Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter or KHR(even if the KHR element is somewhat lacking right now).
30. Meanwhile, in Ravenclaw...
Jean happened to have a couple friends in Ravenclaw and pitched the idea of an Eldritch Horror Research and Reversal Committee to them. Agreeing to the necessity, they took the idea to their House at large. "Wait wait wait... are we seriously considering getting mixed up in the Chaos Trio's mess?" one of the Third Years protested. Alicia Gray, a bright Muggleborn, quirked an eyebrow at him.
"Oh, so you want the Horrors that Goldstein kid summons to run amok? Unchecked and with unknown weaknesses?" she asked pointedly. The boy sunk back, a mullish expression on his face.
"I never said that. I was just pointing out the there's really no reason for us to go hunting these things. The Professors and the Prefects have it handled, don't they?" he countered. Alicia frowned.
"They might not be enough. You saw what happened last week, how close a call Black had. If we don't go looking to combat these things, they're going to find us. Or worse; unprepared students. Do you want something like that on your conscience? We're Ravenclaw! The house of the Clever! The Bookworms! The Scholars! If we cannot devise a way to combat the Horrors, who can?! Flitwick is too busy with his normal duties to take on something like this. So, naturally, it falls to us students. Besides, think of all we could learn from this!" she ranted, just holding back from waving her arms around for emphasis. Those who had been skeptical sighed and nodded.
"Fine," the first guy relented. "Just don't expect me to go out and fight those things! I'll stick to the research."
"Good enough for me," Alicia said with a slight nod. "Besides, it doesn't have to be the whole House. Just those with the time and energy to spare for the project. Jean from Hufflepuff says some of their upper years are going to help out as well."
"So wait. The Hufflepuffs are working on this? Why did you..."
"Oh don't get her started on that again, Gary!"
"Because while Hufflepuff is full of excellent witches and wizards, their skills don't lay in research as often as us Ravenclaws. We research and analyze the data that Hufflepuff brings us, we give them working theories and tactics to try against the Horrors that Goldstien summons. And possibly give Cowl's potions' partner some ideas on how to run damage control on that boy's cauldron," Alicia answered.
"Merlin knows that poor soul needs help dealing with that disaster of a Potioneer," one of the First Years muttered.

"Ya know," Jamie Elderson remarked idly as she paged through a particularly dry tome, "the pranks and things the Chaos Trio pull are pretty fun sometimes."
"Doesn't hurt that they're kinda cute," her friend Emily answered, working on an essay.
"Eh, Eric is cuter," Jamie countered.
"I... don't actually want to argue with you on this. Can't we just work on McGonegall's essay?" Emily asked, drawing her friend's attention to what, exactly, she was writing.
"'Oh shoot! I'd nearly forgotten about that!" Jamie exclaimed, diving for her school bag and pulling out a half started essay. Emily laughed and shifted her book toward her ironically forgetful friend.
"Here, I'll let you share my reference book."
"Life saver!"

A/N: Okay... this didn't want to be written. I'm sorry. Anyway, up next... More Parkour! Give me a while to plan out a proper Storming of Hogwarts, yeah? I have a feeling, with how things tend to happen at Hogwarts, it might happen a few mores times...
