Title: Blood Contract
Rating: M
Pairing: Shizuo x Izaya
Prompt : HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. Vampire Izaya and Priest Shizuo story! This is an AU story!

Author's Note: Technically this is AU. Please consider this taking place several hundred years back. It also doesn't quite take place in Japan (Probably… lol) but if I changed their names to non-Japanese and took out the entire –san, -chan, the entire fanfic would be just an original story… I also understand that their names should be a saint's name etc… but again, I'm not going to change that due to fanfic sake.

so please understand why I had kept the Japanese names and the honorifics even if this doesn't really take place in Japan.

Thank you.

Disclaimer: I own none of these characters!

THIS STORY CONTAINS MALExMALE RELATIONSHIPS. You have been warned.

"Mmmm…."

He woke up to the soft nuzzling in his chest. He blinked open his eyes to see if it was a large dog hugging him but no. It was a man soundly sleeping.

He stiffened when he realized who he was sleeping next to. D-did he buy a prostitute? W-why were they both half-naked?!

He tried to get up slowly without waking up the man who was hugging him for either comfort or warmth. Most likely for warmth since it was rather cold in the dank cabin.

Sitting up a bit, he took his time to stare down at the lovely form wearing just a long shirt like a tunic. It was hiked up a bit, revealing shapely thighs that he wanted to squeeze and touch. It made his heart race to see this man sleeping so soundly next to him with such trust. W-why did his heartbeat so fast seeing him? He didn't understand it. Was he into men? Or maybe they were lovers? No matter how hard he searched his memory, he didn't remember this man at all. The only thing that made him even think that they weren't strangers… was that they seem to be wearing a matching necklace of some sort.

With nervously twitching fingers, he carefully brushed the bangs to note how soft they are between his fingers. He dared himself to caress the man's shoulder and arm. He wanted to go down further, to the sides and then hips. He doesn't. Doing this in sleep wasn't consent, no matter how tempting it was.

Looking at him with such lust was also probably sinful so he looked away. That was when he noticed something on the wall.

There were dagger scratches. Three strikes to indicate possibly three days. And next to it were the jagged writing that read, [MUST LEAVE FOREST TODAY.]

It sent shivers down his spine to read those words. He wasn't sure what it meant but it looked ominous and foreboding. As if to make them remember if they were to forget.

And he did forget. He couldn't remember who he was and he didn't know who he was with or how he got here. But those words were a warning sign that screamed at him louder than even his beating heart in this silent cabin.

They needed to leave. Now. Before something terrible happened here.

He huffed as he paused from running. In all directions were just trees after trees after trees. There were no paths. The tall trees blocked the sun making it impossible to tell which direction was west or east.

"This way, Shizu-chan!"

He turned to the voice calling out and saw a hooded figure with piercing red eyes and a grim expression. What struck him first was the simple beauty of his face despite such a serious countenance.

The man grabbed him by the wrist and started to run faster, forcing him to run with him. What were they running from? Who was chasing him?

The tangled roots tripped him and he toppled down. He was never this clumsy… was he? He couldn't remember if he was or not but he had a feeling he wasn't. He heard a rustling of the leaves as if the trees were laughing at him.

"Come, they're almost here!" The vampire grabbed his arm and pulled him up.

….Wait. A vampire?!

He stared at the man stunned to notice the long ear tips. Those ears and those eyes that looked like melted rubies were a clear signs of a vampire. Why was he running away with a vampire?

...Was he a vampire too? He reached up with his hand to touch his ear. No, he didn't have pointy ears...

"This is bad… We need to find a place to hide for the night while you rest. It looks like we should have had you rest your wounds for one more day instead of rushing things."

Was he hurt? He couldn't tell, but his body was sore and he did have a bad headache.

The vampire pulled him up again. He looked as if he spotted something and said, "this way."

He followed the vampire down a rather difficult downhill and right under a small cliff was a caved in clearing of rocks. There was tall grass to hide the entrance.

"We might have to spend the night here. You're tired aren't you?"

Now that he mentioned it, he was rather exhausted as if he had just ran for several hours, although he had no memory of doing so. Even though he couldn't see the position of the sun, he could tell the sky was getting darker.

And the trees… were growing more ominous. The darkness grew as the trees blocked the light above. The wind swayed as the trees rustled as if talking amongst themselves in whispers no one else could understand. And something about the way the trees towered over them, spreading the darkness more and more made him anxious.

The vampire quickly moved the rubbles out to make the tiny cave a bit larger enough for them to crawl inside. Once inside, it was small, rocky and dark but enough for two people to hide without being spotted. Hopefully.

He still didn't know what they were hiding from.

"Okay, you stay inside and don't move. Please don't leave okay? Try to go to sleep or something… I'll be right back."

"Where are you going?" He didn't like the idea of being alone.

"I need to backtrack and cover up our tracks. It won't take long… I'll be back soon."

He wanted to grab his hand to stop him but the vampire had already left.

The wind continued to blow harshly outside as the darkness started to settle in. He thought he could hear a faint sound of words… but he couldn't make out what they were.

Forget… Forget…

He wanted to stay awake and alert but his eyes grew heavy and soon he couldn't remember why he needed to stay awake.

Forget…

He opened his eyes to the sound of raspy breathing and gurgling. There was a weight on his shoulder and another on his chest, as if someone was pinning him down.

"Haaa… haaa…. Haaa…."

In the darkness, he grabbed hold of something like a wrist or arm that kept him pinned and flipped the person, overpowering the dark figure. The creature hissed in pain as he tried to get a hold of a weapon nearby but he had nothing. The creature then tried to lash out in the darkness but the claw couldn't pierce his skin, just small scratches. He grabbed the claw-like fingers and twisted. The creature yelped in pain.

"Who are you?!" He twisted it harder, ready to snap that thin wrist like a twig if need be.

The creature whimpered but didn't answer.

He cursed inwardly. He couldn't see in the dark. And he had no light on him.

Just then, the cloud must have briefly parted and the thin streams of moonlight filtered through the tree branches. The pale light revealed a face. A beautiful face, although in a lot of pain.

He should know him. He should remember him, but he couldn't. The name was just on the tip of his tongue and yet…

"Who are you?!" He tried again.

The man bared his fangs to reveal the sharp teeth of a vampire which almost made him drop the hand in surprise. But instead, he gripped it firmer and pinned the vampire down with his full weight.

"Like I would answer to a mere mortal." the vampire hissed. "Let go."

He glanced down at something that sparkled on the vampire's throat as it caught the moonlight. A small leather strap was on his throat and a stone was tied to it to make a makeshift necklace.

He took a chance to let go of the vampire with one hand to touch his own throat. Sure enough, a leather strap was around his neck with something round and hard like a stone tied. As soon as his hand wrapped around the stone, something flashed in his head.

"It's to help you remember," Izaya said. He had polished the two identical-looking stone he had found in the forest. "I didn't think I would be this lucky but I found them. Celty mentioned it before but I didn't think we would actually fall into this forest… Well, anyways. Here, this one is for you." He placed the necklace around himself first and then tied one onto him as well.

"If you forget, just take it out and hold it in your hand. It should trigger your memory back one by one."

Shizuo frowned.

"Izaya, isn't it? Your name is Izaya."

The vampire stopped struggling and looked up at him. Shizuo decided to bend down lower and grab the vampire's wrist. He then placed Izaya's hand on the stone of the necklace.

"S...Shizu-chan?! What…" the vampire quickly let go. "I… what happened?! I was… I was…" he seemed to try to search his memory and then quickly looked back up. "Did I hurt you?"

"No. I guess you were trying to." Shizuo finally let go of him. "But these stones… seem to work." Only partially however. Shizuo remembered their names but nothing else. He couldn't remember why they were hiding or why he was together with this pretty looking vampire currently. At least, they didn't seem to be enemies.

"Well, the magic is rather finicky and works under certain conditions according to Celty but…" he frowned deeply. "I'm sorry. I think… the Forest is…"

"Slowly affecting you as well." Shizuo nodded. "You're forgetting things." That was right… Shizuo remembered now. They were trying to leave the Forest of Forgetfulness. But they were wandering around and got lost… or maybe they didn't get lost and knew their way. He couldn't remember. Maybe he had teamed with this vampire because he knew something more. At least… he seemed to know more than him.

"I forgot… about you. I thought you were just another human… and I..."

"Were you hungry?"

"..."

In the darkness, Shizuo couldn't see any of Izaya's expression. All he heard was the sound of the vampire sitting up and what sounded like shuffling of the vampire leaning on the opposite side of the wall.

"How long have we been out here? Do you remember?"

"I think two days." the vampire replied. "No, maybe three now it's night time."

That didn't sound right. But Shizuo couldn't remember either. But he had a feeling, it was longer than a week.

"Can you make a small light?"

"I advise against it… light can travel rather far in such darkness…"

"Then we'll block the entrance with boulders." Shizuo couldn't really stand up so he crawled over and gathered the larger rocks. He shifted them around until the entrance was closed. Izaya watched in silence. He probably didn't think of that because he himself couldn't physically move the rocks.

"Now you can." Shizuo smiled to himself.

"Show off." There was a small smirk in that sarcastic tone that Shizuo could hear before Izaya muttered a small incantation spell. A tiny ball of light floated from Izaya's palm and they could finally see.

Izaya looked like a mess. He had blood on one side of his cheek and one sleeve was covered in matted dry blood.

"It's not my blood." Izaya quickly explained. "Well, not all of it anyway…"

Shizuo sat back. "Vampire blood? Or werewolves?"

Izaya nodded. "Other… vampires. But I got rid of them before they could track us to here."

"Then… can you take that off? I don't want to accidentally touch it."

"Right… I forgot about that." Izaya took off the hood first. He hesitated only momentarily before he started to strip off the top shirt.

In the light of their small cave, it was impossible to hide the bruises. Or the deep slash.

Shizuo gave him a 'look'.

"I said it's mostly not mine," Izaya muttered.

They didn't have anything to disinfect the arm with or water to clean it with. The only thing they could do was wrap it. Shizuo ripped part of his undershirt to make strips of bandages and carefully wrapped it around Izaya. It was for his own safety as well as Izaya's after all. At least that was taken care of.

That was when he finally noticed the broken wings. The sharp bones were sticking out as if he was some fallen angel. With his looks, he might as well be an angel, save for his fangs and red eyes.

"Can you… heal that? It looks painful."

"...Well it's easier to hide among humans if…"

"But we're not hiding among humans right now."

"...True. But I'll need more blood." Izaya gave Shizuo a steady gaze.

"How much do you need?"

"..."

Shizuo patted his jacket now that there was more light and he found a runed dagger to his side. He pulled it out and paused as he looked.

It… was broken.

...why was it broken again?

He tried to search his memory but came to a block. Like some wall in his memory that told him not to look beyond. Or it might break...

"Not here." Izaya stopped Shizuo, which also broke his train of thought. "The scent of your blood… travels. They'll find us."

He paused, thinking it over. "Can't you just suck on it and then we bandage it over quickly?"

"...It's a possibility but…" Izaya hesitated. "If it seeps through your bandages overnight..."

"How about if I cut my tongue and give you blood, mouth to mouth…?"

It was a bit too intimate sure, but there was no way this clever vampire didn't think about this idea. It was clear from Izaya's face that he had thought of it before.

"So you have thought of it." Shizuo accused. The vampire shifted uncomfortably under the harsh gaze.

Then the vampire started to make excuses why it won't work but Shizuo had none of it. He crossed over the gap between them, a heavy hand on Izaya's shoulder. The vampire froze, he glanced over at the hand holding him in place. Then back up at him.

With their eyes locked, he slowly took out the dagger and in one swift motion, he cut his own tongue. Although the hilt of the dagger is broken, the rune on the knife's edge still worked, allowing the cut to happen.

Again, something triggered in his brain. A wall in his mind crumbling down and the darkness from beyond slowly creeping in. He pauses only briefly as he almost remembers something. Something to do with blood. Something… awful that had happened, but can't quite remember. It was on the tip of his tongue but it kept escaping his grasp.

Shrugging it off, he grabbed Izaya's little waist and pulled him closer. Izaya still looked up at him with pleading eyes that this was a bad idea but he had none of it as he sealed their lips together first, then parted him open with his bloodied tongue.

The vampire swooned at the deep taste of the blood. His clawed fingers clung to his shoulder and the grip dug in as he swallowed. Shizuo could tell he was hungry, famished. How long had he not fed him? It feels like it had been weeks with the way he greedily lapped at his tongue and swallowed the blood as much as he could. Their tongue danced, licking against each other's soft, velvety folds, their breathing growing harsher between them, each breath shared from how close they were. Shizuo's other hand wraps around Izaya once more to pull him even closer as the vampire spreads his legs apart to sit in his lap.

"Mmmmnnngh…."

Izaya's unabandoned moan of pleasure made Shizuo swallow his own groan. His heart was pounding fast and with their chest so close, he thinks he can feel and hear Izaya's beating heart next to his. He doesn't think they can get any closer but he wants to be. His hand caressed Izaya's back, dipping into the shirt to feel the smooth skin. He glides his hand up to feel his back when his fingers come to the midsection, the skin between the protruding bones of the broken wings.

Suddenly, before Shizuo could give him a proper rub there, Izaya pulled away from his feeding with a great shudder.

"Don't." He panted hard as he tried to calm himself. "Don't… touch me there."

"?" Shizuo look at him confused at the abruptness of his action. "Why?"

Izaya seemed to struggle and Shizuo wasn't sure if it was because he didn't want to tell him or didn't know how to tell him, or he was trying to come down from his bloodlust high.

"I… I don't want anyone touching me there."

"..." That didn't answer anything but Shizuo nodded. "Fair enough." Then he looked down at the panting vampire, wanting more of that kiss, he too feeling thirsty and wanting to just, go back to that sweet high they were experiencing. "Did you need more blood?"

"...No, I… I had enough." Izaya clearly didn't. But with that, Shizuo couldn't pursue more. He swallowed hard, trying to calm himself down too, still unwilling to let him go.

"We should sleep."

"Mm."

Shizuo still didn't let him go.

"Shizuo." Izaya tried again.

"Humans get cold easily. We don't have a blanket." Shizuo replied as he leaned back so he can lay down with Izaya on top of him. He could feel their chest rumble from Izaya's laughter that sounded sweet in his ears. "You liar… you're usually too hot."

"That's when we're inside. We're outside in the elements. Just keep me warm." Shizuo kept his eyes closed and remained stubborn.

He could feel Izaya relax in his arms. "...Alright. I'll try to keep you warm." Something about his voice sounded melancholic rather than comforting to Shizuo and he couldn't quite figure out why.

The wall in his memory remained solid, the darkness kept abay.

With that, Shizuo drifted into sleep.

Author's Note: It's been awhile, hello. I'm so sorry but I did think about dropping this fanfic for awhile There's a lot of reasons why i thought of discontinuing but here I am with a new chapter. Thank you if you are still reading this. I will see if I can write more.

As for the story itself, I think I just wanted to clarify that Shizuo doesn't have specific memory but he can recall information. From what I read about memory loss, sometimes people can't recall events but can still know things like, how to ride a bicycle or know what a coffee machine looks like and know how to use it, that sort of thing.

Also, Izaya's memory of time passage in this forest isn't quite right either, fufufu... so yes, it has been way more than a week they were in the forest.

I struggled a lot with this chapter and i asked several people to re-read and beta for me as I wasn't satisfied with it, but I figured it'd just better to post it and move on instead of waiting to see if i can write the 'perfect scene from my head to paper.'

Again thank you for all the reviews. It's the reviews that keeps me coming back to write so thank you so much for still reading.
