Learning Hexenbiest skills.
Months were passing by and Elizabeth found it odd that Adalind still wasn't teaching Diana anything about being a Hexenbiest.
She reflected that it was a bit disappointing that everyone else was teaching the girl how to be a Hexenbiest. There were Hexenbiest skills that she must learn from an actual hexenbiest. Elizabeth decided she should start working with Diana on healing wounds and injuries. Hexenbiests had this ability - and that would be an extremely useful skill. Police officers and especially Grimms had a knack for accumulating injuries and she was sure the girl would be working on Nick often. She first showed Diana via cutting her hand and then healing the wound.
She had demonstrated the healing powers on Hank on the previous visit when he came over with Nick. He received several minor knife wounds from a rough night of police work. Diana would need to learn this was sooner than later - she already had "The Blood of a Grimm" and so she could work on Nick. Elizabeth decided to start teaching Diana this on her next visit if possible.
Adalind had never seen this before and wanted to learn it as well. Given the family and their friends - Elizabeth thought this was an excellent idea.
Diana was super excited about this. Adalind didn't know this ability even existed. Elizabeth reflected on how sad it was that these "Modern" Hexenbiests had completely lost all knowledge of "The Old Ways.
At first Diana was worried about hurting her dad. As Elizabeth taught her - she learned to use her powers to dull or remove the pain so the healing work could be done. She was also instructed on the proper procedures - her nimble, flexible, small fingers made quick work of reattaching nerves, blood vessels, muscle tissue, organs, bone pieces, and finally skin. Elizabeth also started working on the art of healing without leaving scars. Finally there were the lessons with leeches and maggots. Life had a tendency to pour you into situations where you needed this sort of thing. Elizabeth had more than a few stories of doctoring up Sean during their years on the run.
It wasn't long before Nick came home stabbed again. An angry Skalengek had got him in the chest. Diana asked if she could doctor on Dad. Nick agreed so long as Elizabeth supervised - just keep the staff handy if he managed to die all the way again. Adalind contacted Elizabeth and had her teleport in to provide oversight.
Elizabeth was surprised to watch Diana complete the work with hardly any assistance and even more surprised that The Grimm happily let his Hexenbiest daughter rummage around in his chest to put him back together from such substantial injuries - he had suffered a punctured lung from the incident. He was joking with Elizabeth about waiting so long to teach Diana this and how this was more convenient than visiting the hospital. He wished Diana had known this last week when she had stabbed various things from the house through his chest during a particularly confusing homework assignment. Diana smiled and said "I'm sorry Dad. I hope this makes you feel better." "It does honey. I appreciate your help a lot."
While Diana was working inside Nick she recovered some silverware, several pieces of glass, Adalind's car keys, and a purple giraffe sippy cup lid. Elizabeth was shocked "How did all that get inside you?" Nick smiled and said "Diana. We still buy a lot of silverware, but we quit using glass 3-years ago." Adalind exclaimed "I told you I didn't lose those car keys! I knew you had them!"
Adalind was learning the skill too. Given the massive injuries which occurred so frequently - Elizabeth decided this was an excellent idea.
Rosalee was really surprised the first time she saw it. Adalind and the kids were over playing when one of the triplets fell and got scraped up on the road outside the house. Diana offered to patch her up. Adalind explained it to Rosalee and that if she was OK with it - Diana would heal the wounds. Rosalee was Ok with it and watched Diana rub her hand over the cuts and scrapes and they all disappeared.
Rosalee commented she remembered reading some veiled references to this in some of her really old books - but none of them were specific about what was going on. "Elizabeth has been teaching me as well. Here, let's go in the kitchen and I will show you." Adalind showed her in the kitchen - she cut her arm and rubbed her hand over it - and the cut disappeared.
Rosalee smiled "So that's how she did it! I wondered about that when I saw Elizabeth stab her hand with a big knife to open your mom's spellbook. She had this huge gash in her hand and then it was gone. Can you do it on me?"
Adalind smiled "Sure - I have been practicing on Nick, Hank, and Wu - they get cut up pretty often."
Rosalee was surprised "Wow, does Sean know?"
"Oh, Sean is more than happy with it. He would send us all his officers if he could. It saves the precinct quite a bit of money on administrative health and safety budgets and he doesn't have to grant paid medical leave... Not to mention it helps his officer injury statistics."
Rosalee laughed "So he's saving the world for the sake of the paperwork! Always the hero. Well, I guess it's good to get the practice. Ok, can you do it on me."
Rosalee made a small cut on her arm. Adalind rubbed her hand over it and it was gone. "Wow! That's amazing. So you literally didn't even know you could do this?"
Adalind wrinkled her nose and smiled "I had no idea. My mother really didn't teach me anything. She never even showed me how to open her spellbooks."
