The next day (game day, not actual day) I came out to the hotel entrance, and was greeted by both Hop and a Macro Cosmos Employee who claimed to be one of the good ones. She directed us to the stadium, and as soon as we were at the front entrance, Hop told us to get checked in, which, after getting a Dream Ball from Ball Guy, we did. Then came the opening ceremony, where Leon gave us a speech, and the first battle, began.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
Out of nowhere, a pink and blue Bede walked onto the field and challenged me to a battle, putting his career on the line. With such a kerfuffle, it took a minute before Leon allowed the fight to start, and Mawile and Octoling started things off, with intimidate raising our attack. With this boost, a single Psycho Cut took out Mawile, and with Gardevoir on the way, Slit & Slice took the field. After taking my first two turns to set up an Iron Defense, and then a Swords Dance, Iron Head took out Gardevoir. Rapidash came out and also got Iron Headed, and finally, Hatterene came out. One last Iron Head took her out immediately after she had Gigantamaxed. Bede was finished, and though he had lost his bet of sorts, he was urged to continue. Of course, this infuriated him, but he continued the match nonetheless, and we went back into the locker room to rest up.
After a minute, we went back onto the field to fight off our first opponent: Nessa. Her Golisopod came out first, and, despite the fact that my entire team was Level 100, First Impression outsped Octoling, doing a fair amount of damage before Foul Play caused Emergency Exit to activate, and Seaking came out. Night Slash took Seaking out, though, so when Golisopod came back out, I switched to Diana Prince, and Nessa used a full restore, derailing my original strategy. In response, I turned to Obstruct, only to have that be wrecked by Swords Dance. Another Swords Dance foiled my second Counter attempt, as did another for my third. Finally, Liquidation struck, which didn;'t even take Diana Prince out of the green before Counter took out Golisopod. Barraskewda came out next, and I decided that Glumbreon would take it down, which he did with a single Dark Pulse. Keeping Glumbreon in for Pelipper, Dark Puse once again was a OHKO, and Drednaw came out to try and finish things. A Bite did virtually nothing, and G-Max Stonesurge scattered Stealth Rocks across my side of the field. Here's where I took it up a notch and Dynamaxed Glumbreon, and with a Dark Pulse Max Darkness, the battle was finished.
With round one out of the way, Allister was my next opponent, and I knew this would be easy. Once more, I started with Octoling, while Allister let Dusknoir take the lead on his team. Foul Play knocked it out immediately, and Night Slash did the same to both Chandelure and Polteageist. With Cursola coming next, I decided to go the special route for more of a challenge and switched out to Glumbreon. Dark Pulse took it out, and Octoling came back out to take down Gengar with a single Psycho Cut. Allister had been beaten, and I was one battle away from Leon.
After getting a "pep talk" from Piers and Marnie, I went to fight my final opponent: Raihan. Octoling still in the lead, Psycho Cut brought Torkoal down to the red, and, with Drought as its ability, it managed to get off a Solar Beam. Slash would have finished things if Raihan hadn't used a full restore, but two of them took Torkoal out, and Turtonator came out to fight. Shell Trap got set up and it mattered when it critical hit Octoling after Psycho Cut failed to take it out in one shot. Slash took out Turtonator, and with Drought gone, Goodra was set up to come out. Haircut came in as well, and with a Spirit Break, she went down. Flygon followed, but Icy Wind from Killer Frost took it out as fast as it came in. Finally, Duraludon came in to finish the fight, but with Haircut and Power-Up Punch, it didn't stand a chance. We started with Dynamax immediately, going for Max Knuckle to finish everything. AND IT TOOK IT! Of course, Haircut took the following Max Steelspike, and everything ended with the next turn and another Max Knuckle. Raihan was out of the tournament.
Back in the locker room, both Hop and Rillaboom congratulated us on our win and decided that they would route for us. This was it. With the world at out back, we would finally take Leon down and claim his title for our own!
Tomorrow.
