Chapter 10
The day came that Destiny and Spike would fight the demon Lythos. As they arrived three hours before the beast was expected to enter this reality, in the abandoned warehouse- they noted how vampires were guarding the place.
"There's only three of them" Michael said.
"Probably more lurking about" Spike huffed.
The three got out of the car. Michael killed one of the vampires instantaneously with his cross bow. The other two charged at them.
Spike dodged a punch from one of the vampires in hooded robes. He sunk his stake into the vampires heart and it turned to dust.
Destiny did a spin kick to the third vampire who fell onto the floor where she dived onto it, placing her stake into it's heart.
"Let's search the place and see if there's more vampires" Michael said.
The three walked together as they checked to see if more vampires were guarding the perimeter. Yet there wasn't any more.
Inside the old warehouse it smelled of blood and death. The smell was disgusting.
"Bloody rotten in here" Spike shouted.
A vampire in robes was bent down and changing over the dead body of a girl. Destiny let out a shocked noise- for it was the first dead body she had ever seen in her life that wasn't a vampire.
"Got to get used to death as a slayer" Spike said.
"I know" Destiny sighed.
Michael sent an arrow from his crossbow flying into the chest of the vampire chanting over the dead girl. The vampire turned to dust.
Yet it's ritual magic had been completed and Lythos emerged. The air in the warehouse cracked and popped as the dimensional portal opened.
The demon was made of a florescent blue skin and had eyes that were like beacons of light.
The demon looked at the three of them, it laughed and sent a wave of energy towards them.
"Bloody hell" Spike said as he turned round to look at a vision of Buffy Summers.
"You missed me?" said the hallucination of Buffy.
Spike shook his head as she tried to shake off the vision. "Not bloody real".
"aww c'mon Spike. I've missed you. Can get boring up in Heaven at times" said the hallucination of Buffy Summers.
Destiny had a sword in her hand she charged at the demon who dodged her attacks.
Spike was unable to stop looking at the hallucination that he saw, tears were rolling down his face.
"It's not real" screamed Destiny as she made an attempt to attack the demon.
Spike could still see the hallucination but he charged towards the demon with his sword in the air.
"If you let this beast live, you can always have a part of me with you, Spike, don't you miss me" said the hallucination of Buffy.
Yet Spike knew it wasn't Buffy Summer's who had died over three hundred years ago at a ripe old age for a human. She would want him to help this young slayer and that's exactly what he did.
Spike threw himself in the air as his sword came down upon the demon. Slicing the monster in two.
"You could have been with me forever" screamed the hallucination of Buffy as the blue demon died.
Michael was breathing heavily as he held his crossbow. The three had defeated Lythos, a dangerous demon who would have only got more powerful if undefeated.
"We need to cut him into more pieces and then burn the evidence" Michael said.
"Bloody hell, talk about pleasant" Spike laughed as he cut away at the dead blue demon.
They burnt the remains and watched as hallucinogenic remains effected Spike but not Michael and Destiny due to Meredith's spell.
"Don't listen to what you see" Destiny said.
"Got a vision of Buffy shouting at me but her voice is fading. Once the bloody remains of this demon are gone, I'm having a fag and a drink" Spike sighed.
The hallucinations faded after an hour when the demons remains were burnt to nothing.
The three fighters got back in Michael's car where they drove back to the guest house to drop Spike off.
"Was a bloody pleasure helping you, well not really but you know, it's what I do" Spike said, "I'll be off tomorrow. Back to my digs in London. If any big bad's come around again, you know where I am".
Michael and Destiny watched Spike go back to the guesthouse knowing he would go home in his car tomorrow.
Michael got them both a drive through McDonald's before he dropped Destiny home.
"There will be other demons" Michael said, "Other battles for you to face".
"I know. Spike won't always be around to help me" Destiny said, "But you will. I'm a slayer. I will face what this gig holds for me. I am glad you are my watcher".
After the food, Michael dropped Destiny back at her home. When he returned to his studio flat he wrote everything down in his watcher's journal. He wrote about the demon and how it had made Spike hallucination. How Meredith's protection spell had protected him and Destiny from the affects of his magic. He explained how his vision had meant they knew when the demon would enter this reality.
Michael then opened his computer which the watcher's council had provided for him. He wrote down a filtered account of Destiny defeating the demon Lythos. He did not mention Spike.
He made himself a coffee and thought about the months that had just passed. Soon Destiny would be taking her GCSE exams. She was sixteen and had her whole life ahead of her. Slayer's died every day in battle yet a lot of them survived to live for a long time.
He wanted great things for Destiny. She was his slayer- his purpose in life.
THE END.
