*Chapter 9: That's All Folks!*

-One Week Later-

The sounds of a screwdriver whirring filled the Water Tower one warm early summer day. Rem Roth, clad in a hard hat, was busy drilling decorative hooks into the hull. With a couple of screws poking out from the corner of her mouth, she tilted her head to the side to make sure the measurements were correct. After drilling some more, Rem spit out the other screws and bent over to pick up another object.

Her sheathed blade hung perfectly and securely in the cherry wooden hooks right above the nightstand. After looking at it from different directions, Rem was fully satisfied with it. Next, she turned her attention on another item sitting on the floor. The teen hoisted up her old backpack and dumped its contents onto her bed. She placed her Chapstick and pocket-sized tissues into the drawer of her nightstand along with her book, The Devine Comedy and tore up and tossed out her report card and study guide for World History class. When Rem came across her mini katana letter opener, she scrutinized it for a moment.

...Eh, screw it. I'm keeping this.

And into the nightstand it went.

After clearing her binder of any remaining and previously written class assignments, Rem placed it and her textbooks in a small box labeled, 'Good Will Thrifting', a secondhand shop that was three blocks from the studio. A few seconds later, her backpack was dumped into the box as well. Rem scanned her bed spread to check if she happened to miss anything. Her eye caught a thin sheet of glossy paper that was slightly crumpled up with folded in half.

It must have been stuck under her binder all this time because she certainly failed to notice it when her peers first went through her things a few years ago. Upon unfolding it, Rem instantly felt her face heat up with emotion.

It was a strip of fun photo paper, taken at a booth from a mall, with five snap shots of a pair of high school girls. One with long blonde hair and sparkling grey eyes...the other a brunette with a spiky pixie cut and dulled green eyes. In each of the snap shots, the blonde made funny and goofy poses, all with a big wide smile, whereas the brunette had an expressionless and perpetual frown on her face and making obscene gestures in a few of the snap shots. Rem barely recognized the brunette as herself and was nearly in shock and disbelief that this was her back then. She also felt vastly ashamed for being a total ass to the teen opposite of her in the photos, who only wanted to be her best friend. More importantly, the one person who kept her going...

...The one person that inadvertently stopped her from ingesting a laced sports drink on their first day of high school.

A warm smile stretched wide on Rem's face and her eyes slightly watered as she now felt tremendous gratitude and appreciation for her.

...Thank you so much, Alice...and don't worry; I'm in good hands now...

Rem straightened the glossy strip of photo paper as neatly as she could to get rid of the folds.

"Hey, Rem! Ya still up there?!"

The teen was brought back down to earth after Yakko's voice called out to her from bellow. She promptly placed the strip of photo paper within the pages of The Devine Comedy, hoping the pressing weight would straighten it out, and zipped out of the Water Tower to join her peers.

"Right here." Rem said.

"Then let's vamoose!" Yakko declared.

As the Quartet went on their way to wreak zany havoc, Mr. Plotz, presently seated in his office with Dr. Scratchansniff, discussed the agenda for the month. A post card from Japan secured in a picture frame sat near the stout CEO's phone.

"Now look closely, Scratchansniff." Plotz directed. "This is our budget for Q3 of the fiscal year. Notice anything?"

"Eh, lots und lots of beeg numbers, ja?" the p-sychiatrist asked inquisitively.

"Very good, Scratchansniff. It also means that the expectations of our production output are rather high this quarter. And to make sure all that runs smoothly..."

Scratchansniff let out a moan, knowing and dreading what was going to come out of the studio boss' mouth next.

"...you'll have to have to work extra hard to make sure those Warners curb their zany antics!"

"Ja, of course, T.P."

"Excellent, Scratchansniff. Now, get to it."

The studio shrink dejectedly left the CEO's office and went out onto to the lot. On his way to his own office, he was suddenly greeted by the very faces he and Plotz were conversing about.

"HEEEELLLLLOOOOO, SCRATCHY!"

They all pounced on him and bestowed a large smooch his face. Scratchansniff was very dismayed to see Rem also engaging in zany activities with her peers.

"Mees Roth, not you too..." he lamented.

"It's addicting, what can I say?" Rem replied with a shrug.

"Although she still hasn't quite mastered the art of bicycling in thin air." Yakko quirked.

"Still got one on ya, Warner."

"Oh really? Like what?"

Rem simply reached into her orchid vest and took out a pair of hair clippers. The buzzing sound made Yakko flinch, to which prompted a snicker from the teen.

"Tolja." she sneered.

Yakko attempted to jump Rem, but she quickly dodged out of the way and sped off, laughing maniacally. Her peers promptly took off after her.

Meanwhile, Ralph was helping Junior settle in at the youngster's own security booth.

"Now remember, son." Ralph instructed. "When those Warners try to sneak past heres, that's when youse get out a net like this, an' swing it to catch 'em!"

As he said this, Junior saw the Quartet zip by and past the gate behind his large father who didn't notice a thing.

"Any questions?" Ralph asked cheerfully.

Junior blinked a few times before simply leaning his elbow onto the booth door with his chin in his hand.

"Nope, not at all." he muttered.

The Quartet sped through Dr. Scratchansniff's neighborhood and passed by his house. A certain dog and cat rested peacefully and contentedly on the front porch.

"Ahhhh, life is sweet." Rita sighed.

"Yeah, duh-definitely sweet." Runt agreed.

In the local park, a pair of squirrels were very busy with another harvest of their nut laden tree house. This time around, the harvest was quite fruitful.

"Now this is more like it." Slappy said.

"Hey, Aunt Slappy." Skippy called out from above. "Is it alright if I had lunch with Bonnie this afternoon?"

"Eh, whaddya askin' for? Of course, you can have lunch with your lady friend. Just be home by five."

Skippy groaned at the mention of a curfew before he could really celebrate at being given permission.

Elsewhere in the park and perched upon the statue of Martin Scorsese and snoozing away, were the Goodfeathers. Only to be awoken by a surprise visit by their leader.

"The Godpigeon!" Squit cried out before he, and his associates bestowed a kiss upon the old pigeon's talons.

"Ehhh, pookie en fergo la beak frey aba kooie."

Bobby and Pest let out a gasp of shock and disbelief while Squit gave a rather inquisitive expression.

"What is it?" the grey headed pigeon inquired.

"The Godpigeon Sully says he's openin' the books." Bobby said in a trembling voice.

"What's that mean?"

"It means we're movin' up!" Pesto cried excitedly. "We're gettin' made!"

A big wide grin appeared on Squit's beak.

"Really?!" he cried in sheer happiness as this was the best thing to happen to him since becoming a Goodfeather.

"A bukie." the Godpigeon replied with a nod. "Eh, spaghetti cosa kia ker splatcha, capiche?"

"WE'LL BE THERE!" the Goodfeathers dutifully replied.

At Acme Labs, Brain was gathering materials while Pinky was reading a letter that had been in the mail.

"Egad, Brain!" Pinky cried. "Romy's got his own office! NARF!"

"Wonderful news, Pinky." Brain replied, sounding almost uninterested, but was inwardly pleased that their clone finally had a respectable job and not going abroad doing nonsense. "But we must prepare for tonight!"

"Why, Brain? What are we gonna do tonight?"

"The same thing we do every night, Pinky...TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!"

The Warner Quartet finally came to a halt near the 'Hollywood' sign where they could see the entire studio and most of the city of Burbank. Rem felt a warm pleasant breeze pass her by. She almost missed how gorgeous the weather was.

"So tell me, what's on our agenda for today?" she asked curiously.

Her peers whirled into business attire and went through several feet of fax paper.

"Well let's see, there's breaking in Junior's security guard skills." Yakko said.

"There's a new technology supply shop that opened in the mall." Dot added. "And since Scratchy's birthday is coming up, we can get him one of those new smartphones."

"Sixflags has a new rollercoaster ride called 'The Puker'." Wakko enthusiastically said, which didn't quite appeal to Rem.

"But...eehhhhhh, I think we'll let you pick." Yakko said.

Rem blinked in surprise.

"...Seriously?" she rasped.

"Sure, the sky's the limit." Yakko replied with a genuine grin Then he made a serious face. "As long as it ain't MTV material."

Rem let out a lighthearted giggle and took each of their hands into hers.

"Come on, then!" she cheerfully declared.

The Quartet thus sped off into the horizon, ready to engage in their zany antics.
