May 28, 1993 ~
Garnet didn't feel like being in class. None of her friends did.
Last Saturday the Quidditch game was abruptly cancelled when their friend Hermione and Percy's girlfriend, Penelope Clearwater, were found petrified.
Fred and George were trying to keep things positive, but with all the restrictions now going on, even the Twins were having a hard time staying upbeat.
George and Garnet only got to see each other during Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and the classes they shared together.
This was putting Garnet is a less than stellar mood.
Today she was sitting in Divination, and with the incense and warmth of the fire, she felt so drowsy.
"Yes, child, your family pet is not long for this world, I'm afraid." she heard Professor Trewlaney say to a fellow Slytherin.
Garnet propped her head up so she could pay attention. She blinked a few times.
Suddenly she saw a huge snake. It was staring right at her with horrific red eyes. Garnet froze in terror. Then she saw Ginny standing in front of her.
The snake turned its attention from Garnet and looked at Ginny.
It lunged, mouth open wide.
"Ginny!" Garnet screamed and jerked herself out of her seat, falling onto the floor.
Everyone in Divination was staring at her.
Professor Trewlaney rushed over to her. "Child, what did you see? Was it a vision?"
"I...I..." Garnet was shaking. Did she day dream it? Tears formed at the corner of her eyes.
Before Trewlaney could interrogate her, the bell chimed and everyone began gathering their things.
Garnet could see it on her face that she wanted to pursue what she saw. Garnet was glad she couldn't. She was barely holding it together as she shoved her book in her bag.
Professor Trewlaney ushered the students to the Great Hall for Lunch. Garnet followed at the back of the group so no one would talk to her. When they got to the Great Hall, she saw none of her friends were there yet. She made her way to their spot and sat down, hunched forward, looking down, so her hair fell in a way it made a curtain, blocking her face from everyone around her.
She finally let her tears fall. Garnet closed her eyes but immediately saw those blood red eyes and opened them again.
George and Fred walked in to the Great Hall from Charms. They stopped quickly when they saw Garnet sitting at the table. That knew something was wrong.
"Well that's not a good sign, is it?" Fred said to his brother.
George shook his head. "No, it certainly is not." George quickly walked over and sat next to his girlfriend, facing her. The others were all starting to fill in around them.
"What's the matter, love?" he said quietly. He heard her sniffing back tears. George touched her back gently, "Garnet?"
Garnet turned and buried her head in his shoulder and her tears gave way to silent sobbing.
George wrapped his arms around her. "Shh, shh, it's okay," he looked around at some of the student looking at her. "Come on, let's go out in the corridor." He stood up and pulled her with him, arms still wrapped protectively around her.
Snape watched them head out. He could tell something wasn't right. He thought quickly, which class did Garnet just come from.
"Sybil..." he muttered, knowing the eccentric professor would have ran right back up to her tower once the students were dropped off.
Snape stood and used the door closest to him, making his way around the Great Hall so he could check on the pair of teenagers. He stopped just far enough to hear them talking.
"Come on, love, tell me what the matter is. I haven't seen you this upset since Second Year." George recalled that horrible Valentine's Day. Garnet still had her face buried in his shoulder, but now she had her arms wrapped around him, holding on. Her crying was no longer silent either.
"Talk to me," he urged calmingly, rubbing up and down her back.
It took a few minutes, but Garnet finally started to calm. She pulled back from George, and wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry, I just..." her lip quivered again.
"Hey," he tipped her chin up to look at him, "Calm down, I got you." He kissed her on the forehead. "Did something happen in class?" he asked, then a little less calm, asked "Did Flint do something?"
"No, it wasn't Flint," she sighed shakily. "I told you about my predictions and visions during Divination class, right?"
"Yeah," he said questioningly, "Like you've had a few, mostly minor ones, why?"
She couldn't look at him. "I think I had a major vision today."
"Oh yeah? Does it have anything to do with the Heir of Slytherin?" George asked.
"I..I don't know. But it involved your sister." a tear escaped. She felt George tense up. "You need to not worry about me and keep her at arms reach at all times."
"What was in your vision?" George urged.
Garnet shook her head. She didn't want to relive it right now. The giant snakes eyes haunted her.
"Garnet! This is my little sister we're talking about, tell me what you saw!" he held onto her elbows firmly, insisting she tell him everything.
"George...you're hurting me." she gasped as his grip on her elbows tightened.
George became aware of what he was doing and let her go quickly. "I'm sorry, love." he bowed his head, and closed his eyes, "please..."
Garnet took his hands in hers, "It's some sort of big, giant snake, and it takes her. It sounds crazy, but I've learned not to ignore crazy in this place."
She watched as George thought about this for a moment.
"We should tell Snape," he came to the conclusion.
"But what if..." she began doubting herself, "what if it doesn't happen? Then we'll have wasted the professors time for nothing." Garnet teared up again.
"I'd rather waste their time and nothing happen, than not tell them and my little sister get taken." George furrowed his brow, tugging at her to follow him.
Garnet nodded, and noticed Severus coming around the corner. He had heard everything, that much she figured.
"Professor..." George started, but Snape held up a hand, stopping him.
"I heard, Mister Weasley, the other teachers and I are already on high alert, but I will make mention to Professor McGonagall about your sister." Snape said without a hint of emotion.
George nodded, he turned to go back into the Great Hall with Garnet, but she held back, wanting to talk to Severus alone.
George brushed a tear from her cheek, kissed her on the forehead and headed into the Great Hall.
Garnet waited until he was through the door before turning back to Severus.
"Sev, why on Earth would Professor McGonagall care or be worried about something I may have seen? Why would she believe it? I'm just a student." Garnet wrung her hands.
Snape shook his head, "Professor Trewlaney has kept record of all the students who have provided accurate premonitions and readings. Your name has come across a few times. That indicates we should pay attention to anything you see."
Garnet nodded, still looking distraught.
Snape sighed, "We will do everything we can to make sure every student is safe." he said, then stepped closer to her. He looked around quickly. Snape gave Garnet a quick hug to reassure her.
Garnet smiled as they parted. "It's been a while since you've done that."
Severus cleared his throat. "Yes well, you are a student, it is inappropriate." He smirked at her. "You were about two feet shorter last time I did that."
"Well I am fifteen, a growth spurt was bound to happen." she stuck her tongue out at him.
Snape nodded, "Go on, finish your lunch. I'm sure Weasley is waiting for you."
Garnet waved and entered the Great Hall, a little happier.

"All students need to report to their Common Rooms immediately." Madam Pince, the librarian announced in a panicked tone.
Garnet, George and Fred looked up in alarm.
They did as they were told. As they came to where they parted ways, George held onto her hand.
"As soon as I can, I'll come for you." he said. Garnet nodded.
She kissed him quickly, "Stay safe." She said to him and Fred.
Fred nodded.
"Straight to your Common Room." George said insistently.
"You too!" Garnet squeezed his hand, then took off running to the dungeon with the other Slytherin.
"Come on," Fred pulled George once Garnet was down the stairs and out of sight.
As soon as they were through the portrait, they saw their brother, Percy.
"There you two are," he looked around, "Where are Ron, Ginny and Harry?"
George's chest tightened. 'Ginny...' He hadn't told anyone else about Garnet's vision.
Many hours later, Professor McGonagall came into the Gryffindor Common Room.
"Everyone, your attention please, everything is fine but I wish for you all to remain here until I return." she turned to the Weasley's, "Would you boys please follow me."
To say that there was a joyous reunion happening in the Hospital Wing would be an understatement. George, Fred and Percy were hugging Ginny in turn, and Mrs. Weasley was in tears. Ron came in and told the Twins all about the adventure he and Harry had.
Once Mrs. Weasley had calmed down, Ginny and Ron were resting, and Harry had joined them to get bandaged up as well, George approached Professor McGonagall.
"Professor, is there a way I can talk to Garnet? She would want to know Ginny's safe." he asked.
Professor looked at him, "I'm sure Professor Snape will have taken care of..."
"I have taken the liberty, Mr. Weasley," Professor Snape entered, Garnet following behind.
Professor McGonagall shook her head disapprovingly, then left.
Garnet took George's hand, and followed him to Ginny.
"Oh Ginny!" she wrapped her arms around the young girl. "I'm so glad Harry got to you in time."
Garnet was so relieved everything worked out.
A little later, George walked Garnet back to the dungeons.
"I think I'm going to give up Divination class." Garnet said.
George looked at her like she was mad. "Why would you do that? You've had more correct premonitions in two years than Professor Trewlaney has had in her life."
"I don't like it, George. Especially when there's nothing I can really do to stop it." Garnet shook her head.
"But..."George stopped. He knew she'd come around on her own. She could be a great Seer one day. "No need to jump into it right away. We need to finish out the school year. Final exams start really soon." He kissed her on the forehead. "Get some sleep. I'm going to go tell my parents goodnight as well. I'm beat."
Garnet nodded.
George watched her walk around the corner, then turned to walk back to the Hospital Wing.
Flint was standing at the bottom of the stairs, smirking.
"Flint," George nodded at him as he walked past him.
"You know there's something going on between your girlfriend and Snape, right?" Flint grinned.
George froze. He knew no one was supposed to know about them being related. "No, there isn't." George shook his head.
"Go ahead and deny it, but I saw Snape hug Prince. Snape sure as hell doesn't hug people, let alone students."
George laughed, that made some sense, but he played dumb. "You're insane." He continued walking.
"Something is going on between them. I'll find out what, trust me." Flint sneered and headed for the Common Room.
"Great," George muttered to himself. He made note to mention something to Garnet later.

Garnet, George, Fred, Ron, Ginny, Hermione and Harry climbed into the car on the Hogwarts Express.
"I'm so glad this year is over." Fred sighed.
"Tell me about it, finals were brutal." Garnet relaxed against George's shoulder.
"How was Divination exam?" George whispered in her ear.
Garnet shrugged. "I'm not sure." she closed her eyes. "I saw some sort of an accident in the crystal ball, but I didn't recognize anything."
"You should have gotten top marks regardless, given the visions you saw this year." He twirled his fingers in her hair.
Garnet shrugged again. "It'll be nice to have a break from school for a couple months."
They traveled on a while, and the conversations died down.
Garnet felt George shifting his weight. She looked up and saw George and Fred making eye contact, like they were communicating without saying a word. Then she saw Fred reaching towards his suitcase, the one she remembered they had transported Filibuster Fireworks to school the year prior.
Garnet tensed up as she watched Fred.
'He wouldn't... would he? No... oh God, please not on the train.' Garnet thought to herself.
As if slow motion, Garnet saw Fred flip open one of the locks on the suitcase, and she stood and made a mad dash out the door of the compartment, leaving George confused, watching her as she ran down the train, fireworks filling the car, as everyone was screaming and laughing.
