November 12, 1994~

Garnet sat with George and Fred for breakfast as usual. Harry had managed to come to breakfast early, despite it being a Saturday.

"How's it going Harry?" she asked as he sat down.

Apparently Garnet was one of few that really, truly believed he didn't put his own name in.

"I'm fine. Things are dying down a bit." he looked at his plate.

"They won't be for long..." Hermione sat the Daily Prophet down in front of him.

Everyone began reading Rita Skeeter's article.

"Fabulous, just fabulous." Harry got up and left.

Garnet turned towards George. "You need to talk to Ron. I hate seeing them not talking to one another."

"Love," George shook his head, "Nothing I say will make Ron talk to Harry."

"But he's angry over nothing! Harry didn't put his name in the Goblet!" Garnet clenched her fists.

"Yeah, I know." George replied and went back to his pancakes.

Garnet eyed him. Hermione sat quietly, watching the exchange that was about to happen.

"You do believe he didn't put his name in, right?" Garnet asked calmly.

George froze. How their Saturday together would play out depended on his answer right now.

"I...yeah, I do believe he didn't do it." George nodded.

Garnet narrowed her eyes at him. "Good, then you'll talk to Ron." She got up and headed out of the Great Hall.

George sighed. Fred smirked and shook his head.

Garnet walked the halls a little while, not sure what to do with herself just yet. She wanted to find Harry, but she thought maybe it'd be best to leave him to himself for a bit.

Cedric spotted her and approached.

"Haven't really gotten to talk to you much since I got chosen." He grinned at her. "I wouldn't have put my name in if you hadn't encouraged me."

Garnet smiled at him, "I'm glad you got chosen, Ced, I know you'll do..." her eyes caught on the badge he was wearing.

Support Cedric Diggory the real Hogwarts Champion!

"Are you serious?!" Garnet looked up at him in anger. She shoved the badge, making him take a step back. On contact the badge changed to say Potter Stinks!

Cedric looked at her sheepishly, "A couple kids gave it to me."

Garnet was fuming. "You all really seem to think he wanted this. You all are so mad he stole your glory as Hogwarts Champion, none of you gave one single thought to the fact that someone else put his name in the Goblet, probably to get him killed."

Cedric's face dropped. "Come on, Harry has been doing whatever he likes for the last three years, you can't honestly tell me that you believe he didn't figure out a way to put his name in that Goblet?"

"He's fourteen years old, Cedric! Fred and George couldn't figure out how to put their names in, how do you think Harry would be able to figure it out! He swears up and down that he didn't do it, and I for one, believe him." Garnet turned away from him. She was getting herself worked up. She really was worried about Harry.

"Garnet, come on..." Cedric called after her.

She turned down the corridor heading to the Transfiguration Classroom, she just needed away from other people.

But then she spotted Ron with Neville.

"You!" she narrowed her eyes at him.

"What I do now?" Ron got defensive.

Garnet was now on the verge of tears. "You call yourself a best friend." she started, hands shaking, "He needs you right now, and you don't want to believe him. You're jealous! Get over yourself!"

Ron got really red in the face and drug Neville down the hall.

"Miss Prince, is there anyone else you wish to tell off this morning?" she heard his voice behind her.

"Professor Snape," she turned and he took an instinctive step back. "You could do something about these horrible badges being passed around, but you choose not to. You're just as bad as the Slytherin."

Snape stared at her. "You are a Slytherin as well, don't forget that."

Garnet shook her head, "You know, I really wish I wasn't." Tears finally fell, so she hurriedly walked away from him.

Severus stood there, shock on his face.

A few hours later, Garnet sat on the ground by a large tree just outside of the Courtyard. She couldn't wrap her head around how no body believed that Harry didn't put his name in. This boy had been through so much in his life already. He had even mentioned hoping for an incident-free year.

"Garnet," she wiped her face when she heard Cedric coming.

"What." Garnet didn't look at him.

Cedric got down in front of her. "Been looking for you." he sighed, "It's getting chilly out, you should have more than a sweater on."

"I'm fine." she looked at her hands.

Cedric took a deep breath. "I don't like arguing with you."

"Wouldn't have to argue if you believed the truth." she stood up, ready to leave.

"Garnet, come on." he stood and grabbed her wrist.

She shook him off and changed the subject. "Have you prepared for the First Challenge?"

Cedric cocked his head to the side. "I've still got twelve days. I think I'll be fine."

Garnet nodded. "I hope so." She walked away.

~November 24th, 1994~

Today was the day of the of the First Triwizard Task.

Garnet felt like she was going to be sick. Harry had told her that he and Hermione were practicing what he was going to do. It still didn't put her mind at ease.

Garnet, George, Fred, Hermione and Ron all huddled in the stands, waiting for everything to begin. They watched as a Swedish Short-snout was brought out.

"Who's first, do you reckon?" Ron said out loud.

"It'll be Cedric," Garnet stated. They all turned their eyes to her. "I saw it about an hour ago. I don't know how it turns out, but I vividly saw Cedric against this one."

And true enough, Garnet's vision happened. Out stepped Cedric.

Garnet watched as Cedric transfigured a rock in to a black lab. The dog began barking at the dragon, distracting it, and he made a break for the egg.

Just as he picked up the egg, the short-snout turned and breathed fire at him.

Garnet gasped when Cedric's robes were in flames.

"He'll be fine, love," George assured her.

Garnet tried to calm down, but waiting for Harry's turn to come made her tense.

They all watched as Harry came out. He looked absolutely calm, but she knew he had to be terrified. She would have been!

"Accio Firebolt!"

Garnet turned towards Hermione. "That's genius!" she exclaimed.

Hermione grinned and nodded.

Harry quickly retrieved the egg and came out of the task with just a cut on the shoulder. There was murmuring as the judges delegated.

"There's no way," Ron muttered.

"No way what?" Garnet turned towards him.

"He'd be mad to put his name in for something like this." Ron shook his head.

Garnet sighed, smiling.

Hermione and Ron decided to go to the tent to see how Harry was doing.

"Wait for me guys, I want to check on Cedric." Garnet got up.

She gave George a quick peck on the lips.

George watched his girlfriend walk away.

"You're getting much better." Fred nudged his shoulder.

George nodded, "I'm trying. But I heard from someone that Diggory wants her back."

Fred shook his head, "I wouldn't worry about it. She loves you."

Garnet, Hermione and Ron walked in to the tent. The girls watched as Ron and Harry made up. Hermione was overcome with emotions, "You two are so stupid!" She ran from the tent.

Harry looked at Garnet and smiled.

Garnet gave him a gentle hug. "I'm so glad you're alright."

"Thanks." he hugged her back.

She smiled, "I'll let you two talk. I'm going to check on Cedric."

Garnet walked over to the cubicle Diggory was sitting in, while Madame Pomfrey tended to him.

She saw where his face was burned.

"Oh Ced," she gasped.

He looked up at her. "It looks worse than it feels." he smiled.

"Sit still." Pomfrey ordered as she administered an orange salve by his temple.

Once she was done, she told him to take it easy and walked away.

"I've got to head back to the Champions tent." he said, "Walk with me?"

Garnet nodded and watched as he picked up his egg.

Both Harry and Cedric were in a meeting in the Champions tent. Garnet stood outside the tent with Ron, waiting for everyone to come out.

"Hey Garnet," Ron said quietly to her, "Rumor has it Diggory is going to try and win you back."

Garnet furrowed her brows, "I doubt that. We're just friends, Ron." she said.

Ron nodded. "Just don't hurt my brother, would you."

"Ron..." Garnet was taken aback. She had no intention to hurt George. Why on earth would he think she'd leave George for Cedric? They were just friends.

At last the Champions emerged, and Cedric walked right up to Garnet.

"Do you have to head back right away? Can we talk?" He asked, smiling.

Garnet shrugged, "What's up?"

Cedric took her hand and walked her towards the other side of the tent, away from the crowds heading back to the Castle.

"Garnet..." Cedric started, but just stared at her.

"What's wrong Ced?" she tilted her head and watched him.

He shuffled from foot to foot, "I just, this task made me really start thinking about something."

"Whatever it is you can talk to me about anything." She smiled.

Fred and George came down from the stands and spotted Cedric pulling Garnet off to the side.

George had a horrible gut feeling. He and Fred made their way towards them.

They round the corner of the tent just in time to see Cedric quickly put his hand behind Garnet's neck and pull her towards him, planting a kiss on her lips.

The look of shock on Garnet's face told George she hadn't been expecting it.

He watched as Garnet grabbed his wrist and pulled away from the kiss, looking upset.

"Diggory!" George yelled, and they both turned towards him as he ran up and got between him and Garnet, and then shoved Cedric hard in the chest. "Back off my girlfriend!"

Garnet looked between the two of them. She was going to step in, but Fred grabbed her by the shoulders and held her against him.

"I was just..." Cedric started, but George shoved him again.

"George! He's still injured. Come on, leave him be and let's go get something to eat." Garnet tried.

George turned towards her. "Garnet, this is it, the line is drawn. I don't want you being friends with him at all."

Garnet looked at him, horror on her face. "You're making me choose?"

George crossed his arms and nodded. "I can't trust him around you apparently."

Garnet glanced at Cedric, who looked at her longingly. George was right. How had she not seen that Cedric still wanted to be with her. She was so naive thinking they could be friends.

"I'm sorry Cedric. I would expect the same respect from him." a tear slipped down her cheek. "I was happy being friends. You ruined that." Garnet turned towards George. "Let's go."

George nodded and put his arm around her, leading her away from Cedric. Fred stood there a moment, glaring at him, before turning to follow his brother and best friend.

George watched Garnet as they sat in an empty classroom. She looked so sad.

"Garnet?" he said, and waited for her to look at him. The look on her face was one he couldn't read, but he had an inkling. Trembling, he started his speech "Garnet...if you...don't want to be with me anymore..." he gulped.

"Don't." She said. "How on earth do you still want to be with me?" She began to cry hard.

He stood from the desk he was sitting on and crossed over to hers, standing in front of her.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"I let my guard down and let him kiss me." She put covered her face with her hands.

George shook his head, "I watched what he did, he clearly grabbed and kissed you. You were surprised and then you broke away from him. I don't blame you."

"I just wanted to stay friends, why was I so blind to his advances?" she cried some more. He put his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.

"Like I said beginning of the year. I trust you. It's them I don't trust." he sighed.

Garnet nodded her head in his chest.

Fred poked his head in then, "Hey Georgie, we need to go nick some food from the kitchen for Harry's party."

"Just a minute Freddie," he said.

"No..." Garnet pulled away from him, "Go on. Go celebrate with Harry." She smiled.

"You sure? We can stand here and talk some more if you want." he looked into her eyes.

She nodded. "Go on."

George ran his thumb over her tear stained cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too." she sighed.

He kissed her gently.
