Emma

"Maybe you should be taking the next step."

I looked at my mother in surprise when she said it. We had been talking about how things would continue between me and Killian. Now that he knew the truth, I was less afraid to be with him. I actually wanted to be with him this time.

"You think I should be the one to ask him on a date?" I asked her, overwhelmed. "But I don't even know if he'll say yes..."

"I think he will," Elsa answered before Mary Margaret could answer. "Why wouldn't he? He pushed you until you told him what was wrong so why would he back down now?"

"Exactly," Mary Margaret said, smiling. "You should ask him. This is the modern world, so a woman can ask a man out."

Elsa chuckled softly at Mary Margaret's statement. "Well, if that was normal in our world, the wedding would have happened faster."

I laughed and shook my head, still not knowing if it was the right thing to do. Killian wasn't here in Storybrooke for that long. What if it would hurt his pride if I would ask him?

"He'll probably be in the diner, playing darts or something," Henry answered. "You can go see him, before you bring me to school. I'll just wait for you in the car."

I looked at Henry in surprise. He didn't seem to have any problems with the fact that I was going to take the next step with Killian... Was he really okay with it?

Henry walked over to me and took my arm, dragging me with him. I slowly walked along with him, feeling more afraid as I walked down the stairs. Elsa may be right, but I was still afraid that Killian would say no to my question.

I took a deep breath, pushing away my fear. If I didn't do it, it probably would happen. Because of my serious personality, Killian would know better then to distract me with something like that. But now I was about to distract myself, though it was important that I found the snow queen again and stopped her before she could do anything else.

Henry stayed close to me, as if he thought that I would run away when I had the chance. When I stopped my car at the diner, I got out and Henry did too. I took a step, but stopped in the middle of the street.

"You sure you're okay with this?" I asked Henry, taking my last chance to back out of it.

"No," Henry honestly admitted. "But I want you to be happy."

I bit my lip, not knowing what to say. So he was doing it for me. If he had any saying in it, he would tell me that he didn't want me to date Killian. Still, I knew the two also got along together very well.

Henry gave me a gentle push and I was forced to walk into the diner. I opened the door and, like Henry had said, Killian was in the back, playing darts. I took a deep breath and walked over to him. When the door closed, Killian turned around and watched me as I walked over to him.

"The Snow Queen turn up?" Killian asked immediately, without giving me a chance to say anything. "Did I miss the search party?"

I did my best to keep looking at him, but a big part of me wanted to run out of the diner.

"Oh, n-nothing to miss," I answered nervously. "There's no sign of that ice witch yet."

"That's all right, Swan," Killian said, still not noticing that I was acting differently. "You'll find her."

"Yeah, I know," I sighed, cursing myself for being so nervous around him. "That's not why I'm here."

Killian looked at me curriously. "Then why are you here?" he asked me, as if I only talked to him when there was another villain that needed to be defeated.

"Well, I thought about what you said last night about being a survivor, and you're right," I said.

"It's like I said, love, you don't have to worry about me," Killian said, turning back to the board again.

He started throwing darts again, not taking any of the hints I gave him. Well, it was time to just say it directly then. If he wouldn't take a hint, them I just had to say it. I took a deep breath before saying it.

"Good, 'cause I'm here to ask you out," I said, fast and all in one breath.

Now there was no turning back anymore. Now I had to wait for Killian's reaction. When I said it, Killian was about to throw a dart. He let go and threw it right against the wall, instead of the board. He turned back to me, surprised and a bit flustered.

"To dinner or something," I said, still feeling nervous.

"Shouldn't I be the one to ask you out?" Killian asked, instead of answering my question.

I smiled, feeling less nervous about it. "Should have known you'd be old fashioned, given you age... What are you, like 300?"

That was something I tried not to think about too much. He was very old, but he had the same age as I did. The actually age difference was even more then the difference between my parents and me.

"Curses and neverland may have given me experience," Killian answered with his charming smile. "But as you can see, I've retained my youthful glow."

I scoffed, but I couldn't help to smile. His self-appreciation was always something that made my smile, even though it could also be very arrogant.

"I happily accept, on one condition," Killian continued. "You let me plan the evening."

"I know how to plan a date," I said, offended.

"You know how to chase a monster," Killian corrected me. "I know how to plan an evening out."

I felt my cheeks glowing and turning red. I softly chuckled as I still felt nervous, even though he had excepted me.

"Well, I don't pillage and pulunder on the first date, just so you know," I said flirty and joking.

Killian's expression changed and he leaned forward to me, to look me in the eyes.

"Well, that's because you haven't been out with me yet," he told me, his voice sounded lower and more flirty then I had ever done before.

I chuckled and felt my cheeks glowing even more. Well, I did not get to choose what we were going to do to night, but I trusted Killian enough to know he would come up with msomething good. I knew very well that the pillige and plundering was not going to be part of the date.

"See you tonight," Killian said, leaning forward and kissing me.

I gave him one last smile and walked out the door. Now the only thing that I had to do was to find something suitable to wear. I sighed and felt overwhelmed again. The only first dated I ever had was with Neal and Walsh. The date with Neal wasn't anything special, because we were both thieves and didn't even much special clothes. My first date with Walsh was... Well, it was great, but thinking back to it, I wished I had never met him. All this time, I had been dating a man that was just trying to keep me from remembering who I was.

When I saw the car, Henry wasn't there anymore. I shrugged and walked over to it. Henry probably went to school on his own. I knew he just pretended that he wanted me to take him to school, because he always wanted to go alone.

A splashing sound came from under my feet when I took another step. I looked down and I was standing in a huge puddle.

"What the hell?" I asked confused, looking around.

I was almost certain it had to be the Snow Queen. There had been no rain last night and there was only a puddle at my car. Just like there was only ice around my car that one night... I was starting to wonder if that ice had came from Elsa, or from the other snow queen...
