"Garnet! You're never going to guess who we just saw boarding the train?" George sat down beside her in the compartment.

"Who?" she raised a brow as Fred sat across from them.

"Harry Potter." he said.

Garnet's eyes went wide, "No way!" she said, "Where?!"

Fred smirked, "He's in a car with Ron, six down."

Garnet looked at both boys, then got up and went to see for herself.

She peeked inside the car, careful to not let Harry Potter see her gawking. Smiling she nodded to herself. Then Ron saw her and smiled, waving at her.

Mentally smacking herself, she opened the door to greet Ron.

"Hello Ron, how was the rest of Summer Holiday for you?" she asked, smiling.

"Bloody Hell, Fred and George almost blew up Scabbers with a firecracker." Ron shook his head, petting his scruffy rat.

"Awe, I would have beat them if they did that," she gave him a knowing look. "Hello, I'm Garnet Prince, you a first year?" she extended her hand to Harry.

"Yes, I'm Harry, Harry Potter." he paused for the typical comments of 'The Harry Potter?' that generally followed, but was pleasantly surprised when she just nodded.

"Nice to meet you." She smiled at him. Poor kid was in for a lot of gawking in the next year. "Have a good ride, talk to you both later, I'm sure."

"Bye Garnet!" Ron called as she closed the door. She started to walk away when she heard Ron say to Harry, "She's Fred and George, the twins, best friend. She's the only decent Slytherin there's been at Hogwarts in a long time."

Garnet smiled to herself. She headed back to the car the Twins were waiting for her. She was reaching for the handle when, everything went black.

"Geezus, Fred, what is going on with her?" George was standing in front of Garnet, watching as she stared off into space, blinking her eyes constantly.

"I don't know, can you pull her in the car so no one sees her?" he suggested.

"Garnet? Love? Can you hear me?" George touched her cheek.

Garnet's eyes came into focus on George's worried face, and took a startled step back.

"How did you appear right there?" she said.

"What do you mean?! You've been standing there almost five minutes!" Fred said.

"Oh," she rubbed her forehead and George pulled her into the car.

"This isn't because of the crash while you were visiting is it?" George looked worried.

Garnet shook her head, "No no, I'm fine, really, I just spaced out I guess."

Fred and George gave questioning looks, like they didn't really believe her.

George pulled her in for a hug, "You scared me."

"I'm sorry Georgie," she squeezed him back. Garnet smelled his jumper. She loved the way he smelled. "Sorry Freddie." She added quickly as they let go of each other.

Fred just nodded.

The rest of the ride went fairly uneventful, except for some kid named Neville losing his toad.

Garnet had to sit with her House at the Start of Term Feast. Adrian Pucey sat next to her. Garnet held no grudge against him. He didn't know what Flint had planned to do on Valentine's Day until it was too late. He was a decent guy that Garnet could consider a friend.

"So you and your mum traveled around a bit, you say?" Adrian smiled, "Where'd you go?"

"We went for a weekend in Scotland, because my dad was writing my mum while working there and kept telling her how much I'd love it." Garnet said.

George sat at the Gryffindor table and watched them, sitting beside his brother, clenching and unclenching his hands.

"Calm down George." Fred nudged him. "They're just talking. At least she has someone in Slytherin to talk to right now. You don't want her to go another year without friends in her House, do you?"

George looked down. "I guess not." he mumbled.

The Sorting Ceremony began, and Garnet watched as the First Years were sorted. Some blonde kid with a cocky smirk got put in Slytherin, as well as a few other kids.

Harry Potter was up. The Hat seemed to be taking forever to decide on him.

"Wouldn't it be brilliant if he was in Slytherin?" Adrian murmured.

When the hat yelled "Gryffindor!" Adrian deflated a bit. Garnet just giggled.

Ron was finally up and was placed in Gryffindor.

All the Weasley's were clapping at the Gryffindor table, and Garnet joined in.

As dinner was ending, Garnet got up from her seat.

"Off to sit with the Twins?" Adrian smiled at her. He didn't judge her for having Gryffindor friends, and for that she was grateful.

"Yep," she grinned.

"Well don't forget, they want us to gather in the Common Room before bed to introduce ourselves to the new Slytherin.

Garnet nodded and waved as she walked over to her friends.

Lee scoot over so Garnet could sit down. She sat across from George and Fred.

"I feel bad for you, Garnet," Ron sighed. "You've got Malfoy in your House."

"Malfoy?" she knew the name, she had heard it a few times. "Which once is he?"

Ron nodded Draco's direction, "He's the blonde with the look on his face like something smells horrid."

Garnet laughed. "Oh lovely." She reached for a tart at the same time George did. As their hands touched, Garnet quickly pulled her hand back and looked at him. "Sorry George, go ahead."

"No, you can have it." the tips of George's ears got as red as his hair.

"It's okay, I really shouldn't eat it anyways." Garnet sat back in her seat.

"Why's that?" Fred finished off some pudding.

Garnet shook her head, "Nevermind."

Just then Dumbledore announced the end of Dinner and dismissed everyone to their dorms.

Garnet looked up at the Teacher's table and made eye contact with Snape. She smiled and nodded. Snape nodded back.

"Going to eat breakfast with us in the morning?" George asked as they walked towards the dungeons.

"Of course," Garnet smiled at him. "I'll see you both then." She waved as she joined her House to head for the Common Rooms.

As the Slytherin gathered in the Common Room, Garnet found Adrian and joined him in the corner.

"Alright," the Slytherin Head Boy called attention. "We've got several new Slytherin this year. As I call your name please come stand up here. Millicent Bulstrode, Vincent Crabbe, Tracey Davis, Gregory Goyle, Daphne Greengrass, Draco Malfoy, Theordore Nott, Pansy Parkinson, Sophie Roper, and Blaise Zabini."

The upperclassmen all clapped.

Garnet watched Draco with his smug look on his face. She had a feeling she wouldn't get along with him very well. Parkinson, Goyle and Crabbe seemed to gravitate towards him. Garnet rolled her eyes.

Once the House meeting was over, Garnet watched as Flint made a straight shot to Malfoy and his friends.

Just what Garnet needed, more Slytherin to torment her. She shook her head and introduced herself to Millicent, Sophie and Daphne, and told them if they had any questions to just let her know, she'd help them best she could. She left the girls with smiles on their faces.

Garnet was determined to prove that not all Slytherin are arrogant, rude arses.
