Chapter 14- NEWTs

Mid-May. Exam time. All 6 of them; Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville and Luna, as well as all the other seventh-years, were all nervous as hell. They were gathered outside the Great Hall, waiting for their first exam. Charms theory. Hermione was frantic with worry, annoying her boyfriend Ron when she theorises on possible exam questions. Ginny practices her levitation charms with Luna, whilst Harry and Neville sit against the wall going over their notes.

Eventually, the door opens, and all the seventh-years make their way into the Great Hall. Harry sits down at his small exam desk and looks at his quill, ink and exam paper. Professor Flitwick makes his way to the front of the Great Hall and begins to speak.

"Well then, students. Welcome to your NEWT-level Charms theory exam. Please, no cheating, as you will be disqualified, and there is magic on your paper to detect it. You have one hour to complete the paper, starting now. Good luck".

Flitwick steps down from the platform and sits behind the teachers' table, proceeding with some work of his own. The seventh-years open their papers and begin to wrote. Harry looks around the room; he sees Hermione, Ginny and Luna all starting to write, with Hermione scribbling away like a madwoman. Ron is leant back in his chair, looking stresses, and Neville is scratching his head with the tip of his quill.

Harry looks down at his own paper and turns the first page. He looks at the first question; Give three purposes of non-verbal incantations for charms.

Eventually the exam finishes, and Harry reunites with Ginny and their friends in the Entrance Hall, and they all make their way towards the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw common rooms.

"How do you reckon you did, Harry?"

"Not too bad, Gin. You".

"We shall see, babe".

"Since when do you call me babe?"

"Since now". Ginny rises onto her tip toes and plants a peck on Harry's lips.

The rest of their exams progress quickly. Harry does a perfect levitation charm, manages to turn water into vinegar and produces an exquisite Aguamenti charm, having had plenty of practice in the Cave with Dumbledore in his sixth-year, in his practical Charms exam. In his Potions exams, he details the purpose of and how to use a bezoar, and creates a near-perfect Polyjuice Potion, although it is not as good as Hermione's. His Herbology exam proves the most difficult, particularly when him and all his friends have to replant a Bouncing Bulb whilst the Venomous Tentacula tries to grab them from behind. Their penultimate exams are for Transfiguration, and somehow, they all manage to turn their partners in the practical exam into comfy chairs, although Ron's attempt at turning Harry into a chair ends up a bit lumpy.

The Defence Against the Dark Arts exams prove to be Harry's favourites, as he demonstrates perfect defence against Inferi, the single best Patronus that his examiner had ever seen, and perfect resistance against the Imperius Curse.

Inevitably, the exams all end, and as the time to leave Hogwarts forever approaches, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville and Luna are more bothered with celebrating the end of their exams, and they leave the Great Hall after their final exam cheering, jumping, and hugging each other.
