Luna had just run off from Hermione and Ginny to where Draco was sitting and climbed into the seat next to him. "Hello," Draco said, surprised but he didn't seem to mind. "You look different." It was true.
Luna had gotten aged up to six and her hair was extremely long, just like how it was when she was a teenager, it was already at waist-length and held back by nothing whatsoever. "I'm a big girl now. I'm six." She said matter-of-factly.
"You've got fairy hair. I think I'll call you Fairy from now on." He reached out and ruffled some of it. He was surprised at how soft it was. It was just like touching golden clouds.
"Draco, can you help me?" Luna asked, sounding afraid. She had long been allowed to call him Draco. He furrowed his brows, suddenly feeling anger boil inside of him.
He didn't know why, but he had grown very close to Luna as a little girl and if anything dared to hurt her-well, she would just have to say the word and he would gladly break every bone in their body into little pieces. He abandoned the thoughts for now and looked at the little girl, giving her his full attention.
"What's wrong, Fairy?" He asked calmly. Luna looked like she might cry and anger built up inside Draco, who was already thinking of the best ways to torture someone. "I'm broken!" She said pitifully. He was caught off guard.
"What?" He asked uncertainly. Luna opened her mouth and wiggled her front tooth which looked loose and ready to fall out. "My tooth keeps moving! I think it's going to fall out! Can you fix it?" She asked. Draco almost laughed.
"Fairy, you're not broken" Luna stared at him, puzzled.
"But I am!" She protested.
"No, you're not. It's just something that happens to little girls. Their teeth fall out so their big ones come." He paused, before remembering a story muggle-borns believed in and decided to tell her.
"When your tooth falls out, give it a good brush and put it under your pillow and in the night, a fairy will come to collect it and give you a little treat in its place." He said. Luna's face lit up.
"A treat? Like a present?" She asked. Draco nodded. Luna's face creased into a frown.
"But...how would she know?" She asked. "How would she know I have a tooth and not another girl? Like, Ginny or Hermione?" She asked. "They're too big, Luna, don't worry, the tooth fairy won't give your present to either of them, I promise."
At Dinner, Luna sat with Ginny, more interested in her tooth than her food, which was rapidly going cold and Ginny had enough. "Luna-"
She was interrupted by a loud shriek, that turned every head as Luna stood up on her seat triumphantly. "I've done it!" She held a small white thing in her hands, it didn't take much for someone to figure out what it was. The hall was silent before it was broken by some clapping from the Slytherin table.
That night, Ginny and Hermione found Luna drawing a thank you card for Draco with all the colours she could find and currently drawing an enormous heart with two people, presumingly Luna and Draco inside. Ginny picked it up and smiled.
"Who's this for Luna?" She asked.
"Draco. He told me that the tooth fairy's going to come and give me a present!" Luna answered. Hermione laughed.
"She will, but not until you get your bum in that bed and sleep." She told her. Luna pouted but got up. "Okay"
The next day, Luna woke up to find a galleon under her pillow and almost deafened Ginny and Hermione with her squeals of delight. "She came! She came! Look!" Luna ran around their room.
When they were all dressed and had arrived at the Great Hall, Luna ran straight over to Draco, waving her galleon about. "Look, Draco! She came, just like you said!" She said, practically strangling him as she threw her tiny arms about his neck. Draco only just smiled.
That night, after she was sure Hermione and Ginny were safely shut up in their room, Luna snuck out of the room of requirement where Draco was waiting. She had come with him to his astronomy class(After a great deal of begging Ginny and Hermione) and had gotten very interested in the stars and as a result, Draco told her that she could come with him on a secret trip to the astronomy tower to see them at night.
After getting lost several times, Luna found Draco in the tower. "Draco!" She ran into his open arms and let him pick her up. There were already two cushions on the floor, with a perfect view of the stars.
Luna lay back on her cushion as Draco told her all about star signs, her big blue eyes wide as she listened. "What's my star sign Draco?" She asked. Draco thought for a minute. "When's your birthday?" He asked. "Thirteenth of February" She answered. Draco paused again, thinking it over, before replying.
"That makes you an Aquarius." He said.
"Ooh, pretty!" Luna smiled at him. "What's your star sign, Draco?" She asked. "I'm a Cancer." He replied.
"Ohh." Luna looked at the stars again, before getting up and running over to see the view properly. Draco ran after her.
Luna turned around. "I wish I could fly Draco. Do you think I can?" She asked. Draco nodded and her face split into a big grin.
"Can you teach me?" She asked, her big eyes shining with hope. Draco nodded again, smiling at how happy she looked at the thought of being able to fly.
"Meet me tomorrow, you need to go back, Hermione and Ginny will be missing you now." He said.
"Aww. Can't we stay a little bit longer?" She begged. Draco seriously considered saying yes, but he decided he wasn't going to make Luna lose any more sleep. She was currently just a little girl now.
"No. Come on, Little fairy, I'll take you." He held out a hand for her and she took it somewhat reluctantly and he led her back to the Room of Requirement and said goodnight before leaving her.
Luna walked in, to find that Hermione and Ginny hadn't even noticed she was missing at all and she could hear soft snores from their room. She snuck into her room, lit up softly by her nightlight and crawled into her little bed and snatched a stuffed toy for her cuddle.
She lay there, for a moment, thinking of the lovely time she had with Draco before she put her thumb into her mouth and drifted off to sleep.
She woke up early, much earlier than Hermione and Ginny and went outside where Draco was waiting. "Hi Fairy, are you ready for your first flying lesson?" He asked.
"Uh-huh!" Luna nodded before jumping up and down. Draco smiled, before taking her down to the Quidditch fields. It was a chilly morning and Luna shivered, but she didn't care.
Draco led her inside the Slytherin changing rooms and found her a uniform, shrinking it down until it fit her like a glove and he managed to tie her hair back in an incredibly long and messy ponytail. He sat her down on a bench and gave her a muggle Rubix cube to play with, before disappearing into a changing cubicle to change himself.
Luna fiddled with the cube, twisting and turning it before got bored of it and arranged it into patterns. Draco came out. "Look Draco! It looks pretty now!" Draco chuckled.
"Come on, I'll show you how to fly now." Luna's eyes lit up again and she squealed in delight.
"Shh. We don't want to wake anyone up!" He said, putting a finger to his lips. Luna nodded, as he led her outside to the broom shed. He got out a broom for her and put it on the ground in front of her.
"Okay, put your hand over it and say 'Up', okay?" Draco instructed. Luna nodded.
"Up!" She said and the broom sprang up into her tiny hand. "Now what Draco?" She asked.
"Now you sit on it and kick off the ground and- Luna, not yet!" But it was too late, Luna had already kicked off of the ground with a squeal.
He watched in horror as she soared high across the sky, much too high for a six-year-old and as she lost her balance with a scream. She managed to grab on to the broom by her hands, but the fall was too high, terrifyingly high and Luna's grip couldn't last for long. "Draco, help me!" Luna sobbed. "I'm scared!"
That was when she lost her grip and fell with a blood-curdling scream.
