Brooklyn gave a roar as flakes fell from his body as several more rang out after him. When they had returned from the lab it had been nearly sunrise, leaving little to be discussed. Glancing to his left he spotted the light lavender skin of his ex-cell roommate. It lingered on her for a moment, watching as her attention went to Luna and Rocky as they grouped up.
One thing they had both noticed on the flight back to the clan's clocktower was how much clearer their minds seemed to be in the open air. No longer being stuck near each other in a small cell room while being watched for every little movement. He could see a difference now, she was more relaxed, not tensed up as if ready for anything to jump out at her.
A hand gently settled over his wing covered shoulder making the crimson gargoyle turn his head to his leader. Goliath glanced down at him before looking ahead at the four females, Angela having gathered near them seconds before, as they dove into the night air with laughter being heard as they went. "Give her time, Brooklyn. You both have been through much in the last two months."
He gave a nod at that feeling Goliath's hand leave his shoulder. "I'm just worried what that Doctor did to her. Making her know what was to be forced onto her." Brooklyn shifted towards the lavender male. "Even though I know we are no longer in that situation…I can't help but feel like I wanted it to happen. To know I had a mate."
Goliath studied him in a grim fashion. "It is hard to fight the instinct of looking for a mate, but you both are young still. Just know that you have us all to help you both through this." He stated, making the younger of the two, nod in understanding. "It will be easier to get to know her once the cycle is done. Until then, it is best that the two of you stay apart."
Brooklyn was glad to have his leader's council during this time as he shifted around. Without the feeling of the stress that had come from being in the cell with her, he had come to find it harder to contain himself. He could now woo June to choosing him and not being forced towards him. "I'm going to go find something to eat. Hopefully Broadway hasn't taken the lot before any of us had a chance to grab something." He stated passing Hudson on his way inside where his rookery brothers were.
"Ah, just in time too." Clay said coming over to Brooklyn and handing him a plate of pancakes. "Snagged these beauties just as they were done being made. There's a batch being made right now if you want yours to be nice and hot." Eye ridges wiggled along with the last few words said.
At that, he gave the forest color gargoyle a smile and chuckle. "Too bad the girls left so early." Clay smirked at that and waved a fork around in the air. "Nah, they went to Elisa's for a girl's night. Said they needed things to talk about and do girly stuff without us males interfering." He replied then took a bite of pancake with a shrug of a shoulder.
An eye ridge went up at that. "Really? Huh, must have been last minute planning then."
"It will be good for them to have time to themselves." Marvin stated walking past the two. "Been too long since they have done something normal. Goliath and Hudson went out to do patrol so behave children." He smirked at them before entering the kitchen earning a couple of scuffs.
Clay gave a huff at that. "As if." Glancing at the crimson gargoyle he gave a wiggle of his eye ridges smirking. "Well, I'm off to finish this, go grab some before it's too late." All Brooklyn could do was shake his head and grab a plate for himself. It felt freeing being back in his clan, even with the newly added ones. They seemed to add more to the clan that wasn't there in a long time.
Laughter sounded in the little apartment that housed the detective and her cat with the aroma of food cooking that wafted out into the open air from the windows. Soft night air blew into the open room lifting the thin curtains lightly as the sizzling of meat was overpowered slightly by music.
Luna shook her fist a little before letting it fly open as two dice fell out and onto the board full of houses. "Damn, doubles again."
"Yes! Jail time for you." Rocky snickered watching as the mocha color gargoyle moved her figurine around the board to the jail tile. "Your turn Angela." The dice were picked up once more and let loose giving her a nine.
"Ha! You landed on my property. Pay up!" Luna gleefully said holding out a hand as the play money was given. Angela smiled even though she had lost money, she found herself enjoying the game and company. A lot more now that she wasn't the only female of the group.
Rocky took up the dice as she glanced to Angela. "So…how's it been with Broadway?" Angela looked to her with a smile. "Good. His reading has come a long way and when he cooks I can never get enough of it."
Luna gave a soft laugh at her answer hearing Rocky give a groan throwing the dice. "I think you misunderstood what Rocky was asking." An eye ridge went up towards Luna, who could only smile. "What was being asked? I said what we've been doing and that was it. Wasn't that what Rocky wanted to know?"
Elisa came over leaning a hand on the couch's top cushion. "I think what was being asked was private for Angela and Broadway alone." She stated with a smirk towards them watching as it dawned on Angela and a blush bloomed on her cheeks.
"Oh, that's no fun now! This is a girl's night and this type of stuff is the life blood." Rocky reproached moving her piece while waving a hand with a bit of dramatic flair. "I need juice, my girls, juice."
"Ummhmm. Well, if you really are that thirsty, go get some apple juice since you need it so bad." Was the response from the detective though her smile never left as she moved back to stir the food on the stovetop. Rocky watched her walk away open mouthed, but laughter was soon followed by the three playing. "Food will be done any moment now." She stated then glanced to June. "Would you gather the plates and silverware?" June gave a nod not seeing Elisa look at her with a slight frown.
"How are you holding up?" June paused for a few seconds at the soft question. "Uh…good." June answered taking down some plates.
"Good?" Elisa took a plate, piling pasta and meatballs into the center. "You sure you don't want to talk about it?" June glanced to the older woman before looking back at the plate in her hand to exchange plates with her.
"I mean, most of the time we were left alone. Yeah, a few times we were shocked and threatened but most of the time they left us to ourselves. The one we mostly saw was Abdon when she came to take a sample of my blood. She brought in pillows and items to help pass the time."
Elisa nodded changing plates and filling them. "Well, I'm always near if you want to talk more on it." She replied. "And if you need anything just let me know. The boys always do." At that statement the two gave each other a smile.
"There is one thing I wouldn't mind changing." June stated thinking on it seconds later.
"Oh?"
"Something more modern to wear." She said looking down at the outfit she sported. "Kind of can't go shopping without causing mass panic." Elisa gave her a smiling nod. "I'll see what I can do."
"Did I hear something about shopping?" Rocky asked popping her head up. "I would die to go shopping again. Been so damn long." She stated dreamily.
"You and me both. Go to the mall and look through all the cute outfits of the season and try them all on. Window shop at some of the other stores or go have lunch in between." Luna said with a slight far off gaze.
Elisa smiled with a chuckle. "I'll look when I have a night off. The only thing I will need is sizes but that can be done later. Right now, food is ready." The game having been played was abandon in favor for the meal.
The table had been set up and was now crowded. "Ohh this is good." Rocky groused out between mouthfuls. Elisa smiled in thanks. "We need to do this often." Luna stated taking another bite of noodles.
"Agreed." Angela replied gaining giggled from June and Luna. "We should plan this kind of outing at least once a month. Would be good for us with none of the menfolk."
Rocky laughed at that. "Menfolk? Okay I can see Goliath, Hudson, and Marvin being the menfolk…but the rest, eh, not so much."
Luna scuffed at that. "Of course, you would put Marvin in with the 'Menfolk'. Lexington is that childish, that only comes out with his techno stuff."
"Ohhh, do I hear some loving sigh from that?" Rocky asked cheekily. "Luna and Lexington. Awwwwweeee." Hands clapped together as a blush formed on the mocha female's face.
"I watched the two working on something Lexington was building and found the two rather close together that wing membrane was touching!" Angela giggled joining in now that it was someone else getting the attention.
"Those two would be cute together but that is up to them." Elisa stated with a smile and wink to Luna. "Though, I do approve of your choice." Luna huffed and shoved a mouthful of noodles in her mouth while June patted her back in humored comfort.
"Alright, lets finish up and clean up a little before settling in for a movie." Elisa stated earning all the attention. "Ohh, what kind of movie are we watching?" June asked. It had been a while since she was able to see a movie and didn't know all that had come out during that time. "Well, I picked up several to choose from. I have Edward Scissorhands, Dances with Wolves, Gremlins, and Ghost."
"Isn't Gremlins a horror?" Luna asked earning a smirk from the detective. "I thought so. I'd say get that one over with so we can watch the others later."
"Don't like horror?" Rocky asked then turned to Angela. "Have you seen one before?" Both shook their heads in answer. "Ohh, this will be fun. Gremlins it is!"
Soon plates were finished, the pot holding the rest of the food was contained, and the board game was put away and dishes were washed and dried. Then the living room was transformed into a pile of pillows and blankets as the movie was set up to play.
I want to Thank all that have stood with this story. Yes i havent upload in a LOOOOONNNNGGGG while, but i have not given up this one. Life just gave me more to focus on during my days that i found it hard to have much focus on any of my stories. Truly, Thank you to all who will still read this story and to those that have come to be new over the absence i gave.
On other notes. What would my dear readers like to see happen? Little tid bits here and there of interaction. Im planning on probably doing a side part for Luna and Lexington...but not sure yet. If i did, they would probably be a collection of one-shots between the two and maybe the others that have paired off. Might try to do one for Goliath and Elisa. Again that is still in a loopy cloud within my head that has yet to be decided.
