Kensi pulled the car up to the back door of the auto shop. Kensi and Granger get out, and Kensi picks the lock as Granger keeps an eye out. After Kensi finishes with the lock, she pulls her gun out, and then opens the door for Granger to enter. The first person, or body technically seeing as how we're still unconscious, they see is me. Granger takes one look at me and knows it didn't go well. Granger turned to his right and saw Sam.
"I got Sam." Granger said.
One look at me, and Kensi's heart falls into her gut. She knows that I'm alive, my head is still attached to my body, but there's a lot of blood in my mouth. The two call out our names until we regain consciousness.
"It's me. It's me." Kensi said.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
Kensi ignored my question, and checked my body over. "Most of the trauma, which is pretty much healed, is in my mouth." I said.
"Kensi, the kit." Granger said.
Kensi stopped what she was doing, and then through a bundle at Granger. Kensi started to undo my jacket. "We don't have much time, and—"
"I know the score Kensi. And seriously? Are you about to put a bullet-proof vest on me?" I asked.
"Orders." Kensi said.
"This has got to be the weirdest thing ever. You know my disposition, and you're still putting a bullet-proof vest on." I said.
"No need to tip off Sidorov that you can't die." Kensi said.
"Touché." I said.
Kensi looked up at me with a small grin on her face. Just as they were finishing a phone started ringing.
"Go." Kensi said.
That was all Kensi said, and then Kensi and Granger left as quietly and quickly as they came. About thirty minutes passes before I hear talking behind the shop. I hear a man's voice which had a Russian accent, which means Sidorov has returned, and a female voice. My guess it was Quinn. I hear a door open, and close, and three distinct foot falls walking my way. It was Sidorov, Quinn, and Sidorov's goon. I look up as Sidorov asked Quinn. "Do you know this one?"
I looked up at Michelle, and then looked back at Sidorov. "I saw this guy outside of a hotel where we were staying. I thought he was a cop. Who he is?" Quinn asked.
"You're boyfriend's handler. We don't know what agency. I had to make sure I could trust." Sidorov said. Dream on. I thought, spitting blood for effect.
Sidorov's man walked away, and opened the doors to the room where Sam was being held. I heard Michelle ask something, but Sam didn't respond.
"Open your eyes and tell me who you are." Quinn ordered, with a stern tone.
I could hear Sam talking, but it was too low for me hear. I heard Quinn ask Sam a question, but it was the second question that I heard because she had another stern tone. "Are you a federal agent?"
Sam answered, but I couldn't hear it.
"All right listen." I began, and all eyes were on me. "You let us walk out of here, and you guys walk out of here. Nobody even knows we're here."
"You kill a federal agent, you're as good as dead." Sam said.
To which Quinn responded by putting two rounds in Sam chest. Sam slumps over dead. Quinn turns and look at me. For theatrics I said. "No. No." Quinn put two rounds in my chest.
Sidorov and his man must have been thrown off by Quinn shooting us because she said. "Remember, Isaak, he said he loved me too."
A moment of silence, and then Sidorov said. "I understand."
"Good. Let's get out of here and make some money." Quinn said.
I must have blacked out because I hear Granger directing the paramedics, I feel a set hands on me working to free me from my restraints. I hear Granger talking to Sam, as a paramedic checks me over.
"Open your mouth. Open." The paramedic said.
"I'm good." I said.
"Deeks." Kensi started.
"I'm good." I said.
"Agent Deeks." Granger ordered, looking back at me.
I opened my mouth as far as I could, which made the paramedic jump a little. The paramedic was shocked to see that my mouth was all but healed. "I'm refusing medical treatment. I'm sorry you got called out her for nothing." I said, and then stood up.
"Deeks." Sam said.
I looked at Sam, but in my head I'm wondering where this was going.
"Did you give up Michelle?" Sam asked.
Is this dude for real? I thought. "No." I said.
"Was Sidorov just playing her right now?" Sam asked.
The nerve of this guy. "I didn't give her up. I didn't give her up." I said.
A few seconds later Sam said thank you, and then he was put on a gurney.
"Go to the hospital, and get check out." Granger said, as they were wheeling Sam away.
"Really?" I asked.
"Keep an eye on Sam." Kensi said.
"Why? Sidorov isn't coming after us. Michelle saw to that. And all I need is a toothbrush and a change of clothes." I said.
There was a pause before Kensi handed me her ear piece. I knew who it was, and exactly what they were going to say. "Yes, Hetty." I said when I put the wig in.
"To the hospital, now. Until Sam leaves the hospital, you're on guard duty." Hetty ordered.
"Okay." I said.
"On the gurney." Granger said.
"Naw." I said.
"Deeks. Just do it." Kensi said.
I just glared at Kensi and Granger. "I hate you both." I said, as I was lying down on the gurney.
The paramedics strapped me in and then wheeled me away. Kensi was about to get in the ambulance with me, but I said. "Nope. You're riding with Granger."
Kensi was furious, but I gave her a look that made her slink away with her tail between her legs.

Three hours later-
Sam was checked into the hospital, and was in and out of surgery relatively quickly. I was sitting outside his room when I received a package and a phone call.
"Hello." I answered.
"Mr. Deeks, it's been a while." Mr. X said.
"Well, I know who the package is from. Do I want to know what's in it?" I asked.
"It's a little pick me up for your injured coworker." he said.
"Okay. What do you want after we get out of here?" I asked.
"I've tracked Anton Sidorov to Prague, but I can't get to him. You take out Isaak, and I will give you the information you desire." he said.
"Done. Anything else?" I asked.
"You're old friend, Lauren Hunter, was captured a few days ago. I'm guessing Anton is going to call you personally, and use her as bait." he said.
"This is going to be fun. Thanks again. I owe you." I said.
"You kill the Sidorov's, and we'll be even." Mr. X said, and then ended the call.
I open the package, and see a syringe with a clear substance. I'm taking a huge risk, but I need Sam up and moving. Something about this substances seems oddly familiar. Like I've encountered it before. But now isn't the time to take a stroll down amnesia lane. I enter Sam's room.
"What's up?" Sam asked.
"We gotta go." I said.
"How do you expect that to happen?" Sam asked.
"I got a little pick me up for from an associate that has been keeping tabs on the Sidorov's for me." I said, showing Sam the syringe.
"You sure about this?" Sam asked.
"No, but the man expects me to take down both Isaak and Anton for him. So my guess: he's not going to give me something that's going to hurt or kill you." I said.
"All right." Sam said.
I inject the substance into Sam's IV drip, and in moments Sam was feeling better. Sam checked out of the hospital, A.M.A., and then we went to get a change of clothes. As we were leaving Sam's place, he asked. "Do you know where to find Sidorov?"
"Kensi is following Michelle. So all we have to do is track Kensi phone." I said, and then started the car.
"Hey." Sam said.
"What?" I asked.
"I owe you for the rest of my life for what you did for me. I just wanted you to know." Sam said.
"Flip the script, and it was my wife on the line, I would expect you to do the same. Just wish you would have the decency to have a little faith in me." I said.
"Yeah, that was my mistake. I won't make it again." Sam said.
I nodded at Sam, and then we drove off.

Camford Hotel: rooftop access-
I could hear a lot of talk going on out on the roof top, but what got my attention was a text from Mr. X telling me that I need to be ready to leave within forty-eight hours. Which is all fine and dandy. Leaves me enough time to clear the case, have a few celebratory drinks, kill Jack, and leave. I put my phone away, and bust out on to the rooftop, firing four rounds into Sidorov's goon. And then Sam fired four rounds into Sidorov. Michelle went to Sam, and they did the whole lovers embrace and what not, but I need some information. I grab Sidorov's lackey, and slammed his body into the ground. No dice, so I grabbed my kukri and removed his head. I walked over to Sidorov and repeated the process, and was rewarded with Sidorov gasping for air.
"What the—" Michelle said.
"Don't worry about it. Let's get out of here." Sam said, and then cut the bindings off. "You too, Kensi."
"But—"
"Leave." I said.
Kensi stepped back into the building, but cracked the door, so she could watch what I was doing. I position myself so Kensi couldn't see what I was doing. Kensi watched for ten minutes until she saw me cut Sidorov's head, and then the electrical discharge of the Quickening began. Kensi wanted to run out to me, but she wasn't risking a chance taking a stray bolt of the energy discharge. Once the discharge finished, Kensi waited a few minutes until she saw my body start to move and then she left the safety of the doorway.
"Deeks, are you okay? Wha—" Kensi began.
"No, I'm good." I said. My late appearance to save the day was unexpected, and Kensi has a dozen question. But all I ask was. "You good?"
"Yeah, I'm good." Kensi said.
And I can tell that she is actually good. I sit up, and reach for my phone. I call Williams, to wrap this up. It took a few hours, but Williams shows and we get out there.

OPS: bull pen-
I had just gotten off the phone with Aton. He called to taunt me, and tell me that he was holding Laruen Hunter. This comes as no surprise, Mr. X. told earlier about this. After Anton hung up, I got a text from Mr. X telling me that I have a flight to catch in two days' time. There was a locker at L.A.X. that has a plane ticket out of town. I was packing up the nonessentials at my desk, lord only knows how long I will be gone. It was quiet in the bull pen. It's been a long time since I've had this kind of solitude. Which was broken when my lovely partner came to break the news.
"Hey." Kensi said.
"Hey. They, uh, recover the bombs?" I asked, as I made my way over to my desk.
"Yeah. NEST team found them hidden in a container headed for Iran via Africa. They're securing them now." she said, walking up into the bull pen and stopping at my desk.
"Well, I love happy endings." I said.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"I got a call from my mysterious friend, Mr. X. He has a job for me somewhere overseas." I said.
"Can I come with?" she asked.
"No. This is a one man job." I said.
"I could back you up." she pleaded.
"Kensi this isn't about completing the mission, the mission will be completed. This is the final chapter in the book between me and Anton Sidorov. Anton was responsible for selling weapons to people who had committed mass genocide back in eighties. Not only that, I might have to kill a friend?" I said.
"Who? And more importantly why?" she asked.
"Laurette Renard, but you know her as—" I began.
"Lauren Hunter. But why would you have to kill her?" she asked.
"Lara has been at this longer than I have. About a hundred years longer." I said.
"It's weird how you two don't look older than thirty-two, thirty-three." she said.
"That's what happens when you die. You don't age. Technically out body can still break down, but the Quickening allows us to remain our abilities, our youthful appearance, and anything else useful. When you've been doing this job for so long, sometimes the nostalgia for things that have been lost can overtake the desire to continue living this life." I said.
"Yet you don't seem to want to leave." she said.
"I've found the one thing that I lost when I died. That and I have a job for Hetty I need to complete. I have no intention of leaving until I finish the job for Hetty." I said.
"What did you lose?" she asked.
"Ask me later." I said
There was a pause, and then Kensi asked. "Are you sure that I can't come with you?"
"Kensi if anything were to happen to you, there would be nothing, and I mean nothing, that would be able to save this world from my wrath. The thought of losing you would break me." I said, and I began to tear up.
Kensi walk three steps and pulled me into a hug, and I hugged her back immediately. This feeling, being hugged by Kensi like this brings back many memories, but something about this hug was different. And I think I know why, because when we break the hug Kensi can't look me in the eyes. Kensi realized there is a connection between us. I saw her drying her eyes. "Don't worry Fern. I'll be back." I said, as I wipe my eyes as well.
Kensi smiled weakly, but there still tears in her eyes as she walked away. I took this moment to tell Kensi how I survived. "Kens." I said.
"Yeah?" she said.
"Ahem. Hey, I just want you to know that the place I went to in my head to, uh, stop the pain was you." I said. I know it's not fair to Kensi, to drop this on her but she needs to know. For all I know, not telling her this might do more harm than good. As I continue to speak I can see Kensi start to fall apart, just like that time I survived my first brush with death while Kenzie was still alive. "I just kept thinking about you smile and your laugh. Everything. It's the only thing that got me through. For whatever it's worth."
Kensi was on the verge of breaking down in the middle of OPS after hearing that. She was about to respond, but she just couldn't find the words, when Sam and Callen come walking in. From the sounds of it Sam was talking to Michelle. Sam and Callen exchange a few words, and then stop at the entrance to the bull pen as Sam says. "Deeks, got you a present."
Sam tossed a set of chattering teeth at me. Kensi was a little put off at first, and I was shock that Sam was trying to be funny. "Wow, that is, um…" I said, after the shock wore off.
"What? Too soon?" Sam asked.
"Anybody else, that might be too soon, but I appreciate the effort of trying to make me forget the event." I said.
"So then this isn't cool? No?" Callen asked, wearing a set of fake hillbilly teeth. Kensi and Sam were cracking up.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha. That's—No, that's amazing actually. Although, you might want to fire your dentist." I said.
Kensi and Sam laughed harder at my joke, than Callen's fake teeth. "All right." Callen said, as he took the teeth out.
"Hey. Laughing's good." Sam said.
It took me a moment, because I remembered what was on the horizon. Killing Anton, and very possibly having to kill Lara, and then I said. "Yeah. Okay."
"Let's get out of here. Drinks are on me." Callen said.
I happened to grab that picture earlier that Madison gave Kensi, and now would be the time to tell Sam about my military service, and rescuing Kensi.

The bar-
We get to our usual watering hole, and grab a booth. Everything was going great until Kensi got up to order another round of drinks. When she came back with the drinks, the same song that played when I rescued Kensi started to play.
"What song is this?" Callen asked.
"Mamma Said Knock you out by L.L. Cool J. This is a classic." Sam said, getting into the song.
"Well it's about to be immortalized." I said.
"Why?" Sam asked, as both he and Callen looked at me.
"May I?" Kensi asked
"Go ahead." I said, taking a swig of my beer.
"Remember when I was kidnapped two years ago?" Kensi asked.
"Yeah." Callen said, Sam was in mid sip of his beer.
The place I was held hostage was in a night club. One of the guys with Deeks decided to have a soundtrack for the event." Kensi said.
It took the pair a few seconds, but when L.L. Cool J started singing, Sam figured it out.
"Wait a minute. You rescued Kensi to Mamma Said Knock You Out, and you didn't even tell me?" Sam asked.
"You didn't even like me until five hours ago." I said.
"Man has a point." Callen said.
"Fair enough." Sam said.
"That's not even the best surprise of the night." I said.
"What's that?" Sam asked.
"Take a look at this." I said, as I handed Sam and Callen the picture that Kensi got from Madison.
"Wow this picture is old. What year?" Callen asked.
"Nineteen forty-five." I said.
"Oh, wow. Some of this gear is—whoa. Is that you?" Callen asked.
"Who?" Sam asked.
"Look at the bottom right corner. Is that you Deeks?" Callen asked.
Sure enough, Sam saw the person in question. "Is this for real? What were you doing during World War II?" Sam asked.
"I was conscripted by Hetty to kill Jack. That picture was taken after Auschwitz was liberated." I said.
Sam and Callen both looked up from the photo and saw that I had a thousand yard stare in my eyes. Kensi had reach out and rubbed my arm, bringing me back to the present. "How in the world did you go from clean shaven to the fluffy hair that you have now?" Sam asked.
"That happened years later." I said.
Sam and I traded war stories for three hours. At last call, we finished our drinks, Callen paid the bill, and then we went our separate ways. I made my way to the business warehouse.
N.C.I.S. L.A.
Warehouse district-
Jack was waking up after being out for about six hours. As he was getting up off the floor, the first thing he saw was my face.
"Geez, Agent Deeks. Let a guy wake up before you get in his face." Jack said.
"Nope. Why would I do that?" I asked.
"It common courtesy—"
"As if you gave any of your victims such a gesture." I said, and then cut Jack's head off.
The power I got from Jack seemed different compared to the other immortals I've killed. It felt darker and crueler than all the others I have killed. It was a sensation I never want experience, ever again.
