Jack went back upstairs to Rose. "What happened?" Rose asked sleepily. "Where did you go?"

"Downstairs, to get a snack. I couldn't sleep," he said. "And I saw Josie downstairs."

Rose frowned. "What was she doing up?"

"She couldn't sleep either. I talked to her, and she went back to sleep." Jack wasn't going to tell her what Josie said, since she told him in confidence.

"What did you talk about?"

"Nothing in particular. We talked about you, and us, and her." Jack smiled. "She's amazing. She's perfect."

"I know," said Rose.

"She called me 'Dad'." Jack smiled. Rose looked up and smiled. She leaned in and kissed him. Jack looked at her. Her eyes glimmering, and her smile so perfect. Jack saw everything when he looked at her. Everything he wanted, everything he loved. And in that moment, Jack decided he would make her his everything. "Marry me."

"What?" Rose asked, shocked.

"Marry me," he repeated. "You're everything to me. I love you, and I love Josie, and I want to marry you. I want for us to finally have our happily ever after, and be a family."

Rose looked at Jack and smiled. "Yes." She kissed him again, and he wrapped his arms around her waist. "Never let me go."

It was the next morning, and Jack and Rose woke up to find each other still in each other's arms. "Good morning," Rose whispered, a smile spread across her face.

"Good morning," said Jack. He kissed Rose and wrapped his arms around her. "You have no idea how much I wished this would happen. That I would wake up and find you by my side."

"I am by your side," said Rose, "forever." Jack leaned in to kiss her, but pulled away and stood up. "What are you doing?"

Jack went over to where his bags were. He picked something up, but then returned to Rose. "I was sure that when I saw the picture of you in that magazine that it was my imagination, but I still brought this… in case it was true." He took his hands out from behind his back to reveal an engagement ring. "This was my mother's. I want you to have it."

"Jack, I love it, and I love you." Rose took it and held it in her hands. "You know we're going to have to tell Josie before I start wearing it, right?"

Jack kissed Rose's cheek. "I know. Do you think she'll be okay with this?"

Rose smiled. "She loves you. You know how happy she is that you're here, that we're back together."

"So should we go tell her?" Jack asked.

Rose laughed. "She's not going to be up for hours. Most weekends she sleeps until eleven. Let's go get breakfast." Jack and Rose had gotten up and dressed, and they were about to leave, when Rose stopped. "Oh, wait." Rose turned around and went to the kitchen, where she took out a sticky note and wrote "went to Luke's - be back soon". She took the note and put it on Josie's forehead. "Now we can go."

Jack and Rose got to Luke's where they ordered breakfast. Lane, Josie's best friend, appeared at the diner. "Hi, Rose," she said with a smile.

"Hi, Lane. How are you?" Rose smiled. Lane was followed in by her mother. "Hello, Mrs. Kim."

"Hello, Ms. Dawson," Mrs. Kim replied coldly, and she left.

"Sorry about that," said Lane. "She's in a bad mood. Hey, how's Josie?"

Rose smiled. "She's okay. She's doing better."

"Good, I'll call her later. Bye," she said, before leaving.

"Who is that?" Jack asked.

"Josie's best friend. Her mother, Mrs. Kim, is like my mother. Well, not as bad. But Lane spends a lot of time at our house, because her mother is so strict," Rose said.

"She seems really nice," said Jack. He looked at Rose lovingly. "So, should we talk about the wedding?"

"Shhhh," said Rose. "This whole town has ears. I… I need Josie to hear it from us, not someone else. And I need for her to be the first person we tell, okay?"

Jack kissed her cheek. "Of course. She can be the first one we tell."

"Thank you," Rose smiled. She lowered her voice. "And I know we're getting married, but I want to make a proposal as well."

"What do you mean?" Jack asked, perplexed.

Rose smiled. "I want you to move in with us… officially." Rose took Jack's hand. "Look, I don't know how long it's going to be before we get married, but I want you to live with us. I want you to be with us."

"Of course," said Jack, with a smile. "I would love to."

Jack and Rose returned home to find Josie reading the newspaper in the living room. "Brought you home breakfast and coffee," Rose said.

"God bless you," said Josie, opening the bag. "It smells amazing." She went to the kitchen to eat.

"Josie, can we talk to you?" Rose asked, following Josie into the kitchen.

"Sure, what's up?" Josie asked.

Rose took Josie's hand and smiled. "We're getting married," she said.

Josie's eyes grew wider. "Oh my god," she said with a smile that quickly faded. "When did this happen?"

"Last night," said Jack.

Josie looked at Jack with tears in her eyes. "Last night? So when I blatantly asked you what was going on with Mom, you lied to me?"

"No, Josie. It wasn't like that," he tried to tell her.

Josie shook her head and stood up. "I have to get out of here," she said, and she ran away.
