work, Brittany. Why don't you leave her here? Jeanette and I will look after her while you're gone," said Eleanor.
Brittany bit her bottom lip. She had thought about that before, because god, grocery shopping with a newborn was really a daunting task. However, the thought of not being with her daughter made her a little nervous, because she has never left her daughter alone before. Not that she was going to be completely alone, of course, but Brittany has been by Melody's side ever since the moment she was born.
"I don't know. I mean, I've never been away from her before. It's gonna be my first time leaving her at home," said Brittany.
"But you're only gonna be away for a few minutes. Look, we understand. You're a new mom, and being away from your baby is scary, but it's something you're gonna have to do inevitably someday," said Eleanor.
"I know," sighed Brittany. She looked down at her daughter, who was laying her head against her chest. "I just don't wanna be away from her, that's all."
"She's gonna be fine, Britt. We're just trying to make your life easier, that's all," Eleanor told her.
Brittany sighed deeply, but she knew her sisters were right. She was just being a worried, paranoid, over-protective mom - and she knows she can't be that way forever. "Well, I mean, if you guys don't mind watching her for a few minutes, then sure. I'll be back as soon as I can, though."
"We don't mind at all, duh," said Eleanor, as she reached over to scoop her niece into her own arms. The baby let out a tiny giggle, and the sound of it made all of their hearts melt. "She'll be safe and sound with us, isn't that right, cutie pie?"
Brittany laughed a little before reaching to grab her car keys from the counter. "Okay, fine, I guess you guys are right. Just call me if you guys need anything, though, okay?" she said, before reaching over to place a gentle kiss on Melody's forehead. "Bye, baby. Be a good girl to aunt Jeanette and aunt Eleanor, okay? I love you."
After placing one last kiss on her daughter's head, Brittany literally had to force herself to walk out of the house, because looking at her daughter made it so hard to leave. But she finally did, and got into her car. She glanced at her rear-end mirror for a moment, and seeing the empty car seat made her heart break a little, but she'll get over it. Missing her daughter was just a normal feeling that all new parents go through. She arrived at the grocery store a few moments later, and picked up everything she needed and more. The only thing that stumped her was when she was in the diaper isle, staring at all the boxes, because she completely forgot what size she usually gets for her daughter.
Of course, her daughter was only a month old, and she was still a tiny little baby. But Brittany didn't want to get a size that were too big, or a size that was too small. God, it was going to take a long time because she got use to all this parent stuff, but she was taking it day by day.
She pulled out her phone to call Jeanette, just to ask her if she could pop into the bathroom and check what diapers Melody currently wears, but after a minute of ringing, her sister's phone went straight to voicemail. Brittany raised an eyebrow to herself, then hung up. Jeanette was probably busy with some work or school stuff, she figured, so she decided to call Eleanor, but just like before, her sister didn't pick up.
Brittany called both of her sisters two more times, and again, their phones went straight to voicemail. Brittany's eyebrows furrowed, and she was starting to get not only frustrated, but extremely worried. This was not like them at all; her sisters usually always picked up their phones, so why weren't they picking up now? Any other given circumstance, Brittany would've just left it alone, but now that she has a baby, it made her even more anxious, especially since her baby was at home without her.
"C'mon, pick up," Brittany muttered into the phone as she called her sisters for the fifth time.
They didn't pick up, and Brittany felt sick with worry. They weren't picking up their phone, and her daughter was home with them. There was something going on, and she had a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach that told her that she had to go home right now. Things were a lot different, now that her newborn baby is involved.
She bought her things, left the store, and got into her car all within 5 minutes, before speeding down the street until she reached her neighborhood. The moment she turned off her car, she ran towards her house, almost tripping twice before fumbling to get her keys into the lock. Once she did, she pushed the door open and stumbled inside.
Her house was dark. All the lights were off, and it was frightening.
Brittany shut the door, and locked it behind her. Her heart was racing, and not in a good way. Her hand felt up against the wall until she felt the light switch, and when Brittany finally turned on the lights and saw what was in front of her, she almost screamed.
Jeanette and Eleanor were sitting on two chairs, sitting back to back, with a rope tied around them to keep them glued in their seats. A strip of duct tape was over both of their mouths, preventing them from making a sound. But when they saw their older sister, they started to cry and scream against the tape. They were both sobbing.
"Eleanor! Jeanette!" Brittany screamed. She ran towards her sisters, and fell on her knees in front of them.
She tried to untie the rope from her sisters, but it was knotted so up tight, that it almost seemed impossible to undo. What the hell was happening right now? Who could have done this? Brittany felt like she was in some sick nightmare. What was going on? Tears began to rise in Brittany's eyes. She was scared, terrified, confused, and everything else in between. Brittany reached over and slowly ripped off the tape from both of her sisters' mouths.
"Oh my god, Brittany!" Jeanette cried.
"What the hell is happening?" Brittany exclaimed. "Who did this to you? Fuck, where's my phone? I need to call the police!"
"No, no, no, you can't, please," Eleanor sobbed. Her voice was trembling as she got her words out. "You're gonna get hurt if you do!"
"What?" Brittany gasped. Then she felt her heart fall to the fucking floor, when she remembered her daughter. Seeing her sisters tied and taped up almost made her forget about Melody, and the fear and anxiety in Brittany's chest was almost enough to make her pass out. "Wait, where's Melody?"
"He has her," Jeanette cried. "He threatened to hurt her if we didn't hand her over to him until you returned."
"Who? WHO? Where the fuck is my daughter?" Brittany screamed as tears ran down her face.
"She's right here."
Brittany gasped and felt her entire body grow cold when a new voice had entered the conversation. She turned around, and it was as if the devil had reached into her chest, and pierced her entire body with all the fright, hatred and agony that the entire world could offer.
Standing just a few feet away from them all was Kyle Harris, her ex-boyfriend. That same ex-boyfriend who she had been with for 3 years, the same ex-boyfriend who left her in the middle of the restaurant after finding out that Brittany was pregnant with a kid that isn't his. The same ex-boyfriend who had found out that Alvin Seville is the father, the same ex-boyfriend who had the nerve to ask Brittany if the child could possibly be his.
And the worse part was seeing her tiny, innocent daughter in his arms.
"Hi, Brittany," he grinned at her. "Missed me?"
Aaaand I'm just gonna leave it there for now.
This chapter was a big one! Alvin now knows about his daughter, and Kyle is back in the story. Shit, what is he gonna do? Why does he have Melody? What do you guys think is gonna happen next?
On a serious note, I hope you are all doing well. I tried to get this chapter out as soon as I could, because the world is a dark and scary place right now, and we could all use a little distraction from reality, right? But please remember to wash your hands and social distance! This virus is no joke.
Thank you all so much for reading, and please REVIEW! Let's try and hit 860-865 reviews until the next one!
See you all in the next chapter!
