The door opened, and Blake saw Neo sitting on the bed. Her mismatched eyes quickly hardened as she picked up her parcel and stood up from her spot. Images of what she had seen, what the woman looks like without her "Mask." In all honesty, it scared Blake. Before she could say anything, Neo ripped the blade out and charged at Blake, pinning her against the door and pressing the sharp edge against her neck. Her Aura straining against the steel as it threatened to cut open her skin.
She could feel the anger coming off of Neo as she opened her mouth and spoke with her strained voice. Blake had to hold her breath and tune the beating of her heart so she could Neo the smaller woman.
"She will never know…"
"Are you sure this will work?" Ironwood asked while Ozpin had his back to him. Outside, Ozpin could see the construction of temporary housing the size of an entire city. Not only were they more exposed to Grimm that wandered the tundra of Solitas without the help of Huntsmen and military personnel manning the rapidly expanding territory, but they were also outside of the life-sustaining heaters that kept Mantle from freezing over completely.
Looking up at the shattered moon, Ozpin remembered when the world was so much more than just a remnant of the past. "It has to, its the only thing we have left."
"We have Ruby, we can put an end to this right now,"
"It's not that easy, James," Ozpin said, trying to calm his friend.
"It never is with you,"
She ran down the street towards an apartment building. The Grimm were closing in, and she needed to get as many people to the evacuation zone as possible. From above, she saw shadows of Nevermores and Griffons starting to get ahead of her as she saw a gathering of people leaving the building to head for safety. Launching herself into the air, she fired rounds behind her to get there first.
Landing in front of the ground, she braced herself to fight the flying Grimm when the sky was filled with rockets and gunfire, cutting down the smaller Grimm and gaining the attention of the bigger ones. Off in the distance, the Mantle of Responsibility was firing its cannons all around the city. She saw the horde that was coming, and they did not have long until they got here.
"We've got evacuation ships in the park, run and don't stop!" Yang shouted as she pointed in the direction. "Is there anyone else in the building?"
The guy she was talking to looked around at the group with armed guards before looking back at her. "There's a guy on the fourth floor, I don't see him here,"
"I'll get him," Yang then pushed past them as the group began to rush to the evacuation zone. Sprinting up the stairs to the fourth floor, she began to run past the opened doors until she found the one that was closed. Knocking on the door, Yang yelled for the person to let her in. After a few moments of silence, she decided that forgiveness was easier than permission. Kicking in the door down, she walked in and was met with gunfire.
Raven flew towards the CCT in Haven and landed without anyone seeing her. Hopefully, she could get in and out without anyone catching her. It would not be a hard feat considering everyone's attention should be pointed either towards the armies fighting or the massive Grimm that just came out of the bay nearby. The courtyard was empty, and Raven rushed to the door. Lionheart's office was on the other side of the building, so it should be easy to get the key and get the Relic. Opening the doors, Raven froze at the scene in front of her eyes.
Corpses lined the walls around the room, all of them charred to a crisp and pinned to the wall. Three children with blood running down their faces from numbers carved into their foreheads. Lionheart lay on the floor dead and two people standing next to his body with bones in their hands. The two people looked up from their work, and Raven saw herself in the sunglasses. No one moved for the longest time until the man with gray hair let the bones drop from his hands as he stood up. "Well," he said with a small smirk on his lips. "This is awkward," The woman next to him stood up as well, picking up a sword that laid on the floor next to her.
"Why do you think she's here, brother mine?" She asked as they began to separate and walk towards her.
"Well, let's see," The man said as he flicked his hands and knives appeared in each of them. "She's either someone who's lost her way, or she's looking for something," Raven began to back up slowly. She could feel how dangerous these two were. She gripped the hangle of her sword and tried to keep both of them in eyesight.
"Let's find out."
Weiss sat in front of the screen in front of her. A dozen different files open and a pile of messages getting bigger by the hour as she ignored them while staring at the opened screen with her brother on the other end. "I need those research notes," Weiss demanded as she stared at him.
"And I've told you four times, I can't give them to you," The calmness of how spoke was slowly chipping away the little bit of patience she had left.
"Whitely, I swear to god…"
"So sorry, dear sister," He said with no sincerity in his voice. "But since you are no longer actually part of the family business because of your life choices, I have no reason to disclose company research notes to someone from the military,"
Slamming her hands on the table as her hearing cut out again, she leaned forward so she could stare right at him. "Listen here, you piece of shit," She growled, earning a shocked look from him. "I know you've been smuggling Dust out of the kingdom int he name of profits, so you send those files to me or there won't be a company for you to control by this time tomorrow,"
Salem looked down at the chessboard as she moved the white knight into the middle of the battlefield. Of everything that happened, why could she not see this coming? Moving from the board, she looked up at the shattered moon, even after the millennia she stared at it, it looked different somehow.
"What have you done?"
She sat on her small island, surrounded by rivers, all pouring into the endless ocean of blood. She did not know why Ozpin was in her forest, but he needed to run. "You shouldn't be here," Ruby said, her voice weak but echoed through the dead black trees that reached to a crimson sky.
"What happened here," He asked, looking at the bodies that hung from the branches. Ruby wanted to warn him, but the rose petals floating through the air appeared, it was too late.
"She's coming," She felt Summer's fingers running through her hair, trying to comfort her.
"Who is coming, Ruby," He asked, but it was too late now, she was already there. A scythe came flying from the tree line, and Ozpin quickly dodged out of the way, only to be knocked to the ground by a cloud of rose petals.
Just as quickly as he appeared, Ozpin vanished, and the Red Death approached Ruby. With a wave of her hand, the Red Death's petals brought her weapon to her. Her shirt painted red with blood, crimson poured down her face as the storm of roses surrounded them. Ruby could not look up at her and just sunk deeper into Summer's embrace. Her voice echoing in the void.
