Chapter 15: Leo

Back inside the Pyramid Leo engorged himself on a piece of ambrosia. He could feel the cuts and scrapes across his body begin to heal.
"So," said Jason, "The citadel is safe?"

"For now," replied Khufu, "it would be unwise for any intruder to return so soon after a defeat. I believe our enemy will be targeting another staff."

"Makes sense. The others are likely less protected." Continued Annabeth.

"Less protected than an old dude with swords? Brilliant." Remarked Leo. The Pharaoh looked at him with a steely gaze.

"I like you, son of Hephaestus." Replied Khufu as he turned to face the demigods. "But you must leave now. The other staffs must be restored or Chaos will return. That will be the end of everything." Leo shuddered.
"Thank you Pharaoh." Said Annabeth as she bowed in respect. She gestured for Leo and Jason to copy her. The two looked at each other with unease, but complied.

"I should be thanking you three." Replied Khufu. "But now is not the time to stand on ceremony. You must leave so you can stop Chaos. I will seal the Pyramid behind you. Good luck." Leo was more than happy to comply.

Outside the Pyramid Leo basked in the warm light of the Egyptian sun. The Sahara was beginning to come to life around the group. Market stalls were setting up, camels were circling the pyramids and military personal were patrolling the area. A guard shot the group an odd look as they exited the Pyramid. Leo smiled back. He was met with an eye roll.

"So where next?" asked Jason.

"I have an idea." Replied Annabeth. Leo followed the others as they began to head back to the city. It was time to leave Giza and continue on their quest.
