Jewel circled the stone figures waiting for the sun to sink. The stone figure, that was being held in the arms of her father, was slender than her counterpart but held the same wolf features. Only differences were the darker shades of gray with splashes of brown and white at places. How Jewel knew this as they were in stone sleep, well, she had a hand in the smaller one's birth.
As the last sliver of sunlight disappeared cracks appeared on the stone surfaces. Once the two were free and shaking off the last of the flakes they turned to her. "You better be glad that you had enough strength left to shift into that form." Jewel stated earning a nod from the younger wolf gargoyle.
"I know, it was a close call."
"Too close for my liking. She beat you badly that left you with multiple broken bones and bleeding." Flitch stated glancing at his daughter and watched as she grew shorter once more to shift back into her human form. "That Aunt of yours will be difficult to deal with in the coming years. Why would you go to her, Tanya? We all know how much she hates our people." He questioned her with arms held up slightly in his movement of hidden concern and slight fury.
Tanya sighed not letting her eyes off the ground. "She was the only one I could think of that could help our people. We are not surviving in this modern world. How many clans have disappeared in the last hundred or so years? The Rockwell Clan, the Riverbed Clan, even the Mooncliff Clan have gone, and they were our neighbors." She turned from her father frustration coloring her face. "How are we to survive if so many of us are no longer alive?"
Flitch sighed not knowing the answer as he too knew of the dwindling clans. Even their clan had started becoming low in numbers as the older ones were passing on with few births to take their place. "So, I went to my Aunt hoping that she could help us. Help to find a way to increase the rate of cycles for our people. To increase our rate of survival."
"But you kidnapped other gargoyles, even if they were of other clans, that does not give you the right to force that upon them." Flitch stated making her shift around to look at him gentle. "What could have possibly led you to doing that?"
Tanya flinched some at the question still not able to look him in the eye. "I…I found a serum that could, on a DNA level, fix the heat cycle for us to have more. This, every seven years, is not enough. More so when there are times a mated couple weren't successful."
"Oh Tanya." Flitch said softly gazing down at her tear-filled eyes. Now he understood why she left the clan. "Is this because of your mate, Zanor? Is that why you are doing all of this?"
"Yes…" she whispered pain coloring her voice. "I don't want others to have to go through what I had to go through. Its too painful. I'm doing this for our people and all the others. I need too! You've seen it happening all over the other clans and within our own clan. Children have become rare for us and even rarer to those that survive to their first glide."
She buried her face into her fathers furred chest letting him surround her in his arms. Flitch looked to Jewel who had stay still throughout them talking with a gleam in her rosy colored eyes. "Is there no help for us?" he asked her.
Jewel hummed in thought to his question. To the clans that knew of her, they considered Jewel to be their guardian. Flitch had even called to her decades ago for help with his mate. He was not the first to have taken a human mate, but she knew it was rare for it to happen. She only regretted not being able to save the woman during the birthing process that had taken her to the next.
"What kind of help are you asking for?" She asked him, watching as Tanya's ears twitch in listening. "I have been able to do many things, but I still have a limit to what I can do. With some of the things I do needing to get permission before do so."
"You were able to change others from human to gargoyle." He replied with. "Is there no way for you to help the natural born gargoyles in having successful couplings? Many that I have seen are having trouble producing a healthy egg that survive past their hatching."
Jewel tapped her finger to her chin. "Sadly, I can not say yes or no to helping the gargoyle as a race. That decision must be taken to Nature, herself. I will see what I can do. It may come back as a yes seeing as she has already had me shift others into gargoyles." She stated with a shrug. "She has shown signs of being interested in saving the race as a whole, so I see it as more tilted to a yes than a no."
Tanya pulled away from her father to look at the fay. "How would you be able to help?"
"What would I change you mean? Not much, honestly. Maybe just the length of time between cycles like you were trying to do but I would be able to without the need for a serum and the trauma." She stated with a shrug catching the slight wince Tanya gave at that last part. "But I do have to inform you. That serum you gave to June, didn't really change anything."
At that Tanya gave the fay a confused look not understanding. "What do you mean? Her blood work showed estrogen levels had increased over the period of weeks being given the serum. It showed her in a cycle, and she gave signs of being in one."
Jewel couldn't help but grin at that and gave the wolf a pointed look. "Honestly, all that serum did was make her libido higher. Yeah, it may have shown levels having risen but they weren't the right levels for what you were wanting to rise. You only made that poor teen horny. That, my dear young one, is the problem."
Tanya groaned and let her head fall into her hand at hearing this only to shoot back up at the last part said. "What do you mean by 'problem'?"
Jewel crossed her arms with a sigh and an eye roll. "Yes, she may have showed signs of a cycle, but she wasn't in a cycle. The serum is still strong within her veins after being given a dose of it each week. It built up in her system over time like most medicines. Soon, you may need to go and explain this to her. Let June understand she is on a time limit."
"Time limit? What for? How do you know all of this?" Tanya asked taking a few steps towards the fay only to have her father gently take ahold of her upper arm to stop her.
"She still has the serum present within her that will take time for it to work through her system. Meaning, for a short time she will be in a state of unrest wanting release." She explained with a duh look. "As for how I know, I have physically changed them to what they are now. I would be able to see what is different about them and others. It is a gift I was born with that completes my powers."
"June will go looking for a release?" Tanya asked seconds later when it hit, her eyes widening in horror. "But…that would leave her tied to the one that helps her."
Jewel gave a nod to that giving the young feathered gargoyle a grim look. "Yes, it would." Jewel looked to Flitch. "She won't be able to be left alone till the serum fully leaves her system."
"I hear a 'but' in that." Tanya stated.
"But…we will also have to watch other unmated males that are around her." Jewel stated. "With her as she is…well, let's just say, she's giving off pheromones that say she's ready to any that can sniff her out. And the longer it goes on the more intense it'll become till it reaches a point she'll probably end up feral for a short time. That would be the most dangerous time her and the others."
"We need to get to the Manhattan Clan and soon it would seem." Flitch announced having heard enough to know they needed to move and soon. He turned to his daughter. "Once we have helped this June through this process, we will head back to our clan. Many have missed you there." All Tanya could do was nod.
"Let their leader know also about what may come to pass for his clan. If I am able to get the approval needed." Jewel declared before vanishing in a swirl of rose petals.
FlowerChild23 - Awww Thank you! Much love here!
Celgress - Sorry again for having taken this long but i am working to be back part-time for this story.
Hehehe...things just got interesting, did it not? Wonder how the clan will take to this. And this is really just for my curiosity...but what would you readers want to see happen? A full on lemon? Smut that doesn't lead to much thanks to intervention? or something else? Really, i'm curious like a cat about to get in trouble.
