Barnabas, Will, Carolyn, and Roxanne hold a seance to contact the victims of the sacrifices, to learn what Barnabas might be facing.

The spirits come. Some talk of bright eyes, others of green feathers, or a sharp beak, but they provide little more.

Carl Collins comes and begs Barnabas to take his body back to his original reality. "I cannot rest because I do not belong here" he says. He begins to make a more complete description of what he faced, but then stops.

"He has been silenced" Will says. "That's why we have to ask all of them, to have the complete picture"

More and more come, men and women, some with names lost. Roxanne recognizes the bride whose history she was researching.

And then a young boy.

"Daniel, not you too!" Roxanne says. "Not their own child"

She sighs. "But of course, you were crippled. No matter that you were bright, and kind. All they could see was your bad leg. That made you a sacrifice. And I could not protect you... and I would not have known how. I am sorry, Daniel"

Will keeps track of what each spirit manages to say. "I hope that this will be enough I will check on my references"

...

Quentin comes down to the ground floor, grumbling. "Do you know what my lady wife wants to do? Start teaching the village children about art, teach them to appreciate it, and to encourage them. As if it helped them catch fish"

"Well" Hoffman says with a hidden smile "She is a refined lady, and she takes her responsibilities seriously"

"Yeah, she is refined. Very refined. You know, a man can only take so much refinement, so much appreciation of the finer things in life. How about appreciating what we have here? Why can't she be more like Victoria?
