May 11, 1992 ~
Garnet settled in with Hufflepuffs that had chosen Divination, it was thier last class of the day. She really wasn't sure what she thought about Divination yet. Professor Trewlany was a little absurd, but it was somewhat entertaining.
"Open your mind's eye," Trewlany walked around the room as students were looking at tea leaves in cups. Garnet was trying hard to concentrate on the tea leaves and see something in them. She kept flipping the pages for signs of something special she could report.
Garnet wasn't paying attention to her bracelet, again, as it began to change colors. She picked up the cup, and everything went black.
She awoke to Professor Trewlany, and a couple other students bent over her.
"My dear, you fell to the floor so suddenly, you were out but a few seconds. Are you alright? Did you have a vision?" Trewlany was grasping at straws.
"I...I don't know." Garnet played along, not wanting to tell everyone the truth. She told her the first thing that popped into her head. "I saw a Lion, chewing on a Snake." She wrinkled her nose, realizing how stupid that sounded.
"Ah-ha, perhaps you had a prediction that Gryffindor is going to beat Slytherin in the House Cup." Trewlany thought about it a bit.
"Fat chance, we are way ahead of those Gryffindorks," one of the Slytherin boys laughed.
Just then the bell rang. Garnet gathered her things and escaped as quickly as she could.
She raced all the way to the dungeon to throw her stuff on her bed. She tried to not talk to anyone. She was embarrassed. At least she was able to pass it off as having a vision, but still.
Garnet rubbed the back of her head, where she must have bumped it on the floor when she went down. Sighing to herself, she headed for Dinner.
She managed to avoid people on her way to the Great Hall. She was almost there when she heard a voice calling to her from the stairway. Jogging up the stairs from the basement was Cedric.
"Garnet! You alright?" he rushed over to her, a look of concern on his face. "My housemates in your Divination Class were just talking about you in the Common Room. Said you made a pretty good thud when you hit the floor." He reached up and tenderly touched the back of her head.
Garnet blushed. She and Cedric had been hanging out more lately because Professor McGonagall had asked her to tutor him in Transfiguration.
"I-I'm alright Ced," she said.
"Are you sure?" he was awfully close. Garnet took a small step back so she could breath.
"Promise, I've got a bit of a headache, but I'll sleep it off." she smiled.
"Garnet!" she rolled her eyes upward as she heard her name in stereo. Cedric took a step back now.
"Are you okay?" George asked her as soon as he was beside her, then eyed Cedric warily. He was not too happy about the time she was spending tutoring him.
"I'm okay Georgie, Fred, promise." She smiled. "I'm hungry guys, can we just go in and eat instead of dawdling out in the corridor? Please?" Garnet headed inside. She immediately sat at the Gryffindor table. George smiled and walked in to sit next to her. Fred sat across from them.
Cedric went to sit with his housemates.
Harry, Ron and Hermione were chatting, when she overheard one of them whisper "...I know what I heard, Snape was definitely threatening Professor Quirrell."
Garnet froze. She looked up to her Godfather. Snape kept giving Quirrell a look of disdain.
'Severus wouldn't do that...would he?' she thought to herself.
As much as Garnet wanted to hear what else they were saying about Professor Snape, she kept herself from listening. She didn't want to resent them later.
As dinner continued, Garnet dropped out of the conversations going on around her. She was pushing the last of her food around on her plate aimlessly, staring off. Her headache was getting worse.
A hand took hold of hers. It wasn't until it gently squeezed her hand that she blinked and looked up at George's worried expression.
"Are you sure you're alright?" he asked, still holding her hand.
Garnet smiled, "I'm okay Georgie, really. I'm just tired. Any day I have Care of Magical Creatures and Divination is a long day." she shrugged, "Add in the knock to the head, I'm ready for bed."
George nodded, "You want me to walk you to your Common Room?" he timidly asked.
"You can if you want to," she blushed a little.
"Did you want to go now?" he asked. Garnet nodded.
He stood and waited for her to get up, then he ushered her out of the Great Hall.
As soon as they got out into the corridor, Garnet's head already felt a little better.
"We only have three more weeks to study for finals." She sighed, "Are you guys ready?"
George laughed, "Of course not."
"Oh," Garnet raised a brow, "Well I'm currently tutoring others in Transfiguration if you'd need any extra help."
"I'll keep it in mind," he smirked.
"Cedric's already improved his grade in the three weeks I've been tutoring him." she said.
"I bet," George muttered to himself.
"Excuse me?" Garnet asked.
"I said I'm sure he has. You're brilliant." he said a little louder, covering up what he said.
Garnet blushed again. "Thank you."
They entered the dungeons, and that's where George was going to leave Garnet. She never took them to the door, because she didn't want the other Slytherin to call her a traitor.
George looked her in the eyes. "You're sure you're going to be okay?" he asked one more time.
"I will be. I'll go up, hop in the shower and go straight to bed. My headaches' getting worse." she shrugged.
"Alrighty then, I'll leave you to it." he said, then hesitated before bringing her in for a hug.
Garnet smiled as she hugged him back and smelled his jumper. It always smelled of broom polish and sulfur.
He let her go, smiled, and then turned to walk away. "Good night, Prince." he raised a brow and smiled.
"Good night Weasley." Garnet couldn't help but feel a little disappointment as he walked away from her.
She headed into the Common Room and set out to get a shower.
