A/N ~ Some mature content insinuated.
I also want to take a moment to mention, in case you hadn't noticed already, that some of J.K.'s dates on certain days are incorrect. For example, Halloween was on a Monday in 1994 and in her book she mentions they didn't sleep in late like they usually do on the weekends. I'm sorry, for the most part I try to keep to the original story, but I am one that has to keep to the actual calendar. (It's a pet peeve of mine when things don't add up.)
Other than that, the rest of the story will stay with the book pace.
~ October 31, 1994 ~
Classes had been cancelled the next day, so that students could enter for the Triwizard Tournament at their leisure.
Garnet headed for breakfast bright and early, hoping to catch up to some of her friends.
She said a quick hello to Hermione, as she joined her, Ron and Harry in the Entrance Hall, watching other students mill about.
After the late night "talk" that she and Severus had had the night before, she was so tired she didn't mind just listening as Harry, Ron and Hermione discussing the age line.
"They're not bloody likely to actually trick the age line. I mean, they're well versed in their trickery, but not that good. What do you think, Garnet? Think my brothers can do it?" Ron asked Garnet, but she didn't answer, she just stared off into space, expressionless.
The Trio looked at each other knowingly. Hermione touched Garnet's back, "Garnet?" she said quietly, but still no answer.
"Give her a minute, just don't draw attention." Harry whispered.
"I don't like it when her episodes happen." Ron shook his head.
Hermione rolled her eyes, "Do you think she does?"
"I suppose not." Ron looked around, making sure they weren't drawing attention.
After a few minutes, Garnet started to stir. She took a deep shaky breath and blinked fast a few times.
"I'm sorry," she looked down at her hands, completely embarrassed.
Hermione touched her shoulder. "Nothing to be sorry about, Garnet, at least now we know and won't freak out over it." she said calmly to Garnet. Hermione noticed she was quite pale.
Garnet nodded. Those types of seizures had been coming on so quickly lately that the bracelet Severus had given her didn't register them in time. And more often than not, she was having visions during them.
Coming down the steps from the Fat Lady portrait, Fred, George and Jordan had just finished their aging potion.
Fred and Lee Jordan were ragging on George.
"All I'm saying, is that you left Dinner to walk Garnet back to he Common Room, and didn't get back until well after curfew." Fred raised a brow at him smirking.
"Were you getting into a little trouble of your own?" Lee Jordan grinned.
George shook his head, but couldn't help but smile at the memories of last night.
Garnet unbuttoned his shirt and ran her hands down his chest.
George moved to undo her blouse, but Garnet pushed his hands away as she began nibbling on his neck.
"Love," he moaned as he tried to put his hands on her.
"Shut it Weasley," she pushed him up against the wall with a slight thud, then smiled devilishly up at him from under her lashes. "No touching."
George chuckled, but held his hands up in surrender.
Garnet kissed him roughly, then attacked his neck again. She then started kissing her way down his chest.
Her warm breath on his body made his pants feel tighter. And Garnet knew it.
She began rubbing his hardness through his trousers.
"G-Garnet..."George couldn't think straight. Garnet's hot mouth worked it way back to his neck as her hands continued to work their way down.
"Georgie? You hearing me?" Fred pulled him out of his daydream.
"Yeah, yeah," George said quickly then realized he hadn't. "No...sorry."
Lee Jordan and Fred shared a look. "I said let's get this show on the road!"
George nodded. They walked into the Entrance Hall and started hooting and hollaring.
"We've done it! Just taken it!" Fred whispered to Harry and Ron.
George smiled at Garnet, who shook her head in disapproval.
George put his arm around her and kissed her temple. "Alright love?"
She nodded and smiled at him.
"Are you really going to try and trick the age line? I'd hate to see what happens when you fail." Garnet rolled her eyes.
"When we fail? Love, that hurt." George smirked, "You'll see, we'll do it."
"But the Goblet chooses the ones that are worthy. By trying to cheat the ageline, don't you think that will knock you out of the running due to lieing?" Garnet tried to reason with him.
Hermione just stood there nodding in agreement.
"Nah," Fred and George said in unison.
"Whatever," Garnet kissed George on the cheek then took a step back from him. "Go on then."
Fred grinned at George, then approached the line. He hesitated briefly, then stepped over the line. Convinced, George jumped over the line with him.
Garnet watched in amusement when a loud sizzling sound echoed off the walls and Fred and George were thrown across the room, far away from the Goblet.
Garnet shook her head, knowing something like this would happen. She went to help the Twins up, but couldn't contain her laughter when they both sprouted full white beards.
Everyone was laughing now, including the Twins.
"I did warn you." Professor Dumbledore chuckled.
Apparently a few other students had tried to trick the Age Line as well, with similar results.
"Are you coming up to the Hospital Wing with us?" George asked Garnet, who was still smirking.
"Nah," Garnet grinned, "I'm going to watch others put in."
George nodded, then leaned down for a kiss.
"Nope!" Garnet turned her head, laughing again, "That's so weird, Georgie."
George chuckled, "Yeah, alright."
Garnet tugged on his beard then whispered to him "Get rid of it and then you and I can find a corner to snog in." She winked.
George waved as he and Fred headed off to see Madame Pomfrey, followed by Lee Jordan, who could not stop laughing.
Garnet hung about with Ron, Harry and Hermione. They watched in silence as the students from Beauxbaton filed into the Entrance Hall in two lines and placed their names in the Goblet.
After Ron finished gawking at the girls, the three of them decided to go eat. Garnet waved them on when they asked if she was joining them.
"I want to see who else might put their name in." she grinned.
Garnet found herself a corner and hung out, just watching.
She felt eyes on her and began scanning the room. Standing on the other side of the Entrance Hall, arms crossed over his chest, was Flint. He simply stood there, staring at her.
Garnet shifted uncomfortably, but stared him down. When he started towards her, she felt a sense of panic, but stood straight, head held high.
"Prince," he smirked as he approached.
"Flint," Garnet carried on like his presence didn't make her uneasy and raised a brow at him, "You putting your name in?"
"Of course," he said cockily, "I'm fairly sure I'll be chosen."
Garnet rolled her eyes, "Uh-huh."
There was a commotion as Cedric was brought in by a bunch of Hufflepuffs.
He saw Garnet and grinned as he walked towards the Goblet.
She smiled back at him and he dropped his name inside.
He looked back at her then, and realized who was standing in front of her.
Cedric approached them.
"Flint." Cedric said, without a trace of friendliness behind it.
"Diggory," Flint narrowed his eyes, "We were having a conversation until you interrupted."
"Oh?" Cedric looked to Garnet knowingly.
"I don't really think there's anything more I wanted to say to you," she said and walked away with Cedric.
Flint stood there and growled.
Cedric walked Garnet to the Slytherin Table.
"Thanks for that." Garnet smiled.
"No problem." Cedric gave her one of his dashing smiles.
"So you did it," she stated, "I'm glad. I think you'd do well."
Cedric scratched the back of his head and blushed slightly, "There are so many others more worthy," he shrugged.
Garnet just shook her head. "I'll be rooting for you."
Cedric smiled, then leaned down and gave her a peck on the cheek.
Garnet's smile dropped, "Ced..." she said in a warning tone.
"It was just a friendly peck, Garnet. I don't expect it in return. Trust me, I know you're taken." he said with a smile, but the tone in his voice was off.
Garnet smiled and nodded her head, "Okay." she said quietly and he walked off.
She sat down to her plate, but couldn't eat. She furrowed her brow, thinking. Friends gave hugs and stuff. This was no different. But something in her gut told her for him it was different.
"What do you suppose that was about?" Ron watched Cedric walk away from Garnet as he swallowed a mouthful of egg.
"Ronald, eat your food, don't inhale it." Hermione scolded, "Remember they dated briefly? Rumor has it he wants her back."
Harry shook his head. "Does she know this?"
"Not as far as I can tell," Hermione shrugged.
"Does George?" Ron grimaced.
"Do you think he'd be okay with them being friends if he did?" Hermione gave him a look.
"I 'spose not." Ron shook his head.
"And now there's Pucey," Harry scoffed. They all turned to see Adrian settle down beside Garnet and they started a conversation.
Hermione smiled, "George doesn't have to worry about Pucey." She said knowingly.
"Why?" The boys asked in unison.
Hermione's eyes went wide, "I just know, he's just her friend. Nothing more."
They were happy with that answer, so dropped the subject.
"Let's go see Hagrid," Harry suggested, and the Trio took off out of the Great Hall with a quick wave to Garnet.
Garnet smiled and waved back.
"So..." Adrian smirked at her, "I heard a Ravenclaw twittering on to her friend about a certain Hufflepuff that snogged you this morning?" he raised an eyebrow at her.
Garnet blushed, "He kissed my cheek, it was a friendly kiss." her face fell, then she immediately thought of George's reaction if he heard about it from someone else that way. "It literally just happened not ten minutes ago, and already people are trying to start issues." She grabbed a couple bagels and stood up.
"Where are you going?" Adrian asked.
"I have to go tell George before someone else does." She shook her head. "Honestly, he gets so jealous, and I don't really need him getting mad at me or Cedric for an innocent peck on the cheek."
"Good luck, hun," Adrian chuckled as Garnet ran off.
Garnet made it up the stairs and rounded the corner, heading for the Hospital wing, when she ran into what felt like a brick wall, causing her to fall on her backside, dropping the bagels.
"Bloody hell!" Garnet sighed, then reached to pick up her bagels.
She turned and someone was handing her a bagel.
Garnet looked up to deep brown eyes.
"I am very sorry, miss," the Durmstrang boy said. Garnet took the bagel, and his hand went to her elbow, helping her up. "Are you alright?"
"I..I'm fine, thank you." she said.
He smiled at her. "I'm Filip Dragomitrov."
"Garnet Prince," she smiled back. Then remembered where she was going, "I'm sorry, I need to go. Thank you." and she raced down the hall.
"I'm going to kill him," George fumed a while later, finally beardless.
"NO!" Garnet put her hands on his chest. She, George and Fred were standing in the Corridor near the Second Floor girls lavatory.
"That's not why I told you! It was an innocent friendly peck on the cheek. I only told you because apparently people are making it seem more scandalous than that, and I didn't want you hearing their version." she explained.
George frowned at her, "So you weren't going to tell me?"
Garnet felt a fight coming on, but she was honest with him. "It hardly seemed worth mentioning. He's just a friend."
George looked away from her, towards his brother.
Fred looked his brother in the eyes, and mouthed "Calm down" at him.
George sighed and looked back at Garnet, who was now looking at the floor. He saw sadness etched across her face.
"Fine," George said. "It's fine, love. You say it was a friendly peck on the cheek, I believe you. I'll ignore whatever anyone else says."
Garnet smiled at him and wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her nose in his neck. She sighed in relief.
George wrapped his arms around her and pressed his cheek to the top of her head.
He looked at his brother, who nodded.
Fred was impressed how controlled his brother had gotten of his jealousy. It was something he talked to him about quite often.
"Okay you two..." Fred chuckled. "Reckon we have enough time for breakfast?"
Garnet shook her head as she released George. "Sorry, I had tried to bring you two bagels, but I ran into someone and dropped them all over the floor."
George and Fred chuckled.
"Ran into someone?" Fred smirked.
"Yeah, a Durmstrang student." Garnet shrugged.
George grinned, "That big bloke that was just in here?"
"Oh, possibly. He was coming from this direction." Garnet said.
Garnet took George's hand and the three of them wandered down the corridor.
"So what do we want to do until lunch?" Fred yawned.
They passed a statue that Garnet remembered a secret passage was behind. She grinned and let go of George abruptly, making him stop quick.
She was already through the entrance, giggling, when he turned towards her.
"Ah," Fred grinned, "We haven't done that in a while." he looked at his brother.
George was grinning as well. They both took off after her.
Once inside, they couldn't see anything.
"Lumos!" George lit the end of his wand. He couldn't see Garnet anywhere. "Garnet?"
"Come and find me!" they heard her voice echo in the passageway.
George and Fred chuckled. This part of the passage had three different directions one could go. Fred pulled out his wand and lit the end.
"Split up?" they said in unison, then they each took a different direction.
Garnet had lost track of how many turns she had taken, everything looked the same in the dark. She was now leaning against the wall, listening as carefully as she could.
Then she heard them, foot steps. 'Only one set, they must have split up.' she thought to herself. She watched down the path it the steps were coming from and noticed a dim light. It got brighter and brighter, and she knew they were coming this way.
Her fight or flight instincts were trying to kick in, but she was keeping them at bay. It was a game, after all.
She hid quietly in a divet in the wall, and held her breath while one of the Twins slowly walked by her. Her heart was beating hard in her chest.
Garnet was almost in the clear, the Twin was practically at the bend, when she got the feeling she did right before a seizure.
Afraid to be alone in the passage during an episode, she took a step from where she was hiding and tried to call out for George before she fell to the cold, hard cement.
"George..."
Fred turned towards the direction he had just come from. Garnet's voice was barely audible, but he headed back that way when he heard another noise.
He kept walking slowly, until he kicked something that wasn't there before. His blood ran cold.
"Please don't be Garnet, please don't be Garnet," he cast his wand down and saw Garnet laying on the ground. He sighed in relief when he realized he had only kicked her leg, but relief disappeared quickly when he realized she was having an episode.
"George! George, come quick!" he yelled and got down beside Garnet. She wasn't convulsing, that was a good sign. He hated those episodes, though he'd never admit it to her.
He heard footsteps running in their direction. "Over here Georgie!" he shouted, and the light from George's wand came into view.
George quickly got down beside her.
"Do you suppose we should get her out of here? She wakes up in the dark with us hovering over her, she might freak out." Fred suggested.
But George shook his head. "Snape said it's best to leave her where she falls, and just watch."
Garnet moaned, making them both jump.
George brought the light up to Garnet's face, illuminating his own in the process. He watched Garnet's eyes open and focus on him.
"Love?" he asked quietly.
"George?" she grimaced. Slowly, George helped her up. "Ugh... my head." she put her hand on the back of her head where she hit the floor.
"You'll probably get a headache, these floors aren't made of pillows," Fred joked.
"Haha," Garnet stood and steadied herself by holding onto their arms. She pouted, "I was having fun."
George chuckled, "So were we, but it's okay." he kissed her forehead. "Let's go get you something for the pain, and hopefully it's almost time for Lunch!"
The Halloween Feast seemed to drag on forever. Garnet had sat with Fred and George from the beginning, due to the Great Hall being so packed by the time they got there.
Once the plates had cleared after dinner and Dumbledore, Madame Maxime and Karkaroff stood in front of the entire student body. Practically everyone went silent.
"Just another moment, I believe, and we will know our three Champions." Dumbledore gave instructions for whomever won, and doused the lights in the Great Hall.
All that could be seen was the flames of the Goblet of Fire.
Finally, red flames began to dance, and one by one papers shot out of the goblet.
Victor Krum, Fleur Delacour, and Cedric Diggory's names were selected.
As Cedric headed for the Professor's table, George felt Garnet's hand he had been holding go slack in his. He looked at her curiously. She was having an episode. She sat there, unfocused. George didn't want to draw attention, so began chatting with Fred.
And then it happened. The Goblet turned red once more. Dumbledore and the rest of the Professors looked on confused. The hall was dead silent.
A paper shot out of the flames and Dumbledore grabbed it.
George felt Garnet shudder.
Garnet turned towards the Golden Trio and with horror in her eyes, yelled, "Harry!"
"Harry Potter!" Dumbledore called.
