Time to wrap up this arc once and for all!
ON WITH THE SHOW!
The Misadventures of Hyperdimension Peashy
Episode 83
by Derald Snyder
*Steve DeRommer's House*
"Alright, everyone ready?" Steve asked his wife and kids. "Wait, where's iPhone?"
"I'm coming!" the ten-year old grunted as she came down the stairs, carrying a doll looking vaguely like a two-tailed fox. "See the new doll iPad got me?"
"Don't worry, I examined it thoroughly this time," her older sister assured everyone. "It's not alive or possessed, or even rigged to explode- just a regular doll."
"Goddess, I would certainly hope so," Laura sighed as she rubbed her temples. "Wait, where's Arthur?"
"He left already to go pick up Nisa," iPad replied. "They'll probably be waiting for us when we arrive... I think he's still embarrassed from getting that Civilian Medal of Freedom from Lady Vert..."
"Even though he specifically requested a private ceremony for Nicole and himself?" Steve sighed. "I mean, I don't mind him having a little humility, but this is going a little too far... anyway, let's be off!"
"Right!" the others assented, heading out to the family van...
*Leanbox City Zoo*
"Alright, birds!" the zoo caretaker shouted at the Tenga in their enclosed enclave. "You're here to entertain the visitors, so make sure you perform like you do in the wild! And no talking, you scare off the kids that way!"
"Yessir!" the group of bird-men saluted, the NPC nodding before exting and locking the door.
"This sucks, caww!" one Tenga complained. "Why'd we have to get the worker that's a former drill sergeant?!"
"Well, we did serve a Demon Lord or two," another pointed out. "Of course they're not gonna take any chances with us!"
"And what kind of cage is this supposed to be?!" the first one continued, looking up at the sky. "We can just fly out easily, caww!" With that, he flapped his wings, taking to the air...
"No, wait!" another of his comrades called... too late.
*BZZ-ZAAAAPP!* The flying Tenga promptly crumpled to the ground, his body slightly smoking.
"You birdbrain! Weren't you paying attention?!" another Tenga yelled. "It's got a force-field overhead that zaps us if we try to fly, caww!"
"Now you tell me..." the fallen Tenga groaned.
"HEY! Didn't I order you to stop talking?!" the caretaker from before yelled. Immediately all conversation ceased, replaced with clucking and other bird-noises. "Better."
*Overlord's Castle*
Rayna groaned as she slowly regained consciousness, becoming aware that she was tied in a crucifix position... (Oh, not again...) As her vision focused, she saw the face of an all-too-familiar redhead staring her in the eye... Though her lips were smiling, her red eyes were full of rage and fury... "Etna- Master Etna!" the brunette stammered. "I-I can expla-" she was cut off as a gloved hand grabbed her neck!
"Shut up, traitor," Etna growled. "And don't expect your lover to come rescue you, either- she's been left in the custody of that slutty goddess. In other words, you are in very deep shit." She took a small measure of satisfaction seeing the color drain from Rayna's face... "Buuuut~, as much as I would love to slowly burn your flesh and muscle from your bones, my friend here insists on one more chance at converting you..."
"F-friend?!" Rayna rasped, Etna promptly releasing her and stepping aside, revealing Archangel Flonne standing a short distance away. "Oh, no... please, no! Not another lecture on love and justice! Anything but that!" She strained against her bindings to no avail...
"I'm very disappointed in you, Rayna!" Flonne began. "I thought you would have at least learned some humility after being banished from Celestia and being forced to work under Etna! And then you turn around and betray her for her pet cat! Even if her final form was a succubus, that still borders on bestiality, which is strictly forbidden by the Seraph...!"
"No, NO, NOOOOOOOOOO!" Rayna's wail of despair echoed throughout the castle and beyond, Laharl promptly letting loose with an evil laugh soon after, since that was what Overlords were supposed to do...
*Leanbox City Stadium*
"How are you feeling, Peach?" Adrian inquired of his fiancee, both of them dressed in formal military uniforms.
"Nervous as heck," the blonde replied. "Did Lady Vert really have to go to all this trouble?!"
"Well, we did help save Leanbox and possibly all of Gamindustri from being overrun by the forces of hell," the petty officer pointed out. "Heck, you pulled your weight in the Armored Rangers more than any of the rest of us did..."
"I know, but... I just hope I don't make a fool of myself in front of everybody," Peach sighed. "I mean, not that I don't appreciate this, but I just don't care for the spotlight..."
"Hey, just remember, I'll be right there at your side," Adrian reassured her.
(Music- 'The Throne Room'- Star Wars: A New Hope)
"That's our cue," he said as the music started. "Let's go, Peashy..."
"Okay..." Peach gulped, the duo marching out the door onto the field. They walked down an aisle formed by two groups of Army soldiers, standing in rows facing Peach and Adrian as they walked forward. At the other end was a raised platform, atop which stood Green Heart in a formal gown, Chika standing slightly behind her to her right, the commander-in-chief of the army to her left, holding a small black box. The Nepgeardam towered over the scene behind the platform, its monitor showing an oscilloscope line, indicating that its speakers were actually playing the music.
As Adrian and Peach closed the distance to the platform, the soldiers on both sides turned to face said platform in near-perfect sync. The duo then stopped and stood at attention in front of their goddess, who looked them over briefly before beginning to speak, "Today we are gathered here to honor these two brave military officers who risked life and limb for their nation, and proved instrumental in holding back the forces of the netherworld led by Demon Lord Etna! In recognition of their virtuous deeds, we shall hereby bestow on them the highest honor a soldier can receive- the Leanbox Medal of Honor!" With that, she turned to the commander-in-chief, who opened the box in his hands, revealing two medals. Vert took the first medal and pinned it to Adrian's breast, then took the other medal and pinned it to Peach in the same spot. The two then bowed to their CPU, before turning to the audience...
At the front were Peach's family and Nisa on one side, she and A-Mac both wearing the Civilian Medal of Freedom on their chests, Lisa standing on the far side of the group from her ex-husband. On the other side was Adrian's unit, Sergei standing next to Adrian's mother, who had tears of joy running down her face.
"And now, let us applaud these brave, heroic souls!" Green Heart declared, leading the applause from the crowds!
"Yeah, Peashyyyy!" A-Mac called.
"I'm so proud of you!" Lisa added.
"ADRIAAAAAAAAN!" the 81st unit called in unison save Sergei, who politely covered Adrian's mother's ears.
"LAAAAAAAMMEEE!" both Adrian and Peach yelled back at them, albeit with big smiles on their faces...

Leanbox City Animal Shelter
"Grrr..."
In a small, isolated cage at the back of the facility, sat a black cat with large ears and a long tail, wearing clawed gloves and a large mechanical collar with green lights. The collar itself had several scratch marks, as if the cat had tried several times to pry it off to no effect...
"You'll regret showing me mercy, meow..." BlackGatomon grumbled to herself. "Mark my words, Green Heart... one day I'll find a way out of this place... and once I get this stupid collar off, vengeance will be mine..."
*Demon Lord Etna Arc- Fin*
Finally... it's finally over... (collapses) Seriously though, this is the longest story arc for this series by far! I'm probably gonna take a hiatus from this series to focus on 'Ho-Hum and the Alien Visitation', though I do have an idea for one more episode... Anyway, review and tell me your thoughts on this arc! :)
