Note:This and the next chapters are reposts from the other edition that I have decided to move here due to not enough traction on that one.
2nd part of the battle. I'll admit, I do hope I don't confuse people with doing the other part of the 'Missing Episodes' in a different fanfiction. I just feel that having a +100 chapter story would be too intimidating for me and put a strain on me. I prefer this method of putting these things in parts, as it also is a way to better gauge the evolution of both writing and the progress of the overall story.
That said, here's hoping you enjoy!
Back in the Swing Part 4
Mega Man © of Capcom
Funny it was in a way. That of all things that occurred after visiting this place and the subsequent even of robotic dinosaurs tearing through the city, the layout of the abandoned park housing said robotic dinosaurs wasn't at the forefront of things he'd later need to memorize.
This place had bee completely overtaken by the once kept and trimmed fauna, his track of whether there were approaching footsteps clouded and muddled by the ever present clicking and chirping of whatever else had claimed this forgotten land as its home. Somewhat fitting, in a sense, as after the fiasco involving Otto Raptor, the Mayor had declared this place to be the perfect location for a nature preserve, akin to that of the islands in the East River. And given its general distance from the city, it was decided that there would be little consequence if such a thing was allowed.
Well, up until now anyway.
"This way!" Mega Man heard Tomahawk shout, he obeying and following the Robot Master to the left, darting behind a collection of trees, the thickened size of the trunks nearly enough to hide their entire forms from view. "Any sign of them following?"
Mega shook his head. "Not that I'm aware of." He peered out, seeing nothing but green all around him.
The other Robot Master tightened his lips. Even if they were in the clear at the moment, the others would come for them soon. One amongst the four was currently incapacitated, yet, should they hold some sense of loyalty to one another, this would only further motivate their pursuit of them. "Keep a look out." Tomahawk told his current partner. "I'm climb up and see if I can get a better view." With that, the Native based android climbed the tree he currently used for cover, making use of his namesake weapon to both quicken and aid him in his journey to the top. Upon reaching the top of the rather tall tree, Tomahawk Man broke through the entangling collection of leaves and branches, overlooking the area. Indeed, this place was far vaster than either of them initially anticipated. Still, from the look of it, he couldn't get a visual on the three Robot Masters they currently were in combat with. Where could they be-
BLAST!
His blue eyes widened, then winced as a blast grazed his shoulder, one of his shoulder plates having a small chunk taken off it. He was about abandon his current position and leap down to assist the Blue Bomber, yet a darkly colored projectile broke through the branches and contacted the underside of Tomahawk Man's jaw, it then promptly exploding, releasing several broken bits of debris into his throat. This, combined with the general disorientation that came with the suddenness of the attack, caused Tomahawk to lose balance and plummet to the ground, landing with a resounding, echoing 'thud'.
"Tomahawk!" Mega Man shouted, Dust Man just about to release another compacted sphere of waste in his direction, the Blue Bomber shifting himself out of the way just barely, the ball barely scraping by his face.
"Do you like it, friend?!" the blue and grey Robot Master snarled, obviously having not enjoyed the previous journey he was forced to make. "Do you like it, do you!? Do you see the filth and waste that I've been forced to accumulate?! Do you?!"
Yes, he very well could. As well as the noxious fumes that practically propelled itself from the other machine's vents. If anything, this made Mega more than thankful that his kind wasn't yet equipped with a sense of smell, otherwise it would've surely sent him to the ground. That said, a flurry of these were being shot at him left and right, and frankly, he couldn't keep up this game forever. Still…perhaps he could use these collections of grime to his advantage.
Dust Man continued and on, his rage and animosity towards the blue robot continuing to rise and rise as the collections of dirt expelled from him. And what luck, he had just forced the cretin back up against a tree, he outright stumbled and nearly lost his footing. Perfect.
Perfect for Mega too. At least, he'd have to make it such. It was risky, riskier than he would've liked. Yet ultimately, it was simply a factor that came with his function. Along with getting a little…dirty in this case. Dust Man was about to launch yet another ball, yet just as he did so, Mega Man reached up and rammed his cannon right into the filter, catching a ball in the nozzle of his arm cannon. He fired, though the ball took most of the shot, yet ultimately, it was more than enough for him, he then wrangling it out, the nozzle completely covered in bits of slime, dirt, and whatever else the Robot Master had been forced to collect.
Dust Man stepped back, immediately feeling the effects of the compacted filth going back into his systems, said systems immediately identifying an invading force. Dust Man began to spasm and shake, he desperately trying to expel the substance from his nozzle, yet the damage was already done. The ball had come apart, and grime coated areas outside of his disposal compartment, affecting more sensitive cords and cables, his spasms growing more and more violent and out of control. Finally,
BOOM!
The nozzle stationed atop of his head outright exploded, a flurry of flames and bits and pieces of both the dirt he had been forced to collect expelling with them. Then, after a good few moments of doing this, the motions reaching their peak, Dust Man collapsed onto the ground, a few light spasms causing his form to give light shakes before his systems forced an emergency shutdown, he then going silent and still.
Spark Man thrust and sliced through the air, Tomahawk Man in turn blocking and swinging his namesake weapon whenever he got the opportunity. Electrical surges flashed and lit up the entire area, Tomahawk just barely managing to avoid a charger impaling through his throat, only for it to meet the bark of a tree and end up getting embedded into the trunk. Spark Man's charger released a good deal of energy from it out of reflex, both of them seeing the wood begin to glow red as vein-like markings emerged from the place the charger had struck, blackened and smoldering.
Now was his chance!
Charging forward, Tomahawk swung downward, immediately feeling a million watts assault his system, an immense sense of regret plaguing him. He had acted too soon, yet if the force he had exerted would prove to bear fruit, then the surging agony that resulted in him practically smashing through a tree would be worth it. And upon opening his eyes despite the pain, it turned out that his efforts were successful. Spark Man's left charger had been completely severed from his body, though surges of electricity still emitted from both the portion in the tree and the stump that was left. Though this seemed to not exactly be the main focus of the Robot Master. True, he was more than unhappy at one of his beloved chargers being removed from his body, yet it was then that he took notice of the fallen form of Dust Man but a short distance away, eyes wide as he then directed his attention to the azure android that was responsible.
"You!" Spark Man shouted, beginning to make a dash towards Mega Man, yet was cut off by his ally. The DWN, despite the loss of one of his limbs, at least had one to combat against the other robot. For Dust Man.
A kick over his head and the scrapping of one of the skates attached to his feet, Mega Man found himself forced against a tree, Top Man shredded the chest of the Blue Bomber, taking off both paint and a layer of the outer shell. He shot his leg forward yet again, yet the blue android managed to duck underneath it and maneuver to the other side of him, cannon ready to fire. Unfortunately for him, he underestimated the DWN's agility, for when he saw the other machine's tactic, Top Man kicked off of the sturdy trunk of the tree and flipped over Mega, said blue robot having no time to react as he found himself being knocked off his feet and sent to the ground. He rose to his feet, only to feel himself being slammed into the tree he had just managed to back away from, then feeling his arm bearing his buster being seized.
"Cliché as it may be, I think it'd be a good time for you to take a little spin!"
With that, Top Man's skates began revving up, Mega soon finding his entire world spinning. Round, round, round, the other Robot Master went, the blue robot feeling his limbs practically becoming little more than jelly as his general focus and sense of position were rendered obsolete. Yet he wouldn't allow himself to be tossed aside like some ragdoll again! Not to mention, who knew what Tomahawk Man was currently going through! Yet what to do? The obvious came to him, yet whether he could pull it off was a possibility he couldn't afford to ponder too much, lest he tossed halfway across the area in mere moments. Still, better than nothing, he supposed. Aiming his buster, he noted that it was immensely difficult considering the speed he was going at, yet, as best he could, he aimed, then fired.
"GAH!"
Yes! Right on target! True, he found himself being slung through the tops of a few trees, from twigs to branches snapping as he soared through the air, yet if anything, he was free. OOF! And had contact with the solid ground again. Though he didn't have time for relief yet, hearing the whirling of an incoming object heading his way. Whizzing through and slicing off just as many branches as Mega had (it taking out sizable chunks of trees as it passed), a spinning yet quite deadly top headed right in the direction of the Blue Bomber. Blasting the incoming projectile, he found two flying at him to replace it. And those two replaced by three. Blasting the incoming tops left and right, his audio units registered that the one who shot them was fast approaching.
"YAH!" and given from the kick delivered to his chest, knocking him back into yet another tree (he was beginning to grow a distaste for them), his assumptions were proven correct.
"You're going to pay! Both of you!" Spark Man hollered, locked into something of a swords play with Tomahawk Man, using his charge as a makeshift blade against the other's sharpened weapon. "For both Toad AND Dust Man!"
This gave the other Robot Master pause, he finding his guard momentarily lowered. Still, it didn't last long, Spark Man once again charging at him with his charger. 'Pity.' He thought, still combating with the DWN.
Forcing him back, Spark Man shot a blast of electricity Tomahawk Man's way, blasting through a tree and rendering its ties to the ground obsolete, slicing through the trunk and falling to the ground. Both were forced to leap out of the way, the place where it was blasted sending small flares outwards and contacting another trunk.
Tomahawk gave pause at this, yet he wasn't allowed time to observe as Spark Man continued to charge at him in more ways than one.
Note: I'm looking forward to the next episode, as it deals with a certain group and a particular suit that hasn't been seen in a bit...
Not saying much more than that, yet here's hoping you enjoy, and please give your input. Thank you!
