Here we are at Chapter 106. To set things straight for some people, yes there will be a drunk girls chapter in volume 7, but as to whether or not Yukari will be in volume 7, I haven't decided yet. Also, for the lemon chapter between Yang and Porphyrius, I will write it AFTER I get this story caught up with the show. Anyway things are heating up as we get closer to the end of Volume 6 for the story. Let's see what happens next. I do not own RWBY. They belong to Roosterteeth. I only own my OCs. Here's chapter 106. Enjoy.
Chapter 106: The Lady in the shoe
Weiss and Reaper's airship fly by as Cordovin and her giant mech follow them along the coast.
"You have got to be kidding me?! You want to fight that behemoth?" Reaper questions Ruby like she lost it.
"Hey, we've fought and beaten giant monsters before. This is just a little old lady," Ruby says.
"Yeah, a little old lady with a giant robot that could blast us all into dust," Lloyd deadpans.
"If we don't deal with her now, then we'll never get to Atlas. We have no choice. Besides, I've been wanting to smack her around a little from what you guys told me about her," Khazhak says, drawing his grandfather's sword.
"Remember, you can't use your semblance with your grandfather's sword. It won't withstand the power of it," Bahamut reminds him.
"Then I'll improvise," Khazhak replies.
"You little fools thought you could sneak your way into Atlas? Well, let's see how your resolve holds out against the might of the Atlas military," Cordovin says as she works the controls.
Her robot takes aim with its cannon, a portion of it coming out to show missile launchers, and fires one missile at the airship. However, the missile gets shot down, much to her surprise, by Ruby and her sniper-scythe. Cordovin growls in anger and changes tactics, charging up her cannon and aiming it at the group.
"Dive!" Weiss tells Maria as they see this and she steers the airship towards them.
The airship gets close and Weiss and Reaper hop off of it.
"Lloyd!" Khazhak yells.
"Got it!" Lloyd replies and encases his right fist in steel.
He smashes his fist into the ground, sending up steel spikes to form a barricade. Weiss adds to this by using her rapier to create two additional layers of rock and ice to block the attack just in time.
"Nice save," Voshkie'ahk says.
"This isn't getting us anywhere. We need to take that thing down without it taking out our only ride out of here," Khazhak notes.
"Then let's keep her focus on several targets instead of one," Jaune says.
"You mean us, don't you?" Nora deadpans.
"Look at that thing. It's not designed for dealing with small enemies. It's was probably made to deal with giant Grimm that come in from deep waters. We can turn our size into an advantage. We just have to be smart about it," Jaune explains.
"Sounds good to me," Lloyd notes.
Ruby contact Maria, who's still in the ship, "Maria, can you keep the ship out of harm's way?" she asks.
"They can take my driver's license, but I won't let them take this ship!" Maria replies.
"Very reassuring," Ren says dryly.
"I'll go with her. I can be more useful in the air and try and spot a weakness with her robot," Oscar says.
"You're not the only one who knows how to catch a bird's eye view," Qrow adds.
"Lloyd and I can do some damage, but we need to get close to her in order to do it. Reaper, think you can get close enough?" Khazhak asks.
Reaper chuckles, "Heh-heh, oh I'll do more than that," he replies, accepting the challenge.
"The rest of us will focus on long-range fire from here, keep her from focusing on any of you guys for too long," Voshkie'ahk adds.
"This should be interesting," Tiamat notes.
Weiss looks to Ruby, "You said you needed me on the ground?" she asks.
"Not... exactly," Ruby shows a nervous smile.
From her mech, Cordovin watches and waits for them to make another move. She doesn't have to wait long as the group all suddenly scatter, with Team JNR and Voshkie'ahk going one way, the rest going another in the airship, and Ruby flies straight up with Qrow in his crow form, firing off a shot that hits the glass of her cockpit. Cordovin growls and fires off a swarm of missiles at Ruby. Ruby uses her semblance to hop from missile to missile before dropping to the water, where Weis creates a large ice ramp, followed by several ice pads across the water towards the robot. Cordvin turns her attention towards them, but that leaves her exposed when Reaper flies in on one of his large skull phantoms, carrying Khazhak and Lloyd with him. When they get close, Lloyd and Khazhak jump off. Khazhak lands on top, while Lloyd smashes his steel fist into the rear left knee of the robot, causing it to buckle a bit. Her cockpit shakes and then Cordovin sees Khazhak in front of her, with his sword jammed into the armor above the glass window. He smirks at her, getting her riled up. She tries to grab him with her machine's left hand, but he jumps back up to avoid it. Khazhak then jumps onto the left arm, takes a few swings with his grandfather's sword at its exposed joints. Cordovin's monitors show that small sections of her machine are taking damage, though the shielding system protects it from taking more damage. Just as she gets ready to stop them, a few grenade shots hit her hull, along with a few fire Dust cards, staggering her machine. She looks to the cliffs, seeing Team JNR and Voshkie'ahk ad the culprits.
"That's it. Just keep her moving from one enemy to the other. Keep her off balance," Voshkie'ahk says.
"And you said it wasn't beach season," Nora notes to Ren.
They run behind some large rocks and Voshkie'ahk throws a few more fire Dust cards at Cordovin. However, she raises her left hand and activates a shield that blocks the attack.
Cordovin laughs, "Hahaha, don't tell me you forgot that Atlas was the father of hard-light Dust? Allow me to show you mongrels of less advanced kingdoms the difference in our abilities with Dust," she taunts them and raises her cannon.
It charges up and fires some earth shots at the cliffs, causing rock spikes to shoot up whenever they hit. The group on the ground retreat from the attack and take cover.
"We need to do something. She's activated that thing's shields!" Jaune yells.
"Yeah, I saw that. We need to find whatever's powering those shields and take it out," Oscar says from the airship.
"Hey, I bet whatever's powering it is on its back. I've seen that a lot in video games," Lloyd notes as he keeps his claws lodged into its back.
"Now's not really the time to be reminiscing of your video games, Lloyd!" Reaper replies as he flies around the mech, slashing at its legs with his twin-scythe.
"Well, maybe he's got a- look out!" Ruby yells as she and Weiss move before Cordovin can crush them under her robot's giant foot.
Qrow and Reaper fly in from the rear, with Reaper sending out a few skull phantoms to distract Cordovin while Reaper and Qrow ready their scythes. They jump, spinning their scythes around and then fall down, stabbing their scythe blades into the back of the mech.
The impact shakes the cockpit, "Ugh, what was that?!" Cordovin looks around.
Reaper jumps up with Qrow as they land on the top of the back of the machine. Reaper links up with Khazhak, and they start slicing their weapons across the top of the machine.
"Even though that shield's up, it can't protect her from up close and personal attacks," Khazhak notes as they dig their blades into the armor.
Below on the back of the left leg, Lloyd uses his strength and claws to rip open a small hole in the leg, and starts firing away with his gauntlets. However, he looks to see Cordovin reach around to grab him, forcing him to jump off and land on one of the ice pads that Weiss made. Qrow makes another small hole on top with his scythe before turning it back into its blade form.
"Up close and personal, huh. Then we'll just have to keep at it until we can take down its shields," Qrow notes and starts firing away.
However, the mech reaches around to grab them again, forcing Qrow to shift into his bird form, while Reaper creates a skull phantom for him and Khazhak to jump on, and they all fly back from her reach.
"That's easier said than done!" Ren notes.
Voshkie'ahk throws a few lightning Dust cards at her, but Cordovin blocks them with her shields again.
"Lloyd, can you send some spikes into its legs?" Ruby asks.
"Not unless you want me to go deep-sea diving here. There's no ground for me to stand on," Lloyd replies.
"Weiss!" Ruby turns to her partner.
"On it!" Weiss replies and stabs her rapier into the water, sending out a surge of ice spikes that collide with the mech's right leg, staggering it off balance.
Meanwhile, Oscar looks on from the airship, "Wait, that's it, when she..." he trails off, staring at the cannon until it aims its missile launcher at them. "Guys, look out!" he yells.
Cordovin fires on Ruby, Weiss, and Lloyd, creating a massive explosion of water. However, the three emerge from the water, unscathed, thanks to Weiss' Queen Lancer summon. Cordovin growls as she tries to follow them, but Lloyd jumps into the air.
"Incoming!" Lloyd smirks, his right fist encased in steel as he smashes it onto the body of the mech with such force, that it causes the machine to crash against the cliffs with a big dent in its side.
Now, those on the ground have their opening, "Now! Go!" Jaune yells.
Team JNR and Voshkie'ahk rush the machine as Cordovin screams in rage. Ren and Voshkie'ahk run along the left arm of the mech, with Ren stabbing his pistols' blades into the armor, while Voshkie'ahk uses her semblance to weaken the armor on one part of it, and then breaks it open with an ice Dust card stabbed into it, revealing the insides. She then throws a few lightning Dust cards, dealing extra damage to the left arm. Nora and Jaune swing away with their weapons at its body. However, it finally stands up and gets out of their reach, forcing Voshkie'ahk to jump off of it while Ren and Lloyd stay on thanks to their weapons. Lloyd moves and ends up hanging by his claws in front of Cordovin's cockpit. He sticks his tongue out at her, making her growl.
"Arrgh! Get off of me!" Cordovin yells and tries to grab Lloyd with her robot's hand.
Lloyd jumps off just in time, and luckily Reaper and Khazhak catch him before he hits the water.
"You are one crazy son of a gun, you know that!" Reaper yells.
"Yeah, but you know you love me for it!" Lloyd replies with a big smile.
Reaper turns back, "That's a matter of opinion," he mutters.
They fly around the machine, while Ren climbs along the back of the mech with his blades, until he stops next to a large panel on its back. He tries to open it up with one of his pistols. Suddenly, the mech shakes, causing him to fall off, only to be caught by Qrow, while the panel comes off completely.
"I gotcha. What did you find?" Qrow asks as he pulls him up. They both look to see the generator for the shields. "Well, this looks important," he jokes, and then they fire away with their weapons, destroying the mech's shields and leaving it more vulnerable.
"No, no, no! How could such insects do this to my machine!" Cordovin yells.
With the shield down, Voshkie'ahk and Nora let her have it with grenades and Dust cards, forcing her to use her machine's left arm to block the shots.
"You get back here with MY MAN!" Nora yells, firing off more grenades.
Ruby and Weiss fly in on her summon to the back of the machine where Qrow and Ren are.
"Jump on!" Weiss yells, and they do so and fly away.
"I've had enough of you ingrates!" Cordovin yells and swings her left hand around at Nora and Voshkie'ahk.
Jaune races to them and uses his shield and aura to protect them, but the impact sends them all flying into some rocks, heavily damaging their auras. The others on Weiss' summon look on, not noticing Cordovin aiming her cannon at them until it's too late. She fires, taking out the summon and sending all but Ruby crashing onto the cliffs, while she barely manages to hang onto the cliff side by stabbing her scythe blade into it, holding on for dear life.
"Ruby!" Khazhak yells.
Cordovin then turns her attention to them and fires more missiles, with a few exploding on impact and sending all three members of Team KEPL crashing onto the cliffs as well.
"This is what happens when you think you know better than those rightfully in charge," Cordovin says.
Oscar sees the trouble going on and runs to the cockpit, "We've got to do something!" he tells Maria.
Maria narrows her eyes and flicks a few switches before turning the airship around towards Cordovin. She flies around and fires off a missile, only for Cordovin's mech to suddenly catch it in its left hand.
"Calavera!" Cordovin seethes, and then turns her attention to the airship.
She throws the missile, and it explodes right in front of the airship, causing it to lose control.
…
Meanwhile, Porphyrius keeps running through the forest, seeing the relay tower up ahead.
"Where are you guys?" Porphyrius mutters.
He looks around, but finds no sign of Blake or Yang.
In another part of the forest, Blake continues her duel with Adam. Their blades clash repeatedly as Adam pushes Blake back. Blake jumps back when he makes another swing, backflipping onto her feet, only for Adam to be right back on her. This continues on, with Blake trying to get some distance between them, only for Adam to get right back in her face. Blake looks back for a second after their blades clash again, and then Adam makes another slash at her, only for Blake to use her semblance to evade it. He attacks again, and she parries to of his strikes before leaping away from him, while Adam gives chase. Blake switches her katana into its chain-scythe form, throwing it at one tree to swing herself away from Adam before his blade can touch her. She jumps off from tree to tree, while Adam runs her down.
"Can you do anything besides run? Or do you need that accursed 'thing' to fight your battles for you?" Adam taunts her.
Blake continues running, but Adam fires her sword from its sheathe, the pommel of the blade hitting her chain-scythe when she throws it. She grabs a tree branch and swings back around towards Adam, who catches his sword and jumps at her. When they get close, he makes a slash that looks like it connects, but it only slices her coat off. Blake double-kicks him to the ground, and fires her pistol as soon as she lands on the ground. A few rounds hit true, but the rest, he deflects with his blade. They stare each other down for a few moments before Blake jumps away again and Adam chases her. They end up on a rocky bridge in front of a large waterfall outside of the forest. Adam attacks first, but Blake blocks it. He makes another strike, only for Blake to dodge it with her semblance, followed by spinning around another strike from him. He aims his sheathe gun at her point-blank and fires, but only hits another shadow clone as Blake appears behind him.
Blake charges at him, but Adam thrusts his sword at her. However, Blake catches it in her blade's sheathe, kicks him back, and jumps and twirls away from him with his sword. Adam growls before firing his sheathe gun at her again. Blake twirls in the air as she gets near him, using her semblance to dodge a few of his bullets as she makes a few attacks on him. Adam steps back and blocks with his sheathe in between shots. When Blake lands behind him, Adam charges her and grabs her by the arms.
"I wouldn't have to be doing this if you had just stayed by my side and behaved!" Adam yells, grabbing his sword and swinging it wide to force Blake to lose her sheathe. He then nails her in the face with the pommel of his sword, making her roll along the ground. "But you're selfish!" he rages and sheathes his sword, jumping into the air and pulling it out to strike her down again. Blake dodges it, but gets knocked back to the ground by a wide swing of his sword. "You're a coward!" he yells and hits her again with his sword, making her roll further back. "And you choose to fight alongside people and monstrosities that should either serve us, or shouldn't even exist!" he yells again.
"The only monster here... is you," Blake defiantly retorts.
Adam stands over her and swings his sword, his hair and blade glowing red. Blake tries to block with her katana, but Adam's sword cleaves it in two, the shattered blade falling away from Blake.
Adam takes off the cloth over his eyes, causing Blake to look away for a moment before staring back at him. Seeing the brand mark on his face across his left eye, making it blind.
"People hurt me long ago. All sorts of people in all sorts of ways. But no one hurt me quite like you. You didn't leave scars... You just left me alone. You left me alone, and chose to fight for the same people that gave me those scars. You chose to fight with monsters, and left me alone," Adam says. Blake's cat ears twitch when she hears something approaching. "So tell me, Blake. How does it feel to be alone?" he taunts her as he raises his sword.
He screams as he shoves the sword into her torso, only for her to be another shadow clone, shocking him as it disappears. He looks back to see Blake picking up her sheathe sword.
"I'm not alone," Blake says.
Suddenly, Yang appears on her bike, propelling it towards Adam in mid-air. The bike nails him, sending him to the ground while the bike falls into the river below. Yang lands in front of Blake and readies her weapons.
"You-," Adam begins, only to barely block a shot from Yang's gauntlet.
"Yang-," Blake says, only to fall onto one knee, hurt from the battle.
"It's okay. Take this chance to catch your breath for a moment. I can hold him off for a while," Yang says, facing Adam.
"She's right Blake, it's okay. We have unfinished business," Adam says, readying his blade.
"You're gonna pay for what you did. For what you did to me at Beacon. For always hounding Blake and never leaving her alone, and for calling my boyfriend an abomination," Yang replies.
Adam sheathes his sword and lunges at Yang. He makes a swing, but she ducks under it, followed by punching away another strike. He makes a few more strikes, this time with shadow clones of his own from his stored power. Yang blocks and dodges them, but gets pushed back. She readies her weapons. Adam makes a slash wave at her, and then throws his blade, spinning in the air as she blocks the attacks. Yang punches it to the ground, but he grabs it and makes another swing. Yang backflips away, but Adam sheathes his sword again and makes three quick unsheathing strikes, forcing Yang back again. Yang goes in on the offensive this time and runs at him. He makes another swing, but she weaves under it and lands a left hook, followed by two more punches to the chest, and then an uppercut and ending with a kick to his chest in mid-air. Adam makes another strike, but Yang grabs it and makes to backhand strikes to his chest, followed by a knee strike and then a punch to his face. Adam makes two more strike, but Yang evades them and gets another hit in. Adam pulls his blade back to block a series of punches from Yang. She pushes Adam back, firing her weapons behind her to propel her at him, throwing a roundhouse kick that knocks his blade to the side, and hits his skull with a spin kick, forcing him back. Yang loads her weapons and fires several shots at him. Adam blocks the with his sword, and hen attacks with more shadows again, circling Yang. Yang looks up to see the real Adam jump into the air, smashing his sword on the ground, releasing a wave of red energy at her. She blocks with her arms, but gets pushed back a bit.
"His semblance is like yours. He absorbs energy through his sword, stores it up, and then sends it back when he's ready," Blake explains.
"He gets to dish out damage without having to feel it... That's just cheap," Yang notes.
Yang fires her weapons behind her, sending her flying at Adam. Adam unsheathes his sword for a quick slash, but she fires her left gauntlet to propel her around the attack, firing again to spin her around a second strike and making a roundhouse kick to his face. She fires again, making her land behind him, and then away from him when he tries to attack again. She propels herself towards him again. He fires his sheathe gun, but misses and Yang nails him in the skull, followed by a kick to the back. Adam makes another swing, but she ducks under it and makes two kicks to his chest. She goes to throw another punch, but he blocks with his sword and pushes her back, making her roll along the ground next to Blake. All three are taking a few breaths from the grueling fight. Adam looks between them, and growls in anger as he unsheathes his blade, his semblance activating.
"YANG!" Blake shouts.
Adam yells as he swings his blade, releasing all that energy in a massive surge of red energy at Yang. The attack connects, but Yang remains standing on the stone bridge, with only her right arm showing some exterior damage from the attack. Yang lowers her arms, giving him a somewhat disinterested look.
"Leave. Us. Alone. This is your last chance," Yang warns him.
Adam stares at them, noticing Yang's left arm shaking from her PTSD, and chuckles.
"Hah, do you really believe that? Or are you just trying to scare me away so you won't have to die trying to protect her?" Adam taunts her.
Yang growls as she starts to get angry, but then Blake gently takes her left hand into her own.
"She's not protecting me Adam. And I'm not protecting her either. We're protecting each other. That's what friends, what family does for one another," Blake says as she stands with Yang, hand-in-hand.
"Couldn't have said it better myself, Blake," they hear and look up, just in time to see Porphyrius land in between them and Adam. "Sorry for the wait. You two stay out of this. I'll finish things here."
"The abomination," Adam mutters in disgust.
"Porphyrius, he-," Blake begins.
"I know. He's strong. That's why..." Porphyrius says, before he reaches up and takes off his eyepatch, revealing his closed, but scarred, right eye. "... I'm done holding back," he mutters, his right eye opening as purple flames erupt from within the blind, damaged eye.
Without the eyepatch, Porphyrius' semblance is released to its fullest potential as he prepares to face Adam.
And that's the chapter. Ruby and Khazhak's group fight against Cordovin's giant robot, but things aren't looking good so far. Meanwhile, Porphyrius releases his true power as he faces off against Adam Taurus one last time. Will the gang stop Cordovin? Will Porphyrius defeat Adam? Until then, please Read and Review.
P.S. Since Team RWBY gets upgrades to their weapons in volume 7, I'm giving upgrades to my characters. I already have them set for Khazhak, but as for the rest of the team and Voshkie'ahk, I haven't quite decided yet. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to tell me in your reviews. I'm curious as to what you guys have in mind and maybe it can give me some ideas. Give me your thoughts, and thank you for your input.
