Good evening All, a little bit more of the story. Apologies for the delay. Just rewatching the Last Ship so will hopefully get another chapters written this week. Thank you for continuing to read. Enjoy.

Danny waited for Kara ouside of the hotel, the engine idling, he hoped she wouldn't be long andconsidered turning it off. He sighed, touched the house key in his jacket pocket. Tonight was the night, he was a little nervous about giving Kara the house. He wanted tonight to go well, have a good catch up, talk about Norfolk, show her the house. He'd spent the afternoon seting up the house for her. Whilst the majority of Kara's stuff would come with her mum, Danny had managed to pack a kit bag with some bits and pieces for her. Things he thought she'd like. He'd found a crib in Jack's garage, dismantled hidden awy at the back. He'd cleaned it up and put it the master bedroom. It was a beautiful house and in his head Danny had mmoved beyond the shit they were in right now to them being a happy family, experiencing good times there. Barbeques with their friends and birthday parties for their children. Children, more than one – if Kara wanted more. He saw her leave the building and he rushed out of the car to open the passenger side door for her. She smiled at him, almost surprised at his chivalry.

"Thank you," she said, sliding in. He got back into the dirver's side and started to pull away once she'd fastened her seat belt. The evening was sill light and Danny was glad, it meant she'd be able to see the garden. Kara looked out,

"Where are going? Are we going so far we have to drive?"" when Danny had spoken to her earlier about meeting tonight se just assumed they'd sit in thehotel restaurant, so his was a pleasant surprise.

"I have a surprise for you." He told her and she caught a twinkle in his eye, followed by him clearing his throat nervously. Kara had no idea what it all meant.

"I want to put this blindfold on though," he handed her an eye mask with the hotel name embroidered on the front.

"Ok." She said slowly, taking it and shooting him a sideways glance.

"It's a good surprise," he tassured her and he flashed her the grin she found so attractive. She couldn't help but smile back.

"Ok," she said again, this time more carefree. She allowed herself to feel a bit excited and pulled the mask on.

It wasn't long, only a few minutes by Kara's estimate, before the vehicle stopped. She felt the car turn and stop, Danny applied the handbrake and she sat in that nervous-excited state, waiting to see what was so special. She genuinely had no idea what it was. She heard Danny open the car and get out. She felt to undo her seat belt and when he didn't appear immediately and she wondered where he had gone. She heard the car door pop open and with his guidance he helped her out of the car. He guided her gently by the arm, not too much but enough , he pulled her elbow slightly, stopping her.

"There's a step infront of you, step up." He'd moved in front of her and helped her. She felt out with her hand and immediately found a wall to her left. It felt smooth, Danny pulled her further.

"Just a few more steps," he told her, she could feel him breathing, comforted knowing her was close by. And then he halted her,

"Ok," he said almost hesootantly, as if re-evaluating his idea. "You can take off the mask."

Kara lifted the mask, no idea what to expect. She was aware her breathing had become shallow. Peeking out from under the half lifted mask she found herself in a front room. Softly lit with candles, not seeing anything to hide from she fully took off the mask. The front room was beautiful, the soft furnishing were clean and subtle. The room airy even at dusk when lit only by a few candles.

"Where are we, Danny?" she asked, really confused.

"Home," he told her simply."

"What?" she asked him, really confused.

"Home, this is your home. You wanted a house and, surprise, I got you a house."

She was speechless and had to take a second. She scratched her face and sarted to soeak again then stopped. Trying again.

"Are we squatters?" she had no idea where Danny had managed to get such a nnice house from. Had he just decided on this one or had it been allocated. As far as she knew they hadn't done any housing allocation yet.

"No, we are definitely not squatters" he told her with a smile. "Do you ike it?" he asked his eyes twinkling. She could tell he reallywanted her to and shedid but he still hadn't answered the obvious questions that she hadn't asked.

"Yes but where did you get a house from?" she said with a smile. "It's beautiful."

He pulled her onto the couch with him and he proceeded.

"Jack, it used to belong to Jack," he said quickly, "It's all above board. Capt Chandler knows, Jack wanted us… you, to have a have a house. " he said earnestly. "I'll give you the tour." He excitedly stood up and grabbed her hand. Like a small child desperate to show off a new toy, he pulled her towards the stairs. AS the ascended Kara gasped. On the wall instead of Jack's family photos there was a framed photo from ara's Naval graduation. It was from her flat, above it a Nathan James crest hung. He'd not only got her house but he'd tried to make it a home.

"Danny, this is amazing." She wasn't sure anyone had ever done anything this nice for her before. She rubbed her stomach, maybe they wold be ok afterall. She followed im in a daze around the upstairs of the house. He kept opening doors and she just followed him, smiling and nodding. Eventually he came to a door,

"So I tought this could be your room, with the baby," he bit his lip and opened the door. He led her into what was master bedroom. "It's en-suite," she heard him say but she just stood and surveyed the room infront f her. A king sized bed with a crib at the end.

"I mean, you might not want the baby in the room with you. I was reading, some wwomen prefer it but if you want we can make one of the smaller rooms a nursery….." she hard him tril off and look at her for a response.

"It's amazing, Danny." She managed to say, blown away by it. She noted a photo of her and her mum on the dresser. A bottle of her favourite perfume next to it. On the bed was a pile of her clothes. Hung up on the wardrobe door was a uniform maternity dress, complete with epaulettes of her new rank.

"When did you do all this?" she asked him. He'd only been back 24 hours, she assumed he'd have been busy today.

"I only had one meeting this morning, the rest of the day was mine." He told her. As soon as he mentioned it, Kara felt herself stiffen. They both knew the meeting had been with the President, Capt Chandler and Adaline. It was the "and Adaline" part that niggled at Kara. She tried to push it away, she wasn't the jealous type, corrention, she had never been the jealous type but the way things were right now… Kara tried to push the feeling down. It wasn't healthy and it also wasn't good for her blood pressure to worry about it. Suddenly a little nudge from below her waistline brought her back into the room. She pressed her hand to her stomach.

"The baby approves of being in the same room as it's parents." She told her laughing and Danny smiled, his eyes on her stomach and she thought back to the previous evening when he'd pulled his hand back.

"You can feel if you want." She invited him, infact she wanted him to feel their baby. She pulled his outstretching hand to where the baby had kicked moments earlier and he only had to wait a moment before it kicked again. She smile to himself, still in awe of this beautiful thing they had accidently created.

"I think he does approve. He's active." He said , laughing, surprised at feeling the baby moving so much.

"He's getting more active. Takes after his father." She told him. She realised he'd never acknowledged her comment about them staying in the room together but he'd also not shown her where he was going to sleep. IT made her feel a bit awkward, afterall nothing had really changed, they hadn't spoken about the issues they argued over in the first place.

"Will you be staying in here as well?" she cringed hearing herself ask the question and he immediately removed his hand from her stomach. She felt a rush of cool hit where his warm hand had been. He looked at her.

"No, I'll stay in the room next door, it's a bit smaller but I can always move the baby in with me if you need to sleep. I'm more than happy to get up in the night."

"Ok," she said, she had to accept her was reepcting the fact that they'd agreed to take it slow and he hadn't just assumed. Whilst it made her alittle sad it didn't piss her off like an assumption of them beng in the same room would have done. At least he still sounded like he wanted to be involved so they hadn't become irrepairable, in fact his effort today showed the complete opposite, he was more committed than ever. She considered briefly telling him not to be silly and they would be fine, they'd raise the baby as a functional couple but she couldn't promise something she knew he'd want but she wans't sure she'd easily be able to give.

"I even did a room for your mum. She'll be here in a couple of weeks, I thought you might want her with you. A bit of company after work." She was touched by his gesture but was confused as as far ash she was aware the ship wasn't going anywhere soon unless Danny had receieved other tasking.

"Are you going away?" she asked him. Maybe he'd been given tasking to do with Adaline, afterall it had been a long meeting that morning and he'd not said what it was about.

"No." he looked at her questioningly.

"Oh, it just sounded like you weren't going to be here." she said, "like you'd been tasked or something…" she trailed off after probing for information.

"No. I just thought we were taking it slowly. I didn't want to assume."

"But you said you want to be involved with the baby."

"More than anything, Kara. I can't imagine not being involved." He said as if she'd gone daft, "There was never any question as to my committmdent to the baby."

"Unless you have to go away." She said quietly.

"And that's why I want your mum to live here. " Danny felt the conversation slipping again. Why did it always end up like this?

"Let's not not argue." He said, trying to bring back the hope from the start of the evening.

"I'm not arguing, Danny." She protested. "So when would you move in? When are you expecting me to start living here? Am I even safe?"

"Kara, I wouldn intentionally put you in harms way. Don't forget you stayed on a ship at risk of being blown to do your job, you chose that and I kept quiet. I respected your decision making. You could have gone ashore, I could have asked you to go ashore and I didn't."

"They couldn't do it without me Danny. That's why I stayed." She snapped.

"You were also willing to travel to Norfolk and you question if you're safe here?" he challenged her again, wounded by the fact she would even think he'd put her in harms way considering some of the risks she'd knowingly taken since finding out she was pregnant.

Kara had to breath, this was not worth getting upset about. She reminded herself that she had to stay calm, she thought about her blood pressure again. Thinking about it almost stressed her out even more.

"You're right. Let's not argue. You arranged this beautiful surprise and I'm truly touched by it." She told him sincerely and he smiled back. "When do you think you'd move in?" Danny sat on the bed and half shrugged.

"Well, I was planning on staying on the ship until maybe a couple of weeks before your due date. Give you some time to settle in, keeps me out of your hair and from under your feet." He said with a wry smile. "It is safe round here Kara. There's regular patrols, they're looking at using this street to house people working for the new government. The house security is good. You'll be safe but if you need me to be here then I can make arrangements to move in earlier." He offered.

Kara laughed dimissively, trying to make up for her neediness. "No, of course not. I'll be fine. I'll probably move in in a couple of days, tomorrow even. Get ready for my mom getting here." Afterall she should get used to it. Danny wasn't going to be around all the time, especially if he stayed with the ship.

"And even though we drove tonight, you are like a 15 minute walk from work. It's not far, all main roads as well. There's a bike in the garage."

"I'm not sure how much longer I'd fit n a bike without sending myself off balance." Kara laughed.

"You're beautiful," Dann half blurted out and Kara blushed.

"Thank you and thank you for this." She motioned around the room. "It really is a great gift and I think it will be an amazing home to raise our child. Together." She told him and he smiled. It wasn't much but they'd avoided what could have been a huge argument, maybe they were learning.

"Here," he held out his hand, "le me finish showing you around and then Ill drop you back at the hotel."

She took his hand and allowed him to lead her out of the bedroom to finish the tour.
