Talking to the Mirror

It's nighttime in Inkopolis. The moonlight is shining through Mindy's bedroom curtains.

The female octoling is staring into a mirror, not moving away from her eyes one bit. She's been feeling a little out of place from the world and wants to change herself for the better.

She sighs to herself, looking down at the wooden desk that is connected with the mirror.

I really want to hang out with him. How can I not make it awkward?

Mindy looks back up at the mirror. She breathes in and out, trying to think of something to start out with.

"Hey, Mark," she starts off, looking at her reflection. She then looks down.

That won't do the trick.

Mindy sits up in her chair. She starts off yet again. "So, I see that you haven't been busy, have you?"

Don't say that! What would happen if he was?

She lays her head onto the desk. Groaning, she sits back up, looking into the mirror.

"Mark, I was wondering if you would like to hang out with me?"

Sounds too childish.

"Mark, do you wanna grab a bite to eat somewhere?"

Sounds fine, just don't stutter or be awkward in any way.

"Should I even be asking him this?" Mindy asks herself. "He may just think we are friends, which we are but, I like him more than that." She groans, laying her head on the desk again. She bangs her fist on the desk, trying to get out her frustration.

He may not even like me how I do towards him. I should give up on trying to chase him down.

"Maybe I can find someone else," Mindy mutters, standing up from the chair she was sitting in.

A knock at the door.

Who's at my apartment door at this hour? Mindy thought, walking out of her bedroom. She fixes her tank top, then she opens the door to see Mark.

"What are you doing here?" Mindy says with a yawn.

"I'm just starting to get bored sitting in my apartment, Mindy. Did you have anything planned?"

Mindy's eyes widened. "No, I don't know," she stutters.

"Well, I was feeling a little hungry."

"You could just make yourself something, right?" Mindy questions him.

Mark sighed. "I was thinking about going out to eat. Do you wanna go with me?"

Is this a date?

Mindy looked at what the inkling was wearing. He was wearing a white dress shirt and black jeans.

"Sure, but I just have to get dressed." Mindy hurries into her bedroom, looking through her clothes. She then finds the black dress she wore at the comedy club she performed at.

She gets off her sweatpants and tank top quickly. She pulls the dress over her head, putting it on. She checks to make sure it wasn't backwards.

Good. I hope this is a great look.

She fixes her bra straps before heading out of the bedroom. As she walks out, she starts to smile.

"So, how is this?" she asks.

Mark smiles, chuckling lightly. "I don't need to judge what you wear, Mindy. You are great just the way you are."

Mindy's heart starts to race. "Thank you. You look great."

"Come on, let's go."

Mindy grabs her light jacket, putting it on.

As she closes her apartment door, she finds a key in one of her pockets.

Mark waits patiently.

Locking her apartment room, Mindy follows Mark to the elevator.

This is going to be the best night, hopefully, Mindy thought, standing inside the elevator next to the inkling.
